An internet troll who wanted attention, the reader criticized his favorite web novel, saying: “The protagonist is dumb and the author is s*upid.”

Author: “…Got it.”

Unfortunately for him, the author actually listened to his (troll) feedback. The formerly lighthearted tale of a cute harem master suddenly became super dark and edgy. The reader could only helplessly look on as the protagonist was abused and betrayed, finally embarking on the road to becoming completely evil. Everything was a mess!

After that the reader transmigrated into a strange world. How come the person in front of him looks like the protagonist (evil undead version)? Just what is going on?!

Note: Du Zhe (读者 meaning Reader) and Du Ze (杜泽 the character’s name) sound almost the same

This is one of my favorite stories on this site.

The characters are interesting, I honestly love how dense the main character can be, although some of them can come off as a little one-dimensional.

I like the fact that the MC and ML don't just fall in love at first sight. Their relationship takes a while and even after they become an official couple they still have their problems and secrets.

This story is far from perfect but it is an enjoyable experience, not to mention some of the smutty scenes are... more>> pretty hot, and I would definitely recommend giving it a try. <<less

Probably one of the best BL chinese novels I've ever read. I've liked this more than FOD.

The pacing, the writing, the translation, the characters, the world... Everything is just perfect. This work is amazing, wonderful, magnificent.

So if anyone is reading this review, just stop and go read the story instead. Like asap!

I guarantee an enjoyable time.

I really love this story! I'm grateful for all the reviews I found here and I'm not disappointed. I was actually doubtful at first if I'll really like this but this story grows on me. I love how the couple progressed, and the title is true to its name. With the right amount of drama, comedy, and smut scenes (I just hate those fckng crabs, poor author ;-; I mean the real one lol).

And I love those scenes where the protagonist's POV are shown, and the "The author (Tui) has... more>> something to say" section lmao.

But "eight races tonight" is still my favorite and best tag line for this novel :))))))))) <<less

So amazing! The book was interesting to read, the characters were nicely thought out and I didn’t get bored. Also the smut scenes weren’t painstakingly horrible to read and I actually enjoyed them. Sometimes transmigration novels can get repetitive and boring, so this one was a refreshing one to read. I loved reading it, and it was worth my time.

This was an entertaining read.

The MC suffers from 'face paralysis' which was hilarious as, usually, the romantic interest is the one no one can read. Nonetheless, he's full of silly thoughts and gushes frequently in his mind. The ML is pretty much a typical yandere, but he falls in love with Du Ze pretty quickly and the few glimpses into his feelings will melt the heart as he struggles to be worthy of the MC's love (as his coldness and knowledge of events leave him seeming untouchable). The romance picks... more>> up pretty early on and they make a sweet pair.

The plot itself is pretty expansive with intricate details and grand ideas, but the arcs are too short imo. There were 8 races to explore but only 2-4 could be described as having any sort of depth, while the rest were minimally touched upon. <<less

dAANG, this would remain as one of my favourite bl novel ever, just my cup of tea, right amount of action, smuts and thrill. I really love the mc's silliness & cuteness and the ml's possessiveness, and let's not forget about the mc's faithful companion HAHAH omg I love every single thing! So much uwu. so anw, I really really recommend this to y'all who's looking for a good roller-coaster read, this isn't also overly predictable unlike some others and let me tell you, the quality of the smuts are... more>> high-tier, me was shookt at those tent**les and those twoD damn. Overall a 3/5 I felt the story was interesting but it didn't wow me. At times I found it tedious to read because a lot of the plot is foreshadowed in the story so the events that occurred didn't surprise me. At times I felt that it was a chore to read because I already knew that was gonna happen at the end.

I personally wasn't a huge fan of ML having to go through all his forms again in the tower. I felt like I was reading a really long anime filler

The ML is the possessive type which I enjoy reading in general but he really had no other personality outside of being the cliched cold hearted seme that is so obsessed with the MC. I did enjoy the MC tho. I found him to be adorable and I really liked the cool moments he had.

All in all its an okay story but not something I would recommend <<less

It was pretty okay. Otaku x Protagonist was an interesting pairing. What I liked is that Du Ze stayed in his 'Reader' role almost throughout. Sometimes this makes him passive and dull. But that is what a reader is, someone who doesn't meddle with the happenings of the novel - just an observer cheering for the protag in their hearts. I also liked Xiu's grey personality though we were only given a peek at it towards the end. The rest of the time he is the lucky chap who's blessedly... more>> OP.

There's not much character 'development' nor did I feel emotionally attached to any of the characters. I also found it difficult to finish this in one go. In all, this is a good casual read. 3.5 rounded up. Translation was great! <<less

An excellent BL story well worth the read. The start is a bit slow but things really pick up when Du Ze arrives in the world of the novels.

I like that the love story is both silly and passionate. It's a different flavor of love from the other BL stories I have read. The protagonist, Xiu, has eight different forms and changed personalities depending on which form he is currently using.

In short, it's like a reverse harem but there's only one harem member (with eight forms).

Rated as 3.5, but the rating system doesn't allow half-stars.

I enjoyed this novel. It has a lot of the usual tropes, such as an OP ML, the fantasy world races (angel, elf etc), collecting a whole football team of little bros and sisters, but there are some unique points as well. I thought that the main character Du Ze was quite sweet--he's shy and retiring due to being bullied for his impaired hearing, and has difficulty speaking for the same reason. ML basically had the humanity bled out of him... more>> due to being betrayed by everybody that he loved, so when Du Ze finds him, he's not inclined to trust anybody at all. However, "some small, cute person" basically healed his heart with the power of a steadfast and pure love.

Cute, readable, with lots of plot and H scenes, I think this is a novel that everybody can enjoy. Good translation as well from a great translation team. They pick a lot of great projects that fit my taste. It just didn't wow me so I couldn't rate it as a 4, but I still recommend it! I'm just nitpicky af. <<less

I loved it! A reader unwillingly transported in the world of one of his favorite novels is now trying to help the ML overcome all the pain and betrayal he suffered and thus not turn completely evil. At first, the reader is detached, helping the ML mostly due to the guilt he felt since it was his comment that made the author choose such a dark path for the ML. But, though in the beginning the reader couldn't help thinking of the people he encountered in the novel world as... more>> simply characters, he soon changes his tune and starts becoming genuinely invested in the happenings.

As for the ML, he is deeply affected by the apparition of the reader. Being saved by the reader when he was in a pit of despair and afterward being helped, protected and unconditionally accepted by the same person without anything asked in return, impacted him greatly. The genuine support the reader gives him, steadfast through the years, becomes the only true thing he can count on. As such his whole world start developing around the mysterious man that appeared in his life, anything else becoming irrelevant. It's the start of an obsessive, possessive but genuine kind of love.

Spiced with humor and adventure, with lovable characters and interesting twists, not to mention lots of smutty scenes, I totally recommend giving this story a shot. With a reader that is smart, relatable and pretty, an ML that is dark, powerful and hot, but completely smitten with the reader, this is a love story for the ages <3 <<less

Amazing story! Great premise, plot and execution. The translation is of very high quality and has good illustrations and foot notes. The ending was probably in my top endings of stories. It was emotional and very true to the title while also being thought provoking, as lots of little looks at society throughout the chapters.

There is fluff, there is fear, fore-shadowing with twists and turns. The author wrote particular events in the original story that MC was transmigrated into, with the story of the events post transmigration. My love for this novel can not be simply expressed with words and since the novelupdate guidelines, on how to write a comment, requests to not simply write ‘I like this’ and they want the readers to give a longer review, I have decided to say :

The story slowly falls into place and the to me, at the end, everything makes sense and is very exciting. If you have not read this novel yet... Give it a try. The ending is amazing.

Thoughts: I'm weak to these types of plot. Cute MC with an OP sticky ML. Translation was easy to read, some slight grammar slips, but the plot started to drag and feel a little repetitive by the end. Knew where things were headed by about 2/3 of the way in and started skimming. Character development was a little weak, but considering the genre and my bias, it was fine.

Alright, first of all: Read this novel.

At parts it might be a bit repetitive and the descriptions are silly, and I could have totally done with more character development, as well as exploration world building, but at the same time it fit really, really well in the frame of the novel given that we do get the information from the memories of the Reader who already knows all about it from reading the original novel. I won't give any spoilers, but there is an actual reason why the Reader ended... more>> up in the novel, and the buildup to it was very well done.

The nature of some of the xxx scenes almost made me remove a star, but at the same time the protagonist kind of knows when something is f*cked up. despite the story setting and plot there isn't too much angst, so problematic and traumatic experiences are glossed over and only handled somewhat ssuperficially

The yaoi doujinshi... well it will accompany us through the whole novel and is often quite funny! Especially the Reader's thoughts about it. If you don't like a silly MC this might not be something for you, as he is truly a bit simply minded and silly, but not s*upid. <<less

This is one of the best Chinese novel I've ever read!!! The plot is very fun and engaging. I love Du Ze and Xiu relationship, they are very cute and perfect for each other. Their story is a "miracle" *wink wink*

Now that I have finished reading it, I'm feeling bittersweet. Aside from some hilarious scenes, there are lots of valuable lessons to be learned from this novel. Highly recommend

I love everything about this novel. The plot, the romance, the characters, etc... there are so many things that I love about this novel that I could stay days to write them.

The MC while at the start is so oblivious to the love ML has for him when he figures it out is so sweet and so worth the wait.

The ML is perfect (even through he is a bit yandere) with the way he shows his love for the MC.

This is the first danmei novel that I read and finished. The translation is simple, easily understood and the author's notes at the end are pretty funny. The character development of the pair is good and the fluff is much above my expectation of something that's only written and not drawn. Absolutely love it!
