It was a life without regret. My parents were in good health, and I wasn’t home enough for me to combine my studies and part-time jobs.

I like fantasy, martial arts, games, fiction movies, cartoons… I’m a normal high school student who likes these things.

That was certainly true until ten years ago.

This is not the earth.

A fantasy world dominated by powerful people. Savage utopia. It is a world where you can take anything with you if you have physical strength.

finally someone picked this up, already read it from RUS translation tho.

it's an adventure, isekai, fantasy told in different style.

addressing almost all plotholes in typical heroes story, their nonsense, and typical isekai victim mentality (social outcasts). Our MC is just a regular person (his word) thus he won't accept that he got isekai'd because he assumes it doesn't make any sense (he enjoy his life, living like a normal person with a loving parents, with opening coffee shop as his dream), because in every other isekai story usually a loser... more>> or typical social outcast is the one got chosen (that's why it's "second chance") imagine suddenly told in your face that you're the same as "them", lol.

that's why his adventures is different and won't follow "usual plot" like in typical isekai stories. <<less

I think that the sheer excitement, of coming across a mature protagonist with harem/naïve/neet fan service, just blinded me to actually reviewing this from a neutral standpoint.

The story is smooth, dynamic, and not repetitive. Has some crazy plot twists, but you will come to enjoy and understand them. The MC has a very logical and cold blooded approach to everything that threatens him. I have read a lot of novels where the MC builds up THOUSANDS of skills that it doesn't seem to matter. Not here. The MC struggles for... more>> his life against equal strength opponents and either beats them with innovative strategy or sheer will. Got to love it.

Hate to say it, but the novel is way better than the manga. <<less

I think this story is best summed up as "the same kind of black comedy as Youjo Senki", or a "Yagami Light situation (except comedic rather than tragic) ".

If you take it too seriously, it's a horrible train-wreck of a neurotic, irredeemable sociopathic man-child of a protagonist deadset on making unbelievably s*upid mistakes.

However, if you have the twisted sense of humour shared by myself, as well as most of the other readers rating this story highly, then be prepared to laugh until you cry. I had tears in my eyes... more>> almost all the way from chapter one, and the story never lets up.

The MC can be summed up as 'simultaneously too smart and too dumb for his own good'. It's obvious from the glimpses of other perspectives, as well as the Game System/Grades that his perception of events is grossly distorted. He makes mental enemies of people who aren't actually malicious towards him, and therefore constantly acts like everyone's out to get him (they're not). He rationalises his crimes with a deft hand, and the combination of these two factors mean he's constantly pelting headfirst into perfectly avoidable situations, misinterpreting what would be obvious to anyone who's even the slightest bit genre-savvy, all while wondering how he got there, and blaming everyone but himself for it.

The simplest non-spoiler example is his smile -- he frequently describes his smile as innocuous/neutral/something generally unoffencive, but other characters (at least by Chapter 80-ish) comment on it being so evil that it makes the Demon King look like the good guy. It's clear that he's blatantly the sort of character that would be casted as a villain in a stereotypical Isekai story, but he's somehow landed the job as a Hero, and absolutely nobody is actually happy about this
Spoiler

(until he starts brainwashing them).

[collapse]

His sheer OP-ness just makes the whole thing even funnier. He has blatant Plot Armour, but rather than being an annoyance, it emphasises the absurdity of many of the Isekai genre tropes, while allowing him to make at least one natural disaster-levelled mistake per playthrough. You'd think he'd learn, but instead, misinterpretation piles on interpretation, and he just goes more and more off-track.

Worse still, his insanity is clearly contagious.

Spoiler

The Trainee Teacher starts off as a naive, but mostly rule-abiding guide. By the time the Hero Festival rolls around, she's pretty much under his thumb, providing the protagonist with secret intel. In that same Festival, he corrupts a father-daughter pair of Elves, and brainwashes/ens*aves/steals a Saintess. This trend continues on with all of his playthroughs afterwards, cumulating in him becoming the Maou and creating a whole bunch of fanatical full-blown Demons by the time we hit Chapter 87.

[collapse]

I can't wait to see what ridiculous thing he'll do next. <<less

At first, the MC is a strong and intelligent hero. Although he is brutal, he still has reasons for his actions. However, after his graduation, he turns into a psychopathic killer.
Spoiler

He wipes out all the angels in that dimension because some of them attacked him who was getting in their way of killing two elves. He manipulates a saintess to help dark humans and kill angels, and kills three innocent angels for them being weak (they were the rewards of the festival). After returning to Earth, he even kills all the lovers of a prince for him trying to kill him once. It went over being self-defense and he just kills anyone he thinks he has a reason to kill (even trivial ones like being weak) .

If you like MCs who enjoy massacring everyone, then go for it.

Honestly, this novel is quite boring. Initially had my interest, but the plot quickly became dull with the MC repeatedly regressing and doing the same stuff over again just with different steps. Moreover, no matter how “OP” the MC seems, that’s only in relation to the other cannon fodder heroes and he stays as a s*ave to the system for a good portion of the novel where he’s forced to do the most just to graduate some bs education for hero’s. Really tried hard to read this to its end,... more>> but I really cant do it. <<less

This is currently one of my favourite, consistently updated novels on this site. The character development and story building is amazing. We are still finding stuff out about the mc's first play through 400 chapters in. A significant amount of characters are developed on and fleshed out, even beyond the mc's harem. What other novel has the MC go from a destructive, violent edgelord to a ... more>>

, I can say I've never been bored so far reading this. The action, adventure, hint of satire, along with the surprisingly romantic moments, all of them culminate into what I consider a masterpiece. <<less

The funniest WN I've read, a chaotic protagonist that acts pretty much exactly how I play RPGs. He's not just an emotionless machine like a lot of Chinese novels, and he's not terrified of women either. I highly recommend giving it a shot, so far it's my favorite novel I've found here. Even the ending was decent. Personally I dislike the last side story / epilogue, but the main story is so good I'll ignore it and leave it at 5/5

EDIT: I definitely understated just how much I dislike the... more>> last side story. Even now a year later I occasionally think about it and suffer, so do yourself a favor and skip that side story. The rest still stands though <<less

MC is a villain withouth any flavor, just a entitled little piece of s*. All his way of being just screams his bitterness, his actions are purely venting his venom, boring and pathetic.

The fantasy world is also conveniently build in such a way to justify and comply with his deturped mindset.

I don't dislike amoral carachters, but a choice must be made: either amoral MC, or mediocre and without carisma MC, both at the same time is unbereable.

This is a rare case when the name is justified: tr*sh is the best... more>> word to define the MC. <<less

its okay, but a little on the edgy side tbh. Seems to start out with an interesting twist with the Mc's intolerance of BS towards him and willing to get the kill, but starts to delve into pointless slaughter with little intrigue or catharsis for it. Also the long monotonous descriptions of things that don't f****** matter. Expect to pass a chapter or two with almost nothing happening. The characters aren't all too interesting, nor is the dialogue between them as scarce as it is. Overawe it has some fun... more>> moments, but starts to feel pointless.

2.5 STARS. Very mediocre <<less

MC is a petty psychopath. At first I thought he killed his companions coz it was one of those dark realities where everyone acts nice and fluffy only to manipulate and kill the MC in the end. Maybe one or two characters did intend to backstab him but everyone else is pretty generic as in a non dark fantasy. MC hates a mage girl coz she acts cute, hates elf queen coz she wants to save elves from s*avery, hates them for sharing exp and so on. He hates pretty... more>> much everyone for not developing technologically (even though he could change that but it doesn't even come to his mind).

He despises people for not having invented flushing toilets, sees them as exp and has no conscience.

Somehow he has about a knowledge of a medical doctor even after 10 years and flaunts it and despises people as barbarians who aren't worth of explaining sh*t to them.

It is mildly interesting and very slightly funny as it's a suppposed parody. <<less

It was truly fun to read the first few chapters, but by the time I reached chapter 30 I was already bored of the main character.

For starter the author presents him as your average high school kid, but every time the kid starts talking about science and the human body his knowledge surpasses that level. You know those kids that try to sound very smart by babbling on and on about complex things as if they were every day objects? That's the main character and it gets annoying fairly quickly.

And... more>> when it comes to side character, I can totally understand why he despises them but after some time reading he just comes off as petty and childish, and that is quite pathetic.

I'm guessing he eventually will start to improve, maybe change and learn something but it's getting tiresome to read on. <<less

This is, so far... fantastic. Having "learned his lesson" the first time through his quest to subjugate the Demon King, he found that following the "traditional" hero's path is frustrating and painful. Jaded from the cavalier treatment and nauseating tropes, he breaks away from it all. Unshackled from the local common sense, and not caring at all about the people around him, he's got no problem resorting instantly with violence to someone he doesn't like, or ignoring someone doomed to a cruel fate, or... any number of other expectation-busting activities... more>> that had me laughing out loud several times.

He's not evil... there's no sense of enjoying the carnage he creates (both accidentally and on purpose) ; he's just strong, and a sociopath. Hilarity (and massive violence) ensues. Entertaining read. I'm looking forward to more chapters. <<less

The MC of this novel is so refreshing. There is no cliche of isekai genre. Some of things I like about MC are.

Very logical

Uses the most efficient way to handle a problem.

Doesn't deviate from his ideals.

Follows Kazuma's principle

This novel can be summarized with "leaves much to be desired", the MC personality, the world setting, the lack of challenges, and the ending, all leaves much to be desired. Is an OK novel to read if you already finished up all the good ones and still crave some isekai, fantasy, overpowered MC. Some times you feel like something great is going to happens and it disappointing. I should have drop it but didn't hoping for a good ending.

This is probably the best isekai I have read so far. I Found myself laughing a lot while reading this parody on typical isekai novels.

MC doesn't want do be a dense harem MC that does every single useless quest from some random villager. That's why he can't go back home after killing the demon king and has to redo everything. So he decides to do everything himself since "righteous" party members do more harm than good. That being said MC himself isn't a good person either his hands constantly slip... more>> and end up around people's necks when he wants to ask them questions and there are some moments when people are just a bunch of exp for him. He also despises harems and can't be bothered to go after women because he just wants to go back home. But he sleeps around A LOT but the author doesn't go into detail about it which I'm thankfull for.

Overall I really liked the MC and the important side characters. A lot of jokes were repetitive but I still found them quiet funny.

The only things I didn't like was that we even followed regressions of other people I didn't really enjoy those a lot. Also some of the Power ups MC got towards the end just came out of nowhere. It just literally said something like "now I understand, I was mistaken about x" and then he gets a new power without any further explanation. <<less

This has become one of my favourite novels and I especially love how quirky the MC is... He is pragmatic and borderline psychotic as he kills beauties with a kiss, but it also made me think the romance would be just as thrifty (boy was I wrong).... Overall it was a light read and also a fun read. Though the ending leaves much to be desired it was ok nonetheless.

MC is a complete psycho with little to nk redeeming qualities. Author is extremely callous about r*pe, practically passing it off as a joke most of the time with MC seeming not to care in the slightest going as far as to suggest a heroine deserves to be sold into s*xual s*avery for hating humans.

It's a funnily serious story and you all should give it a try

In other isekai novels, author shows us how we definitely wouldn't behave in their world, but this novel is different. It shows exactly the thinking of normal student warped into the different world. It is much more realistic and that is what I like about it.
