I really hoped this site can give the option of 4.5 star.

Anyway, good laid back story about cooking in the different world. If you're looking for bad ass MC that can overpower anything, this is not for you as the MC doesn't know how to fight. He sure knows how to cook though.

Story is almost perfect, but the plot is still a bit lacking for me. I mean sure forest tribe thinks about survival the most, but thinking they've never thought about making the food tasty for the next 80... more>> years is unbelievable. Not to mention only taking the legs of the game they kill because the other meat is 'stinky' kind of defeat the whole survival point. If they really focused on only survival they would have find a way to reduce the smell so that more meat can be obtained. <<less

No substantive difference between the WN and the LN. Suggest you read the LN translated by Skythewood.

It's a simple story. MC shows up in other world, gets picked up by a local tomboy girl. The focus is on the MC butchering a "wild bore" and making 2 dishes; improving the simple stew, and hamburger patties. The writing style is rather poor. It's simple declarative statements, dialog, and block descriptions when the MC enters a new area. A big plus is the world building, it's been relatively well done so far.... more>> The lack in knowledge in bleeding pray is some artificial s*upidity, but it's explained away in a smart way. The lack in cooking diversity is also explained as the tribe was transplanted to the area 80 years ago, so the tribe doesn't have a long history cooking with the local ingredients. (Though you'd think they would come up with some of the ideas in 80 years)

It will be interesting in seeing how the author can weave making new dishes in with an interesting plot line. My main hangup is the author poor writing style. <<less

This is a very solid story. The main protagonist is Tsurumi Asuta. He was working as an apprentice cook at a family restaurant, managed by his father. One day a fire broke out, for the sake of his father’s cherished knife [Santoku Houchou – the Japanese kind] he ran back inside to retrieve it and thus met his end. When he awakes he is saved by a girl named ‘Ai Fa’ from the [People of Morihen]. Now he must find a place for himself in a different world, with the... more>> skills he has... COOKING!

I really like this Light Novel. The series has great pacing with good character and world-building. The cast is large and varied, there are no badly written characters, they all have their own unique traits that help them stand out. Also, the relationship between the two MC’s is nice 🙂 There are no cheat abilities, no grand prophecies, no epic battles with magic and explosions. It all feels really grounded and believable. Because a large part of the plot revolves around cooking, the food descriptions are all top-notch, with heavy emphasis put on describing the actual preparation of the dish. I recommend having a snack on hand when reading this one.

There are some grammar and spelling mistakes in this one, but because it is a fan translation its to be expected. Don't let it bother you, they are minor, but they are there.
The fan translations go up to volume 13 and then stop because the official translations started and they are only up to like book 8. <<less
