A top hacker was chosen by the Lord God to be reborn into countless worlds, always as an expendable villain.

With no free will, every world became a dead end. Each of his lives ended tragically.

Finally, after wrestling control of the Villain System, this ace hacker decided to enact revenge. Even if his very bones were rotten, he’d choose to occupy the very heights of morality, if only on the surface.

Thus, he would change his fate as an abused slag.

To be honest..I had read the mixed reviews on this novel and was put off by the multiverse concept a bit. But then, back then I was still waiting for last few chapters of MDZS to complete ;)

Now, I decided to finally read it during a bored state induced due to fever. And I have only one thing to stay after looking at LWZ's thirst, this novel's thirsty ML actually made my day.

The concept is very different from the other BL/Danmei I have read and the feel more so.... more>> I liked the detached but at the same time longing attitude MC portrays in the novel.

Other than this, I just have one thing to say, I shouldn't have read the comments before. I could have read this gem sooner!!

Edit: I also like how it trolls all the worlds <<less

It's probably one of the best I've read so far. MC's and ML's relationship, characterization, and interaction is really cute~

The different world is always different from the previous worlds (Unless going back to the same world, of course), with sometimes the MC chasing the ML, the ML chasing the MC, or them being confused who's who!

The story's pacing is perfect for one that involves the MC world jumping, it isn't way too rushed and it doesn't progress way too slowly either.

Well, that's just my opinion~ Go on and try it out yourself to know exactly!

This is the first quick transmigration I've read and even if I've read countless quick transmigration novels right, I could still say that, this one is the best from all of those I've.

The MC is an OP character and so does the ML, and for the first time, I don't mind it. I love all arcs. Try to read it.

So where do I begin? For one, this has a definite "Will read again" seal. It's hard to choose which arc will be one's favorite (mines the first by the way) and something interesting is always happening. Like at first it will start with a relatively easy arc and then you're going to get bit*h slapped with how situations progress. It's almost like someone pulled the rug from under you or if you're playing a videogame. We go from level one to god-level. In all the ending was good.

Spoiler

Instead of the MC staying in the system the ML comes to his world. The most intense arcs are the one with the zombies and cultivation. The extra is based on the arc with the piano, which had a decent character that the MC did not literally destroy down to his core. That character gets to have a re-try for a happy ending. Even the MC found him interesting despite caring for all the worlds. The one that drags the most are the worshipper arc and modeling one in my opinion.

[collapse]

Worth a read! May ruin other world-hopping stories for some. Though not all hope is lost. Some out there will be good as well. :) <<less

Piece of advice: READ AN ENTIRE 2 ARCS BEFORE JUDGING. YALL BE THINKING THE VILLANS ARE 2D WHILE I LAUGH IN YOUR FACES. YOU ARE A WEAKLING THAT DIDN'T HAVE THE GUTS TO EVEN FINISH THE FIRST ARC.

Plot is cheesy?

Oh boy. System, duh. BUT he didn't die to get one, he never wanted one. He definitely did not enjoy that experience.[you find out early on]
Spoiler

this system controlled MC. MC didn't have a choice, otherwise he would die. He did things not for his own benefit like in those villain systems

[collapse]

If you don't like the MC. Screw you 'cause that's the point of character development. And that was executed quite beautifully.
Spoiler

MC goes through a world he did before meeting his lover. He played the piano. It was disgusting. Exact notes were played but where's the emotion? Whatever emotion he had was ugly. However, after the ML, when he played you could practically imagine how much better his mental state was. Free of the system and having felt love.

[collapse]

Villans? I actually cried for one. And another actually apologized. Everyone had their own problems, everyone had their own flaws. None of that "I saw you and I hated you" bull. Everything is explained. The closest to that would be when
Spoiler

everyone thought ML just liked MC for his blond hair and face

Jealousy, revenge, ambition. You can't say you haven't heard of these feelings.

Real world? Yes, it exists. But not happy ending just yet.

The MC is cliché?

- beautiful; obviously.

- really smart, clever, charming

- OP? Definitely, has limits. His "system" only works in the virtual worlds. The real world... you find out about this early on though
Spoiler

he's a hacker, that's it.

[collapse]

- The acting doesn't feel like acting. The roles feel like we find out a different side of him instead.

Spoiler

1st arc was all fluffy, we find out he's very vengeful and 110% gay. 2nd arc a woman forced herself on him, he throws up and he just seemed so defeated. No matter how much "being delicate" is far from his character, we at least know how badly he suffered while controlled by the system.

[collapse]

- Is like a freaking god to the ML

- Treats ML like a freaking god

The ML is cliché?

- domineering; obviously.

- hot, mature, overpossesive

- OP? yep. MC doesn't take advantage of that until he's had his "revenge".
Spoiler

ML is OP but to defeat a larger power he needed MC's hacking skills

[collapse]

- He is NOT MC's ragdoll toy. He has his own feelings and mind. He will do this and that FOR MC but when it comes down to it ML has his own desires and ideas.
Spoiler

MC realizes that when ML has amnesia and doesn't remember MC so doesn't chase him like usual. ML in the same arc has more feelings than the typical "baby I love you" he can be jealous, he can be mad.

[collapse]

- Makes us feel that ML is alive.

- COURTS MC before they do the do

- Gets COURTED by MC before they do the do

The MC is a young genius hacker who has been caught by a powerful something (whom the MC call Lord God) and is forced to be a villain in simulated worlds, with the system interfering whenever he tries to change his luck. However, he manages to take back control with his hacker skills and aims to take down the Lord God by changing the fates of the worlds he ends up in. Meanwhile, he’s clearly being followed by something. It seems to like him....a lot. He likes it too.

I must... more>> say, I had no idea this was BL when I first read it, but thankfully I like BL. Kez’s translated version is pretty mild, not very explicit, but you have to be able to deal with the MC having a male lover in each and every universe.

Plot-wise, it’s awesome. It’s episodic, with each ‘episode’ being a world the MC ends up in, so there will always be worlds that you like and worlds that you don’t like as much. There are some amazing world out there though.
Spoiler

The zombie apocalypse story especially deserves to be mentioned.

[collapse]
The story gets repetitive at times, with the MC’s friendly stalker often easily being identified and the MC usually being too OP to truly get in trouble. His chessmastering is often fun to read about though and, without fail, the author will hit you with a plot twist or change of world right when it starts getting annoying. The overarching plot of the stalker’s true identity and the MC’s escape from Lord God is also handled well. I couldn’t help but finish this in one go to find out the ending.

Also, don’t be put off by the mediocre translation of the earliest chapters (perfectly readable, but quite a few awkward sentences), the translation shows obvious improvement as the story goes on. <<less

It's a very good story. So much so that when I do not find other novels of the genre, I reread it again. I will not say anything but not to ruin things, but I can say there are some arches that made me cry. I particularly love the extra story, even though it has nothing to do with the main story. That too, I confess that it gave a little agony in my heart, but still it is very good.

Spoiler

It's happy ending.

I have to say, it was engaging and enjoyable. One of the best Bl chinese novels.

There are so many "system" novels out there, but this one is probably the best of the genre.

Each world is cliché and over used, and yet if you've read as many system/world hopping novels as I am, you'll find yourself remembering most of the story and not confusing it with other novels. The apocalypse arc is the best arc of its genre hands down, actually, if I am honest, each arc, wether it's modern, ancient... more>> or futurist, they are so great and unique, other novels can't compare. The protagonist and the male lead are just so great, you'll never mistaken them with the protagonists of other similar novels.

In other words, this is a cliché, one thousand times done and re-done plot, and yet it transcends itself and offers you an unique, enjoyable and rememberable ride. Thank you translators for bringing this gem and polishing it for us. <<less

Probably one of the most satisfying quick transmigration novels I've ever read! For a general breakdown:

    1. OP, slightly black-bellied, smart MC and powerful, overbearing CEO type ML. The trope doesn't get me all that excited anymore- BUT- it's done really well in this novel, so I enjoyed it a lot. Their relationship is also has a great dynamic and goes beyond the typical gong chasing the shou through the worlds trope.
    1. Diverse and satisfying worlds. The plots are also interesting which is the main reason why this is probably... more>> the one of the best QT novels out there. Usually it gets a little monotonous as the worlds go on, but in this case the plot is always rolling along and the story doesn't get consumed by subplots or get derailed entirely. In short, it feels like a complete novel rather than a bunch of shorts crammed together.
    1. Good translations. Sometimes I just can't get into a novel no matter how good it is because bad translations take away from it (no hate for translators tho it's real hard work), but that isn't the case for FOD. It's a fairly easy read, and definitely something you won't want to put down.
So that's a 4.5/5 from me. <<less

to start off I dropped this novel, I decided to read it because it was on the popular page for BL novels. I think it takes a certain type of person to enjoy this novel and I am not that type. Not to say that this novel is bad but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

A couple of things I enjoyed was the interesting stories/ world building and the idea that the ML is following the MC into the other worlds. My favourite story has to be arc 2... more>> where the MC is a painter.

However this story shouldn't be taken seriously. The MC is the biggest Gary sue I have ever seen and he develops very little. Every chapter you'll encounter at least one large paragraph describing how amazing the MC is. It gets really boring and I find myself skipping pages. If you're looking for something serious and thought provoking then this novel in its entirety is not the one. <<less

This is just sooo good.

Every world, every plot, every story, every genre, everything is just WOW. Period.

You're like getting a ton of epic story inside a very epic story! What could be so wrong?

The stories/worlds could each become a stand alone novel and could garner readers!

I have actually re-read it for like 3 or 4x already!

Ofc we have our own favorites!

This is a good novel and I really enjoyed reading it. This was the first novel where I've read that the the ML goes to a different world in every arc. This definitely help keep the interest level of each arch and and the development between the lovers is interesting as well. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best parts of this is that the ML isn't a pushover and the fact that he messes with his love interests and teases him is cute.

This is very episodic, which it can't avoid, what with the world hopping and all. Some of the stories I really liked, some not so much, though it helps the MC and the ML are somewhat consistent in personality from world to world. The MC can literally do everything and he does it better than anyone else so if super OP MC's piss you off, you might not like this novel. If you like a really well thought out and well played revenge sequence then I can think of at... more>> least two stories in this overall novel that I thought were well done in that department.

Spoiler

of all the stories I liked the apocalypse story the best, and the piano one was dark but good. I also liked the supermodel reality show, but that was almost all fluff and sugar, not really all that serious. I'm not a fan (at all) of ABO stories and the one where he was a priest and skitzo and licking the statues feet was just squick, but most were at least ok, even if they didn't wow me or were kind of boring (politics and court intrigue - man that story took forever to get through).

Here's my thoughts about this novel at first....

Hmmn. Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil? Interesting Title...

*scrolls down and reads the tags*

... more>> Yaoi Check

Omegaverse!? Woah! Heck yeah!

Male Yandere!? even more heck yess!!!

*scrolls down*

ongoing

174 chapters!? Completed (well except for the extras)

Five stars reviews!

Unique story line?

HECK MORE FREAKING YEASS!!!!

But I have a lot of other novels to read like LMW GDC PTSB SINP AND ETC......

Okay! Save it to list!!

THEN

My reaction after reading this

I HATE MYSELF AND REGRET NOT READING THIS RIGHT AWAY!

THIS IS BEYOND MASTER PIECE!

THIS SHOULDN'T BE ON YOUR WAITING LIST!

READ IT RIGHT AWAY!

WORTH TO READ!

Honestly when I read other reviews and maybe spoiled myself, I thought 'oh its that, okay' and I haven't read a novel like this like never (because clearly this master piece is one and only) So Me, the s*upid, just left it hanging in my lists for quite a while...

Then I started running out of novels to read...

So I said to myself 'Okay its time to check and read these precious treasures!'

I thought each time the MC travels from different timeline each arch would be cliche or would give me the impression of 'oh its like this again' hence would be boring like the other few novels I've recently stumbled upon to read for the mean time...

As a reader and also one who fancies to write fiction, one common fear is that 'Would we lose time if we start reading this and found out it wasn't what we expected or assumed to be?'

but no... this magnificent novel always gets you off guard every single time!

It's like you are reading different novels all at the same time!! and its pretty damn catchy how the author brilliantly manage to pull it off!

I mean who could pull this off better than this?!

NOW I CAN'T STOP READING IT! I'M HOOKED !!

Once you read it You'll read it again and again!

I love MC and the ML !!!

I love them!

The only thought I have about the novel is I think how the title mislead me even after reading the novel because as far as I can see, I don't see the MC, ZYS as an evil and all, I may be biased which probably am, but I just can't help to feel that the situation have twisted the MC to be cruel but he still prevails and he'd shown us that he still cares. If he is truly cruel why would he show kindness to [parents he encounters?] [or show affection to children and other characters?]

Another thing is I solely believe that ZYS is in fact just reflecting what human is, we treat people nice because they treat us nice, if they don't then we don't treat them nicely at all, hence I don't see the title to ZYS really wearing the devil's face and imposing as him at all.

Another is we know what 'pain' is hence, when ZYS helps other what we could call as innocent characters or bystanders who died and suffered on the side of the main story and in the eyes of ZYS who were still controlled and unable to do anything, that is another characteristic of humans that makes us relate and attach to not only to the story but to the characters especially the MC! We help others because we all know how terrible it is to be in pain and in this novel's case die again and again regardless how pitiful your situation is really is.

This novel is one where the MC prevails to be the main protagonists and kill of those posing protagonists that aren't heroes and heroines at all behind their masks. That those heroes and heroines are like those people in the world who likes to play the victim or takes other's hard work for granted to be famous! People in real life who twists, controls and destroys those who are truly pure and good hearts in our wretched society.

Over all, ALL TIME FAVE!! And this is WORTH TO READ! <<less

This was a great work! I have read QWFD about six times to completion, not to mention the many dozens of times I reread the chapters while it was still being translated. The author did an excellent job in creating the multiple worlds, and found a great way to connect them to the plot without lagging and making it boring. I found the developing romance to be superior compared to past novels I have read. One of my favorite aspects happens to be the length of the chapters. Some chapters... more>> in other novels tend to be so short and rushed that it does not draw me in, but with the chapter length in QWFD, I was satisfied and did not feel that rushed feeling. I was able to delve into the different worlds, as well as gain better insight in the character development as well as the plot. I have to give props to the translators to being so patient and hard working when it comes to translating QWFD. I know that several translators find even the shortest chapters to be difficult, but the translators who worked on QWFD were excellent. I highly recommend this novel. <<less

I just wish that once he got back to the real world that it didn't play out a lot like one of the other computer generated worlds. The whole drama with Nan Qing could have been left out and it would have been nice if they just low key lived happily ever after instead of the ML being the most powerful being in the galaxy like in ever other scenario they lived in.
