Ohh another heart breaker by JLFX.

Beautifully written and a very bittersweet novel. I definitely cried in the last chapter.

Basically, a prince from an old thwarted dynasty is our ML. He had been imprisoned under a hole for over a decade. In this time he's never had anyone to speak to or had any companionship. But because he was imprisoned at such a young age, he is very immature. His mental development and personality had been arrested since he was thrown in prison at the age of 6.

I expected to cry a little because the reviews proclaimed its sadness and I'm a crybaby but..... it was just kind of okay. Their relationship was purely based on coincidence and there was literally no reason for them to like each other besides that coincidence. I didn't root for either of them because I literally have no concept of their backstory or their true personalities... the female lead was conditioned to be an assassin and at the end is where we see that she might be confused by her true... more>> feelings. The male lead was stunted due to being trapped underground for years so he's basically a child.

For me personally, I really dislike useless characters. The male lead was the most useless I've read in a while. He literally has no common sense (which I know some people might like) but for me it's annoying that I finally get a FL who is stronger than the ML but he is absolutely mediocre. If the story was fleshed out I might discover he's actually not a gigantic burden but sadly that's not the case. He seems kind and self sacrificing but in reality he's incredibly selfish for knowingly burdening the FL like that. I mean I don't hate either of the characters, they're just not well written. Read it if you're looking for an easy time passing novel that you don't have to think about at the end. It's not particularly sad unless you consider cliche endings sad, but it's not terrible. <<less

After reading this a 2nd time, I think the story would have been more complete with an epilogue of the ML showing his growth from person with a child's mind to an emperor and the lasting effects of what the FL had on him, if any.

As expected from a short story from Jiu Lu Fei Xiang- but I swear my eyes... it's once again shameful because this isn't the first time I'm reading this... T-T

This is a bitter tragedy. But it ends off excellently as in it just felt right that it ended it off just like... ahem- that. I give this a 4/5 for angst or maybe a rating close to five though for the overall it's obviously a five for the novel. I feel bad for the two characters here though the ending... more>> was right and all- they still deserved their happy ends. Oh well, it's just to say that similarly in life- not everyone is so fortunate or able to attain their happy ends. Well, happy reading! <<less

Short read. Quiet god despite SE. It was inevitable, the prince experienced this for him to become a better Emperor in the future. The woman sadly will only become a great and sad memory for him.

As expected from Jiu Lu Fei Xiang, her short story is beautifully written, yet it evokes a lot of emotion.

It's heartbreaking from the beginning, bawling my eyes out rn. It's a short story but I had to really control myself from checking the reviews to see whether it is a HE or not..
