Please, If I can rate it 10, I will do it

Okay, first of all, God Level Summoner is a e-sport Novel that made me fall in love with e-sport novel. It was that good, like seriously guys, I still love to reread it till these days. It's been quite some time after I finish read this, but I decide to read a review here so new reader know how good this novel is.

Summary (minor spoiler) :

Our lovely MC (Li Cangyu aka Cat God aka my baby). His team disbanded after... more>> play in Wulin League and in his last year of playing e-sport with age of 24 years, Li Cangyu finally go back to his home, Miracle League with a brand new team, he led his team to the champion.

Character : 10/5

Character... ughhh... no need to mention. Li Cangyu is a type of person that never give up once he set his goal. He will always moves foward, never even complaint once. He's one of the best MC I ever read. AND THE ML (Ling Xuefeng) just plus plus. ML like MC from a long time ago but he always keep it to himself cause he want to support MC through every ups and downs, he just a super supporting lover. He want to be someone whom MC can depend on it. Oh yeah ML and MC are in different teams. Other CP also so lovely. Each of them have their stories at the extra and I am so satisfied after read all of those extras.

E-Sport : 10/5

I think I don't need the e-sport spices in this novel anymore hahaha. It's a totally e-sport novel, competitive game, opponen, etc. AND WE HAVE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP. One things I like from this novel is the fact that the author put much effort to the world championship like every team from another country are introduced so well, unlike other novel where in my opnion, I can't feel the glory from the champhionship itself hahaha.

Ending : 10/5

No need to ask, it's HE for all of the CP. And our main CP, LingCat CP just made me cried. I love them so much

My opinion, although the novel have 200+ chapters, you wont feel like that at all. It's a fantastic novel. One of the best I've ever read and I hope you guys who read my review can feel the same way as me cause this novel is really good and deserve higher rate <<less

This is a great story srsly. It just took me 4 days to complete this story.. I like how the author focus on e-sport first then after the main story complete they focus on couples. This is first time I read a novel above 150 chapter.. I thought that I might be crazy to read 393 chapter. But I was wrong.. This novel totally worth it. Recommended !!

Enjoyable to watch. What I like the most is how the ML and MC handle their relationship and their work as team captains. Their both mature, independent, and professional. It wasn't focused on relationship but even though there are just a few sweet moments. It was sweet and will satisfy you. I feel like the ending was kinda rushed? But also not? I think I'm just looking for more that's why. Anyways, a must read despite it being so long. One of the best E-Sports danmei.

Must I need to tell why its so good?
    • Amazing MC (uke) who works hard, is talented, and doesn't shy away due to the ML (seme) and is not the typical weak, whiny or naive ukes.
    • ML is pampering and doting but doesn't overdo it. Oh and he's a wife (husband) s*ave / hen-pecked husband.
    • Amazing side characters. The MC has rivals but ultimately nobody is portrayed as "evil".
      Spoiler

Moreover, his competitors in the nationals become his teammates in the internationals. I really love the internationals. *Chef's kiss*

      [collapse]
    • The CPs. Other than the main CP, there's so many other CPs that I love it!!! I also love how each CP has a different situation and character (Like how some have shy uke, another has elegant uke etc)
    • Great teamwork and team spirit.
    • Good amount of details in the matches. Its a lot but not too much. Just around the perfect amount of me.
    • It was natural. The love of all the CPs, in my opinion, was natural and not forced.
    • The audience. Honestly the audience are so hilarious that I can't explain it.

Really enjoyed this novel.

Not really into e-sports irl, but this novel is really great:

1. In my opinion, the characters were really fleshed out-- not just the MC and ML but even most of the side characters.

Spoiler

Though in the world competition, characters aren't as fleshed out compared to the domestic league, probably because we also have multiple CPs in the domestic league so we get more time to know them better, but it's really understandable.

Still, even the characters introduced that are outside the China Team still feels real and not just some extras that can be easily beaten. I feel like I lowkey became a fan of Park Joonseo cause I enjoyed how he plays and thinks during their match with China haha.

[collapse]

Everyone in the league feels like they are really in it for their dreams, etc., and thus, no one gives a sense that they are mere cannon fodders.

With this, the novel was able to make each game matches really exciting, because with each characters' individuality, strengths, weaknesses, you will really wonder on who will win or lose in the game matches.

It gives the readers the thrill, suspense of the results in each matches.

2. I also enjoyed the development of each characters, as you read through the protagonists' and the side characters' journeys, you'll find each and everyone maturing-- and that's really something that make characters stick to a reader's mind.

Additionally, every key characters are almost at the same level which makes matches exciting. Aside from skills; luck, mental state/ mentality, team compatibility, also plays a big role in the matches which is very much applicable in real life too.

This is probably why despite having a large number of characters to remember including their class, race, etc. In the game, I can easily recall each of them. Cause they all bring something to the table.

3. Plot-wise, I feel like it flowed very well and I feel like the story ended right as it should be.

4. It's a natural page-turner novel in my opinion. I wasn't bored ever, and reading it resulted to multiple sleeping at dawn moments because you just want to know what's going to happen next haha.

Tip: I usually force myself to pause reading after finishing a game match so that I can still sleep before the sun rises without thinking of the incoming game match the characters are gonna face lol.

All in all, the characters, the plot progression, exciting game matches wherein it can still feel unpredictable.
Spoiler

despite you still feeling and believing that in the end they'll still really win coz they're the protagonists, hello? Which ofc, they do win the end lol.

But the thrill is undoubtedly there, the wins aren't served to the characters on a golden platter.

You'll feel that the characters really give it their all, and thus, the wins feels well-deserved.

)

Thus, it really makes this novel an enjoyable one to read. <<less

While I did enjoy it very much, I just think that its too long. I was actually waiting for some tension to happen or just something to make me more engaged but nothing really happened. It's a pretty smooth sailing ride. Love the MC and how everyone's afraid of his pits and how badass ML is. They're too OP though so there's not much to look forward in the gaming cuz you know they gonna win. I pretty much just skimmed through the whole gaming thing except if its talking... more>> about MC's pits cuz they're funny to read, but if you're into the gaming world this is prolly a good one. All in all, I'd probably not read this again but it was very fluffy and sweet.

One thing that didn't vibe with me was that

Spoiler

Literally everyone be gay like wuuuuut lmao and every member of the china reps are all handsome and shi it just makes me gag 💀 I enjoyed all of their papapa scenes though so ig I'll accept

I only recently started reading BL novels but out of all that I've read so far, this is one of the best. It doesn't overly focus on their love, so there is plenty of time to develop the plot and the description of the fight scenes are well written. The translation was so easy to read and well made. It also has plenty of other CP's and the interaction of all the characters were adorable. Its only natural that the book has such high ratings.

The story is good

MC and ML doesn't have any shitty misunderstanding or drama at all... Both are compatible

MC is straightforward and ML is cold but not tsundere. He really takes care of his lover.

... more>> The story mainly revolves around the game not much romance elements but whatever it is.. its pretty cute and fluffy.

The only reason I gave it 4 star because I really don't like a fact.

Almost everyone (read: everyone) is gay. All the players are interested in their teammates or some other male. Too many side relationships. And not with a single girl.

I like yaoi but that doesn't mean everyone in the main couple's friend circle have to be homos*xual too... <<less

This is a feel-good novel so don't expect much conflict. In fact, it goes pretty much smooth sailing for the MC. The characters are all unique and interesting, their interactions with each other were fun and funny, and the gaming aspects were engaging and not too technical that a non-gamer like me could follow along really well.

What I really liked best is the relationship between the MC and ML. They are truly equals, not only in the game but also irl. I love the MC's decisiveness once he realizes his... more>> feelings, and ML waiting patiently for him and quietly supporting him through his ups and downs was really really sweet. I love that they are both really career-driven and always put their job first. They're so straightforward about showing their love to each other, which is really refreshing (I am so tired of tsundere-types and blushing virg*n-types).

I didn't really care for the side CPs except for the Shu Bai combo. Still, I didn't mind too much, though that may be because I'm used to reading fanfic of sports anime (which tends to have a lot of pairings).

Some mild xenophobic sentiments here and there (especially during the World Competition) but not as much as other novels out there.

Overall, very enjoyable read, I absolutely recommend if you love reading e-sports BL. <<less

I'll be honest, I think I'm pretty commendable in getting as far as I did with this novel.

Most of the time, when reading a novel, if it doesn't hook me within the first 10 chapter I drop it. I made it as far as the 61st chapter before dropping it. It was fine for the first 10 chapters, interesting enough to keep me pushing on. However, somewhere along the way I ended up feeling more annoyed with the cliches as well as the constant switching of POV's.

Now, I'm not a... more>> gamer to begin with, and I honestly don't feel like that's a necessary trait needed when reading gaming novels. Does it help? Sure it does, but it's not completely necessary. That being said, I completely couldn't get into this storyline or the gaming itself.

The game was extremely difficult to visualize. I have barely a basic understanding of leveling games, so I really need thorough explanation to completely understand how the games are being played, but with this novel that wasn't there. Know what was there? How handsome and chic a character was as well as the other 36 misc. Characters that have really no purpose other than boosting the MC's stats of how amazing and great he is as a summoner. That's it. Ego boosting. Idk maybe that's just my perspective of it.

My other problem with it was that although author tried to show how comfortable MC and ML are together and with one another? It felt more like MC and his bff had a better tacit understanding of one another's personality as far as just general every day things whereas the ML and MC where just more understanding of how their gaming works. And yes, I'm sure that's mostly because they were together all the time for the past 6/7 years. However, I think it would have been better not to constantly try and drive home how well the ML and MC knew each other.

Plus, the first 10 chapters I was certain the MC and his bff were the cp. But once again, I only got to chapter 61 chapters and my perception of this could be off in comparison. And if I'm being honest, after reading You Boys Play Games Well I've become pretty biased in what I began looking for in gaming novels.

Also, as a side note, I agree with one of the other posters on here, there were way too many couples and for absolutely no reason other than to have boys being gay. I found it a bit unrealistic and somewhat annoying because of how every other name mentioned was apparently a part of another cp. Sometimes I wonder if bl is written for the sake of having an interesting plot with lgbtq rep. Or if it's just because it's gay.

Anyway.

The good points of the novel was that I did find it pretty funny. There were times I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe, but that didn't take away from the fact that it's otherwise unremarkable and pretty basic as far as plots go. As for the translation, it was good. I'm thankful that someone takes the time out of their day to translate for the masses. I would just suggest an editor to reread everything to catch what the translator may have missed, and to also help make sure the wording is understandable. <<less

It's really good story about game, explanation of the characters, plot development, events that occur are all well written. I can say that even tho I just nearly half part of the story. But the romance is really really slow, it's something like a game novel with BL seasonings, a little romance and too much game stories. It's really good story actually, the romance is also good, I'm falling in love with every CP here and it's realistic as long as I read (except the main CP, their tacit understanding is too irrational, still I love it so much) but if you search some full, and romance everywhere then it's not suitable for you.

I really enjoy the romance and the story but for me it's too slow, and to much events that occur, but because of this, the development is good.

I fall in love with everyone here, So that I cannot side with anyone becuase everyone is lovely.

Well it's a good game story overall so I kind of Understand why it has so many chapter, everything is good, I even fell in love with this novel right from the beginning I read. Btw, from the start I read it, it remind me to King's Avatar, even the background story is different, but the pattern and how the MC get the member is kind of similar to King's Avatar

Btw I just completed it in three days cause it's interesting!

If you like E-sports, then this novel is really for you

its really good and the characters are all so interesting. Some people might say the pacing is too slow but I have to remind you, this novel has 393 chapters. If you want a novel with fast pacing, why read this long ass novel? Besides, I think the beginning is not as boring as they say. The first volume is an introduction to the characters, game settings. Why do they do this? It’s of course for the later chapters! In... more>> the first volume, they mentioned again and again that certain teams were the strongest and their players are great and stuff.

why do they do that?

it’s to give a powerful impact to the story! Like, you know this person is strong, so when you see them lose to cat god’s team, you will feel excited and understand their true potential.

seriously, I don’t understand why people say this novel is boring. I enjoyed it very much and I finished it in like, three days <<less

I actually really enjoyed the very slow build of the book. Romance isn't the main plot point of the story, but the way the ML and MC slowly work towards their goal made them more interesting and you became much more invested in them.

Darn, it was a long journey! For more than a week, I read this before I slept and after 8 woke up. I can't believe I'm parting with this story already.

Anyway, this story was worth it. The maturity of the main cp's relationship was really good.

The game was explained in a simplest way that in every fight I developed a habit of guessing Li Cangyu's tactic but to no avail. Overall, this book is something you won't regret reading especially if you're into gaming and y stories.

I couldn't stop "kyaa~♡ kyaa~♡"-ing since I read this novel. The plot and the some of the characters are quite similar to TKA, but with less details and fast paced. The story itself is so warm and fluffy, different from tense and competitive vibes in TKA.

I like the novel but there's one thing that I dislike about this novel and that is the plot and romance is quite easy to predict, its not a bad thing but it kinda ruined my fun, y'know... just my preference....

But overall this novel is... more>> a good read. <<less

I'm so proud of finishing a 300 + chapter BL book! I was hooked with the technical plots and the personalities of every side-characters. They were all so dynamic and strong. I loved the MC because he's the kind I like; reliable leader, open-minded and kind. When he competes he's strategically smart, entertaining and shameless.

The whole vibe of the story is mellow which is a nice change of pace for me that likes psychological thrillers and horror genres. The romance part of this story reminds me of the romance book... more>> 'Does Love at First Sight Exist in E-Sports?'. This is the kind of novel I usually like — the ones where there’s a detailed setting (which in this case is the gameplay) and a wide cast of interesting characters. Unfortunately, I’m still sick and I kept dozing off because of the slow pacing and lack of action *sneezingface*. So I’ve decided to put it down for now and come back when I’m in a better mood to enjoy it!

The main focus of the novel is definitely the e-sports gameplay. The characters are secondary, and even the side CPs... more>> are about even in terms of appearances with the main CP. The main character is a god-level player who has been bogged down by his teammates (who were average players), and had never won a trophy before. After disbanding his team for the second time at the age of 24, the most logical move for him is to have retired. However, he doesn’t let his past bring him down and chooses to start a new, stronger team instead.

As for the ML (beware of minor spoilers) :
Spoiler

This is a first for me to see two rival characters. In e-sports novels, the two main characters are usually in the same team. But that’s don’t the case for this one. The ML and MC do have a close relationship and we’re given a chance of being in the same team in the past. However, they were separated by fate and never even got to compete against one another seriously. Of course, this next season, that’s bound to change.
