Hero Zhang Han was frustrated in life originally, but he stepped into the Cultivation World by a stroke of luck. Possessing divine natural gifts, he ascended into the disaster-crossing period step by step. He had imagined his life would not have any hardships anymore, but unfortunately incurred the god thunder since he violated the fate. After he woke up, he was surprised to find that he was reborn, going back a few years ago. He found that the world was different from what it used to be after his rebirth and he had a lovely daughter.

Zhang Han’s fate thus underwent a huge transformation. In the fast-paced urban life, he opened up a place for his daughter to have fun. Because of his daughter’s enthusiasm for food, he opened a restaurant, which attracted countless diners. His business was booming and money did roll in. In his spare time, he also wrote songs to earn extra income. At the same time, he performed a sweet love story with his daughter’s mother…

After his rebirth, he became a godly stay-home dad in the accumulation of experience. “Dote on my daughter and love my daughter” became his life creed. Although a few nasty guys occasionally appeared in his life, they were all beaten off by virtue of his mightiness.

Let’s take a look at how this godly stay-home dad lived in the city and how Zhang Han led his happy life.

Among the various genres of novels, I am happy with the genre of "father / son" and there is no excessive harem. And the novel GSHD is not monotonous. For the initial chapter there may be a number of chapters that I passed when MC and MF were still "wood" akward times and too slow until more than 100. And after that it began to form a romance that was not too tacky and the interaction between father's children was very funny and adorable. For ratings I give 4 stars... more>> as far as I read up to 1000 more. Looking forward to the continuation of Mengmeng growing up <<less

(Reading from the raws because I'm not very patient)

It's a fun read but has a lot of flaws that really drag the story down.

The biggest problem is the treasure hunting sections, there's no real excitement in them until afterward most of the time.

... more>> After that, it's mostly an issue with inconsistency, plot holes, plot armor, and (my favorite gripe in Wuxia) McGuffins.

Honestly, the slice of life parts are the most interesting parts of this story as they display a good dose of sugary family time that I've come to envy. There are a few nice battle scenes, but all of them are tied to family (and some of these are kinda set up in a rather obvious way), the ones that are not just feel... forced.

There is lots of repetition, lots of 'Ohhhh, that's so-and-so' and "Who-do-you-think-I-am" followed by "That's impossible!" and the like. It may get irritating, but it usually only lasts for a chapter or two at a time.

Lots of cliche stuff from other xianxia and Chinese system (but without the system) type genres thrown into the mix as well.

Overall, a nice read if you're bored. Not the worst thing I've seen, nor the best. <<less

I don't like the ML's personality. He is too arrogant and selfish. I hate how he treats the FL in the beginning despite her giving birth to his daughter. His attempt to bring out his daughter out to play without the FL's permission shows his awful personality.

I enjoyed read this novel so I will write some pros and cons in my opnion.

Pros:

  • It is a warm story about a fauther and daughter (and later the wife), and it is really interesting see how the MC start to change as the story goes and the relationship with his family
  • There are susprisingly some good side characteres, in particular the MC disciple
  • Until now no s*upid chinese patriotism (excluding the name change, that was bizarre and made no sense)
Cons

  • It's really annoyng how the MC behaves, even if make sense due his past
  • The author clearly knows nothing about parenting
  • All this "everyone have to workship the MC, he knows everthing and can solve any problem

Even romance novels are not this exaggerated, best that best that, most expensive that and why tf is she an actress for a shitty company, and idk I haven't read much to understand all of the backstories but I doubt we will ever hear something about this but I don't care since nothing makes sense.

plus the MC reminds me of some people I have read about when trying to understand nudism, and some dude was a nudist with his wife and taking photos of her and posting them online, and... more>> getting h**ny from the comments, like come on I hate my memory, it remembers only shitty stuff, so I can't read it when I will only imagine the MC like this, being this dude that gets h**ny and happy when he sees people desiring his partner.. like urgh.. I will rather read about those possessive CEOs that marry the best woman and yet dislike anyone desiring her, not getting h**ny over that... both my stomach and brain will have to risk their life in order to read this so sadly I can't do it. <<less

Tho the FL is kinda annoying in the first hundred chapters it will get better and better. I like how the MC spoiled his daugther and treat her like a top treasure. The fluffy feeling in this novel is 5 star.

Recommended for those who like to read Urban cultivator who reincarnated or reborn.

this story is the best I've read of its kind... but that doesn't make it a good story...

I do not understand why, when a cultivator is reborn in our world, it must, necessarily, hide a secret society of cultivators!

moreover, I will come back to some of the arguments already said by other critics:
-I don't like how arrogant the MC (especially at the start). some say that he can afford to be because he has taken bad habits from his old life and cannot change overnight... BUT he changed overnight!... more>> suddenly he has a daughter and he decides that she will have priority over everything else! he suffered tribulation and failed! how can he remain arrogant?
-the story is relatively sexist... first with the change of name of her daughter, but also in the submission of his wife and the denigration of women in general...

otherwise, I don't like how everything is too simple! the MC and his companions never arrive too late! enemies even patiently await reinforcements from allies of the mc! the MC behaves in the same way as his enemies, but for him, it is justified!

by cons, I saw comments that disparaged the fl... and I do not agree too... she can not know how targeted she is and has no reason to doubt the good will of most people who target her...

in the end, I don't know if I recommend this novel... this is the best I have tried in this category, but still too insufficient... <<less

You will like this novel if you:

  1. Enjoy slice of life to the core. It's fine at the beginning. Although the pace is slow, it's entertaining. But seriously, one day spans multiple chapters.
    Spoiler

It's nothing but daily life with no clear focus. I haven't read it to the end but I guess it will lead the MC taking his family out of Earth, because there's cultivation.

    [collapse]
  2. Can endure multiple misunderstandings. (I can't, my endurance is low)
  3. Are fine with multiple genres. I like all the genres incorporated but it's becoming a mishmash of all genres combined as you read further.Cultivation. Cooking. Showbiz. Underworld Gangs. Childcare.
  4. Like omnipotent MC. Though it's understandable that he has over 500 years to cultivate whatever talents he has. It was even explained in the novel but... it is so freaking exaggerated. There are no challenges at all. The side characters have more decisions to make and more character growth than the MC.
My evaluation of this novel:

Not too bad.

Honestly I can only recommend this Novel, while the Start is a bit annoying since it seems to mirror most of the young Master cliche Storyline the story gets better and better and am really sad that there are currently only 56 Chapters translated since it got me hooked. Anyway really began to like the Story from chapter 35 onward. At least read to this point since it gets a lot better after the beginning at least in my Opinion, since MC seemed like a typical Young Master MC as*hole... more>> at the start. <<less

this is very underrated, if you see the plotline, is nothing new. But the way author make them full of emotion is very good. For example, I knew MC will slap a lot of people, but the interaction with his daughter and wife, makes me smile. This is what a cultivator should have. As the old word says: The sword technique is the same, but without sword intent, you cant bring out the true power.

Commercially its 3 stars. It can't be sold like hot cakes because It's a not self insert MC and also not harem. Fights could be evaluated from okay to boring. MC isn't completely zero from the start so the MC relatively didn't suffer significantly in his initial rebirth stage. And MC didn't throw his Immortal Treasure Hoarding Monarch temperament even though he is a mortal now.

Generally could be rated as 3.5 to 4. It can't be lower because all readers appreciates character growth. MC's attitude is still the 500 year... more>> old Immortal Treasure Hoarding Monarch but he just keep on rebuilding it to suit a new life with his daughter. Repeating what the author said, he will change mostly his (godly?) morals teaching to his daughter because of the mother. The process of his change for his daughter's good is very adorable and decisive.
Frustrating drama doesn't drag too much but not too quick too. <<less

It's kinda like RFTIW but is softer and gentler. A return-from-another-world story where the MC restarts his cultivation and straightens his past mistakes. It's very heartwarming I guess, pretty much the type of novel I'm looking for after reading a lot of never ending full-of-killings kind of novels.

The translations are slow and I hope it'll pace up, I like the story very much even though it has very few chapters right now.

The good:

This story is super cute and makes you want to keep reading. The MC is a great dad and the daughter is super cute.

The bad:

... more>> There is a lot of pointless filler about food in this novel. I dont understand why I have to read a full chapter describing a dumpling.

The MC is super underpowered. There are a lot of people stronger than him on earth. He was able to destroy planets with the wave of his hand in his last life and now he can only destroy a tree. His cultivation is way to slow. He should already understand the laws and have overpowered skills. I cant understand why he can only level up with treasures.

There are several troupes that are pretty much constant in this book that author uses as all-in-one tools for content and to slowly climb towards the end. Those include, but are not limited to, something like FL always getting into trouble, MC's child crying because of something and then the clutch cultivation increases timed precisely to be enough at the time for MC.

Strictly speaking those aren't too bad I guess, but because the book runs so much so on preset rules it does take away from the quality of the... more>> story I feel like. For example FL's character is absolutely one of the most horrendous and shittiest attempt at writing a real person there ever was. She's horrible, every breath she takes pretty much stinks up the room and every word or idea that comes out of her is always against everything MC stands for. And Somehow the MC manages to 'fall in love' with her, even though she treats him as less than tr*sh in the beginning. Eventually they kind of manage to reach an understanding and I guess you could say her "character grew" but it's more like "absolute f*ckface" was ticked off her character setting- otherwise she's still the same single celled organism.

The whole plot setting is really confusing too. MC is supposedly some kind of a overlord, end level cultivator character, but he's really not though, is he? He's struggling to deal with the tiny martial art shitters back in earth. The single device in the plot to keep it 'exciting' is that he never really tries to cultivate, at all. He just occasionally looks for ways to get treasures to enhance his masterpiece of a chimpanzee or to create a pill for himself. Then due to the preset setting, he barely manages to find the whatever f*ck he's missing at the time and levels up the point where he can not die to his enemies.

That's the big point for me too, his enemies. Everyone always becomes his enemy. He has no strength to fight them, he has his family to take care off, he doesn't have any power in society- he has nothing. But he always keeps making more and more enemies and allowing it to happen again and again. It's just so jarring. Why couldn't he just cultivate in peace for like a month and then be safe? Well that was rhetorical question, we all know the answer is because of the plots premade setting.

It's just one of those stories that feel like the characters were dehumanized in a manner that has them create inhuman solutions to problems they're having, solutions that do not actually in any way benefit them- but are merely forced due to plot setting. There is some pretty interesting, though very mushy, childcare and slice of life content but it's basically less than secondary due to the stressful way everything else is created in the book. <<less

The story's entertaining, a nice relationship dynamic. The female lead is more of a character and less of an object or plot device, which is a usual trope for Chinese novels.

Only real complaint: the translation ranges from mediocre to truly terrible, just straight machine translation with no proofreading. It's a little better now, but the first hundred or so on Tapread are borderline gibberish.

It's honestly bizarre reading this because usually in Chinese novels, the main character is always the one that attracts some scumbag who just want to bully the MC but lo and behold, the role has been reversed! The male lead is now respected and feared, with numerous women fighting for his affection. Then you have the female lead who wants to become a top celebrity, but she is getting bullied by her boss and co-workers.

It's like reading one of those typical "rich CEO, cold young master" romance novels, except you... more>> are reading it from the male lead's perspective. The female lead gets bullied because of jealousy and the male lead is the guardian angel who solves all her problems.

I've got to say, it's quite a nice change of pace from all those overly dramatic novels where there's always some bullsh*t happening around the MC.

PS: Check out babelchain, they have like over 500 chapters for this novel. Yes, it's MTL, but it's 90% readable. <<less

The story is interesting and the MC is a nice character. His daughter is cute too. HOWEVER, I'm taking away a star due to the FL. Her personality is such a turn off and everytime I read a chapter where she talks, it's always about fighting with the MC and just trying to stir up some trouble. Super petty and arrogant too. So I just hope that in the later chapters that at least her character improves.

Its good

Typical story of the father spoiling his kid

But the romance part as of chp49 is kinda bland and I assume its going to be like ceo wife where it will take some time for the romance to get going.

After being taken by a different translator the novel turned to sht, the previous translators didnt even check the quality of translation the translator does before passing the novel.

3 cuz of bad translation and slow af slice of life

Edit:

I give it 4 now cuz the translation gradually got cleaner
