Kingdom’s Bloodline

A lowly child beggar, a noble prince, a monster viewed as the enemy of the entire world. If you possess all three identities at the same time, which identity would you choose to help you earn a better ending?

Thales did not have the answer.

He only knew that he came to a different and magnificent world, and he had to face a future that was as difficult to handle as a nightmare.

The glorious Empire had already been destroyed for one thousand years, the dying royal family suffered many problems, the legendary sacred battle had plenty of conspiracies, the divided world was in chaos.

But Thales had nothing.

The only thing he had left was an unswerving determination to preserve his own identity, bravery which would allow him to survive in a perilous situation, and a belief that he would never submit to principles he did not believe.

“A King does not gain respect by virtue of his bloodline. The bloodline’s glory rests on the deeds of the King.”

Darkness will baptize light. Fire will create true steel. The forbidden prince’s story starts here.

I have read all of the chapters in the raws and the only reason I read it is because Kingdom’s Bloodline is Amazing! Great characters, and the politics are on a totally different level compared to all the novels I have read so far, and trust me, I read hundreds of them. And the protagonist Thales’s actions and decisions are all based on his beliefs! He has his own beliefs and stays true to them, not because he is an angel or something. The best part is that he is... more>> not as OP as some may believe, sure he has some face-slapping moments but there are plenty of more powerful enemies that beat him in fighting skills, politics, and power. Yet every one of his experiences help him grow more experienced aand prepares him for the larger obstacles ahead. That means there will more world building. It is not just about Thales, there is his kingdom and how he is going to rule it and facing several opponents in the future. <<less

This is a brilliant story. It's full of intelligent characters, interesting plot twists and desperate struggle in combat. MC is weaker than almost any character, so he needs to use his brain to survive. Side characters are intelligent and they have their own motivations and goals. MC has to talk to them and play political games, but nobody is easily manipulated. The story gets only better in later chapters. 200+ chapters, and the characters are even more intelligent and challenging for MC. No cliches, and no easy solutions. Struggle is... more>> still hard, and that makes it just more fun. It's more like a traditional novel than a web novel, so the pace is slower and the story is much more detailed. However, it'll be truly worth it when the story develops on the later chapters. If you seek instant gratification and MC being OP in 3 chapters, then this is not for you. But if you wish to read an intelligent story with complex characters, then it's definitely worth trying. <<less

I simply give it 5 stars because the great parts are great. The writing is superb and when the MC is in danger I forgot I was reading a book; the danger felt real. At times, I found myself putting my tablet down to think “what would I do?”. In my opinion that is the best sort of reading experience.

If there were any downside to the novel it’s that the other Nobles are too competent. They can spring traps for the Royal family and retenue in the middle of the... more>> street in broad daylight. They can do this AND leave no trail back to themselves. This novel doesn’t have just 1 outstanding disloyal subject who’s a brilliant mastermind. Instead it has multiple families with multiple motivations who are apathetic/disloyal to the royal family, and each of these families are capable to various degrees.

The novel is written in the style of a western book. There are multiple POV sections where the story breaks away from the MC to tell a related story involving someone else. The person who at the center of the POV is not always evidently connected to the main progression, but you see shortly after that the POV either sets up interaction with the MC or gives some understanding of the world at large.

With only 59 chapters out, I wouldn’t dare claim to be “the best CN” - but this does have the foundations to be one of the best translated CN to date.

The MC is a royal bastard who slowly gains memories of his past life on earth. He has various abilities which indicate he will be OP, but at the current timeline is only 7. I don’t expect him to be Roland (Release that Witch) - his flashbacks (usually 1 paragraph in length) seem to indicate he was a philosophy major, and not an engineer/scientist of any sort.

For anyone wondering if this book is worth picking up, I’d say it is. Be warned though, we don’t know how the MC will rule as he’s only just now about to be corinated as crown prince (it’ll probably happen around chapter 60-62). This world has magic/esp/multiple species (including the likes of vampires, though dragons appear to be extinct) and that’s all great, but I fear it will be easy for the author to slip.

I don’t know how the future will be, as of now though, it’s pretty great. <<less

This is sad. Sad, engaging and interesting. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that the author extends the arcs a lot, making them a little tiring, and a plot twist made me stop reading for a while.

The plot twist is below, but I recommend seeing it only if you've read up to c268 (which is as far as I read) because it's a huge spoiler:

Spoiler

When I found out that Thales would stay in the other kingdom until he came of age, I didn't settle for that, so I stopped reading

[collapse]

I think a big reason this novel has a low rating is because the pace is slow, it's not a good novel to read in a hurry, maybe you'll get exhausted reading it. Many things need to happen for us to reach the conclusion of an arc, sometimes even a fight lasts more than 4 chapters, which can be tiring. Or

Because the protagonist goes through so many cruel things, without a little rest, and he's just a kid. Although he is an older person who has been reincarnated, he only has a few memories of it, and his brain is under development. He suffers all this together at the frailest age. It's not exactly cool to read about a child being constantly tortured, psychologically and physically.

The whole atmosphere of the novel is very tense and cruel, but also reflective and intense. The characters are very human and all of them are in great pain.

Basically this is not going to be easy to read for most people, it can be agonizing, exhausting and suffocating. However it is undeniable that this novel is very good. Just read it, that's it, try. <<less

Just wow !

If you are looking for something with more depth and less superficial MC, THIS is what you need to read. Yea slow plot, but there is no other way to get you to see and feel what the MC has to live through.

Getting tired of novels that are plain and thinks that you can't think by yourself.

This is in my top 5 of all time!

Lots of cliff hangers and slow progress. There's definitely a lot of details mentioned in the story which may seem very tedious and boring to some but I find it quite enjoyable and interesting. In the end, it's all dependent on what type of story you're into. This story was quite boring for me at the beginning but it picks itself back up in the later chapters. There's a lot of foreshadowing and analysis in the story so some chapters may just be about the MC figuring something out which... more>> may seem a little long. But I quite liked the suspense which really kept me on edge and the way the MC gets out of certain situations is insightful or interesting. <<less

It's a good read but the development of the story is way too slow..I agree with the person saying that this novel is filled with lots of fillers. Why? Probably because of being afraid of making plotholes... Damn author, being detailed is fine but if it's too much...*sigh* at least do things in moderation..... makes it tiring to read..

Good, but sloooow.

Pro

  • MC is a good natured character. You feel his weakness, but also his cleverness.
  • The world is interesting and the lore developed.
  • Side characters have all their lives and schemes.
Con

  • Too much lore, like really, way too much digressions.
  • Give the MC a break! He had zero downtime until now, going from one crisis to the next.
  • I'm all for progressive weak to strong, but this story is way too slow.
  • Too much "stunned" repetitions, it's like everyone is perpetually awed by all discussions or something.

I really like the plot and twist on this novel. Up to now there is no one like this with more detailed political and cause & effect choices that that span for millennia/ages. Of course the downside is that there will be a short time span with the chapters as the author need to write how it all happen. This is a novel that make you cringe as the question keep pilling up and when you get to the point that at least one question is answered, you are satisfy... more>> with that answer and of course you go back to read more as you discover more intriguing question that need answers. This is not a novel with MC that can trample everthing, in a sense the MC is weak against time and occurrences that is happening in his surrounding. Whether it is the past, present and future, he is helpless, that the only thing he can do is keep on struggling and struggle for the best outcome. This is what make me like this novel. Where characters are vibrant and each has their place in the novel. I don't hate MC or characters that can pinch any problem and solve everything in one move, but I already had enough of those type of characters. With this novel the MC struggle is alive and each characters are growing as the novel expand. In the struggle for life each characters have their own story to tell that you can sympathize or rather relate to their own story. This novel do all those thing and this make the story great. <<less

Very, very good foundation, the background of the novel, politics and scheming is very well thought of, the protagonist is intelligent and resourceful which is something rare to see.

However the pacing and powerscaling are goddamn awful and the author doesn't know how to make the MC take initiative in something truly eventful nor does know how to properly powerscale. It's always just the world throwing sh*t at him and the MC reacting, you almost think he hates the MC considering how bad his life is and how nonsensical a lot... more>> of stuff turns out if you think for some seconds, the author does not know how to setup situations in a natural manner.

Spoiler

First of all, the entire envolvement with the vampires was nonsensical, are you seriously trying to convince me that a child, who should be actively under the protection of the royal palace knights, in a situation of conflict (heck, it was a rescue mission), managed to sneak out of their perimeter and go to another floor where the ancestor vampire is? Do you think it makes sense that a race that can morph, can infiltrate the royal palace of an country willy-nilly, with apparent people who are very high on the power scale just because he put a distraction? Then said race that can morph, manages to kill every single guard (who were apparently very competent btw) take the MC and just fly away under everyone's eye? Why doesn't every other faction just uses vampires to infiltrate then, considering they can even bypass the security of a protected prince that is the sole heir of their kingdom, they should be able to bypass pretty much every random noble security out there right? These sorts of situations are everywhere, the MC stays a weakling and his party is shat on because the author wants to setup the MC struggling in a nonsensical manner.

[collapse]

One of my major complaints with this novels is how the side character's are so damn useless, the guards and his proctorate are set to be extremely strong given their power levels, but what do we see? They struggle against random assassins, they struggle against illegal refugees who were fleeing from a country due to political maneuver, they struggle against every single new enemy the main character has to face and here again, we see it, we see the MC close to dying again, ad nauseum.

It's extremely irritating when a author undermines part of his own world building for the sake of driving a narrative, and in this case it's not worth it at all. Yeah we get it, the world is f*cked up, MC will get close to death and being royalty will make him a target but can you please not repeat this after every 20 chapters or so? Can you not undermine the power level of your characters and make them more incompetent than they should be in order to create such a situation? CAN YOU MAKE THE MC NOT BE BEATEN TO A PULP LIKE HE'S AN DUMBASS WHO DIDN'T MANAGE TO GROWN IN POWER FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE STORY?

Jesus f*cking christ, at least it's consistent with the dark setting I suppose, since every member of the royal family died before the MC showed up. Considering the royal palace where royalty lives gets raided every other week and any person who wants the MC life (any person=everyone) knows where he lives, any road the MC walks, the enemy will also know. It's hard to not be killed in these situations, ain't it? Ah there's also fate messing around with the MC as well, since our little main character carriage accidentally went into a certain route and was ambushed by the assassins reserved for someone else.

Anyone who praises this novel for anything other than politics and scheming is full of shit, and even then the politics are badly introduced, because you'll see that 40% of this novel are politics and infodumps related to it, the remaining aspects of this novel are all situations with weird fights that shouldn't happen that often to someone of MC's station, with a bonus of him getting his ass beat before barely clinging to life. <<less

Kingdom's Bloodline is the type of novel that I would like to see being adapted to something big with the care it deserves. Masterless Sword not only amazed me but he opened my eyes making me shocked by each and every chapter he wrote; the way he delivered the world and characters and the cultures and power struggles are just perfect and it only needs a slight push in the right direction by its own fans to get it into the big and rightful stage one day.

It's so boring

The story progression is so slow

N the jump between scene makes all the tension built up into frustration

... more>> There's really no point in MC having past life memory since it doesn't really help n although MC is body of kid he has mentality of adult but he keep getting drag into situation beyond his control.

Which is frustrating, its frustrating to see a helpless child used as a pawn and almost died multiple times under protection. Seriously the next heir n the guard power lvl is so utterly useless.

If mentality of adult n gaining edge in battle then yes readable even if the jumping pov but this is just Child abuse n a boring drawn out one at that

2 star for the world building n motivated side characters that have intellect in decision making <<less

The slow paced main plot is interesting, however, the story is tiresome to read. 11 chapters in and so far it is only a forced plot event. Namely, plot armor. If the world building was less of an info dump, and constant filler, I mightve kept reading to give it more of a chance. But even with that, the main plot progression seems to be really slow paced, and the amount of world building, together with the only plot event having plot armor annoyed me.

This novel is all trough and no crest. The plot drags the MC behind it while beating him with the path. There's an absolute ton of semi-relevant side characters with robust back stories. But they're all horrible people. If someone does something nice, it's because the situation triggered their PTSD.

If you're the type that exhaustively searches for NPCs and flavor text in RPGs to drag out nuggets of lore, this book might be for you. However, don't expect any catharsis. If this series is going somewhere, they certainly haven't told... more>> the reader about it within 100 chapters. <<less

No pace at all. Skiping 3-4 perspectives per chapter. The author doesn't let the reader have any kind of breake. MC doesn't have any kind of control to the plot other than "miraculous" events that save him. Too many female side characters for a middleage setting. To many creatures. Vampires dominate the first 100 chapters...

It had great potential had the pace been better and the focus sett moore on the politican and meddieval aspect of the story. Unrewarding at frustrating story after 100 chapters.

Kingdom's Bloodline is a slow well padded story with some real political and character depth. The padding is usually well integrated into the story and doesn't seem jarring or too repetitive. The story is let down, however, by the authors frequent use of one cliche which is that no character ever seems to travel with enough security to be of any use - a fact which allows the author to force in multiple useless fight arcs.

To elaborate, a few examples of this lack of story can be seen in how... more>> every single time the main character is travelling somewhere - whether this be from his house to the palace or from his country to another there is at least one assassination attempt or all out fight - yet the MC never learns from this. Having survived several assassination attempts and in the process of heading out to another incredibly dangerous country he chooses (for s*upid plot reasons) to only take a small retinue of followers - all of whom soon begin to die as a result of fights.

Overall this novel is well written enough that you may be able to overlook this cliche, but do be aware that it is ever present in Kingdom's Bloodline. <<less

First off, the translation is very good or that the writer of this novel is. The writing is much refined compared to many of the other chinese novels, but because of that, the story goes at a snails pace.

Started off very dark, which wasn't a bad thing however it starts to fall off after that. Thales, the main character of the novel is a reincarnator, yet he fails to act like one 80% of the time; instead all he does is cry, whine and acts like a little kid, and... more>> I don't mean in front of others, I mean when he's alone and thinking to himself. There are lots of twists and turns in this story some that you might not even suspect because of that and the writing/translation, I'm giving this a 3 instead of a 1.

Very slow moving novel, 40% of the time you'll be in other characters POV, however at least they aren't 1 sided characters. <<less
