The fat cat Black Tubby said, “Supreme Commander is a good person, meow!”

The bird Grandfather Sparrow said, “Supreme Commander is a good person, chirp!”

The little mouse Oil Jar also said, “Supreme Commander is a good person, squeak!”

Furthermore, the weasel Great Immortal said, “You and Supreme Commander are a match made in Heaven~”

All of the little animals told Ning Xiaoyao about Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander! So, Ning Xiaoyao believed that this Supreme Commander named Lou Zigui had to be a good guy. As to whether or not they were a match made in Heaven…

The fat cat Black Tubby clawed at Ning Xiaoyao. “You wrote the decree sentencing Supreme Commander to death in the execution grounds, ah! You fatuous, self-indulgent ruler!!!”

Ning Xiayao replied, “…”

Ning Xiaoyao is a genetically evolved army doctor from a zombie-infested apocalyptic world. One day, she transmigrates to the past as the next emperor of an ancient country. But wait, isn’t she a girl?!

As it turns out, she’s a disguised stand-in for her baby brother under the “loving” care of the empress dowager, her mother and future mu*derer. Faced with her impending death, Ning Xiaoyao must thwart the schemes of her family to survive in a palace allied against her. But how does a zombie-killing expert with supernormal strength, healing powers, and the ability to understand animals deal with the intricacies of court politics?

“If nothing else works, I’ll just beat them all up!”

This novel definitely isn't without its faults, but I really enjoyed the humor and the main character. Xiaoyao is incredibly engaging and easily my favorite character in the novel, and her interactions with all of the other characters make me laugh.

I know that the male lead isn't very popular with the readers, but I think he was written very well. He'll put his duties first, and even detach himself from his emotions. He got really scummy, so it's definitely not everyone's type, but I liked the ending.

For me, the strong... more>> points in this novel were the engaging characters and their sweet relationships, the humor, and the unique take on Xiaoyao's OP-ness (a breath of fresh air after reading so many novels about poison experts and genius doctors). As others have mentioned, the male lead's a pretty manipulative jerk, but it was nowhere close to a dealbreaker for me and I thought he was a super interesting character. This is easily one of my favorite novels and I've already reread it a couple of times!

(Also, I have to mention that the translation is incredible. I'm a huge fan of Ruyi's translations (the translator for chapters 1-269) in general and I'm in awe of how seamless the translation is despite the ancient setting, name puns, etc. Grace (the translator for the rest of the chapters) also did excellent! I didn't actually notice the switch until I saw the announcement.) <<less

It's a farce of palace politics, gender bender, and foreign invasions. I don't think the MC is dumb, it's just that her life was pretty simple and now there's all these complicated things she has to deal with.

Actually, , I really like this story. Unlike other transmigrated story that MC know all that will happen, or act as elegant and ladylike manner, our xiaoyao is very funny and lively. But, in half later story, I start doubt about what the author want to do about the plot.

if author must make lou zigui dare abandoned xiayaou, I think he deserved more punishment, like jianghu road is curved, MC must learn her lesson and had her character growth. And what author want to do about young lord? I ship him more than lou zigui.

But, overall, I enjoy this story so much. Despite all shortcoming, this novel is so greaaat!! Must read one.. <<less

a little too long for my liking but it’s funny! The MC isn’t good at all the political machinations and strong hands her way through stuff which makes for a good laugh frequently. But there was too much of it so I skipped to the end.

Tl;dr: A bit of an over-the-top comedy that doesn't itself too seriously to begin with.

The premise of the story might not be one everyone can get behind. Our MC is a young woman who has lived her life during a zombie apocalypse. At some point in time humanity "evolved" with the help of technology to be able to heal their own bodies, have super-human strength, speed, etc. These abilities are also included within the body our MC finds herself transmigrating into. So far, nothing too out of the ordinary for... more>> some transmigration stories. We've seen plenty of parts where AIs or other assisting tools have been carried along to the new body despite it not making a whole heap of sense. So that is not the problem. What I think some will find troublesome is the MC's attitude and character. She is very carefree and does whatever she wants for the most part. She isn't a good schemer or plotter, nor a great tactician or leader (though her handling of things and her subordinates' interpretations do tend to make people be loyal to her and respect her leadership). Instead she relies on a host of people to help navigate her through the problems she faces. Namely her mother and her maternal grandfather having schemed to get her, a girl, installed as the Emperor, and then getting rid of her once her younger brother comes of age.

I personally loved her naive attitude, not taking any sh*t and not caring for the consequences. It leads to a lot of funny moments. And at the start, I did quite enjoy the male lead. Mostly because he was, at least on the romantic side of things, not a forceful person who just took what he wanted (if anything it'd be closer to say it was the other way around). However, at a certain point how he goes about doing political and military tasks for the female lead without her input gets to be grating. But despite that it was still far from enough to keep from reading the novel.

Another point that is both positive and negative is that there a large cast of side characters, both on the female lead's side and opposing her. A lot of these are great. Elder Li is a fantastic example, and especially how the female lead is for some odd reason frightened of him despite being able to squish him in an instant if need be. However, with all that being said, the amount of side characters get to be quite a lot after a while and towards the end as some of these characters started reappearing a hundred or more chapters since we last saw them it got to be very confusing. It was never a problem up to the end, but it was a definite point of annoyance for me.

And finally, it can't be ignored that the ending was massively rushed. And a lot of plot points were either resolved off-screen

or ignored completely.

Overall though, it was a very funny read despite the novel taking a very serious turn towards the latter end and missing a few plot points in its resolution as well as being rushed. I'd rate it at a very solid 4/5. <<less

Just one more chapterrrrrr.

I tried MTL but as usual, historical genre makes MTL 100x harder.

If you're looking for a different transmigration novel then try this. You'll get the romance, fluff, suspense, comedy, hatred... all in one go. I only regret it's a bit too short for the fluffy part.

I love it. Its funny, clever and unpredictable. The first few chapters may feel too overdone but I promise you are gonna love it. The female MC is hilarious, carefree and not the typical irritating female lead. The ML is very devoted to the MC.

Spoiler

ML tries to take control of everything because he thinks the MC is too kind and acts against her wishes to kill everyone who tries to hurt her but MC manages to solve most of these problems and forgives the ML because he is just trying to protect her and she is generally quite carefree and thinks he is a good man regardless.

Basically its a difference of values of a person living in the feudal era (ML) where everything has a hierarchy and one who lived post apocalypse (MC) where human life is more precious and there are no rules.

Don't be fooled by the starting of the novel, its not all about the saving people and living the royal life with many people falling for the MC. Till chapter 255 there is only one love interest and their relationship evolves from casual ho*kup on the part of MC and an obligation or duty from the ML's part to true love in the case of ML. The MC although she agreed to marry him and thinks of him as her boyfriend and most trusted person, there is still a long way to go before she starts to think of him as her true love. Probably because the MC is still in her teens (her actual age in her last life was older) and is immature while the ML is a mature older guy.

The novel is basically all about conspiracies. Its more lighthearted than heavy because of the MC's attitude but the plot is very clever and there is a lot of face slapping.

[collapse]

I love all the characters. Its a very funny and interesting novel full of face slapping. Female MC is a very strong woman. ML and MC's relationship is very cute. <<less
