Evil God Average

Description

When she stands, she’s like a white peony. When she sits, she’s like a tree peony. When she walks, she’s like a lily flower. And when you look her in the eyes, she’s like the Great King of Terror.

Despite having the qualities to be a peerless bishoujo, because of the look of her eyes and that atmosphere of hers, she’s feared by others; such a girl is forcefully sent to another world.

Being told that she would be granted a wish as a special favour, the girl made a wish────

“Make my eyes and atmosphere normal please.”

This is a story recounting the lifestyle in a parallel world of a girl who would be perfect (probably) if just her one weakpoint was overcome.

A fantasy comedy with magic, dungeons, and a hero and demon king(candidate) who she gets tangled up with.

She’s cursed though.

Going from the comments & ratings, I expected more. The concept is good but the story, characters, dialogues & basically everything else is just so childish! or maybe average is a better word (-_-)

Anyways, I did finish reading it, but it wasn't something which had me wanting more

In fact there could have been so much more! ah... it's left a luke warm feeling

Read it if u like... maybe it'll satisfy u?

This book is average in which will make a mere demon king or even hero Laugh very hard. The story is light, with no complicated scheming villains. While the plot can be exposed further, but I'm glad that the main story ends the way it should be. No complaints though I really want to see their daily care free life more and more.

I think this is overrated. This is similar to tensei shitara slime datta ken, but isn't... in fact it's way worse. I could not immerse myself well with the main lead. She isn't bad, and the story isn't too bad, but there are times im like 'WTF'?!

The author made the character seem like an OP character and one that just went along with things, but a bit failing if I do compare it to tensei shitara slime. And sometimes the reasoning the story had to go along with made... more>> me irritated.

Spoiler

the 3 god's have a competition. Two of them send in their best men to see who conquers the dungeon. If no one conquers it in a years time, it's the mc's win. The one that wins in the end is someone who didn't even 'conquer' it but just happened to be a friend who just happened to be there at the end and picks up the final trophy?! And then they all come to a conclusion in a second that the winner is that person. Being that friend was also of another race and worshiper of one of the other gods, the main lead did not win......-_-........

[collapse]

I stopped after realizing how irritated I was and also that I couldn't get into the story as well as other novels. I believe this would have been a great story if the author spent more time building up tension and character. It is somehow lacking in both. <<less

A simple, straightforward story. Pretty Japanese high school girl with scary eyes piques the interest of a trickster god from a higher plane of existence and gets thrown into a magical world. At first it looks like your run-of-the-mill isekai story, with the heroine even trying her hand at adventuring, but due to her circumstances (namely that the aforementioned trickster god made her have the aura and glare of an "average" god of evil), she has to leave town and start anew as a dungeon master. Then things get weirder... more>> and weirder.

First off, as I said above, the story is incredibly straightforward. While the side-stories done from different POVs add some fluff to the story at the end of each volume, the main plotline is streamlined to the extreme. It sets out to tell a story, and it does so without any added fat. In some ways I respect the author for that attitude in the age of never-ending ligh- and webnovels that keep piling up the padding for years.

Overall this was a nice, fluffy read. The characters are not particularly deep, but they were entertaining, and since there were not a lot of them, they all got just enough screen time to not be completely one-note.

The plot, thin as it is, actually follows a logical escalation pattern and it's written well, with the protagonist's personality actually reflecting in the narration (which should be a given, but a lot of light-novel authors seem not to get this and have their MCs narrate like a robot).

In the end this was sort of the literary equivalent of comfort-food. The reason why I knocked one star down was the shallow worldbuilding and, more importantly, the lame ending.
Spoiler

So, in the end the Evil God shows up and presents the protagonist with the opportunity to become a human again, and she chooses to accept it, dividing herself to be a "Divine" and a "Human" version existing at the same time, so that the divine version could stay in her temple and do nothing while her human version could go out into the world and... oh, wait... I mean, so her human version could live in her mansion a few hundred meters from the temple and do nothing. How riveting.

[collapse]

So yeah, in the end this was an enjoyable read. It did a bit of deconstruction, it did a bit of comedy, it did a bit of combat and suspense, but overall it was a pretty mellow novel I could recommend for reading under the blankets during a long winter night. It won't floor you or change the way you look at fiction, but not all stories have to do that. <<less

A story about a girl who became a "my pace" kinda god. It's a good, solid story with very interesting characters. The plot is pretty lighthearted and episodic, mostly about Anri's ascent to godhood/dungeon master and her establishment as a god while managing her dungeon.

Characterwise, anri is calm and levelheaded. A hikkimori at heart, she's very likable but very... stagnant? Its like if you gave OP powers to a cat but the cat only wants to eat and sleep and laze around in their lair. Honestly; it could be said... more>> that there's not a single piece of character development in this entire story, everyone is a little bit of "what you see is what you get".

Plotwise, it's mostly about anri's dungeon management at the beginning and then watching the "battle" later on to see what kinda god duties she will be given. Last volume is a little lacking and nonsensical, as it's mostly about how anri accidental gave "life" to a statue and now they must stop it.

overall, it's a good comedy story with very little plot but high in entertainment value. If you're looking for a plot heavy/intricate story about becoming a god you might be turned off. I also say that the sequel is very cliche and has very little entertainment value so stick with the main two volumes, read the third if you're kinda desperate for something to eat up time. <<less

Having read the entire main story of this novel I can easily say that I feel this is way overrated.

This novel is basically about a young girl being being lead around by the nose by everyone else while having s*upid things thrown at her that she'll pitifully be known as for eternity despite it being contrary to how she actually is, she's pitiful and apparently it's supposed to be funny, but yea.. It's just lame.

I did smile at times, but I did at no time burst out laughing, I did... more>> not even chuckle at any time, the exaggerated situations and blatant attempts at comedy just become annoying instead.

The characters are too shallow and some situations, like when she was peeked at naked, feel totally random and out of place, I mention it because it isn't really a spoiler since it doesn't fit into the story at all, it does nothing, it's mentioned once afterwards and serves no purpose whatsoever. Just like how some characters serve no purpose and the side stories are even more random and just filler, there isn't even any comedy in those. <<less

Protagonist girl is OP? Her presence may flinch even the greatest of monsters and her glare would send even the Demon King groveling to the ground. But in actuality, she is *only* an Evil God Average.

the novel is pretty interesting. a girl is transferred to another world by a bored evil god, giving her "his blessing." after that, she gathers info about the one who sent her into the world and the world and the misunderstanding between her and other people occur. the novel is full of comedy and fluffy scenes... and the side stories are the best... we can see from others' pov, how "terrifying" MC (and her followers/friends) could be... the personality of the characters here are pretty good, you can see some... more>> of their pasts that make them act like that in the current time. recommended if you are looking for slice-of-life novel and easy-going protagonist ( ̄^ ̄) ゞ <<less

Slice of life. Fluffy. Feel good. Short (like really short compared to other light novels) and sweet. It's slightly different from the other generic light novels and is funny to boot. The female protagonist is not wimpy, is smart and very likable.

Finally thumbs up to the writers and translators...

I thoroughly enjoyed the read :)

MC is someone who didn't want the job of being a dungeon master but got it anyway. A light read about her life and how she goes about her day "idling around".

Read this to see just how "average" her abilities are and how she adapts to such a different world.

I really enjoyed reading the novel! Not just because of her OPness but how she interacted with the other characters and the perception they have of her.

This story is quite pleasant to read and a great change of pace from the old jp MC who are weak/naive.

MC is still somewhat naive, but the comedy of being OP and unreasonably scary without knowing how to deal with this is incredibly funny.

Worth reading.

This is an average LN story, just like its title. You'll find an overpowered MC just like other isekai LN genre out there. But the thing is, MC in this story is not really smart. Imagine a normal girl without any skill or any talent just a plain girl from real world has been thrown to other world without experiencing a fresh start from a baby state, what would you think will happen? The habit of that girl won't change, the way that girl will think also won't change. So... more>> don't expect her to suddenly change her attitude or suddenly become talented smart girl. All she get from transferring into a new world was just a new power!

As I stated earlier, this is an average LN with its own plot/story where the MC is former normal girl without any talent and there's nothing special from her former life experience. Transferring to the new world didn't change that, she only get a new power with extra curse just to bother her life a little bit in the new wolrd. Moreover, since from previous life she's just a plain girl, in the new world she's just an OP beeing without any ambition or clear goal event after 20 chapters. So in general, it's not that good but it's not really bad either, just average where sometimes you find it interesting but you'll also find it boring too. <<less

First and foremost if you're one of those people who's looking for something serious or mind blowing novel then this one is prolly not one for you.

But if you're one of those whose looking for something relaxing and have a good laugh while reading then Evil God Average is just the right novel to read.

Well the novels has a lot of stomach aching laughing moments so be prepared upon reading this one. You've been warned

Most isekai novels try to drag it on as much as possible. That is not the case with this one. Story and characters are interesting. Progression is constant, it never drags on.

Pretty good for those that like op MC isekai novels.

As one of the first Japanese light novels I have ever read, I am giving this a full rating!

1. The MC is OP, calm, and likable. The side characters more or less admire the MC, so in a sense, the novel has a light undertone of shoujo ai/yuri to it or a harem I guess? Anyways, it's not too obvious but just something I felt while reading the novel.

2. The storyline is light with no defined villain, so it lean towards a more warm atmosphere. The pacing is smooth and... more>> steady, so it makes a great read to pass the time with. There is no heart pounding adventures or serious scenarios, just a relaxed read so don't expect too much out of it.

3. The interactions between the MC and the side characters are sweet and simple. You can almost feel the loyalty and admiration that exudes from the side characters. After a while, I started thinking that the MC is a pretty tsundere character, which is cute.

Overall, this was a good read and I recommend this as a starter novel for those new to Japanese novels because it is simple and sweet. <<less

Hilarious religious/isekai story~ just taking in all cliches and making fun of them..

Spoiler

summonig heroes: she was "cloned" from her original self

world building: mostly done and managed by a fervent worshiper

holy wars: solved by a bet that culminated in the unification of two mortal enemies

s*aves: pseudo sisters, helpers

reverse harem: it seems she ends up as an old maid..

enemy nations: cowed by the overzealous powers of misunderstandings

the darkest text in history: apparently makes you stub your pinky a lot

level system: MC never left level 1 despite being ridiculously OP

Evil god: she's never taken a life

Evil god level up > Weirdo god...

pointy eared beauties: demons

the ruination of everything everyone believed in: the world's original gods are a bunch of freeloaders..

obligatory adventurers guild quests: MC is so OP she can only do the basic herb collecting ones

obligatory senior adventurer bully: was just trying to help by pretending to be a bad guy

Japanese culture worship: minimal references supposedly related to summoned heroes

Also: rather than getting rid of an invading god in their territories, the original gods of that world chose to "give MC a chance" and kindly treated her like senpais and ruthlessly tried to push all the hard work on her.. Going completly against the expectations of the Evil god who first summoned her for the sake of chaos. Of course he'd be winning either way - but we see the MC getting one up over him in the end.

[collapse]

There isn't a lot of background on the MC - rather, the focus of the stories is mainly kept on the present action and the consequences of choice.. We see the MC paying dearly for her poor choices even if they only make her more powerful, its not what she wanted at all - her Karma sucks. I laughed myself to tears at every turn~ And the writing work is pretty decent!

Might be full of cliches, but if you like the genre its a good, unexpected light hearted read. <<less

Very interesting... The main lead has very evil looking eyes and she terrifies anyone she has eye contact with.

After getting transported to another world, it’s the same situation. She becomes a dungeon master and important things start happening from there. Gaining new friends, getting new subordinates, etc.

One minor complaint I have is that the main lead didn’t have a ultimate goal at the end...

Overall though, if you just want to be entertained, this is the perfect story.

At the beginning she didn’t want to be a dungeon master though, and if you read it through, you’ll understand that she is originally —, which is actually shocking!

Saying that though, I recommend it for comedy because of, well actually anything. Especially during the dungeon capture... who am I kidding, even the capture of the dungeon was a laugh! Even --- because of it!
