MC is very weak. He sleeps when and wakes up after two days in the Apocalypse. He runs away. He doesn't fight to become stronger. He runs away. He doesnt increase his strength but only agility. So that he can run away all the times. He doesn't deserve to be the MC. Why run away when you have so many cheat skills?

Just read any Korean real world becomes game/fantasy web novel instead.

They are all 1000x times better than this tr*sh. And you are already reading them, don't even try to read this filth.

Its not like this is the first attempt at it, but, it is one of the worst I have ever read.

It feels like you aren't reading a Japanese Web novel attempt at this kind of plot, but more like a shitty mass clone chinese webnovel plot that you can't tell apart from each other anymore.

Realistically done from the point of view of an overworked loner otaku, suddenly thrust into a dangerous world full of real monsters. A few comments I've seen call him a selfish coward, but I see him as an average person (not a hero/genius/etc) with no close friends/family (no emotional ties to people) who is naturally cautious about preserving his life while learning how to survive in a world that's completely changed overnight. Personally I like his mostly optimistic view towards making a new (and maybe better) life.

Very good so far.

It's almost like a journal of someone going thru a monster apocalypse.

Its does have game setting where leveling up and skills come into play for people interested in that.

This MC is a little more realistic he doesn't try to fight the strongest monster he comes across on day two and wins with the power of hope.

Overall very good

Sadly this novel shares almost every problem that the novels in the Korean "Dungeons and Monsters Appeared on modern day Earth" genre has. This is primarily centered around the weakness in characters, a poorly thought out/lazy gaming like leveling system, weak world building, and a constant need to move from uninteresting action scene to uninteresting action scene.

To go into a bit more detail on my complaints:

-The main character barely interacts with other characters, and even the ones he does interact with do not have many meaningful interactions.

-Completely glosses over the... more>> society rebuilding part of the story to focus on the next super important scary big bad that come out one after another. This really ruins my investment in any of the fights along with my first point. Why would I care about these fights and struggles if I feel no investment in the characters themselves or what they are trying to protect?

-While I don't really mind LNs with many stat sheets (I.E. Death Mage) they pop up in the middle of too many chapters and they are kinda meaningless is most cases. We don't have any metric to measure that bases stats except for mana due to the MCs spell costs, which are so so low and he uses so infrequently that we really don't need to pay much attention to them. That leaves the skills which get tiring to read and track the level of because besides having the skill in the first place the level of it really doesn't mean anything except to show that the MC is indeed scared and stressed by the situation at hand which becomes irrelevant as the skill will automatically level up to the point it doesn't matter.

-The world itself is not very detailed, we have a few points of interest in the provincial city that the story takes place in (At least up to where I dropped it). The only other things we learn about it is the stuff that stems from the premise such as the types of monsters and how the game like leveling system works with its' job point and skill. Point system.

Ahhhh how I wish the authors of this genre would learn to slow down the pace, have the characters talk to each other, and then maybe narrow the scope of the story. <<less

I honestly this is one of the best RPG-Themed novel I have ever read (but its just 20 chapter in so I can't solidly say it will continue on to be great to me)

The MC is just a normal citizen that got caught in a black company, not one that came back in time, not one that has some brokenly OP power's

Spoiler

Even though he has one special power it has shown no function till now and I douth it will be that Overpowered

[collapse]

And I just love the pacing of the plot, yes he can kill normal mobs with little effort but he does not grow soo OP that he can 1 v 1 a boss in the first few weeks nor can he kill a entire wave in one battle (which I see very often in these sorts of novels -_-) <<less

This review may be all over the place since there is a lot to cover. I'll also probably rework it when my thoughts are more organized.

The novel suffers from constant changes in tone/genre/plot. It starts with a survival isekai, before trying to add horror elements in some chapters and currently a civilization builder and office politics.

Leveling:... more>>
Spoiler

The first 200~ chapters are over the course of 10-14 days.

The MC receives 10x the level up bonus. In 10 days he has gotten 5 concurrent jobs, levelling up some to near max (Shinobi God). The other characters aren't even half way to upgrading their first jobs. At this point he isn't even in the initial genre anymore.

[collapse]

Difficulty:
Spoiler

The difficulty of this world is TOO impossible. The threats and frequency of high level monsters undermines anyone but the MC. There were 5 calamity level monsters in this one town. The 100s of survivors stand 0% surviving against ANY of this monsters. It doesn't matter how talented the gal is if the MC didn't stop even one of the monsters the entire town wouldn't exist.

[collapse]

MC:
Spoiler

I'm pretty sure the MC is an incel, here's why. From his pov no one likes him, he snitches at work and he hates his job. However it turns out everyone else likes him! He was friendly at work and even comments how nice his coworkers were when he sees them die. It undermines his initial sociopathic ruthlessness in hoarding loot.

Also they keep hinting at a harem and never committing. I don't mind this not being a harem but why keep teasing the gal and introduce the coworker if you don't plan to use them. I like the hikkimori but she keeps getting dropped off places.
[collapse]

I think the limits of the medium prevented the author from making what he wanted to present. This held my attention to the current chapter and I would recommend. However I wish I could read the novel the author wanted to show. <<less

This is a nice ass story, the first novel I have ever stuck to above 10 chps. The only thing I don't like is how the stats don't make sense, for example MC started off with like 5 strength, now he has over 100 yet isn't strong asf. His op unique skill (10 sp and 10 jp) should be op asf yet other characters are almost as strong as him. His overall fighting prowess is unbalanced asf and makes it so he's a jack of all trades yet master of... more>> none. Still can't get over how he didn't choose the monster tamer class which in theory could have let him gain passive/auto xp, he can just sit back and rest with all his supplies while his tamed monsters go out to kill other monsters and capture more monsters for him to amass an army of monsters which he could use to wipe out cities full of monsters giving him hella xp, he could have also used tamed humanoid monsters to work on a farm for him as to provide a stable food source. I just really hate how op his skill is yet the MC in this novel is not op at all, I feel like he should be wiping the floor with monsters instead of strategically fighting them?‍♂️ <<less

Personally I find this story very enjoyable.

But then again I don't rate with plot, characters, translation quality or chapter length in mind.

For me it's proportional to how much I want to continue reading the story.

... more>> Now then. Can't complete the review without pointing out the parts that dissatisfied me. The chapters are too short and that impacts the progress of the story as well. I also believe that the writer should refrain from throwing around skills without properly explaining how they work. But then again what's my opinion worth?

That's all from me. All in all I hope that the writer and the translator will continue working towards bringing this story to us till the end. M (_ _) m <<less

It becomes fairly decent if you can get through the first arc.

BUT there are quite a few issues. One is the MC's reluctance to interact with other people beats even the girl's who's admittedly a hikikomori and feels sick when she's around people. Also, the MC is really bad at utilizing his own powers. He gets a ton of skills and buffs and everything but he's still trying to defeat every monster by dropping something on them from his Item Box.

It makes it even worse that he becomes a Ninja... more>> and even makes some Naruto references, and his Job Skills really are like those in Naruto... So the guy should have some idea about how to utilize his skills if he watched Naruto... But no, drop stuff on them from Item Box. Level Up? Ok, drop bigger stuff on them from Item Box. It was completely pointless to give him this many skills.

My other problem is that the setting is just too much on hard mode. The monsters are unreasonably strong even if their levels are low while the humans pretty much suck at everything. The monsters either kill the humans or play with them (their numbers seems to be infinite and the system favors them), meanwhile most humans already disappeared (probably turned into monster food) so they are at a numerical disadvantage and they are also constantly infighting.

Every time there is a truly strong opponent, it's clearly stated that the humans are helpless against them, and they are only saved because the monster decides to leave them alive for the lolz. Basically, it feels like as if they were already beaten and we are just reading about a pointless struggle.

There's also a Safe Zone... Or at least it should be, because the strongest monster instantly figures out how to bypass it. Also, it's a monster that accidentally evolved, so it should only be a few days old but already has knowledge on how to use the loopholes of the system while on the human side everyone is pretty much clueless.

Edit after reading up to ch222: The story gets really interesting and it's quite unfortunate that it was dropped : ( <<less

I'm not sure why anyone would say this is boring. There's plenty of action here. Why, in just one day, they experience a slime jellyfish, an intelligent zombie, a dragon, and a boss-level vine monster. The main crew don't even get any time to breathe during the first week, post-apocalypse.

Some say the main character is a coward. He may not be actively trying to be everyone's savior but I wouldn't call him a coward. I don't know when it became the rule that all mc's had to save everyone for... more>> the story to be interesting. This guy is just trying to survive. He may be a little selfish but I don't see that it's wrong for him to take this path. It's kind of refreshing in fact. He's not evil. He doesn't hurt anyone without reason. He does save some people. And in the end he is the one fighting all the boss-level monsters. He's definitely not a coward. The mysteries of why everything is happening haven't really been solved by this point but I'm plenty entertained by all the suspense-action so far. The closest book I'd liken this to is Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, just leveled down some. It's a good story. Give it a shot. <<less

Honestly, the plot armor feels too strong and the MC is too willing to go along with his new teammate's whims and it's too much of a slog (ch87 and we're still on day 4 I think.)

Also the evolution so far has been boring; ... more>>
Spoiler

Twice the MC's pets have evolved... and showed absolutely no physical change, just a boost in power- that's just plain lazy writing.

[collapse]
Besides, animal companions are just too overdone.

The fights are well written at least other than the plot armor of skills being increased or added just as needed- but that last bit's why I'm calling it here.

If it ever becomes an anime I'll watch it or at least the fight clips on youtube. <<less

The story itself is alright, I read the manga and then wanted to see more, it got better.

Bad:

The only problem is the pacing, like 80 chapters only amounts to five days, I don’t understand how that’s possible. The manga goes way off track of the novel. The other problem isn’t that the MC has to do everything, like once the girl comes in and then the other girl he has to play to there every request

... more>> Good:

a cute part of the story though is the dog and how a monster wants her to be his mate honestly I’m just reading for that at this point. <<less

I originally wanted to rate this 4.

For a reminder, there're difference between LN and webnovel, so that could be a flag for something within the webnovel just not worth printing.

I decided to give this a 3 when MC decide to disguise himself as the female companion. Like seriously, what was that?! I thought side tail is meeting up with her s*x friend and MC wanted to go 007 BlackOps Johnny English spy sh*t information gathering. Now why he has to do it with the female companion's face? Because she puked... more>> on someone's face? What kind of bullshitery was that.

I always hate when the author decide this is "Brain damage time!!" and MC's brain just glitching out. Then you have to bear reading moronic unrewarding pointlessly slow pace who knows how many chapters, until things hopefully got cleared up.

oh and it's super slow pace, not bad and lots of things still going on, but just s*upidly slow. <<less

a good story in-starting point, its like telling the begining of "solo leveling" feeling.

what I like about MC is he has the most basic human like personality. He coward "YES" got power but still coward "YES". Compred to some isekai cheat hole seaker MC where they both start from being "tr*sh", intead lets be hero and save everyone or lets save my number xx hole from peril or lets just kill villain X because is JUSTICE, he just like lets runaway if not I will die fack-in-hell I care about... more>> dying neighborhood btw. Ist not he the most human like? He only doing in his interest and the best outcome for himself first thing first, I believe there is one or two people like that arround you! YES?

is like another example of hajime of arifureta saying "it is not you got power you must do something, but you want something you got the power necessary to got what you want"

and here I wonder why alot people dislike him with such personlity. Hmm if compared to our current society then the answer is "YES" people like him is detesctable. But in situation where your environtment become lawless where you should survive on your-on and cannot shoulder additional burden I thing not becoming burden itself is priseworthy, NO?

people call him s*upid but I thing he is just late of adapting his mental state, like GRID of Overgeared the only he need is character development and resolve on his goal that is to live and survive

the drawback of this novel is slow peaced but short in overall chapter. 90+ chapter and just arround 4 days worth of mumbling about skill and how to acquired ration <<less

Novel appears to be your pretty generic level system story with monsters. Nothing really special, MC is pretty lackluster just overall generic.

If you are just looking for similar to existing novels then this is fine, though 12 chapters is all I could get through due to the translations leaving in the annoying "Kawaii" and "Nakama" instead of translating them. (This may change with different translators).

I feel like this novel has potential as far as the TLed part goes.

it feels closer to Korean novels than Japanese as the MC is more realistic. He doesn't treat it as game unlike some other Japanese MC. Although he is making less use of his OP skill but he's focusing on survival when he's in a world where the government is collapsing and no safe area for him to relax in peace.

however it lost 1 star due to the terrible chapter layout and the plot does feel like it's... more>> moving at a snails pace. <<less
