I AM SO f*ckING HAPPY I CHOSE TO READ THIS GOSH

This kept getting recced to me but I didn't like the summary and I read some of the reviews that confirmed a few of my assumptions. But the average rating and the tags pulled me in and something in the back of my head just kept telling me to give this a chance. I kept it on my bookmarks list for so long until I finally hit a dry spell and decided to give this a chance since I could... more>> always DNF it.

I usually give stories like this a 10chapter limit before I decide to continue or drop it but by the first chapter, I was immediately hooked.

The premise of the ML having the mind reading thing was one of the things that put me off from reading, and I checked the reviews and agreed with the comment that there would be much power imbalance between MC and ML. But mein gott I am so frigging happy ML had that ability because it helped facilitate communication. It also becomes a hurdle for the ML and part of the conflict that needs resolution. So beautifully painfully delicious reading lol

I actually enjoyed it. I didn't think I would. And now I am just so happy I got to pick this up. The translators did an amazing job.

I love the MC so much and appreciate the ML. They're slightly OP lol but they're not perfect but it what's makes them likeable. ML's ex was also a necessary character for the ML to grow. The ex wasn't just a random Cannon fodder to facilitate MC and ML's relationship but was quite a complicated character. I didn't like him but I understood his existence.

Also on that note, honestly majority of the story can almost be said to have a romantic subplot because there was no ambiguity between MC and ML while ML was with his ex. The story is focused on two stories: MC's growth in the industry, showing his honest bright character despite his circumstances, and the ML recovering his passion for acting and realizing how incompatible he was with his ex. A story about two different and yet very similar people with harmonious desires coming together in the end. Not to complete each other as two halves of a whole, but two people who build each other up. <<less

While I really enjoyed some parts, especially the beginning, the more I think about it the more dissatisfied I feel with the ML's development. I feel like the consequences of his ability was brushed off too quickly and his decision to keep secrets from MC goes against the entire setup of the novel. We see step-by-step how open communication and honesty becomes the cornerstone for the ML so him just deciding to lie felt awful. A betrayal honestly and if the MC ever finds out, the relationship would blow apart.... more>> He's just going to invade his lover's mind for his entire life and not tell him, and I can't feel happy about that.

also, as much as I like the MC and how sweet he is, it's also very unrealistic. He's gone through dark times and it's natural for people to have the occasional bad thought or impulse. Having bad thoughts doesn't make you a bad person, it's how you actually act that defines you. But the MC is too pure too perfect, and halfway through the novel I couldn't help but wish he felt more real. The ML is attached to his pure thoughts but it felt like a missed opportunity for the ML to not rely on his mind powers so blindly or realize that he's become judgemental in a different way. People are complex, and I think some of the tooth rotting fluff chapters could've been exchanged for a little bit of introspection at the end to make the story more cohesive.

The novel has some really good solid portions and I couldn't put it down, but to give it 5/5, I'd have to completely shut down my brain and pretend the ML and MC are perfect.

edit: I will add though, that I disagree with the comments calling ML scum for breaking up with his ex. To me it was more like the inevitable break up just got sped up because of the mind read powers. It's actually a really good example of how not communicating, being insecure and lying about little things can damage a relationship beyond repair. You only get so many chances before the other person loses trust in you. <<less

The story actually portrays the most basic human emotions. I love the overall plot of this story and the characters, especially the MC. I rlly wanna eat this dog food for a life time 😭

CHARACTERS

MC: Pretty OP? He's naive, pure, and the cutest creature I have met rlly. I love him so much. He pretty much have a big backer of a family and husband, but he never took advantage of it. People around him tends to help and pamper him unconditionally bcs his personality is rlly lovable. bruh, I... more>> love lil sappling so much. At the later chapter though, it became more focused in his relationship. I mean, I kind of understand bcs he lack that love since childhood, and he rlly adores ML and became interested in acting bcs of him. I'll also become brainless if my idol literally became my boyfriend (in my dreams). I mean his development was already shown for at least 80+ chapters of the story, and scattering dog food after they got together after the very long wait, I'm rlly satisfied.

ML: You'll actually hate him at first. He's not likable that much when he was with his ex. I mean, I grew to love him after, but he rlly just wasn't that likeable when with his ex. He's pretty much a good guy from the very start of the story. He's gentle and ready to help. He's also a good lover towards his ex, I just rlly dislike if ML's or MCs of the story I'm reading is in a different relationship 😅.

Spoiler

The way ML also unconditionally supports MC even though they're not together yet lol.

When MC was claustrophobic and he found out while they're shooting, he was really worried and was ready to approach, but realizes the MC was able to overcome it by switching those fears into the character he was playing after seeing him (ML).

When he realizes he was afraid of heights and was ready to support MC, but he was already in the act as a robot and overcame it yet again by himself.

He's always ready to support MC at anytime subtlety, but bcs they're not together, he was afraid of crossing his boundaries. He's also pretty much shows that he's so proud of MC for overcoming his fears (like when he talked abt hus kidnapping) and for getting where he is with his own talents and hard work. bruh...

[collapse]

Spoiler

If you're curious, in my (bias?) opinion, ML was a pretty good lover even towards his ex. He respects LLY boundaries and actually pampers him at first. After getting that power, he keeps on trying to understand, support, give security, and assure his ex multiple times. Asking him if he has any problem and to try to talk to him. He always try to communicate and give chances to his ex even after finding out how nasty his thoughts were. This is actually where I'm a little satisfied. It didn't actually dragged pretty long, but I just can't stand how frustrating it is lol.

[collapse]

LLY: He's actually pretty likeable at first. The author built his character pretty well. From the very start, he was actually designed to be a person with a lot of insecurities bcs of his upbringings. You can't really blame him that much bcs it's bcs of his bff that he start thinking abt tricks and sh*ts like that. What I disliked abt him is the way he lets his insecurities eat him. He tends to self-pity and also unconsciously took advantage of ML (kind of a hypocrite but I understand). He lets everything gets to his head, and his thoughts weren't actually pure bcs of jealousy to MC. Not just jealousy bcs of ML, but he was already jealous from the very start when he saw the MC not eating any NG compared to him in their debut. He's not actually very pure from the very start inside, but at least he was a pretty good guy at that time. He doesn't like those underhanded tricks at first, but he lets his agent/bff lead him by the nose again and again. I think, when he made the very first decision of getting his bff as his agent and letting his insecurities eat him, it was already the start of his downfall.

Spoiler

I love the author that at least by the end, he became happy and successful in the industry. He just needs a little simulation and to escape from the shadow of the ML so he won't constantly worries abt his image.

[collapse]

Spoiler

I think, the author did a pretty good job in building his character growth and for planning the reason of his break up with ML. It was the best decision for the both of them so they can take a break and get their life back on track. They're both breaking and it's already toxic to the point they don't even understand each other anymore no matter how they talk. Breaking up was the best step for them to really realize what they really want and what they're really looking for.

[collapse]

The rest was actually a pretty common occurrence in entertainment industry. It's actually normal to block another artist in the industry if someone felt threatened and you have a more powerful company. It's normal especially in countries where there are many entertainments that are in rivalry to each other, especially with rookies.

Overall, the plot is really good.I really love both the MC and ML. I also love the daily dog food lol. It's quite fragrant 🤣. I also wanna read them in the variety show, the adventure one after they came out. I feel like, it would be a good part especially if it was a little longer. Wouldn't complain abt that. In short, it's worth it. I might reread it reallyyyy soon 🤭. <<less

I don't know what to say...

I really liked this novel till roughly ch. 99... anyway when they finally got together it seems like author lost her mind..

Smart and cool character like Ji Mian become brainless love fool that is fooling around and making out with Xiao JiaShu EVERYWHERE... Who cares about the cast? Who cares about friends? Passersby, well they're just invisible... Lets just hug and kiss... Oh I became hard? Well thats just a natural reaction, nothing to be shamed!!! All come and see!!!

And ShuShu a cute and pure... more>> boy became h**ny wild dog that doesn't care about filming (I thought acting was his everything?). And now he doesn't care about delaying recording, he doesn't care about director and cast, him making out with Ji Ge is the priority!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!
Its like this smart characters all of the sudden had their brains eaten by zombies... It's like they go from 1 to 100 in 3 seconds...

Spoiler

Conffecion -> s*x the very next night -> get married in 2 months !!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!

[collapse]

It took them so long to get to know each other... Ji Mian was so careful with his past relationship he invested so much effort and time and then all of the sudden with ShuShu he skip all the steps... after getting together nothing is important... JiaShu doesn't really care about his family not their opinion
Spoiler

he fu**ing get married without even telling anyone he got a boyfriend! where is all the love he has for his mother? I remember him loving and cherishing her so much... not ever wanting her to be sad or angry and now what? Did dog eat his consciousness !?!?!

[collapse]

I'm speachless... a fine novel... turned to be such a mess in the end...

I personally suspect that author got bored and rushed it at the end...

If she wanted to and invested more time to slowly develop their relationship, if she included their family members and friends, she could have made it in to a very good novel...

Sad Sad Sad...

I'm dropping... <<less

This is the first review I made in a very long time. This is rare occasion since I dislike wasting my time commenting. I cannot express how I love this couple so damn much. Xiao Jia Shu, the MC, I honestly find him adorable to death and want to gobble him up.

Spoiler

His personality tend to cause misunderstandings with others, but fortunately with the ML's power, Ji Mian finally found the cinnamon roll that is MC underneath villainous behavior. Their romance is realistically paced so even if I impatiently wanted them to hook up with lust right away, I still would have preferred it this way. The ML fell HARD for the MC without him realizing until much later, and when he did after some trifles, Ji Mian confessed to the MC when he realized how important Jia Shu were to him.

After that point, the romance blossomed beautifully. ML holds MC dearly and they were truly happiest when they are with each other. I greedily and joyously swallowed all dog food fed to me. I expected some blackening with the ML, but I love that with the ML's ability to read Jia Shu's mind, there's literally zero chance of that happening since they love each other to death and couldn't bear to be apart for a day.

What more refreshing is the familial love between MC and his mother. It is so rare to see in novels these days amongst dog blood novels and obsessed love. I cried so many times when every time Jia Shu encountered hardships at first, he had his mom there for him. I truly love this novel 1000000/10

I read the MTL to the end. The ending is a happy one, so I have no complaints at all

Like the description says, the story is about Film Emperor Ji Mian (ML) who experiences an accident and develops an ability to read minds. Xiao Jiashu is the MC who has a seemingly arrogant exterior but an incredibly warm, sweet, naive and kind interior. It's a slow burn romance about fixing misunderstandings, falling in love and the show biz lifestyle.

Certain moments deal with CN and society's views on homosexuality– As a lesbian myself I was especially affected by Xiao Jiashu's mother.

Spoiler

"If you change I'll love you like before"

This particular quote from Jiashu's mother cut deep. I think anyone who is part of the lgbt+ community can agree that to have someone you love and who loves you say that to you... is the worst disappointment and heartbreak. Fortunately she changes her mind and grows to accept Xiao Shu... but it made me very emotional. I understood that from her point of view, being gay was rife with stigma and disdain from society, a hard life. I understood her pov, but it still hurt.

I really enjoyed this despite having to MTL Chapters 61 onwards. <<less

I know I’m nowhere near finished with this novel but it is just too excellent. The MC irritates pretty much everyone who doesn’t know him well and because of his strong family background to outsiders watching him every action he does seems to be dripping with malice and arrogance. The truth of it is he is in fact arrogant but there really isn’t any malice to be found in him. The truth behind his action are always adorable and the ML reaction to this discovery is hilarious. I was ready... more>> to drop this novel after finding out the ML has a boyfriend. “ Sorry my heart is just to sensitive for those kind of things”. But over time the ML slowly grows weary of constantly comforting his ego and in the most recent chapter you learn a shocking truth.

Spoiler Alert: his boyfriend isn’t even gay

I know shocking. Though the ML doesn’t seem to put out by this. And only seems wearied by this newfound knowledge his boyfriend isn’t completely comfortable with the s*xual side of their relationship. I still couldn’t help but shout with excitement.

If your hesitant about this please read it the MC is far from perfect and irritates the ML at times as he isn’t sensitive to the empotions of others. He isn’t a great actor who always comes out on top but this gives him the whole novel to grow. Both in his personal life and in his acting ability and I can’t wait. <<less

I loved it. The MC was s*upidly cute and pure while the ML was mature and doting. We start off by seeing how, because of his feel of lack of family love (with the exception of mom) and recognition, the MC shuts himself off and become a game addict. While, the MC (due to his mind reading), becomes weary of love. What the author did to show how when you REALLY find that right person and other half, you really do change for the better. For MC, he found his... more>> love for acting through ML, and for ML, he found MC. I see some really antagonist comments about the MC, but if you actually stop your hating and step back and look at it, MC is made for ML. The ML just wants a pure and honest love which his ex failed to give (with using gratitude as an excuse to repay the ML). MC was always straightforward with his feelings (with the exception of a misunderstanding created by a certain someone), but he never once shied from ML and always placed ML before everything else including himself. Real life is stressful and eating this type of dog food is my cure. PS: for ppl that leave a review only by reading 10 chapters out of 100plus and haven’t even gotten to the plot, I have one word for you, NONSENSE <<less

This story is super cute. The MC is a cinnamon bun and the couple love each other so much, their interactions will give you cavities.

The story is a bit of a slow burn at first though, because the ML already had a boyfriend so the story takes you from the ML's old love to the new one and how this new love develops from annoyance (the ML had a lot of misconceptions about our MC) to appreciation and finally deep deep love. It's super sweet.

The only minor complaint I have... more>> is

Spoiler

That they freaking tattooed each other's initials on their bodies the moment they got together. I know that when they finally got together they already loved each other so much that they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. They were completely sure about it, BUT the story keeps talking about how professional they both were, how seriously they took acting and how they always gave it their all to play each character they got, so as actors, their bodies is their main equipment for their jobs. Tattooing it would only make it more difficult to fit the description of some characters. Yes, they can cover their tattoos with makeup, but covering tattoos is hard! That's just making some scenes more difficult to take, which is completely contradicting the main point in this whole novel! (The reason the MC first caught the ML's attention was his attitude towards acting). Actors modifying their bodies to make it easier for them to fit more characters is fine, but what they did was exactly the opposite. Plus, tattooing a name on your body is plain s*upid imo. Especially if you are a public figure. I know they were completely sure about each other and they didn't care about being exposed, but that's not the point! You are actors and your bodies are your equipment! Maybe I'm overreacting. But I really didn't like it.

A very fun read with nice drama and story-telling. The MC has a distinctive personality with a stiff facial expression and hilarious thoughts. The tragic past grips me a lot, too. I'm still only in the beginning of the series, but I'm looking forward to the comedy resulting from the mind-reading abilities.

Also, the MC's mom is a total boss. It's rare that I've come across a mother in a series that makes me cheer as much for her as I do the MC.

the (way too long) final arc where the mom becomes abhorrently and ruthlessly homophobic was so personally upsetting to me. Honestly I can’t decide what to rate this story? It’s just that while some parts were written so well and actually made me relate to it, the author had to add in other stuff to ruin it.

First we’ve got ML’s ex. Honestly he started off as such a complex character but the author just turned him into a villain to make the ML get together with MC faster. Honestly, if the story was written in the perspective of the ex, Xiao Jiashu would be a total villain. The only reconciliation... more>> I had was that the ex survived and became a good actor.

Nect is MC’s mother. She started off as such a strong and badass character, but the author just turned her into a villain in the middle to oppose their relationship. I suspect the author wrote the mother into a villain just so she could introduce the empress story into the novel. It didn’t fit the character design at all and I almost considered dropping it at that point. Glad they got over it and his whole family was supportive.

The MC wand ML. Their relationship was so unbalanced and I hated how ML kept thinking of MC’s childishness etc. Especially considering their age gap and life experiences. Add on to that the ML’s mind reading abilities. I found their relationship disgusting and how dependent MC was on the ML. While it’s cute in the beginning, it’s easy for people to change over time especially due to jealousy. Their story actually reminded me a bit of an indian actress.

Spoiler

She was interested in acting and had the talent for it. She met a famous actor who was married but they ended up falling in love. He helps her get acting opportunities and boosts her career. They also get married. However he gets jealous when she gets more popular than him, and the breaking point was when someone was a fan of his wife but didn’t recognize him. He guilt trips her into drinking with him after he gets home, and she ends up developing an alcohol addiction because of him. He destroyed her and her career but he moved on from her and lives happily. Although she turned into an addict, she was still such a kind person who helped others even if she didn’t have enough money for herself.

It reminds me of MC’s innocence and love for acting. With ML’s ability, it’s very easy for him to manipulate and destroy the MC especially with how dependent MC is on ML. This power dynamic in real life wouldn’t end well.

[collapse]

And finally the random alien ufo incident to give ML some mind reading ability. Honestly this novel would’ve been much better if author actually wrote it without such abilities. ML wouldn’t have seemed so narcissistic and the relationship wouldn’t have been so unequal. Bringing aliens into a comedic novel would’ve been ok, but considering this novel is more emotional with realistic characters, it was a bad addition.

What I did like was that some characters were written well. Honestly MC started off as a promising character, but after meeting ML he became an annoying white lotus. Glad that the brother didn’t turn out to be a villain and had an actual reason to explain his behavior towards the MC at the beginning. I didn’t like the redemption of the father as much. It felt very forced. Author claiming that he loved his youngest son the most but didn’t express it just to make him a better person was gross, Especially seeing how he treated his son in the beginning. And from some glimpses of his thoughts after the mother and son duo moved out was disgusting. There was no need to whitewash him that much. Kind of sad to see how much the mistress and her son were attacked in relation to him.

The plus point is some of the movie plots in this novel were so good. Like better than the plot of the actual novels. I would definitely watch those movies if they existed. That also explains my mixed feelings towards the novel. The author is clearly skilled at writing and is good at making the reader empathize, so how did the story go so wrong? <<less

Lovely story. I liked it very much. It is well-written; the plot isn't complicated, but still, it is a nice read. Both MC and ML are actors, so through the story there are a lot of descriptions of the acting and shooting of films, which I found interesting since I love films. Also, the interaction between MC and ML even before they got together was hilarious, and after they became a couple, it was sweet. So reading about the shooting process and their interactions was very nice. The story isn't... more>> short, but when I had only a few chapters left to read before the end, I felt sad. I fell in love with the characters and wanted to read more about them. Yes, the novel was that good. The relationship between MC and ML was so believable, I didn't question their relationship; it was true and pure love.
The only thing I doubted at the beginning was a love triangle tag, which I noticed after I started reading the novel. Usually I hate love triangles and am trying to avoid them, but this one I liked.
Spoiler

At the beginning of the story, ML is in a relationship. He was happy, but everything changed after he had an accident and began reading minds. He discovered that he didn't know his boyfriend. I loved that there weren't dramatic or rivalry scenes; there wasn't competition between MC and ML's ex-boyfriend. ML broke up with him not because he fell in love with MC but because he was exhausted. He didn't break up with him because he was petty, jealous, and hypocritical. No, he broke up with him because they didn't match each other. ML has abandonment issues; he has a psychological need to care for and dote on his partner, but he couldn't make his boyfriend happy. He tried everything; he acted in accordance with his lover's wishes, but he still couldn't make him happy or content, so all his efforts truly made him tired. I don't feel sorry for ML's ex-boyfriend; I think that he didn't love ML. Sometimes I even had a feeling that he was using ML. He was bitter because of MC's background and resources; he complained that MC had a backer and used the back door, yet he did exactly the same thing. He complained that he wanted freedom and that ML controlled him, yet every time something happened, he wanted ML to fix it. For years, MC supported and helped him. I don't think there is something wrong with that, but ML's little boyfriend thought differently. The main problem with this character is that he is straight, and he tried to adjust his sexuality for ML (ML didn't know about that), and he kind of blames ML for this. He doesn't like intimacy with people of the same s*x. I have no idea why he was in a relationship with ML. He was grateful for his help, but he didn't care for him. He was sure that just because he was in a relationship with ML, that should be enough. A relationship where only one party puts effort into it can't last for a long time.
The author used his ex-boyfriend to show us what ML needed, why he was so happy with MC, and why MC was such a good match for ML. In comparison with ML's ex-boyfriend, MC is more caring. His thoughts show us what it means when someone truly is in love. The difference between ML's ex-boyfriend and MC is huge. I think it made MC and ML's love more believable.

I love both MC and ML. MC is childish and narcissistic, but at the same time pure and cute. Despite his young age, he is hardworking and dedicated to acting. MC is serious, talented, and seems a bit aloof and cold, but with MC, he became a whole other person. I loved that MC felt guilty because of his ability; he thought that if his partner knew about it, it would be too much of a burden. At the same time, he feels uneasy that he can read his lover's mind.
All in all, the story is really good; it is gripping and well-written. Characters are well-rounded. Ml's ability makes everything more interesting. It was nice and light reading. The plot pace and flow are nice, and every arc is absorbing. I would definitely recommend it to other readers. <<less

After these two finally get together, it's basically 95% PDA and 5% plot. The fluff is just immaculate- I could not stop smiling over how cute the two of them are together. Do they move fast? Yes. Do I care? Not at all. They're on the same wavelength, probably aided by the fact that ML can literally read everyone's mind. Their personalities are very complimentary as well, with ML liking to take care of his lover and MC liking to be taken care of (though they do sometimes switch in... more>> that regard).

The fact that ML starts off with a boyfriend actually just makes his relationship with the MC that much sweeter, as

Spoiler

the original boyfriend was a straight man who "bent" for ML, and never wanted to have s*x with him, and didn't really spend the time or energy to get to truly understand the ML. He saw ML more as a tool to get popular and though he convinced himself that he loved the ML, the ex really just loved the way ML treated him and all the benefits he could get from dating ML.

Now compare this to the relationship between MC and ML, where MC, even before the two of them started dating, would pay attention to little things about the ML like the colors of his accessories or the food he likes to eat. After MC and ML get together, MC literally is always speaking his feelings aloud, and constantly down for intimacy, whether it be kissing, holding hands, or s*x. The MC clearly loves and adores the ML in every way and always puts his feelings first, in contrast to how the ex never thought about ML first or even really considered his feelings.

[collapse]

Even though the age gap is large (20 and 32), the two of them are pretty well matched- ML is a film emperor and therefore has a lot of power and connections from his career experience, while MC is a rich second generation with powerful family connections. MC doesn't need ML for his money or position, which means that they never have any issues with power dynamics or money. It's also a nice contrast from ML's past relationship where he was basically acting as a sugar daddy.

MC does go through some character growth at the beginning, but after the first movie, he stays pretty consistent, and there's not much growth or dimension to his personality. He's basically an optimistic and cheerful boy, and though he has darkness in his past, it's all just that- in the past. He's only mildly affected, and one look from the ML basically dissolves all fear for him, so at that point is it really a struggle anymore?

The ML has a good character arc with his ex boyfriend, and he goes through a lot of internal change from that relationship, but again, after that ends, he's basically the same doting ML to the MC for the rest of the novel. I do like how his backstory is expanded on though, and he's a very sympathetic character. He really made me feel for him with how he just wants someone to share his life with and who will love and desire him back.

I'm not really complaining here, because I still had a good time reading, but the story really is quite simplistic, and the emotional impact isn't the most vivid. I didn't ever feel like I was going to cry, and the romance was super sweet but it wasn't very emotional if that makes sense. They definitely feel like a perfect match, but it's not one of those "if I don't have you I will die" or "I would sacrifice my life to see your smile" kind of love stories, it's more just a heartwarming love story with copious amounts of dog food. The novel is quite lighthearted overall, which probably comes from the optimism of the MC- he really is just a little ball of sunshine.

The movies shot are all interesting, and I found the comedy movie in particular very refreshing, it's rare to see a movie like that in showbiz novels. Overall though, this is mostly just a sweet romance story, with plenty of fluff and very minimal angst. Though there are many dark themes and events, the author writes them in a way that makes it feel almost lighthearted, like a past dream that can't hurt you anymore. The MC is so cute (in an almost unrealistic way) and the ML is extremely doting and tender hearted. The whole mind reading part came out of nowhere but it was a fun addition nonetheless. I surprised myself and read this all in one sitting, it's hard to put down for some reason!

I will also say that the family dog blood drama at the end of the novel is insane. My jaw was on the floor lol. I still stan the older brother, I would 100% be down to transmigrate to be his wife hahaha

ALSO I HAVE TO SAY. Wtf is up with the mind reading plot line, why is it never discussed. Is ML really going to just carry this secret to his grave??? I don't know whether to laugh or cry, the randomness of it all really gets me. <<less

I like it. Though the start is riddled with misunderstandings (which caused me to cry) after 20 somthing chapters everything changes and the story is very smooth sailing from there.

Sugar, sugar, sugar, sugar, Love, LOVE, love~, dog food, Dog Food, Dog Food, dog FOOD, honey, HONEY, Honey,... this basically summarizes this novel. <3

My somewhat messy Summary:

Spoiler

MC is despised and ignored by his family, he always tryied his best in studying (he has high IQ?) wanting to be acknowledge by his father and grandparents. But in the end he wasn't allowed to work in his father's company (his efforts going to waste). His mother who was a former famous actress couldn't bear to see her child wast away in despair and made him secretly enter the industry she was forced to leave for her husband.

MC's mom: “When Xiao Shu came back, I wanted him to go to work at the Xiao Group. You said to let him obediently stay at home with his shares. Now he’s obediently staying at home, and you’re scolding him saying he’s not sensible and only knows how to play. Let me ask you, Xiao Qijie, in the end what do you want?”

But because of MC's sharp tongue/extreme honesty/lack of words/ misunderstanding inducing words he is misunderstood and despised very often.

Example: winning female contestant in SUPER New Voice Generation = Li Jiaer. He was misunderstood fancying her and insulting her. Her past made him seem insensitive: A rich second generation in her school took a fancy on/for her. She was subjected to his harassment, and had no choice but to drop out for her own safety. However, he didn't stop and used all kinds of methods to crush her and her family. Though later her sad story was revealed to be false and MC's closest friend's sad past was revealed.

Chapter 10/11 ML's accident + mind reading ability.

Movie with ML, MC and ML's boyfriend: little to no drama,

MC's disinterest for acting (that's what others think, because he doesn't rehearse as much as ML's newbie boyfriend + MC's attitude of knowing the lines so there's no need to rehearse), dissatisfaction towards his behaviour, by the staff/director, but then his interest for acting was sparked by ML's extraordinary acting ability, MC's rare to come by talent was awakened/shown (past trauma helped him reenact),

(MC) Xiao Jia Shu’s role was of Ling Feng, a returning student majoring in business administration and his loving brother Ling Tao (ML) who is the biggest villain in the drama.

ML: The novels plot starts here where this old chap, who’s decided to withdraw from the entertainment world, gets infected by a little sapling and rekindles his love for acting again. Role: Lin Tao

ML's boyfriend: lots of NGs, embarrassment but unexpected progress from newbies to hardworking, diligent, talented newcomer, though positive, jealous and insecur. Later his insecurities, pride, lack of self esteem and inferiority worsen. I feel sorry for ML who doesn't know how to act to make him happy and feeling secure.

1 Movie: ________

Scandal: Abou MC who in the past apparently killed someone abroad while car racing.

Advertis**ent for his families subsidiarie company was cancelled, MC thought his big brother really disliked him and wanted to show him in this way, but it turned out to be a scheme by a relative. Big bro though taciturn, did his best to express his honest feelings (brotherly)

MC investing in two movies, one about child actors in ancient times setting and one abstract film. ML also wanted to invest but was stopped by his assistant, boyfriend + other boardroom members. Because it's high risk investment with probably low returns. ML is furious, because the one thing he hates the most is other people trying to control him.

Audition: "Love chaser" horror dispense film, high popularity, MC and ML's boyfriend auditioned, both got compared and MC lost,

MC got a bigger IP, ML is fed up with his boyfriend's thoughts (->Though believes he loves ML, because he accepted him even though he is a man, thinks of using ML and only thinking of s*x as placating him and not as an act of love) and protection of his best friend/agent/manager who constantly made big mistakes, was short sighted and had a greedy heart and his younger sister who lost herself to a new exciting city life, money, attention and drugs.

After some ups and downs they get together (Movies: MC Humanoid "emotionless" robot + ML the savior of the universe; (comedy) MC arrogant flirtatious young master + ML mafia/gang boss + MC young forced emperor + ML loyal in love best friend/accomplished general). They get married in America and only tell ML's mom first, ML patches his relationship with her up, because he wants MC to feel accepted.

They manage to persuade at first very opposed to theyr gay relationship MC's mom, who already divorced her ex husband. Who later turns out was cheating the whole time during marriage, with one woman since his first marriage, turns out he was blackmailed (couldn't break free duo to guilt, but didn't have s*x, because he was really in love with Xia Mian), but he somewhat redeemed himself by apologising publicly + privately- accepts their relationship (wants to make it up to MC whom he neglected in the past duo to guilt). Xiu Changyu finally built up the courage to pursue/support the love of his live for more than 20 years Xia Mian who now is single again.

MC and ML spread dog food and sugar as if it's their job, they're so loving and joyful everyday, during an award ceremony 5 years later they publicly announce they are a married couple and their many CP fans are overjoyed.
