So... Well I will first start this off explaining the rating. For me if any novel does not have a sense of danger or anything threatening at all (this changed a tad later, not enough) then that by itself carries my rating down. The interactions of this novel between characters is honestly funny. There is one called, Loretta and that has go to be the best part about this novel. Anyways the novel is about basically leveling up and progressing in a dungeon. The goal is to get stronger,... more>> and my interpretation so far is this is to help citizens of that current planet t0 combat a threat that is around them. However, in the MC case that threat is basically nonexistent. He still goes to school. Now I understand for the socializing and whatever. I just can't see how or why he should because he socializes well with people from the dungeon. He can form parties and raids! Furthermore, if the goal of attending university is to have a stable job for money... Then that is a laughable reason to go to attend. Some of the drops from the dungeons are worth MILLIONS of won. Yes the author explicitly writes their worth. I tend to skip chapters of him interacting with people outside the dungeon (besides his dad), because quite frankly it's simply boring.

Now when I just started this story. I believed his circumstances would begin to change (threat in his world) like it is for his companions from dungeons (maybe in the future there will be). There are certain "threats", but there are so weak in comparison to the characters with abilities that it's meaningless to call it a threat. In a world where it's modern setting, I love when a threat is large enough, that it shakes up the dynamics of that world. This novel which is still in it's infancy... lacks that.

With all that said. MC? Pretty funny (humor may differ) I enjoy his interactions with some characters. He isn't all brawn no brain further in. The side character (s) are... Good enough that their interactions with the MC do not take away from the story that much. In fact sometimes add more to it. I honestly feel I have to think of reasons to add to make you read it.. I rather you read 5 stars reviews for that or just anyone else who may love a LOT more about it than I.

To conclude I do not think this is a bad story it's pretty nice for passing time and the translator is honestly awesome! However, when a novel about dungeons and threats to their safety key point for me is his interactions with someone in the dungeon... Where fights happen. Farming like an MMO, constant grinding... I think it lacks something. That something is? Danger. Threat. Whatever you want to call it. I am sure in the later chapters it get's better. Especially on that end. Hopefully I update my review by then. Remember to look at how many chapters I am at. Because who knows it may had change 10 chapters from there. <<less

It has the same issue this author usually has that there's a strong start and then maybe 2/3 or 3/4 through everything falls apart. This time it was particularly bad because the ending is so incredibly rushed that it's hard to keep track of what was going on and no satisfaction to be had from the defeat of the villains because we just didn't care about them. Especially how the MC really hated one of them for basically no reason.

I read this a few years ago, reread this again not knowing I read this before as I didn't leave a review, prob cause I didn't have an acc yet, but I reread to chapter 132 and I gave up. The novel is good/okay at the start but the harem elements and MC down right ruined the story. Overtime there is too many major characters to manage, and additionally, the author starts to go too into depth on game element / fight scene fillers. I would've kept reading, but I... more>> remember it got even worse later on. If you read this, suggest dropping around c75. Sometimes there are author notes together with the chaps, and they are often irritating to read as it is what he puts, or promises/facts on the novel he makes which I know to be false, perhaps because he changed his mind. <<less

This had great potential. It was a funny tory about a op protagonist that has to overcome difficulty through great adversity but it ended up ditching the comedy aspect almost completely and ended up being the character is strong so he wins. In the beginning the character is strong but dumb he has flaws. But he ends up getting superhuman intelligence pretty much out of nowhere. It ends up being solo leveling where the main character has no challenges, mentality or physically, and a shitty haram with only one likable... more>> female lead. The author tries to pull out plot twist that are just badly written and the rest of the characters are just bland. The only non main character that's well written is the dad but he just gets sidelined so the main character can be cool. <<less

Started off with a good amount of potential, the novel gave a nice and somewhat nostalgic Supercut of the MC's childhood that clearly differed from his peers. The game-like structure introduction to the story was promising, though nothing special, it was easy to digest and understandable. With how the beginning of the story introduced its characters, it gave me the feeling that the author knows how to handle his/her characters, but getting further to the story, I totally got the opposite of what I thought, which also in my opinion,... more>> the biggest flaw of this novel.

The story does not have any interesting girl characters, may it be protagonist material or not. It also feels like giving them interesting plot and development would only betray the readers later on because they would just end up in the long list of harem characters that sorrounds the not so interesting MC at this point. For me, this is disrespectful to the readers, like it somewhat ridicule our sense of intellect.

Started promising just to end up like a parody of all it's counterparts. <<less

Solid Story. Good quality. Morally good characters (especially considering the end). Character is s*upid in the beginning (then raises int), is then dense (in romance), then comes to terms with his harem (and actually does stuff - just that everything more than kisses is only implied). In later chapters MC wins through plans (or at least has plans). No as*hole MC, no insults, no "face", no nationalism/racism, no tournament. MC is OP in many situations, challenged in others. Novel is complete (and resolves everything).

The beginning part of the novel was good but while it continued on, it still maintained to be interesting. Though I feel like this novel has the potential to expand more the ending was satisfactory.

Spoiler

One thing to note is that the author would said that the novel is not going to be a harem yet in the end of it all it became one. I don't really know if I should laugh or feel betrayed but never the less I enjoyed the journey.

[collapse]

This novel is based on role-playing video games you experienced playing with mostly comedy and a little bit dark as a novel but it weighs more on being an action-comedy.

I finished it and enjoyed reading it. Hopefully this novel would be your cup of tea just like me.

I'm not going to degrade the novel like the other reviewers did, but I would like to say that everyone has different taste and I would say I liked this one so I'm giving it a high score. There's no harm in trying to read it though so I recommend you guys to at least try to read it with an open mind. No pressure just enjoy reading. <<less

Although I might’ve binged this, overall it was a very satisfying novel to read. It has a slightly different sort of MC, so I’d say you’d either like it, or dislike it a lot. The ending was a bit unsatisfactory for me though.

Honestly? barely managed to get myself to finish chapter 3. needless to say I'm done with it and that I won't continue and torture myself with chapter 4 and onwards.

It is just bad. completely poorly written/s*upid/uninteresting and made me feel like it's just a joke.... I figure it's the authors first work and give it to that... it's just that I heard so much about the author and his 2nd work "EEIAR" that I thought ill start with his first work... well, that's how far that got me.

Binge read it in a couple of days and I have to say I loved it. I would rate it the same as Tate no Yuusha (shield bro) as the story flow and world building is very similar. Honestly, there are plenty of annoying plot points and expositions (the constant grinding and backstabbing is kinda annoying) but it was a very fun and satisfying read as there's plenty of action and humor.

The translation is very good too (except for that one weird chapter...)

Oh, and that potato nuke. Damn it... more>> lol. <<less

I don't have much to say that has not already been said. This novel has an uninspired plot comprised of repetitive tropes and bogged down by the harem and uni-dimensional side characters.

That said, it does a decent job of fulfilling the tropes that are to be expected with this genre. In particular, I disagree with a comment by toyyoda:

"Recycled plot of 'an enemy pops up which puts all of Earth/another world in danger, but our MC is just strong enough to beat it, hence he gets amazing abilities and rewards... more>> which coincidentally synergise with his existing abilities and will counter the next enemy that comes along'. Battles are nothing beyond a display of MC's abilities and showing how he's stronger than these Goliath-like creatures."

This is by and large what should be expected from the genre. DBZ among many many other fictions face this same issue; some handle it better than others but in the end it is somewhat unavoidable. The fictions that surpass this, or rather achieve a suspension of disbelief from the reader that surmounts this, is hard to find outside of published works. I would even argue that any "power system" that provides quantifiable tiers of power will struggle to convince the reader to care.

What ICDS does particularly well (at least in the first and last 50 chapters) is the fight scenes. The movement and action are easily visualized and have weight. Sadly the middle does suffer a bit from the issue of "special moves" cluttering up the combat. Overall this factor was what made ICDS stand out for me. <<less

And another novel finished! I loved this novel from the very beginning. After reading another work of this author, the "Everyone Else is a Returnee" (which I strongly recommend) I came I love everything this author writes. I really like how the protagonist is awesome both in power and personality and how all the other characters as well are awesome. The comedy is great as well and I can never get enough tsukkomi, it really livens the conversations, doesn't it?

Anyway, long story short I really recommend this novel, 5 stars... more>> from me. <<less

It's good. Far from perfect as Toika made several of overdoing and underdoing in this like the Harem and the world building. If your story revolves around world travels and game elements, I believe it is not advisable to make it a 1st Person POV as it limits the perspective of the story to a single person.

Thankfully, Toika learned from that mistake and did a better job on the novel that succeeded this one which Everyone Else Is A Returnee.

Good dungeon story, enjoyable and well-written fight scenes. -1 star for another really boring harem, filled with tons of nonsense (It's a realllllly boring harem in general, only reason its not -2 is some decent comedy, but most of it is bad.).

I like the fact that it combines some of the typical JP novels clichés with KR novels. The chemistry is great, I like the fact there are tsunderes and the MC got a harem while he isnt some kind of adult in a 12yo body with a bunch of lolis following him around. The story is interesting and refreshing.

Would recommend 1000 times if necessary

I don't review ln/wn as much but this one is a gem so I had to share my thoughts/opinion.

I normal get bored with story which focuses too much on dungeon but this one is written so well, the balance between how much time characters get->the world building->skills->grinding->comedy->explaining bits of information is just perfect as it can get for me. Without spoiling anything, I would recommend it to anyone who likes leveling type (even though you will feel it isn't all about leveling and grinding), plus our MC isn't perfect since... more>> he is only a human. Give it a try and just after first 10 chapters you will be hooked! <<less

This one is one of the best dungeon grinder series. The series emphasizes comedy. The downside is, the enemy becomes less threatening as the MC become more OP. But the story is still interesting because how MC plays the role as the hidden hero.

Ok honestly I was on the fence at first but most doubts I had about the quality of the story have been resolved. It's fun and easy to read. The characters are colorful and actually have understandable personalities with individual thought processes. The levels of the dungeon allow for a gradual progression of the story, and dramatic foreshadowing hints at interesting things to come.

Albeit the characters' individual personalities can be weird at times, but thats true in reality as well. (E.g. The Mc's eerily strong love with his sister).

I hope... more>> it keeps getting better and that there's lots more to read. <<less
