Chen Youzai was born ugly. He was always looked down upon and despised by his classmates and other people around him. It would have been better if he was pragmatic and virtuous but he happens to be the shameless, showoff type.

One day, he unexpectedly helps an old uncle who was drowning in a lake. It turns out this uncle was a deity. The uncle rewards him with a silver coin that will give him the ability to change bodies with anyone.

He was hesitant to use the silver coin at first; but after being rejected by his crush, heart broken, he chanted the spell and wished from the silver coin to become the most handsome man in the world.

He did wish for a big transformation, but how did he end up getting caught up in a situation he didn’t ask for?

After about 90 chapters, I can safely say that I don't like the uke and there's a high chance that I'm not going to like him. To help people visualize my feelings on the uke, imagine one of those novels where the main character is a mob side character that reincarnated after being killed by the seme because the uke did something s*upid and caused the deaths of a bunch of people. And turn the story's POV from the unfortunate mob to the s*upid uke. And make the story become... more>> the first round of life where the mob character still doesn't know they're going to die. And you have the basis of this story. Essentially, we have a hypocritical and naive "Mary Sue-ish" uke who loves to cause trouble for the seme and the seme, for some magical reason, still loves this bundle of unnecessary trouble enough to solve all the problems and forgive him (minus some spanking).

Color me, unimpressed.

Spoiler

Honestly, the story would have been a lot better if they had focused on the original owner of the uke body. The uke does nothing but causes trouble and thinks with the mentality of a little kid. The author probably intended for the seme to fall in love with the uke's innocence but she could have totally achieved the same purpose by giving the original owner amnesia. The whole coin and "changing body" thing doesn't even play a role because the uke loses the coin at the very beginning. So far, he keeps on saying that he's going to look for it but the amount of effort I see him doing is an all-time zero.
The only worthwhile character seems to be the seme who's stuck cleaning up after the uke while going through the whole inner conflict about falling in love with his enemy and "brother".

I'll probably stick around for another volume and see how this novel turns out but, so far, it's feeling like a trainwreck. <<less

I don't know why some people don't like the story but I find this story really good. Chai Ji Dan is the type of novelist who starts at a slow pace and normally would show development in the story in chapter 50+. I know this because I read other novels by her, most especially the not so famous ones. Her writing style as a BL novelist is really good. Her sentence construction and plot development is really well-planned and I this is probably the reason why majority of her books... more>> were turned into a movie or series. The ending was satisfactory for me and was really happy. I will most certainly treasure this novel as one of my favorite Chai Ji Dan stories. I hope she considers turning this into a movie or series too.
Spoiler

for those who are itching with spoilers, the main character will marry the prince, not because he was forced but because he loves the prince. A guaranteed happy ending ?

I love how every review review on this sight Is saying they don't like the Main Character and they wont like him.

HA read the title.

To set the confusion strait the novel is a sloooow burn for our MC and his transformation is mind and body.

Chen Youzai is ugly. He is ugly in his appearance he is ugly in his actions. He is s*upid in his thinking, He is childish in his actions. But he is beautiful in one way. His soul. His soul is So beautiful that everyone who sees... more>> its is entranced. It just so happens that when he is transferred over he transfers over into a body that matches his souls beauty. Which means it is unmatched.

And when things are that beautiful, people get crazy to possess it for themselves. Which is where our prince comes in our prince is absolutely mad for our lad and the lengths that he goes to possess him are impressive.

One thing this novels fails to mention is the plot is largely surrounded by a mu*der mystery. And any plot holes that you see are usually filled in later in the saga as the mystery gets revealed.

I actually thoroughly enjoyed this novel when I wasn't expecting too. Its definitely gets much better as the novels progress and our MC transforms, while still holding true to the lovely trope of MC is just too beautiful and everyone wants a beauty. <<less

I give this story 4 stars as my actual rating, but put 5 stars on NU to counter some of the 1-star ratings.

Ultimately this story is about two very damaged souls finding solace in each other, but because they are so unused to normal human interactions/relationships - many misunderstandings ensue. The story is actually pretty original and was interesting to read, definitely kept my attention the whole way through (even with confusing MTL).

MC is so beaten down and bullied in his real life resulting in a severely stunted emotional maturity.... more>> This causes his personality to be naive and child-like/childish. He suffers from deep insecurities and feelings of worthlessness. He definitely fits the silly-s*upid-shou archetype, but he has his moments of brilliance too. He grows a lot throughout the novel and even though he maintains his whimsical personality and sense of humor, he learns compassion, hard-work, and becomes more sensible as the story progresses. He has his own concept of honor and 'manliness' that he sticks to and, to his credit, he holds to his convictions.

The ML is realllllllyyyy twisted. Like psychopath-level twisted. But he has his reasons as well, he is a product of his environment. He is also a very damaged person who has never learned what love and human warmth can be. Like MC, he also grows in maturity as the story progresses. The MC and ML experience many misunderstandings, which might seem repetitive (LIKE WHY CAN'T YOU JUST COMMUNICATE?), but you see that the ML's twisted response becomes more moderated each time and start learning from his mistakes. The MC's light contrasts and deflects the ML's darkness. As long as the MC is by his side, he can find meaning in the world.
Spoiler

I'm not sure if I can say the ML becomes fully 'good' by the end of the story, but there is a happy ending.

one of the most irritating MCs I've ever encountered.

i stuck with this up to c46 because I really like at least three of Chai Ji Dan's other works but I do not like this MC and the more I read, the less I like him. I don't find him cute or innocent or child-like and if I were the Third Prince I would have tossed him back in the prison ages ago. He needs a constant keeper because he seems to be hyper, incredibly s*upid, and accident prone all at... more>> once and without one he's likely to kill himself by tripping over his own feet and somehow take out the entire palace in the process. He's the kind of character that gets innocent people killed and then just shrugs it off as no big deal with an 'it's not my fault' attitude. As far as personality goes, I see no redeeming qualities. The second star is only there because I like the author.

even if your a big fan of Chai Ji Dan I'd recommend skipping this one lest you wear your teeth down to nubs grinding them in frustration at this MC. <<less

Whatever others say, I love the plot... atleast its fun than other BL stories that bored me to death.

I love the ruthlessness of the third prince, especially all the bloody deaths and skin crawling events. And the naivety of the MC were a lot of fun - the fact that he causes many peoples death is so untrue... its the ML's possessive nature, and didnt he admit his mistakes anyway? And he tried to help the second princes little bun °^°

I hope the translator will provide me the novels raw... more>> link, please please please <<less

It seems like an interesting story. I stopped reading at Chapt 27 due to the poor story line. I don't know if it's the translation, but there are several plot holes. This leaves more questions than answers. The transitions are rough, to say the least, this is one of the biggest problems I had when reading this. I had to wonder how the MC got from one place to the next, or what happened to such and such item. It was maddening.

I was reading it on wattpad and had to... more>> ask for so many explications, that I fear I was making a nuisance of myself. I appreciate the people who have taken this translation in hand :) , (I'm only fluent in one language) but I found it quite difficult to navigate.

I see some reviews advising not to read it, but I won't say don't read it. From reading through many of the comments I gather there are many who seemed to understand what's going on and enjoy it, so you never know. Just don't expect much if you happen to be an avid reader and like well thought out story lines.

This book not worth reading. The story is a slice of life about kid living with the 3rd prince. I thought the kid will tell his secret; like this is not my body. He never try to find his missing sliver coin. How can he... it at the prison place

The MC was so freaking annoying. It was not cute at all the way he acted. He acted so out of place and just did and said whatever he wanted to a whole and prince and somehow just doesn't get punished for it???? It makes no sense. I skimmed through the rest of the chapters to see if he at least got better, but he didn't improve at all. I also didn't like where he said that he was jealous of the original body's owner because he was so handsome... more>> and had a good family and stuff even though he knows that the original body's owner was a prisoner from the get go from supposedly "killing" his father and he still has the nerve to say something like that. This poor boy had his father killed and was framed and he had the audacity to say that he had everything. I really hate him. Don't waste your time reading this mess. <<less

Just like the author's other novels, this one is also a slow burn, in story and romance.

Many people found the MC really annoying, well that's true, however it makes me feel really satisfied seeing him changing bit by bit to be a better person. Don't expect him to miraculously seeing him changing in chapter 50 or 60.

Spoiler

The scene with his mother in later part really showing how he changed a lot. Here he came back to modern era and became a sensible and caring son.

This might not everyone cup of tea, however if you like Chai Jidan's other work, then you might like this one. <<less
