“Yesterday I asked my husband: What would you do if you transmigrate into an ancient woman?

Answer: adapt to society, integrate to the new life.

Ask: Even give birth to children?

Answer: Of course, in order to survive anything would do, don’t you think only woman could adapt easily.

Ask: what if in a rich family with multiple wives and one husband?

Answer: The answer is the same as above, can endure it physiologically let alone psychologically, to be in love with ancient stud horse is looking for fault yourself, it couldn’t be better just to enjoy the riches that you have, no need to work like ox and horse like this life.

I didn’t expect my husband to be this swift and fierce, I hugged and kissed him wildly several times!”

I enjoyed this slice-of-life story. Its hard to say what its focus is. Main character is a man who transmigrates to a woman but he still considers himself as a bis*xual man. His thoughts are of a male perspective which is interesting. His goal is to just live well.

Its a short novel but really good.

One word - BLAND.

There are no feelings or emotions involved. The MC is not attached to anyone nor loves anyone (May be his sons a little). The rest wont matter. He does his work and handles responsibilities. Period. There is no romance here. Basically he has no feelings and doesn't feel anything for his parents, husband, in-laws all of them.

There not many dialogues either. It always the MC thinking this happened and that happened. I know the story is small, but some important things to be explained are skipped. Just... more>> one line about it. <<less

I want to say that the gender-bender tag is useless but it works really well. Due to the fact that our MC simply doesn't give a shit, this story is fascinating in how, despite it being in the first-person perspective, it feels detached from the setting. This is a short but fulfilling, in quality and volume, story about our MC who got married and what comes following it. Dealing with concubines, dealing with in-law relationships, and dealing with her husband.

Maybe it's because I'm biased toward calm protagonists but I enjoyed reading this story. MC is very generous. Just in my opinion, she is too good for the ML.

Fugui Ronghua is well written short novel. Felt like a dairy from point of female lead (or male lead- it is gender bender so). To her mother-in-law, he/she was “easy to raise” and knows how to enjoy life. Which I agree. Male was okay. If there will be extras about children it will be wonderful.

A highly recommended novel to run away from a heavy scheming one. I have read almost all novels with Ancient-china theme and tired of them until I found this hidden fresh light gem. The story is light less scheming and easy to read. Overall it's a good novel and worth to read.

I MTL this novel after reading translator's comment and I gotta admit, this novel deserve the glowing reviews.

Spoiler

Some might think that the MC is Mary Su (and she kinda is) but at least MC is very likeable.

And if you think ML is s*upid for settling for MC's 'fake' love, then you also must consider their time period's culture and necessity.

It's a good novel to read when you want something simple to read in one sitting.

There wasn't much intense moment or table-flipping plot twist, but it's entertaining and makes me feel good anyway. Basically, it follows an ordinary day to day life of a main wife of a second son of an aristocratic family. She wasn't malicious or scheming, instead she's calm, collected, and generous. I love how she stayed true to her purposes and goal of a peaceful life throughout the time she raised her sons or when she... more>> handles the absurdity of a concubine and her sister in law.

The ML wasn't bad either. He's refreshing from all the omnipotent ML we see in other novels. He's not perfect, and he definitely had his part of s*upid actions, so it's fun to follow his character development as he become a more mature person. He's simple and likable, and also shared the similar goal of peaceful life with the FL. I think, even though till the end FL never fell for her husband, they're still a match and is perfect with each other.

If you love a wholesome slice of life novel (like me), I see no reason for you to skip this one. However, if you're looking for a face slapping novel with heavy plots and harem intrigue, then I suggest to skip this one and head to read The Job of an Imperial Concubine. Either way, have fun reading! <<less

I loved how realistic it was but I didn't expect it to be so slice-of-life. I think it would have been a lot more interesting if the MC married into the imperial harem.

Even till the end, the MC didn't fall in love with the ML but kudos to her for doing her best and achieving all she could in her circumstances.

3.5 what a strange book (in a good way maybe?). Basically, we have a bis*xual male MC who has prior experience in polygamy, who then transmigrated to into a female in ancient china to then, show the most traditional Chinese values of women in ancient china ever that I've read in a book.

Real virtuous wife vibes by maintaining the traditional ancient Chinese values of women. This is probably the most realistic depiction of a smart autocratic Chinese women in the past as first wife in a fairly relaxed life -... more>> knowing your marriage is not love but a requirement that u merely need to make comfortable for yourself +with less drama.

It's wild how traditional it is despite its premise lol. I'm kind of flabbergasted. I did enjoy this but I will recognize it's faults of TELLING. God, if it just showed more... And was more fleshed out it would be amazing. It does miss out on nuances bc of the first person pov, exhibit:
Spoiler

she realizes that her 2nd son is going to be cold bc of the neglect from his father, but she's glad for it bc he'll be more responsible in response and grow up quicker bc she wants to (I'm paraphrasing) make sure he grows up like "a real man who goes through hard sh*t without batting a lash. She doesn't want to raise no sissy" which yea understandable but also she's so sure her son doesn't have any emotional trauma from the neglect at all lol I'm like ok & that's the problem with the writing again, it's just telling us and we have to accept it without seeing a scene or proof. It's a shame bc whenever the author does more details and shows scenes, it's very engaging. It's just too rare. (Also it was very toxic masculinity in that boys can't have feelings or be in their feels without being seen as not competent as a man... upheld by the MC by that statement lol)

[collapse]
you know what, I'm not even sure the MC considers themselves as a women on an internal level. Could even be considered a trans bis*xual polygamist MC lol so it is interesting and that is why it's so flabbergasting how traditional it got lol. <<less

I don't know why people are saying that the MC is indifferent or is disdainful towards the supposedly *jealous woman*. His thinking is different, of course. You need to take in consideration his previous life experiences cause he was already married with a son supposedly in his thirties. His sexuality helps him to adjust more easily but it doesn't really play any other part in it. And yeah, of course his thinking and pov is gonna be different because he never saw himself as woman he was a man deep... more>> down (as the author mentions several times which can be a bit annoying to others). And admit it, our present society itself treats men and women differently more often than not, otherwise the term 'feminism' wouldn't be oyt there. And I believe it affects how a normal boy and girl thinks. So I would say read it from an outsider pov just like reading a diary and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

And don't expect and fluff and the kind please. For one, there is no romance or fluff tag. If it turned into a romance at tge end instead I would've been disappointed.
Spoiler

The male love interest was an a**hole. Good for him that he is in ancient times. Because if he was in modern times I would want to slap him myself

Note: I will address MC as he/him because MC never considered himself a woman.

Characters: 5/10

Plot: 7/10

... more>> Concept: 8/10

Annoyance meter: 0/10

Overall: Omg actually pretty decent representation in a CN ancient era book????

This book is one simple thing:

A hidden gem.

The MC is one of the very few characters who are described as bis*xual outright by the author. As a bi person, I find that I really liked the way the author represented him. I was a bit off putted at first by how the author made him an ex-playboy, but eh. It didn't impact the story much so I didn't mind. But overall, he acted like a normal human being who had a personality other than being bi LMAO.

(I think he's also aromantic (not as*xual though cause he was a playboy lmao) but that's just my opinion.)

The story isn't much to speak of. I gave it a 7 because I enjoyed the ride and I found myself invested throughout.

MC was transmigrated into a 3-year-old girl's body in a well off family and he was wedded off to a handsome husband in a well off family. This story is best read as a slice of life. Don't think of it as a mind-blowing groundbreaking, amazingly built story filled with intelligent schemes and unexpected plot twists. You could take it as a compliment or an insult, but I think the author wrote this when they were bored on a train and thought, 'hey! This idea is becoming pretty decent! Let's just write this for fun~' and they just kept writing until they got a bit bored and then ended it. Then one day they thought, 'let's publish this!' Then hired an editor or edited the story themselves, and then published it.

The concept was something I didn't expect and I REALLY liked. A man transmigrating into a woman in ancient times? Hell yeah! Not a BL? OH MY GOD! HE'S BI AND ACTUALLY IS?! JESUS CHRIST!

Characters in this aren't much to say. They aren't very interesting tbh, but they're surely entertaining lmao.

The MC throughout had a very monotone feel to him, but it doesn't mean that he was one dimensional. More... Indifferent.

I think he just had his fill in his last life as a successful career man and now, as a rich lady in ancient times who couldn't do anything other than stay at home, look pretty, take care of kids and 'take care' of the home? Well, he did just that and he made sure to enjoy it. MC basically spent his time relaxing and just enjoying a laid back life filled with good food, cute kids, beautiful women, books and nice, fresh, unpolluted air.

I see many reviews saying that MC is 'perfect', but I personally think that he just does not give a sh*t and just wants to have a relaxing life. You guys have to remember that he has the advantage of being a man in his previous life. He also had the advantage of being in modern times where people value themselves and others more and also having the advantage of foresight about people's views in ancient times and its unspoken rules someone at his 'age' wouldn't understand and/or know. The rest of it comes down to MC not wanting to bother and other people misinterpreting him (That one is pure luck tho LMAO)

Best way to read? Do it on the toilet or when you're waiting in line somewhere. Don't expect anything mind-blowing and keep in mind that this is 20 chapters long for a web novel LMAO. It's light, it's easy and it's entertaining. Give it a read! <<less

lmao I love this aromantic main character. I don't think he knows what aromanticism is, nor does this novel mention it, but the way the main character looks at romance and decides not to do romance gives tons of aromantic vibes. I'm living for it.

here's one paragraph demonstrating this:... more>>
Spoiler

I envied Fan Ceng a lot because my letters were fascinating. There are always pictures with exciting stories of my sons as well as interesting things written by my sons. I also feel sorry for myself because Fan Ceng's letter was so mushy that I didn't want to read it for the second time. After reading it, I quickly smoothed out my goose bumps and placed the letter to the bottom of the box.

[collapse]
Fan Ceng is the main character's husband.

But other than that, the novel isn't that deep. I really like it and it's objectiveness. It feels good to me. It's a five because it's able to completely accomplish what the author wants it to (i feel like). It's not far-reaching, but it's incredibly unique in it's perspective.

I don't sense any disdain for the schemes like described by another reviewer. Also, the MC isn't totally lazy. He fulfills her duties and stuff properly and without any oversights. He doesn't fall in love because he "chooses" not to (which is what aromantics do when they don't know they're aromantic), and not because of his previous life. He didn't even seem to be in love with his wife in the original world. Just got married to a woman to "settle down."

There's no power grabs. However, the MC clearly makes her moves to keep her power, and also move her husband in the right direction. <<less

I can't believe anyone would hate a story like this
The relationship between the spouses was really an example of a successful relationship
Many novels depict for us what happens at the first sight and that flame that burns from just looking into the eyes of the other in their first meeting, but it is rare to see how the relationship develops over time, how they manage to break the barrier when that flame disappears How can they deal with each other's flaws and the sacrifices that come with it... more>> when only respect and good treatment between them remains.
How do they create a new flame out of these feelings?
This novel was one of the best I've read <<less

A very realistic story. I think the only unrralistic thing is actually MC. Okay I understand where she came from, she was previously a man, thoughf like men, etc etc. But she was just perfect. It's hard to believe.

But anyway I thinks this reminds me of a short novel called 'prodigal son', if I remember right. ML both fell in love when they saw MC help them through everything. But I still like that story better lol. It was more heartwarming.

Honestly this is the first time I have come across a flawed lead.. Literally he is the type who makes mistakes but doesn't condone violence and his personality is in line with how ancient people lived.. Common you got to believe that not all people will have one wife for rest of his life even though the got together in the end but it was with his own observation not spontaneous which can be understood from arranged marriage.. Also it make me notice that not all transmigration will lead a... more>> person to be matched with best or perfect lead instead it's your own effort.. The only drawback I felt was MC was too perfect but I liked her kindness and how she had her own bottom line.. Overall this was a nice read.. Would loved it if there was more chapter..? <<less

This was a good read. Not too in-depth but was a fast read. If you are like me, you can finish it under 2 hours.

The MC is a male who transmigrated to a body of young girl in ancient time. Due to his disposition, he knew there is nothing he could do but to accept life as it is. Try to live it as best as he could. I like the MC, and he is very similar to the MC in The Virtuous Wife. He is just enjoying life and... more>> loves his sons. Because of woman's standing in society at that time, he tries to make the best of it. I like that, why bother yourself with something like gaining attention from a stud horse male? Is a man like that really worth your time?

Some might find the MC too detached, and it's true. But what do you expect from someone who has had a better life before? He is forced into this life and can't change it. He might as well enjoy what he has. I like the MC's cool headedness. I never do like stud horse male lead. You do get to see another side of of MC after the birth of his sons. MC really loves his sons.

Following is a spoiler to some story detail, and why I like the MC the way he is.

Spoiler

Even if the ML do fall in love with the MC after marriage, it doesn't change the way he acted before. Men of time time will always be like a stud horse male. You might find one that breaks from the mold. But during that time, it was socially acceptable and expected of men to take many wife's and concubines. I don't except him to change, but the MC have no need to wait in him.

[collapse]

Also, the reason why I have been using the male pronoun for the MC is because he identify as male. He might have a female body, but he is still the man he was from modern time. You often get to see how he thinks of his current disposition and the others around him. Through those thoughts, you can see he still think the same way. His thoughts and action aren't force and flows well. <<less

It's deep. Don't use modern commonsense to judge this novel as ancient times have different word view compared to us modern people (which made me uncomfortable from time to time). It's realistic enough (at least for me) and give me a lot of things to think about and realize. Depending on who and how you read it, we may not even see the same world and have different experience.

To sum it up in simple word "It moved me".
