She had a dream: the world was brimming with light. Family. School. Friends. Trains. Buses. Movies. Books. In that world of light, she grew into adulthood… and at the very end, in a white room, she fell into darkness. She awoke from the dream to find that she had become a demon. In the demon world, she lived a carefree life until she encountered a powerful being.

After such a long time spent living as a demon, before she knew it, spreading in her heart was a yearning for that world of light. She plunged herself into a summoning magic circle that had appeared. Then… when she opened her eyes once again, she had become a human baby.

She was in the Holy Kingdom. She felt fearful: while she was indeed a demon, she only had the strength of a baby. Her being a demon, if discovered, would be terrible. Was she a human or a demon? Would she be able to survive from here on out?

Im actually confuse with this one. I kinda see that the story is interesting and so on but the writing style was never to my liking. Idk if it's with the TL or with the actual writing style. It's chaotic, most narrative are one liner and they are hard to understand sometimes. I don't know how to connect the next sentence because I think they are lacking in context.

I could have love this but it consistently made me confuse of what is really happening. If it could have been more... more>> generous on its narrative then it could been a good book for me. I know we have different styles in writing but we should prioritize comprehension when we write. <<less

Read up to around Volume 9.

Overall I give this 3 stars, I like strong female protagonists and the author's other story Apotheosis of a Demon is pretty good, but this one is lacking in many ways.

My biggest problem with this however is the main character, the writer is trying to do too many things with her and is falling flat with all of them because they're unwilling to commit to making her anything in specific.
On one hand she's an all power amazing demon, but then because she needs to... more>> be "cute" she's getting man handled by 8 y/o boys who are pulling her around despite her not enjoying it.
On one hand she's a psychopathic demon who enjoys mu*dering people and eating their souls, but any time a "main" character makes a contract with her or any of her squad they conveniently end up un-eaten and become a powerful member of her team.
On one hand she's written as an intelligent scheming demon constantly out for herself and is providing people things to torture them further down the line, but then they try to say due to magical misunderstandings everything she does is actually saving and helping people.
And so on...

The other problem is that she just solves everything with overwhelming firepower. That's fine, I don't read isekai expecting in depth tension ridden battles, but these solutions are done after multiple volumes of build up. Its one thing if your protagonist solves something with their OP powers when its done within a few chapters, its another when there's 4 volumes of building up this world and situation, and then she just turns on the cheats and instantly solves everything before moving on. It makes it all feel like an exceptional waste of time. <<less

it's something good. but keep going on and on until it become literally garbage.

first few arcs that set in 'home world' are best arcs

Spoiler

story about demon who has memory of past life as a human. she got summoned into fantasy world and somehow got into body of newborn princess without anyone knowing. with her weak body and inability to cast magic, will her family found out?

you got to see she who has no commonsense as a demon. learn and live with her instinctive desires. see her protect what she thinks are importants

fluffy yet serious. in a unique yet familiar fantasy world (my opinion as isekai lover anyway)

[collapse]

it all spiral down from there

because it want to be satire novel without putting in efforts

Spoiler

it's basically setup like this. you can called it serial isekai.

1. she got summon to that world

2. that world has generic troupe like fantasy, otome or scifi

3. something inhabitants do is bad in perspective of "the world"

4. demons are like white blood cells to multiverse

5. she laze around, tangled directly with bs of that world. kill of of humans.

6. humanity of that world kinda ruined. but balance got restored. she move on

7. repeat

[collapse]

this setup make it easy to build new stage. go as wild as author want without consequences, so lazy and easy. yet author can still shitted it.

Spoiler

author want to connect story between world to make it more interconnect. same characters appear in many world. but setup that author want is mostly chronologically impossible.

time travel it is.....

and freeze time of a whole world, waiting for one person.... why?

no mastermind, no intelligence lifeform, no good consistent explanation. it just is.

[collapse]

not to mention that story also like to contradict with itself. the protagonist's iq also got dropped.
Spoiler

she always got lucky. in right place and time. rambling lore when context is needed.. only thing she is good at is massacre everybody with pure fire power.

The very first chapter was interesting but then it started going downhill from there. My expectations plummeting. Fight scenes are mediocre, the MC doesn't have a concrete goal in mind so I don't even know what she wants to do. Oh wait she does have a mediocre goal, she doesn't want to be found out as a demon...

That tiny bit of romance where I'm waiting for her to reunite with the dark beast is keeping me from dropping it.

Story is verrryyyy slow paced, it take 40 chapters before they even... more>> meet again, and when they do I'm like did you really have to hype it up this much to give me this battle interaction!? Like man... I waited so long and this is how their long awaited interaction go...

Mediocre action scenes + Slow ass romance + tr*sh internal dialogue = My expectations crushed.

Some of the internal dialogues going aren't even needed. The misunderstandings are funny until it becomes repetitive. Like yes, I get that you worship her as your goddess I don't need your internal dialogue to tell me that 10, 000 times.

I don't even need your internal dialogue where the MC questions why she has no friends or why everyone is scared of her, like chill, no need to tell me every second line.

So many chapters in and I don't even see a semblance of actual plot that goes anywhere, no nothing?

Useless events that happen in the story that don't contribute to anything?

The MC is a dull character nothing interesting about her, a generic isekai MC who doesn't want to be found out as a demon. I mean really? That's it? Her character is so one dimensional.

Character interactions are so simple that I even wonder why some of the side characters exist. We see the POV, but nothing about their lives. The girl knights don't do anything but fawn over the MC.

- Classic scene of cute MC daughter sitting on daddy's lap and reveled cute by everyone. We see this multiple times until she grows up.

- Classic scene of noble ladies sitting garden and drinking tea talking about useless things that go nowhere.

Spoiler

And then the 4th volume, that quick scene when the dark beast and the MC reunite and cuddle for one ch. A few interactions with the dark beast and then for the love of god! She teleports to another world in order to get stronger to escape the dimension she has been trapped in. They separate again. Where is this fluff everyone is talking about!? I literally can not see it? Am I blind!?

[collapse]

YES! there are cute moments where she gets loved by everyone around her but they repeat so much it becomes bland. Like hello? Change it up?

Spoiler

But at least the ship has sailed I guess, she realises that she wants to be with the dark beast forever but she dips and goes to another world?

4 volumes of world building from when she's an infant to a 10 yr old and then we see her transport to another world to see that same thing happen in vol. 5...

Overall really nice WN, probably one of the best out there, fleshed out and interesting MC, the translator also did a really great job at it.

the problems with this WN for me are:

    1. the side character are just fodder character, theres almost no character building, most of them are just dull even if they have somesort of personality, its your typical *insert what that guy/girl looks like here*
    1. magic ?, honestly with the world full of magic, theres almost no explanation about the magic mechanic work, even if it... more>> explain, its only mostly holy magic which the MC use, and other than the MC, almost none of the character seemingly use any magic, which is weird
    1. i love the novel until vol 4, after that for some reason the author feels like the need to "reboot" the story, make the MC "reincarnate" again to other world, I honestly don't see the point and ruined the tension/premise of the last act
but overall really nice WN, I kind of stop reading at vol 4, since the point 3 that I said a bit a turn off for me, but i'll continue reading in my free time if I don't have anything more interesting to read. <<less

One of the best Japanese WN's out there. It is both cliche and yet genre defying as it combines a certain sweet fluffyness common to "shojou" with the brutality of "seinen" with shifts between and even merging of these contrary elements.

The MC is especially what is interesting as she has two very clearly defined yet inseparable sides to her being her demonic side which could be argued to benefit from the suffering from others and her loving side that indulges and seemingly loved by all.

1. The novel is an original story of a super OP MC who is a demoness and hailed as a holy saint/princess.

2. There are loyal subordinates/friends/love interests of the MC and the interactions between them are sometimes funny, sometimes heartwarming, sometimes fluffy, and sometimes serious. The relationship between the MC and each character is solid and flow smoothly. There are real conversations and not just vague/general internal monologues.

3. I live for those mofu mofu moments between the MC and ML (the demon at the beginning I think is the ML).... more>> It is so sweet and adorable when they cuddle! I really want to cuddle with a large fluffy animal too!

4. It doesn't have too much Japanese wording in the translations like yosh, un, fumu, kya, uwa, gusun, oi, etc. Reading too many of these types of Japanese phrases/reactions personally annoy me, so I'm thankful that in this story, not too many of these Japanese wording appear. -Whew-

The only issue I have with the novel though is that some of the scenarios are a bit vague, so you got to use your own imagination to fill in some of the plot holes. The MC's thick headedness at times can be a turn-off, but it's not so bad that I would drop the novel. Overall, it's an interesting read that is different from other Japanese novels that involve transmigrating/gaming element/kingdom-building/etc. I recommend giving the first volume of the novel a try before deciding to continue or not. <<less

This is one of the best-written webnovels I’ve had the pleasure to read. It’s the kind of thing you can recommend to almost anyone that appreciates the format because it doesn’t easily veer into established tropes: rather than pandering to plot devices or developments that are popular (and criminally overused) in Japanese fiction, it has a style of its own in how people think and act.

This is a comedy, but it is a dark comedy that ranges in tone from light and fluffy to more serious and brutal at the... more>> drop of a hat. This goes hand-in-hand with a protagonist that is described as careless (I’d say absent-minded) in her personal relationships but also sharp and insightful when it comes to matters of politics or conflict. The broad range and shifts in tone also reflect her dual nature as a human-with-the-nature-of-a-demon (or vice versa) : a contradictory existence that has the values of humanity but the aesthetic senses and impulses of a demon. This is a little girl that has the values of humanity but can only appreciate food and people (more to the point: people as food) as a demon would.

The perspective she has as an outsider to (and predator of) humanity is one that’s pretty rich in insight about people, what they want, and how they behave. The webnovel cycles through many different supporting characters, villains and locations, and while the amount of time the author spends on each is a little limited, they put a lot of care into developing each of those with individual desires, values and goals. It manages this large cast surprisingly well, and I especially appreciate the effort put into fleshing out the antagonists: they don’t always last for very long, because the main character always can (and usually does, in the end) solve conflicts via clever and liberal applications of violence, but they always have reasons for what they do and act logically.

Part of the reason that this webnovel was so enjoyable is due to the excellent translation of the first 8 volumes by App: the prose flows naturally in English, which is a remarkable achievement considering how concise and ambiguous Japanese-language fiction often is. <<less

Quickly becoming a new favourite, I accidentally stayed up until the sun came out because I was so engrossed in this story. It has a great balance of light and dark. The characters actions are understandable and don't seem forced, and the story doesn't suffer from the "s*upid people who act with less than zero common sense for the sake of giving MC someone to beat" trope.

My only complaint is that it seems to have been dropped by the last group over a year ago right at what seems to... more>> be the start of a new arc, so if there's any translators out there who are considering continuing this series I seriously recommend it and I would be incredibly grateful. <<less

Spoiler

She gets reincarnated as a demon. However she is not just any demon but a devil. There are many kinds of demons starting at lesser demons then it goes up to greater, arch demon, then demon lord, demon beast, then devil. The devil is essentially a demon that has memories as a human so they know how to blend into human society. She can live amongst them without the humans even knowing and that's exactly what she does. She is seriously OP and I know some of you might not be into that but the description of the fights is sometimes gruesome.

Anyway, I give this novel a 5/5 and it seriously does deserve it. <<less

Well. The novel starts pretty well. We get to know the characters, empathize white them, but every thing went down hill in the first chapter.

So our HUMAN demon is very cute and definitely is good. But them she becomes cruel, from nothing you don't see it coming, and the story becomes worse, because things start to happen and you have no idea how the already very well written characters chance to 0 to 100. You don't get a character development, the author just throw the change in your eyes.

The novel... more>> is good in the 3 first volumes, but after that it is just not appealing anymore. <<less

Not a particularly bad story, but dull enough to warrant a lower score than some deem appropriate. The main character's abilities are shallow and uninteresting, with no discernible limits or requirements, which makes any usage thereof unpredictable and lackluster in execution.

As far as I have read there appears to be no tension or motivation, and as such the main character is entirely reactive and without any goal to speak of. The side characters are inconsequential, the world building is uninteresting, the premise is irrelevant to the story, the magic is... more>> forgettable, and the MC is boring. The entire novel is mediocre and stale. I give it a generous three stars for it having taken me three volumes to realise that I have better books to read. <<less

At first I thought this was a laid back story full of fluffiness where everyone adores the protagonist, and intended to drop it after one volume. That is, until we see the protagonist's devil side. After sticking with this series for longer my impression is the gore is completely out of place. Take any dull fluffy series and insert a random gore scene here or there, and you get this series.

The idea of a protagonist who is an adored saint princess by day and a harvester of souls by night... more>> is really neat. But good ideas only shine when polished by good execution. Otherwise it's just a dull, poorly written story with a twist that looks good on paper.

I will say though the imagery in the beginning is quite elegant. I had high expectations just based on that. <<less

Good read, though a bit chaotic.

The story relies a lot on one-off interludes in a sense, where characters are introduced then quickly become irrelevant, but the focus isn't on side characters either way so it makes sense. I personally like this kind of writing style (which the author has consistently across their works) but some people may not like it and want a less convoluted plot. There's a lot of confusing timeline stuff happening, a lot of concepts get suddenly introduced (time travel paradoxes, aliens trying to take over the... more>> MC's home planet - which is relevant for just about two chapters, skill systems, travel to different worlds, you name it) that make you feel like the plot isn't even roughly planned out, which reads like the author wrote it on the fly from beginning to end.

Still though, it's entertaining and fluffy, while the MC is very morally grey <<less

First impressions.

This novel is about fluff and heart warming with a dash of silly misunderstanding due the MC being a bit dense.

Two-three chapter later. Yeah. About that... Fluff and cutesy stuff? It's there still. But there is so much darkness. It's like this novel is bi-polar... One moment it's all joy and happiness, the next... Children being torn to pieces by dogs.

So yeah. A word of warning to future readers. This novel SEEMS like the general happy go lucky Isekai MC experience, but it's not...

Generous rating for the story as a whole. Would've definitely rated the beginning of the story (volume 1) at 5 star, a pity that at volume 6 and above I felt like the author was wasting the potential that this story had as it slowly regressed to your generic Japanese-Isekai story.

There were a few missing things that had it been explained, it would've been made the story so much better. Be that as it may, it's still worth a leisure-read for me as it should be for you (I think).

When I first decided to read it, it was just to pass some time because I had nothing else to do. I just thought it'd be your usual, cliché isekai and boy was I wrong. The author uses their great writing to implement clichés in a humorous way and makes fun of them, while also progressing with a unique and unrepetitive plot. The MC, Yurushia, is also an incredible, realistic character and unlike other FLs; the same applies to every single character, such as her attendants.

DO NOT read this if... more>> you are looking for:
A powerless female lead who has to be saved everytime
Romance in every chapter
A light, fluffy story with not plot
An idealist
No death, slight horror and gore

DO read this if you're looking for:

A romantic subplot that stays as subplot
An intricate plot that will confuse the f*ck out of you
An MC who doesn't think she can save the entire world
Scenes that are nothing short of massacres <<less

A Great novel that features a very unique villainess; it sometimes gives off an Overlord vibe. (OP servants, disregard for human lives and such) Explanation of the MC will be later down below. One huge remark about it is that there is a lot of fluffiness and cuteness that would almost give me diabetes. It is so sweet that for so many times I feel like squirming in my chair and screaming OMG I NEED TO SEE THE ILLUSTRATION RIGHT NOW!!! But that's just part of the reasons why we have a fascinating MC here.

A huge fun of reading this novel is to witness how the MC view others around her. As I will explain later, she is not a human at all, and therefore her perception of her surroundings and those around her are very refreshing (or should I say astonishingly alien and inhuman?)

Here is a bit of explanation of the nature of MC. You will have a glimpse of it in the very first chapter; however, her full nature is still a bit mysterious until the very end of the first volume. I will not spoil the plot down below, but you may loose the element of surprise that I at least enjoyed when reading certain chapters.
Spoiler

MC is not a human being transmigrated to another world from earth. Rather, you can think of her as a local: a demon that simply inherits some (or most) memories from her previous human live. You can say she is not the same person (or being) in terms of everything. As a result, DO NOT expect her to share human ethics or codes of conduct like most other isekai MCs do.

[collapse]

It could be all fluffiness in one chapter; and then gore right in next. This 180 degree of change in tone, in my opinion, is another great remark for this novel.

It's a laidback story of an OP Demon who isn't self-aware of how truly OP she is, just doing her own thing, because she want to do it, and the people she run into.

If you just want something on the lighter side of tone but still makes you want to make that evil smile, this might be up your alley.

Just do note that the MTL make mistakes ranging from screwing up names (minor) to completely mistranslating a line or even a whole paragraph, and they're hubris/lazy/oblivious enough that they won't... more>> fix anything even if pointed out, sometimes even making up excuses to cover it up.

Basically they've become my go to example when I need to explain why I consider full MTL as tr*sh.

To give one example:

Spoiler

MC: "I'm too full to eat your soul. You've got really good luck"
Guy: ".... Luck?" (more literal translation is, 'luck, you say?'

MTL: MC: "~~~ Consider yourself lucky"

Guy "......... yes"

The tone changed from a demon nonchalantly explain that the only reason this guy is alive is because she's full, and him being incredulous at her reason, to about a demon showing mercy and a guy meekly accepting it.

(which then contrast with his later attitude of defiance)
