[The gong (seme) and shou (uke) have no blood relation, are also not in the same household register, do not share a father nor a mother, this is a serious declaration.] ~~~

In this life, Shu Ning was a joke, even to his death. Treated as a stepping stone by his biological mother, opening a path for his younger brother, only to realize all this when dying.

Shu Ning, who was thirsty for maternal love, was extremely hardworking, acting as a well-behaved child in front of his father, while fighting with his elder brother, although his IQ was not high, he still played dirty tricks to the utmost. Constantly being encouraged by his mother’s warm feelings, the more he obstructed his elder brother, the braver he got. When he met with a mishap, his mother took his younger brother and escaped to a faraway place, leaving Shu Ning alone to bear the crime and get thrown into jail.

Love is more solid than gold, his lover decided to embrace another man.

Attaching great importance to friendship, not only did they take the time to visit Shu Ning in jail and laugh at him, they even rubbed salt in the wound.

His most loved and respected mother did not even bother to show her face.

However, when he closed his eyes, his elder brother came. Truth was, it was Shu Heng who had arranged for him to be able to live comfortably in prison.

If he hadn’t followed them and was a clever little brother, would it all have changed? In the blink of an eye, Shu Ning returned to the time where he was a junior high school student.

Two-faced, controlling elder brother gong X Clever and cute little wolf shou.

Elder brother thinks that younger brother is very cute, very adorable, very soft, how could he be this close to the ideal?

The younger brother is thinking, hahaha… that elder brother with facial nerve paralysis could blush? What happened to your cold and handsome image? Becoming foolish with just one kiss? What happened to your mysophobia? I’m just sitting in your lap and your whole body stiffened up? ╮(╯▽╰)╭

To prevent his elder brother from thinking that Shu Ning was after the company, Shu Ning relied on memories from his previous life to earn a bit of money, becoming financially independent while being a silkpants, also slowly raising that soft and immature elder brother, Shu Ning felt that these days were just too comfortable. However… why is his elder brother becoming more and more strange? What is this sleeping together for warmth? What is this good morning and good night kiss? Do you really take me for a brat? Σ( ° △ °|||)

Note: The ‘Silkpants’ part means mean a rich and hedonistic son.

This novel is super problematic. The translator is amazing, but the novel is just... ugh.

The misogynistic attitude towards women is nearly unbearable, and the way r*pe is looked at as an acceptable punishment is horrifying. Additionally, the idea that women simply have to accept their husband’s mistresses, that they should be divorced if they are r*ped, that every woman is calculating her way into status, the paedophilia on the ML’s side, the hatred towards an actual unborn child... yeah.

If you can get past all that the book is ok. I... more>> couldn’t. The sheer cruelty and lack of decency in this book turned me off. Not one person in this book is a genuinely good person. It’s so messed up. <<less

My first review. I am really struggling to finish it. Many have talked about the grooming by Shu Heng... the fact that the MC is actuallu 30 makes it tolerable... barely.

My true issue is the revenge aspects of the novel. People who offended the MC, such as his previous life's boyfriend being an insensitive pr*ck, resulted in the MC forcing him into prostitution and degradation followed by a lifetime of captivity some anonymous island. Others who where never a threat were gang r*ped / bankrupted/jailed etc. The level of revenge... more>> was pathological.

Personally I like some "pa pa pa pa pa" but, holly hell, not a significant part of almost every chapter.

The best part of the novel ended up being the translators comments, even they were over the novel.

I usually finish what I start but this is such a struggle I'm going to make up my own ending with infinite new businesses, much face-slapping, super happy dads and granddad when the couple has some kids. There, done. Moving on.

Can't seem to change the vote stars from 4, I want to give a 3. <<less

wanted to give it 2.5 stars

Ugh, I really don’t know where to start. There are many fluffy parts in the story that I enjoyed, especially the family bonding and the two uncles. However, there were many parts in this novel that left a bad taste in my mouth. The age of the MC was a huge turn off— that was my number one problem. His revenge against his enemies were too cruel, except for his mother. I feel like he went too easy on her.

As for his ex-lover who cheated;... more>> what happened to him, he did not deserve at all. That was way too messed up, especially since this was all happening at the age of 15 years old.
Spoiler

The MC was a pimp who had poor Wang Cong r*ped by a man twice his age just so he could pay his mother’s hospital bills— becoming a prostitute in the end. All his ex did was cheat on him.

[collapse]
I feel like the author could’ve waited until they were grown adults to deal with MC’d friends. Could’ve done something to his business or anything— instead of choosing such a horrible way of having revenge.

I feel like the brother shouldn’t have had such a bad ending. He literally did nothing wrong. Technically speaking, if the younger brother was born when the MC was 13, then by the time the MC died in the beginning, he should have been 18 years old. Not even a full fledged adult. The mother is the one who orchestrated everything, and manipulated the younger son to act like a spoiled brat. The MC had so much time to turn the kid around into becoming a good child. Keeping him away and isolating him from the family was so messed up. You’re literally a 31 year old man trapped in a 13 years old body. Act like it, since you wanna keep mentioning it. The fact that MC acted that away against a little kid was despicable. I felt bad for kid because he wasn’t able to have a family at all. <<less

I read everything even when I wanted to drop this novel I continued because I wanted future readers to know I tried. Let's focus on the plot for a second okay and put the weird ass pedo moments between the MC and ML aside. I read this for the plot. I wanted to see how revenge went and it was pretty good seeing the MC's mom f*cking get face slapped. But then as a reader you start to see how the MC became ruthless toward past enemies and I MEAN... more>> RUTHLESS! The punishment does not fit the crime!!! It was overboard and not in an eye for an eye makes a whole world blind type of way but like taking the eye, the tongue, just everything!! Like wtf man. Chill. Besides those parts, the MC was at his best away from the ML. I love when the MC is interacting with other characters because he's actually has a brain and is very calm. He's just acts like his age which is thirty.

Now let's go back to the uncomfortable/annoying relationship the MC has with the ML. Even before MC realizes what's going on the ML is sexualizing the MC by making the MC put on pajamas with fur tails on them. He takes baths with him. The MC for some reason is utterly oblivious for a long while. It's weird because ML does not know MC is mentally a thirty year old and the MC never acts like an adult around him. There's also something else that annoys me. Like literally after they get together I kid you not they're like f*cking every chapter like STOP. I feel like they never effing just talk. It's just s*x s*x s*x s*x s*x s*x s*x SEX!!!!! I know I'm ranting! I'm ranting but like it's just too much. I feel like the novel could have went with platonic and distant relationship at first but the author instantly made the ML fall for the MC very quickly it was just completely out of the blue. This was the first mistake. Instead of building up to platonic friendship then some SLOWburn romance and build relationships with other characters which the author had plenty of time to do because the MC was physically 13, the novel decided to make the ML fall for a 13 yr old. The second was making the MC act younger than he really was. I felt like the ML just fell for the MC because he acted cute but not for something real like his PERSONALITY.

Even the translator was thinking about giving up on this novel. The translator was like so done with it but managed to somehow power through.

I feel like I'm being generous with 3 stars but like the beginning seemed so good. The novel could have gone in a different better direction but chose not to. <<less

Okay, I was interested at the story at first but the more I read it, the more it turned my interest off.

  • It started of cute at first but the ML is borderline pedophilic and creepy considering MC is in a body of a 13 year old
  • The things MC does for revenge in comparison to how that character treated him in his previous life isnt equal. A character wasnt even be that bad but then suddenly hes forced into a life of prostitution
  • Also the casual r*pe implications and scenes of his enemies is disturbing
  • MC just straight up hates his younger brother whos a baby and who he knows was heavily influenced by his mom
  • Every women character is either a villain or portrayed as someone annoying (I get that a lot of bl has this but having women characters with no depth whatsoever and only serve as someone that the MC or ML can insult has sexist undertones)
  • Has homophobic moments sprinkled throughout

This is one of the best novel I've read. I'll definitely re-read it.

50% romance, 50% face-slapping

I really like face-slapping/strong-minded MC and this one doesn't disappoint me.

And how they do things to get revenge is not out of logic. Although ML is too powerful, MC is not weak either.

Moreover, the ending is wrapped-up so nicely. Everything is answered, author doesn't left me hanging!

Spoiler

There aren't any good female character in this novel. It's like the author has some grudges against mother figure. Author depicted female here as the scheming and greedy type. Not all that bad 'tho. Only some that are beyond saving.

[collapse]

Rather than drama where MC acted so pitiful and everywhere they went they ended up in bad luck, then ML come in shining armor, these protagonists are more satisfying. Cruel, but if you see it from MC's POV then it is justifiable and he gives them choices. It's just... they're beyond saving.

*** EDIT ***

WHY? It's so sad to see the rating dropped...

So this is a WARNING and I think it should be clear from the synopsis??? Eitherway, I'm gonna say it here.

  • I don't like paedophile too, but this one is not really 'that kind of thing'. ML tried really hard to wait until MC's coming of age and MC himself is actually 30 yo in soul. And ML is not that old. 5 years older than MC. Well, if the both of them are children, then it's okay? I mean, MC's cousin is even worse in my opinion..!
  • No, they ARE NOT related by blood. But their harmony as brothers was quite powerful before they realize their feelings and so it seems like readers got the impression they're somehow still brothers even after doing it (?).
  • MC inner side is 30 yo, yes, but how could this be a problem?? It is the setting of the story! On the contrary, I think this makes the story more real because there's no way a genuine 13 yo can do business and has a calmness like MC (just look at ML. He is too powerful that I'm also wondering where he got those wisdom in his young age).
If after reading those points you feel disgusted or it's not your cup of tea, then don't read it. Really.

-- EDIT 2 --

I am really angry. Why some people think that it is unjustice to 'prevent' something that has not happened yet, but is going to happen? Did u miss the part where MC given the villains a choice but they still went the same path?

Like, MC's hate for SY and other villains. Do you mean rather than revenge, he should stay far away from these villains like some other rebirth novels? Well, I am not against it, but surely you should know his circustances? He would be chewed alive! MC hates for villains are from his last life. His grievance is too deep, especially that bastard ex-boyfriend! MC help him and... well, typing this just makes me so angry so I won't talk about that.

And btw I've already forgot what SY did in MC's last life and what actually happen to him in the end. But from my fuzzy memory, isn't MC still care for SY? He put him in the branch house or something and there's a nanny (???) At least MC not put him in orphanage.

MC's hate is understandable. He has trauma from his last life. If you are in his shoes, do you believe these villains will reform themselves?

Surely, those who think these villains don't deserve it, you either really have a good heart and believe in humanity or naive...

Me? I believe in karma and think MC rebirth as a branch world / timeline. You cannot erase what had happened in last life. Furthermore, even if MC actually going back in time and there's no 'branch world', these villains still take 'the same path'. <<less

However, I enjoyed the story anyway so I closed my eyes on that.

What I didn't like is.

Spoiler

Just because in the past life someone is bad they assumed he will be bad in this life too and treated him harsly. Shu Yao was a newborn baby, MC could have educated him from very young rather than hate his very existence. I think it's really unfair that he wasn't given a chance. All his life he will just keep on wondering why. MC hates him so much.

Blergh.

That has literally been my mood the entire time reading this. The only reason I even made it this far is out of sheer will, but I don't hate myself, so I let myself stop once I hit the triple digits.

As you can see from the other reviews, there's a lot that's just fundamentally and morally wrong with this story. Like. The MC is f*cking 13 years old. The ML is 18. Five years isn't that much of an age gap, but it's wrong when one person is a god... more>> damn child and the other is an adult. It's not an innocent kinda love either — ML is actively fantasizing about MC's "undernourished calves" and "white soft tummy". And he even gets physical. Though sleeping together is initiated by the MC at first, it's proposed with the innocence of a scared child not wanting to be alone, and it certainly doesn't justify the ML using the time the MC is unconscious to grope his body and kiss him. Or even change his clothes to weird animal cosplay and lingerie. Which is, to say the least, very f*cking weird and creepy. Also, the ML more or less pressures MC to constantly bathe with him, and there's this one scene that was so revolting that I had to put my phone down and suppress my desire to run my head against the wall.

Spoiler

ML is bathing with MC and sees his as*hole and??? Fondles it under the guise of "washing" it out???THE MC IS STILL 13 YOU pe*ophile.

[collapse]

The thing that gets me the most is that the MC, who is mentally 30, doesn't f*cking see these warning signs. I get that he's supposed to be naive, and that his naivety is what led to his death his first life, and that it's very realistic for his naivety to not suddenly disappear. However, having him think that his "brother" is just being "affectionate" when the ML has his god damn tongue in his mouth and is actively groping his ass is a huge f*cking stretch, yeah?

If you're not convinced of how truly awful this novel is, then let me tell you that the plot wasn't that great either. It was subpar at best, and it moved like f*cking molasses. Each chapter of this novel is pretty long, yet I never felt like anything was accomplished after I was done reading it. The antagonists were boring (and the author apparently hates women because almost every single "bad guy" was some white lotus b*tch) and the face slapping was weak. Nothing particularly stands out to me, and I've read hundreds of better rebirth revenge stories.

The only saving grace was the translator. Though the translation did have some errors and was clearly done through MTL, it was readable and honestly, given the length and absurdity of the novel, I willing to ignore the small things. I love how the translator was well aware of the extremely repulsive nature of the ML (the FBI meme... they really did the ML like that) and I just have nothing but sheer respect for the fact that they managed to finish translating this monster. So yes, kudos to them.

They don't have s*x until the MC is of legal age so the ML is not going to jail and at the end of the day they aren't related by blood

Spoiler

All s*xual interactions in fictional media are consensual unless explicitly outlined to be otherwise in the story by the creator. It's a mutual consensual relationship because that's what the author says it is, And you can't argue against that with what the situation would be in real life because the same rules do not apply BECAUSE IT'S NOT REAL. Nobody should read a manhwa and think "This is definitely some sh*t I should do in real life." You're allowed to not like this Book. There's plenty of books I didn't like because It was just too much for me. *Hint Hint* Hua Hua Long

[collapse]

Anyway. Even with all that stuff this is actually a pretty good story. Like basically if you cut what people are complaining about this is a rebirth story about a young man who was given a second chance at life to make up for his s*upidity, to make his enemies taste what they put him through and to protect the people he loves.

If I find any other book with the same premise I'd probably binge read it. It deserves good ratings. <<less

I like this story so much, I love their relationship (Shu Heng and Shu Ning). Well, the only thing I kinda dislike is about his way of revenge I guess, it's too ruthless haha, but when you think about it again (bout Shu Ning past life), they deserve it, for example Wang Cao, he didn't do anything bad to Shu Ning yet but he already got sold off as a prostitute, I mean...... well, he deserves it since he betrayed and backstabbing Shu Ning in the past, I just shocked... more>> haha. And his little brother Shu Yao, I think if Shu Ning pampering him moderately he will be good? BUT when I think about it again and again.... NO, Shu Yao will still backstabbing Shu Ning again if he got a chance, that's all~ <<less

I was absolutely IN LOVE with this novel for the first half of it. It was funny when it needed to be, serious and thought provoking when it was appropriate and just the right amount of scheming and innocence by the Shu Ning (MC)...

And then after he hooks up with ML around halfway to 2/3rds into the novel the story goes just goes down the gutter! I wanted to drop the novel several times but I stuck with it because I wanted to finish and see if it improved.

About the... more>> sex:
Spoiler

It's shotacon pretty much the entire novel. They hook up the first time when MC is just 16 and apparently every time they have s*x MC passes out or faints but the ML keeps going at it with his unconscious body until sunrise or later. Of course, MC needs to spend the next day in bed to recover while the ML is up early in the morning to go straight to work with no issues. Apparently he does not need sleep! Just, very unrealistic. I don't find that sort of smut scene sexy. No one should be fainting every single time after s*x and if your partner is still going at it with your unconscious body every time then it's just... not right. MC is finally over 18 in like, the last two chapters where the author does a rush summary of what happens in the future, so pretty much the entire novel is shota. It's not like there's puppy love when the MC is still young and then it goes all out when he is older. ALL smut scenes is shota. Excluding the extra.

[collapse]

The ML is Shu Heng, the "big brother." He is described as being super super super handsome and having an aura that just stuns people silly whenever he just enters the room. He is cold, unemotional and rarely smiles and apparently gives people the chills. Sounds kind of like a psychopath to me. I tolerated it the first few times he was described like this because he shows a bit of warmth to MC sometimes so I thought maybe he was just tsundere. But nope, it's ONLY MC that gets that smile. No family or friends get any warmth and since MC is asleep or fainted half the time he is with Shu Heng... yup, psychopath feels it is!

The MC was really likable in the first half, all the little traps he laid for his enemies were smart too. But like I mentioned earlier, it all goes downhill after they hook up. I thought the whole plot with his little brother and his mother would have a more significant climax but they all pretty much just gets brushed under the rug. Because his brother is so strong and powerful and smart, etc, etc, all his enemies are taken care of without too much effort from him.

I do find MC to be vicious and horrible, especially with what he did to his high school friends. Literally, in his past life all they did was fail to help him when the money disappeared. They didn't do any major plot against him or put him in harm's way (that was his mom) but in his rebirth he goes after them ruthlessly!
Spoiler
  • His past life's BF Wang Cong left him for someone else. In his rebirth the BF was still the same, arrogant and prideful but from a poor family and didn't even associate much with MC. But no, MC plots for him to get r*ped and then sold into prostitution. Does not even let him go after that but makes arrangement for different men to purchase him daily and afterwards comes to laugh at him and gets all his teeth knocked out so he can be sold for the more perverse and hardcore prostitution.
  • Another HS friend Tian Jun literally didn't do anything mean in his past life beyond knowing to stay away when the water turned sour. He is the same in the rebirth, he avoided a drug scandal trouble and thought he was friends with MC. MC on the other hand makes sure he gets kidnapped and sold into the same prostitution ring as above. When TJ managed to escape by being bought by a rich dude (whom he falls in love with), MC still won't let him go and instead makes sure his name is ruined so his family will abandon him, he gets stabbed and then later dies horribly alone unable to get the momento from his lover. MC's last words to him was something like, "if no one comes to visit him then he's tr*sh that's meant to die." Just... SO SO VICIOUS to someone who did nothing to him in this life or in past life? Honestly, I couldn't sleep well the night after I read this chapter. I actually liked TJ.
  • Shu Yao, his little brother. I know in his past life the brother had a lot to do with his ruin... but the thing is, the past life had his mother coaching the little bro to develop that way. In his rebirth, he got rid of the mother pretty much right after the kid is born so MC could have simply played a more active role in shaping the kid back on the right track. But no, instead he shuns the kid and his attitude leads his father and brother and house servants to adjust their attitudes to Shu Yao as well. Is it any wonder he grew up to be resentful now? Self fulfilling prophecy!

I enjoyed reading the story but couldn't help feeling bad for Shu Yao. Even though the writer tries to tell that he has bad personalities since young, I still think he's redeemable if he's raised with more love and care, especially when his mother is not around.

The MC is an extremely envious type to the point that I feel disgusted, especially in the extra 2. I don't think he's any better than his mother after all.

Hatequit after chapter 40. I sporadically read a few random chapters after that to see if it got better. It didn't.

The story is nonexistant, it's mostly soap opera style family drama, which constantly felt like it wasn't going anywhere.

The characters are one dimensional and lack substance. They seem like caricatures and often their choices make no sense to me. OK, you're doing this shitty scheme bc.... to be evil? A villain who exists just to be evil is preschool level literature, not adult novel level literature.

The MC was awful in... more>> every way. He got a second chance, yet refused to give one to anyone else. Even his newborn baby brother!!!!!

The romance was disturbingly close to paedophilia. The MC was 13, but looked and acted like a much younger child (seriously, the descriptions made him feel like less than 10 years old). The ML was a few years older than the MC and pursued him actively (like forcing him to take a bath together with him etc). "But isn't it a rebirth story? The MC wasn't actually 13, but an adult man!" some might argue. But the ML doesn't know that!!!

In short - boring and disturbing and just bad in so many ways. <<less

Their relationship is sooo cute. Overall the story is definitely interesting and worth reading, but I have a couple key criticisms.

Funnily enough, I feel like the story was way sexier before they started doing "the papapa" lmao, but that's besides the point.

The first key criticism is that I personally think Shu Ning's / the author's character is a little too ruthless; every single person that wronged him literally meets a fate worse than death. It's honestly sad, especially those high school classmates (Wang Cong and that Tian guy). Yes they... more>> were bad people, but damn that's a cruel end. A girl tries to flirt with the ML and her career gets subverted. Idk, some might enjoy seeing them suffering, but I personally was uncomfortable with that level.

And speaking of the MC's ruthlessness, the worst was how he treated Shu Yao. Yes he was a devil in the past life, but he wasn't even born yet for the MC to discard him completely!! In that situation, I would have much rather seen Shu Ning personally help his upbringing and ensure he didn't become what he did in the past life. That's a child starving for love, spoiled to the point of destruction, but I'm a nurture > nature type of person so I don't think it was unavoidable!!

The other key criticism is that every single female character, other than the two aunties that looked after Shu Ning in the capital (who appear for like, 2 paragraphs the entire novel) is bad. Every single one, without exception. Actually maybe Xuan Er, but she only got one sentence. Like it's way too ridiculous; the author couldn't make a SINGLE good female character??? And their flaws are all the same; greedy, shameless, gold-digging.

Overall it was a pretty good story. Smaller criticisms include the ML fell for MC a little early I think, it went like "what a cute little child" to "I want to do him hurry and grow" pretty much immediately. I do appreciate his care of MC though, being "patient" (can you call that patient?? Lmao I loved those flirty scenes though hehehe)

Translation was okay, certainly understandable and no big grammar mistakes other than crazy long sentences. Like I think maybe the translator's keyboard is broken so half the time they try to use a period it comes out a comma. I got used to it pretty quickly though. <<less

Honestly this is actually good I love the ending and everything about it.

But I can't help and notice few who disliked and stopped reading this because honestly compared to other revenge stuff BL Novels this is some what at ease and not that gore, plus it got a good if not well written ending.

Sure the MC is hell bent on revenge but he's a human who suffered greatly in the past and he obtained revenge by simply making them suffer the same way he did in his last life.

He was... more>> humiliated, used, betrayed, abandoned and were even killed. (possibly even r*ped)

In order for you to understand the story and like it you have to keep on mind why did the MC does the things he does because its not at all unreasonable.

Right at the start MC confirmed how things could go the same thing in the past so he was hell bent on living his life that he knows he should've have in the past had in not for those people who used him.

Countless times in the story proves that certain events that have happened in the past may have occured differently but still occured inevitably. (Shu Gao's and Shu Cheng's death)

People find it a hard time to relate with MC who have deep grudge and hatred to what happened to him in the past, thus don't realize that honestly MC is just trying to make a world where he wouldn't die because if he didn't, he would and he knows that right at the start.

After few chapters its clear that he cannot move on past those grudge because in reality, life its not that easy to remain alive in when everyone is against your happiness.

Although there is still some weak parts and its mainly on introduction of certain characters and even origin of what happened to MC are choppied and broken down.

Each origins and explanations are broken down in chapters by chapters hence the main reason why those who have stopped reading this, aren't able to relate!

IF you are going to READ THIS YOU HAVE TO KEEP GOING TILL THE END!!!

I love the bromance, the angst, the tension, the sweet moments, the comedic ones, and even joined along to hate enemies of MC along with him!

Its a worth read because if it was not then why do some other people still find this good?

Makes one curious right??

And as a reader you have to find out why that is so by reading this through the end, instead of stopping and giving half assed reviews when you don't even want to learn what happened in the end!

I don't know for everyone but I was immersed into it the more I read!!

I felt myself in the same position as the MC that I said to myself I would do the same thing to those who have hurted and still tries to hurt me if were given a chance!

Part way through the part where romance started to spice up were even great because the first half does left you hanging but then BOOM here are spices one after another and its so Yummy~~ I love them..

I wish this hadn't ended and even have sequel because I want more More MORE MORE of the story after revenge!!

Yesh this is a revenge story and it is well done well done, its not like those others where MC have protagonists halos and everything would be fine for them right away and they will have happy ending...

Instead this Novel makes the MC and characters work! Like work how you be evil work how you help someone and stuff.. Compared to other novels I haven't read a much relatable characters such as the characters in this novel.

In real world people will try to leech of you and do bad things for the sake of greed, money or fame! Even in love! So I'm very glad to have read this all the way through.. No regrets at all!!! <<less

Cried a bit on some parts, laughed, and so on. I can't express how much I love this story..! Plotwise, it's not that unique, you can tell where it's going but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. The characters are great, I especially love the whole family relationships with Gramps Shu Gao, Shu Cheng and the Heng Family. If anything, I wish there was more familial love chaptersㅡ or maybe some more scenes where Shu Ning spends time with his sincere and loyal friends ㅠㅠ ♡

Spoiler

I remember crying in public while reading the scene where Shu Gao died.. I got too attached to Gramps, unexpectedly! ㅠㅠ Even though it was only briefly mentioned, I still felt so sad when Shu Cheng died as well. I guess you really can't avoid fate. Shu Ning was really blessed to be able to rebirth, and get the happiness he deserves.

《It was pretty rough and depressing beginning but all's well that ends well! ♡》

Thank you so much to the translators as well!!! <<less

Miscl**ked the rating.

I was going to give a 2.

It started off strong.

... more>> The premise was interesting with Shu Ning's revenge but ended up liking the person he hated. It was being set-up for an exciting reveal of how glorious Shu Ning's secret achievements were.

But it ended very weak.

As other reviewers noted, once they got together. Everything was just so rushed and half-assed. A lot of emotional and surprising moments were glossed over. Shu Ning's mental age barely factors in and only whipped out when he makes a business call or does something cruel. Most of the time, he just acts like a rich teenage kid. The villains he swore revenge on were not even addressed properly. Muddles a long way from the initial set-up

Overall disappointed.

The translation was okay (thanks translator!) but the way the story ended was not worth going through all those chapters with flat characters personality and development and endless plotholes. P.S. I really hated that this story was so very sexist once you really read between the lines. And, it made me realize how a lot of danmei is sexist too. As a BL fan, this is a huge blow.
Spoiler

Despite all Shu Ning's success and capability to stand on his own and amaze the world with his power, he was still relegated with the task of maintaining the ancestral home and taking care of the children (not that it was ever described because of the lazy ending) merely because he is a bottom and should thusly be a good wife. He's also so easily bullied and scared by Shu Heng into anything that it's honestly kinda toxic. He's so scared of offending Shu Heng at his supposed age that it's not healthy???

This honestly lead me to a realization how a lot of danmei with a cool domineering ML and sweet MC is still so very sexist and internally homophobic that it imposes an idea that one should act like a man while the other a woman. This story did a double on me not only with the shitty ending but turning me off from this type of danmei.

I'm not asking for a clean and sanitized politically correct story. But is equality, balance, and mutual respect for each other's boundaries and achievements between BL couples that hard to ask?

Its soooooooo fluffy plus sweet aching tooth. Eventho the MC was like 13~14 yrs old, I kinda don't feel like it was a pe*ophile relationship as the mc's mind is old.. Hahaha. And ML also keep his feeling in check (eating tofu lightly is cuteee). So this novel was sooooooo recommend for fellow fujoshi and fudanshi.

I actually kinda liked this novel? I don't really know how to say this as this is a flawed novel and I don't disagree with the low rating, but for me I saw beyond just the written words. All the background we were given by the author, their personalities, and endings added more to this novel than maybe the author even intended. The fact is the people who read this could actually root for the villains, feel distaste for the MC's actions, and even give sympathy to those who were... more>> supposed to only be fodder for the main character's epic tale. I've read a lot of novels with villains that were horribly corrupt bereaved of any sympathy only used to make the MC look better. Some people caught on to this and would call it bad writing others knew what they were going to be reading beforehand and viewed it as foolish to complain or at least distasteful.

The point is I could imagine these characters as people and with what I was given from the author I began to flesh out these characters. Their stories and scars that didn't end with a happily ever after or a god given second chance. I could see them as more than irreconcilable villains that had no character. They weren't "good" people and they did bad things in another life and may have continued to do bad things in their new life as well, but don't a lot of people? They haven't really done anything, they had their own lives to live with their own problems and it wasn't like the MC wasn't at fault for his own fate. Is it really right to blame them for everything, yet what about all the anger and pain the past MC felt. Where would all of that go? Should we just expect him to forgive and forget?

With all of this in my head I couldn't help but think that this novel showed true revenge. Revenge isn't righteous or pious and villains aren't all bad. How many people can be so horrible in this world with not one single good quality, and now how many of those exact people can one person involve themselves with. Revenge in most cases can be said to be selfish, so no matter what good reason you have it doesn't really change much about what you did or do. A good reason doesn't make a wrong right. I think those flaws are shown in this novel I can imagine this novel being so much better if it was properly fleshed out and if the author had actually expanded on their characters.

This doesn't change the novels flaws as it is a bit sexist and has major moral dilemmas among other things but the flaws are actually what made me like it, so you can kinda get my hesitance. <<less
