They are the Tianxiu people.

For every Tianxiu person, if they find someone they like and want to bind as partners with each other — then they would have to go through a life or death Adult Ceremony. The winner of the ceremony will become the absolute dominance in the spousal relationship.

While the defeated one will be referred to as — Qizi.

I have actually MTLed this and though I somethings weren't really clear to me, I understood it for the most part and I definitely loved it. I put chapter 31 since, the story is even more understandable (being in English) and I look forward for the chapters to be translated. :) Thank you to the translators.

What I really loved about it is the development of both the romance and the characters. Overall, including the rest of the chapters I MTLd is an exciting and interesting story.

This is one great novel the mystery (or is it conspiracy?) is there, world building, and character development! Honestly I love it especially the MC & ML's interactions. I just wish I also saw this a little later or after it was translated because I can't take MTL anymore!!! The waiting patiently thing is killing me~~~
Spoiler

Just like a Qizi without their Qizhu I'm having sleeping problems just to wait for the translated chapters.

Please don't skip this novel based on the reviews of people who didn't make it to the end. That is the very first mistake people make here because it is clearly stated that the characters here are NOT humans. This is an entirely different world with an entirely different relationship system. The whole time I was reading the novel I was constantly thinking "if I truck-kun hit me and I ended up in this world, would I accept being a Qizi?" And by the time I finished the novel the... more>> conclusion I came to was "yes, if my partner is stronger than me, I don't mind being Qizi but they should also be fine with it if they end up as my Qizi". There are many parts of the spousal relationship that I didn't like but then when I think about what caused it I feel like I shouldn't be complaining. The history of this world is important and that comes 100 chapters into the novel. As for our protagonists, I'd say they're made for each other. Some people mentioned the MC is selfish but I don't really see it. If we are to equate his age in the beginning to humans then he's a teenager and teenagers do s*upid things. He grows out of it as the story progresses and honestly the relationship progress between the two is kinda well done. For the ML
Spoiler

the MC and ML have reincarnated multiple times and they've always fallen in love with each other. In his previous life the ML was born as a deviant called the "lone Star" and they generally have low to non-existent EQ and apparently the effects of one lifetime as a lonestar appears in the next 3 lifetimes. The current ML has low EQ but the dude evolves. Once when the MC temporarily had amnesia he misunderstood something and the ML noticed it almost immediately and took action to prevent the misunderstanding. If it was him in the beginning of the story then he would've ignored the MC so yes growth occurs in both of them

To simplify, this novel has a total of 3 arcs which I would personally refer to as the: angsty arc, loving arc & history arc.

If you can get pass all the knives of the 1st arc then you can eat your rewarding sweet sugar of the next arc, but don't be fooled for there is a bigger knife waiting at the back ;)

I just finished at the minute to read this entire novel and I'm just... speechless, moved, too much moved above words...

I've loved so much this story to start to end : the plot is simply amazing, the universe really interesting, the principal characters are so moving and are so strong and and are everything you dream of.

I just can't stop crying in my heart at this marterpiece.

The romance story in this one is defintely one of my favorite in all yaoi, even if don't expect to find smut scenes here... more>> but myself who prefer yaois over shonen ai I just want to say to you : read this one, you won't regret it.

And even more if you search a power couple, a moving reflexion about society (so a smart story but where it's not annoying) and an amazingly epic love.

Spoiler

If I have just one regret, it's that in they current life (that of the story) they didn't find happiness at the end. Yes, they were happy but did not reunite for that long. They endured so much, and it was so long, they were so strong and still didn't have the happyness they truly deserved. I know they are reborn but still... it's not exacly the same character and I just want to hurl and cry with ferocity because no, they deserved much more, as well as their friends. They deserved to be great soldiers, to be happy together and this is just so f*cking unfair !!

Also there are time in the story where the plot was still a little too much complex or at the contrary a little absurd (why Zhu Yue hate so much Ying Feng just because he didn't chose him as a lovers and even try multiple times to kill his most precious loved one who did nothing to him ??) but this is nothing compared to my frustation... Hope they remember (or will) remember their last life.

Worth a read!

The selling point of Qizi is the setting. The author has set up an incredibly interesting sci-fi setting with an innovative setting for the species, aging structure, social structure. The backdrop gets explored thoroughly, and I really enjoyed the origin story of the Tianxiu people.

The plot was good and quite hefty, but greatly condensed. 137 chapters was not enough to cover the content that the author wrote. The initial school arc was covered in sufficient length, but the subsequent arcs were quite fast. If Qizi were adapted to... more>> a more elongated donghua or TV series (which would elongate each arc with action panels), it would've been stellar.

Fair warning that I think a lot of readers will get upset at the social structure and relationship dyanamics of Qizi. The relationships are described as s*ave/owner, and that is not an exaggeration. It's upsetting, and the MC suffers a lot. There is no "payout" for the abuse that you read. Readers are used to reading through abuse and then getting a satisfying resolution afterward. In my opinion, that does not happen here. I do not find the resolution to the initial suffering satisfying, so just a heads up to future readers. <<less

Some comments before actual review: Read the tags and summary! The premise of this novel is as the summary says- there exists a population where the way they mature is to form a pact/bond that is inherently unequal and comes with a whole period of adjustment. To address some complaints about ML: there's a reason why he is the way he is. Doesn't necessarily excuse some of his early actions, but he's essentially a teenage- and once you get to the background, it really makes sense.

I really enjoyed the novel-... more>> premise is very interesting and philosophical. The connections between all the characters, understanding the cause and consequences of everything was very well written, but you do need to have a bit of patience. There's a fair amount of foreshadowing, but truth comes slowly. I was pretty annoyed with the ML for a little but liked him anyway, and the entire novel is a rollercoaster for the poor pair. The sugar is worth it though!!!

Put 5 stars though it probably falls closer to 4.7. Not the best sci-fi, BL, interstellar, etc novel out there, but it's a pretty unique read with great writing and characterization. I am very grateful that it isn't as dramatic as it could've been. <<less

I usually trust in the rating of NU, especially the 4.5 and above star novels, but this one really made me lose all the trust.

The characters are very unlikeable - MC, ML, side characters - they are so hateful and melodramatic. Its just a bunch of unnecessary drama being written in a very childish and uncharismatic tone. Everything about this novel is like the food that the ML gave to MC - a dried piece of bread.

As someone who self identifies as a masochist but is sadistic when watching people unrelated to my situation, this novel is a treat for me. I'm a huge fan of the eroge novel Hadaka Shitsuji (Naked Butlers).. So that should give you an idea about my mindset. Although I feel empathy for the main characters, I also find myself wanting to see more abuse and more savagery from the main Qizhu toward the main Qizi. I felt like it actually wasn't enough. I personally wanted to see the main Qizhu... more>> exhibit more control and cruelty. ^ ^ However after reading the other comments, for those that are easily triggered, this novel may not be for you. This novel had me laughing, crying.. And at times, had me at the edge of my seat in anticipation. It may be a bit slow in the beginning but if you stick with it, it actually has a surprisingly good storyline. It's believable in my opinion and I find a lot of the characters relatable. Especially Ling Xiao. So much character development there.

I'm so thankfully to the team that helped translate and edit this novel!!! I'm looking forward to more chapter releases!! ^-^ <<less

The story goes from light, to dark, to light (even a bit silly). The dark part is very depressing, but it does get explained later. If you want to understand it better here's an analogy, but warning, it'll spoil the light beginning of the novel if you read this first. Honestly, only read it if you were like, 'what on earth is going on here'.

Have you ever heard of a Gu insect? They have them a lot in Cultivation and Jianghu (martial arts) novels. They are basically bugs/snakes/big-bad-killing-machine creatures that someone with ill intentions puts into a small space and forces them to fight together until only the strongest creature is left alive at the end. And they do it over and over until supposedly an apex killing creature is refined to perfection in the end. This is what the bonding ritual is, and yes, it's supposed to be messed up. If you are wondering why this system exists, keep reading, it's part of the story.

This novel is actually gold, but I choose to drop it at ch 70.

The best part about this novel is the setting and world building. The amount of detail that the author has put in this, is insane.

So why drop it?

Actually, Omegaverse is bad enough, this is way worse. Qizi have basically no rights and can bre controlled. Some omegaverse go to the extreme, but the setting in this aspect is not the same. Well, at this point, I don't know what to say. A part of me wants to... more>> read the rest of the novel, but while I read it, it just brings me freat discomfort. <<less

A sense of peace, of overflowing love, known to those as one's Qizi and their Qizhu. Reminiscing on this novel, this is how I feel.

That I have the privilege to share in the angst and tragedy and comedy and love-lost and love-found that is this world created in "Qizi", I am truly grateful to author Dich Tu La. Thank you for your vision and for creating such a world, full of paradoxes, but infinitely hopeful - that is our main couple's relationship, that is the species' relationship with others, that... more>> is the side characters with their timely entrances and exits, that is the poignancy of not forgetting where one come's from, but recognizing that we are our past, present, and future, and yes, it is indeed hopeful. <<less

As you can see, I stopped at episode 46 before going straight to the comments section. I guess it's something I'll have to do directly in all the novels to be warned. That said, you have to keep in mind that, although MC and ML were unconscious the first time, so this is not abuse, ML's way of treating MC made me uncomfortable. Sometimes it felt like they had made a breakthrough, but later, when they are going to have se*, MC doesn't want to, even though she has to... more>> submit afterwards. This is something I could tolerate two years ago, when I read novels of this type, but I came expecting a tragic romance, in which the loved ones could not be together for different reasons.

This is the first time I've reviewed a novel I don't like. But, I will explain several important points why this review exists. First, the synopsis and the plot captivated me, and also the fact that it was a tragedy made me think that the story would be a 5. Unfortunately that was not the case. The second point is that, as you can see, the novel's rating is quite high. And, by God, I hope there aren't people who think that just because it's fiction you have to read about r**e! Because for the same reason that this was coming to seem beautiful to me (that ML allowed MC after having abused him) was that I stayed away from this type of novels.

There are much better novels, with tragic relationships (I insert several novels by Fei Tian Ye Xiang, because his novels mostly contain ab*se (for us, the readers. Not for the MC) and good plot) that do not need ML to hate MC to be tragic <<less

How can someone rate a novel 1 star just because they don't like the MC's personality? Hahaha.. Missah of Jan 1, 2024. I don't see MC's personality very repulsive.. Both MC and ML are very much in character, true to their character, true to their genes and species.. It was even explained by the author that their planet has the cruelest culture.

I think people should rate a novel with the genre and the tags in mind. If you are into fluff yet looks for fluff in dark-themed novels, just don't... more>> leave a rating and bring down the whole novel's standing. Same goes to other kind of novels.

It wasn't even that hard reading the first 30 chapters, it is more on the establishment of their personalities and explanation of the world.. For people who loves angst, this world can even be used for fanfics because it has more angst than regular DomSub and ABO AUs. <<less

After reading so many positive reviews, I really wanted to get into this but I couldn’t even get past ch21. I rarely find MCs that I find intolerable, but Ling Xiao was to me. I underestimated the ‘selfish protagonist’ tag.
The world building was interesting though, and the translator was great. I just can’t deal with so many selfish characters.

This isn't for everyone, the tags are there for a reason.

That aside, this is well written. The pacing was just right. Plot, characters, world building interesting. This story is not without flaws, but it's the type that makes u Think and FEEL.

This story has got me so intrigued. It starts off at a different civilisation different from earth and hence there’s a lot of world building and it is explained so clearly. The main characters starts off as enemies and events throughout the story brings them closer.

this story has got me on an emotional ride, a lot of problems and background behind the MC and ML (problems usually from their distinguishable personalities). This story has got a lot of action and some heartfelt moments. Prepare for some fast paced and slow... more>> paced segments in this novel.

Highly recommend taking your time with this one. This story has made me cry so much. <<less

Pleasurable reading!!! I saw there's 3 books and guess it's totally worth the work. The background, the universe, the characters, the interactions, the plot.. everything is top level, logical and what's great is that the main characters get to become a ''couple'' relatively fast with good reason but at the same time, love is slow paced...

Read and you'll know what I mean.

I finished reading this novel the previous day, and it gave me too many complicated emotions. The bonding relationship in this novel somewhat reminded me of the ABO genre stories, but it was fairer, more meaningful and heartbreaking than any of those couple bonds.

CP: Second male lead ZY x Online shop owner CH

CH is so clever and free to accept the reality that he makes use of it to his advantage well, but as Fate is a cruel manipulator, so he met, bonds and tangles with ZY until his last breath and establish a sad ending for both of them. As for ZY, that fellow had quite serious psychological problems with inferior traits compared to his classmates. For a bullying sufferer like him, there is hardly a way out, only two paths are awaited, either find the opening, let the time slowly self-cure the emotional scars or forever fall into the abyss. And the fact is, he chooses the latter, terribly hurting CH, and also gradually breaking himself. Maybe, if their society is not the rigorous kind it is, he and his mate might have other options besides the critical choices they committed throughout the story.

The loyal subordinate XL x the weak prince YY

Their relationship has been promised for more than 4000 years, not inadequate to the main cp, and XL's loyal to YY is undeniable. I think that he is so desirable as a good follower. I like it so far. Characters are likeable and the world building is great. The only thing missing as of chapter 50 is romance. Chapter 1 to 30 is basically stuff like world building and character development. The romance part starts at around chapter 30, but it starts very slowly. I'm sure there will be more interesting scenes further on so I'm looking forward to that. I NEED MORE CHAPTERS
