I've just finished this novel.
Spoiler

This novel is very similar to another "modern setting" novel by the same author. In fact, a lot of the plot were borrowed, but less polished.

After "tricking" his users into liking this novel and get it on the shelves (where the author would be paid) the author changed the theme.

The MC will go to other plaines and the story will be changed into your average cultivation harem story. IE: there will be a lot of recycled plots in this order:

MC finds the entrance to another area/plain. Leaves everything behind and goes there. Finds himself extremely weak compared to the others in that area.
Strong opponent appears who is interested in MC's treasures and/or girls.
MC escapes is constantly in hiding and escaping.
He finds some treasures (usually in some auction) and resources, trains, levels up.
Immediately there will be some anonymous opponents which will be offed by MC.
MC defeats all his previous opponents. Opens up a store/city/clan and becomes the strongest.
*repeat.

A lot of text will be wasted on introducing new fantasy material and equipment.

Whereas the first few 100 chapters in modern setting there were some female leads who had some character (albleit annoyingly), they will be reduced to a few mentions. Newer female characters are introduced, but have flat personalities but will eventually be just another addition to the harem never to be evolved anymore.
There will be a lot of buildup, where new characters are on an adventure with the MC, but the author will soon abandon their roles in the story.

The author tries to fill up gaps by having the MC going back to the lower plains but the explanation rarely is satisfying and rather forced. Thumbsup for the attempts though.

The final third of the novel has some annoying time skips, where the MC will be injured/training/meditating/captive/on the run/creating stuff for decades and even centuries. I think the record is 1000 years, where he gets freed from an injury. The rest of the world just happens to remain the same for 1000 years. Nothing happens. All this enemies will just wait for 1000 years before they get into fight with MC's friends in order for the MC to come and save the day.

It becomes ridicilous when in the end he visits the lower plains where the author remention forgotten characters and attempts to explain the MC's past (and implicitly explains the novel's title). With al the timeskips, MC would have left earth for thousands of years. But when he goes back to earth, he'd still be able to go back to his own city...

The ending is rushed as the author apparently had some problems with the publisher.

Conclusion: nice try, try again harder next time.

Well, dear users of NU, please place this novel alongside IRAS (I'm really a superstar). Once again, we have the usual dose of racism, the usual dose of unending "coincidences" where our protagonist stumbles upon some beauty, the usual dose of I'll teach you a lesson and the usual dose of impotency (oh, wait, the protagonist of IRAS is just too ret*rded to use it).

This story is, leaving racism, tons of women and freaking coincidences, quite alright. Which, after erasing all of these, is actually only left with one... more>> or two chapters worth reading among the sea of blatant excuses to make some kind of plot. The protagonist, which is reincarnated from a cultivating world to the modern one, is from the start caught into some sh*t by his own will. You see, he knows he is weak, that he has to do something to become stronger, yet, he decides that if a woman says pretty please, he might as well kill considering his position. Now that he has enemies, instead of, you known, laying low and waiting for the heat to weaken, he shortly after gets in even deeper shit. At most, during all these coincidences where by some luck a woman appears in front of him, with huge knockers, plump ass, perky white rabbits, godly face and sh*t like this (I'm taking most of these titles from the novel) the protagonist has cultivated for a maximum of 10 days. When he faces enemies he will always complain he is not strong enough, but I think the author even forgot that he gave the protagonist the skills to create talismans that could be used to attack.

Going in another direction, we have quite a few arcs (chapters where the protagonist has to deal with some sh*t because you know, he's so cool and strong) where the author is giving our protagonist a patriotic heart. The enemies, which of course are either Japanese or Korean, attack indiscriminately the good citizens of China, and a flame of patriotism flares in our protagonist's heart while he is also scolding the present generation for not hating the globalization, and accepting to buy things from either these two countries (J and K). He is also making a commentary about how they forgot about the war and only those old people that have seen the horrors know how much they should hate J and K (the same old people that go abroad on holidays in Europe and are mostly considered the rudest people possible). Most of us here know how f*cked up is the regime in China, so we will skip the useless explication of the ret*rded reasoning. Anyway, yes, the protagonist which is from another world and has come into the country where the police is working together with the mafia, considers that he has a duty to protect the integrity of the country. Well, let's say it straight - f*ck IT. Anyway, the main girl, which is the most perfect, also has the same views (you know, if the woman is not racist, we can be certain she is not going to be accepted by our communist protagonist). At some chapter she says how much she is detesting the northern American company named Starbucks, especially their cake which she considers to be extremely bad. She only enters the premise being forced by a situation. You can imagine the hatred and pain of entering an northern American enterprise, how they are forced to pay money for the coffee or for a snack, where they have to sit at a table and drink/eat what they ordered.

At some point you wake up and realize just how f*cking ret*rded is this story. There is no plot, there is just a bunch of coincidences, racism and women that are mixed together to give some sort of logic to the story. I'd gladly give 1/5 stars. <<less

It was good until the appearance of a certain character, which the last few chapters have been spent on her. The main character has halted his cultivation and almost everything else, because of this "beauty." There have been a few "beauties" the MC has interacting with better personalities (which both have helped the MC one way or another), but somehow the author has focused on this "beauty" with a bad attitude that is using the MC.
Spoiler

This characters was engaged to the mc's former's body, but after MC was kicked-out of the family, she broke-off the engagement. Then, some young master with a bad reputation is pursuing the female character that was engaged to the MC. In order to prevent him from pursuing her (which we know it will not happen), she is using the MC in order to fake a marriage. The reason the MC decided to help was because she reminded him of his former master, and that is all. He is a re-incarnated soul with prior knowledge and experience, but he did not stop and think about the consequences with the young master and his family. So, this character used to look down on the MC, and she still does and she pays him and when the MC accepts, she looks down on him more. However, the MC is broke so he took the money, and it is obvious the MC is broke because of where he lives. Yet, this witch keeps asking the MC for money, or asks the MC to buy expensive food because she does not have much at the moment.

[collapse]

If the story keeps focusing on this "beauty" any longer, or the MC falls for her, I will drop the series. If this annoying "beauty" disappears, this story can easily be about four stars.

This novel started well, main character had a good temperament, self-centered, focused, confident, uninterested in vanities and vain people, unwilling in involving himself with people who look down on him or wants to use him, even if they are beauties. The story was progressing well, but suddenly the MC agrees to be used by a girl, which would harm his reputation even further, knowing this girl looks down on him and is using him without remorse, and complies with every order or whim from this girl, just because. The author... more>> simply threw the plot and the main character's personality, priorities and respect down the sink. This made me regret wasting my time reading this novel. Why bother build mc's personality for over 20 chapters just to scrap it? I couldn't accept it and dropped the novel. If you like it when the author contradicts himself, or if you love inconsistencies for the sake of plot, this novel is for you. <<less

Finally Drop after chapter 113

why

Spoiler

The Desert arc disgust me

I have no idea what the hell the author think if you don't want a romance or any thing then don't even write it.

To hell the 2 girls went to a deadly desert just for the MC and when they finally meet it was like "Hey its you two, ok good bye" so annoying I was like GIVE ME BACK MY EXPECTATION, I thought this novel was different to the other novel this author written HELL NO! they are all the same Tragic MC with ZERO to EMPTY ROMANCE!

[collapse]

I am disgusted how the author use girls here to justify MC greatness they are like tools or decoration. I wonder if the author feel that is good for girls to just expect something to a man and by the end they are left behind and crush there expectation

What I hate on this novel is how the author make you think that MC and the girls has connection, you are in a false expectation that something will happen after the girls separated then search for MC and they meet again. And when they do MC was totally indifferent about them.. author why not let MC say to this poor girl.. who you?

There is no plot just your boring story where MC wanna get strong

and when you think there is ROMANCE on this novel TRUST ME there is NONE ZERO NOTHING EMPTY NADA...

So when you read MC meeting girls blah blah blah the ending is clear the girls are just decoration to waste chapters a huge empty and useless fillers of girls struggle to look for the MC and the MC was like WHO YOU? to them.

If you are a man who love to give empty promises or expectation towards a woman then this novel is for you...

BTW Author is amazing all his novel I already drop after reading hundreds chapters since its a boring never ending loop of

MC-->Want to get stronger-->Meet girls-->leave Girls--->Girls search MC-->girl find MC -->MC want to get stronger-->leave girls--->Girls search MC--->girl find mc-->meet girls... and so on... yup this basically sum the story and I was LIKE the GIRL has no reason or meaning on this novel but just a decoration to waste chapter... <<less

Some novels on this site with low ratings are real diamonds in the rough, with only slight problems bringing the average rating down. This isn't one of those novels, it's pretty awful. Complete amateur hour, EVERYTHING in the story hinges on miraculous coincidences. Every meeting, every plot point.

If MC sets up a doctor stand, one of the four charms he made is amazingly exactly the type needed to wake up someone he's never seen from her vegative state coma. All the characters he randomly meets and helps, keep on just... more>> running into each other for no reason at all. Even in a desert that no-one is ever supposed to go in. The 'desert of death' millions of miles big he keeps coincidentally running into people constantly.

I tried to give this a chance, but this author is soooo bad. Why would anybody bother translating his stuff? I don't get it. <<less

I've read the 5 first chapters, and it's quite promising! In this story, a cultivator was reincarnated into the body of someone from Earth. What I like is that he's worried about his master (a girl 3 ears older than him who loves him). He think she might've reincarnated in this world too.

Now about his circumstances :

Spoiler

The one he reincarnated into is someone from a big influential family. But because he was diagnosed as impotent, his family rejected him by saying he's not blood-related to them. So they throw him out once his father dies.

He has a little brother and sister who stayed in his family, but he's not in relation with them now. But his little brother is a good guy, he sent him 20k dollars lol

MC now tries to cultivate again on Earth, but the chi is very low, so just reaching the first stage would take him all his life. So for now he tries to make money to buy expensive herbs to advance his cultivation. <<less

This novel had a lot of potential. But the author, instead of creating something worth reading, turned it into regurgitating tr*sh. Bunch of rinse repeat, never giving the readers that great feeling of seeing our MC accomplish anything.

Spoiler

The first 100-200 chapters are pretty good, but after chapter 200 the plot starts looping. The MC is like a sailor in a ship trying to plug leaks with his fingers. A lot of characters are introduced by chapter 300, but they are just there, so while they are not completely 2D, they are written just so we know that the MC isn't the only person in the world, two love interests so far but one runs away after a misunderstanding and the other loses her memories right after MC and her decide to be together. (Horrible plot devices due to author not being able to write dialog between a couple)

[collapse]

This novel suffers from JIT syndrome, where the MC constantly and consistently arrives just in time to save the day. All of his 'people' are incompetent and unable to solve a problem, or have horrible bad luck and run into disaster just from leaving their house. Thank you those that read ahead like Dante777 for letting me know that just like water in a toilet, this story just keeps spiraling down the drain, probably to end up where this belongs. <<less

Strongest Abandoned Son is a novel about Ye Mo, a cultivator specialised in pills and charms. Ye Mo wishes to cultivates in this new world in peace, but for this he needs money to buy herbs and the daily necessities. As such he goes around selling charms, curing diseases in exchange of money. He isn't shameless to the point of doing anything for money, but some think him as a fraud leading to some misunderstandings. Some think that he is a magical/mystical doctor whose identity is a secret and whose... more>> power is unfathomable.
--
All in all, this story is about a quiet cultivator, willing to live a quiet new life in the modern world (which is less dangerous than his last world) and some misunderstandings about his identity. Recommended. 5/5

Update (may 11 2019) :

MC getting all racist is irrational because he was going around being indifferent towards the modern world. But he becomes emotional when there's some trouble between the Chinese and any other country.

This was fine at first, just skip the arc. But it gets tiring and you'll find yourself sickened by the Author's ploy to insert racism into the story.

A nice to read novel.

As of now there is only 5 chapters, which isn't much, but I can say that it's looking good for now.

For people who like an MC with a calm head, this can be what you are looking for.

Just give it a try and see for yourself if it suits your taste or not. The chapters aren't too long for a quick read.

I hope it can get releases faster at the beginning, since that will show if it has potential or now.

Edit: Please note that I have updated this review. My first review was written after reading about 550 chapters and the 2nd review was written after I had completed the entire series. To allow comparison, I shall leave my first review intact.
Spoiler

--- First Review [up to c550] ---

I just had to say a word in fairness because of the spate of bad reviews. It is really not a terribad story. I am around 1/4 through the story. The translation is up to around 250. I read the raws til about 550. And the fact that I even bothered to read the raws would, at least to me, meant that the story is sufficiently compelling enough for me to continue.

Let's talk about the pros of the story. The transported genre is nothing new but the idea of an ancient cultivator transporting to the modern world is kind of fresh. Usually it is the other way round. On top of that he was also no one special before he got transported. The only reason why he is strong is because he knows the proper immortal training method unlike those in the modern world. Thats about it.

I also of kind the fact that the MC is one who is sort of strong, dont give a shit, and of the harem genre. (I guess it should be a harem genre). Whether it is the monogamy kind of relationship or the harem type, I don't have special aversion to any. I just find it odd that many readers have a natural tendency to dislike such an MC, I am not sure why. I mean, if someone is really as kick ass as the MC, I am sure he would get alot of female attention.

Cons of the story. There is probably some spoiler here so read at your own risk.

1) Enemies are kind of ret*rded. Really. Every single antagonist male out there is a h**ny idiot who thinks with their dick. They will always get into the trouble because of trying to sleep or r*pe or force or kidnap MC's female sister, friend, lover, gf, etc. You get the point. And there are always ret*rds out there. MC is already an overbearing piece of sh*t who goes around killing everyone and in the modern day and age, you still have idiots who try and piss him off in the most ret*rded way.

So basically every guy who isnt a cultivator goes like this. Is interested in some female close to the MC. Tries to touch said female. Or is c*cky to MC. Got wrecked by MC. s*upidly calls backup. Threatens to kill MC and his family and friends. Gets the entire clan wiped out. And this repeats itself.

The 2nd type of antagonist are the s*upid f*cks who are greedy and keep underestimating the MC. I am not sure why would anyone want to bet their lives against such a s*upid thing of pissing him off. I really hope the enemies get less one dimensional and grow some brains. I mean... I dont need them to be smart, I just need them to have some common sense.

2) The MC is kind of s*upidly arrogant. He keeps thinking the world is based on whoever's fist is the biggest. He goes around wiping everyone but every once in a while he will get his loved ones into trouble in which he will sort of happily resolve in the end. Kind of like plot armour. Not only the enemy underestimate him, he underestimates the enemies as well and keeps getting into situations he almost died.

That is my two biggest gripe about the story so far. All in all, no surprises. Not much plot twist. A very typical kind of... I am strong so I go around destroying you if I dont like you. Throw in pretty girls and harem. It is not a terrible read really but not an outstanding one.

--- 2nd Review [Completed] ---

The funny thing is after all my complaints about the story, all the issues described above were minimized or heavily reduced after that. The MC realizes that you do not simply go around killing everyone because you would inevitably get your loved ones in trouble. He also (after a while) realizes that you do not simply go around killing everyone. In that sense, there is a limited sort of progression.

Also after he reaches cultivation realm, the "every male is a h**ny ass" problem seems to be magically solved. Probably because his wives were not with him at that time. Probably also because female cultivators are generally all pretty good looking so the disparity isnt that great so we dont get the braindead idiots from the first 500 or so chapters.

After a while, the story becomes kind of a typical Xianxia story although the first 1/4 of the story doesnt seem like it. Like every Xianxia story, he will go through powerups via either some godly treasure in the form of some skills or some items or maybe himself.

There is Romance, and Harem. Even though it is a Harem, the MC truly loves and likes those females. Actually in fact, he missed and passed up on other good girls who liked him because he wanted to stay faithful but for one reason or another found himself with additional wives due to some, I would say, exceptional circumstances.

The ending of the story seemed rushed. But in all honesty, most of the novels had kind of crap endings. The author tried to plug gaps every now and then. All in all, it is kind of an interesting read.

I was hopeful at the beginning. The protagonist's somewhat distant, cultivation-oriented mindset, along with the quiet passage of time, made look forward to an older, more combative version of the MC from Post-’80s Cultivation Journal or My Daoist Life.

But it turns into dozens of chapters about generic beauties being interested in the MC, with unbelievable interactions bringing them together. The occasional combat features the MC easily beating up or killing non-cultivators, to the amazement of spectating women. It's more like a cartoon filled with ridiculous situations than a somewhat believable... more>> sitcom.

This book's author makes it very hard to remain interested in his book. Overall I like the world he built but, he makes repeated s*upid plot choices that make it hard to even keep reading. After this review I have decided to put this one hold and read something else and maybe my frustration with the authors horrible writing habits will go down enough to finish the book.

Someone hitting on or trying to steal one of the MC's wives, female family members or other female friends happens about every 20-30... more>> chapters (not an exaggeration). This same plot progression is regurgitated over and over and over (x500).

He writes the MC's wives into idiots. The MC tells them that he is leaving to go look for resources and he may even be gone years in the process and tells them to wait for him at the City they just spent hundreds of chapters working to build. This place was meant to be their home for their family to live in peace. So when the MC vanishes for 10 years what do the idiots do? The leave to look for the MC. Because the idiots left, after just 2 years the City they worked so hard on starts to be corrupted and slow taken over by their enemies. But, where were the MC's most trusted and powerful people who he left behind to protect the city? They went looking for the MC going through an array leading to a small world where many Hidden Sects are located.

What makes this all the more s*upid is that at the exact moment he returns from the Small word the group of idiots entered the array leading them in just as he went out. Oh and had the MC not returned at that exact moment the idiots would have all been killed because it was the MC returning that allowed them to survive the trip through the array.

But, the s*upidity continues later when the MC finally decides to go look for the idiots (his wives) and of course at just the moment he enters the array another random array pops up in the Small world and of course the idiots decide to go through to return to their Husband but, of course that would be to simple and the array ends up sending them to an even higher plane despite the fact that they supposedly already confirmed the array would lead them back home.

The best part of this book is the fact that it in-cooperates Modern Tech with the Cultivation world but, the author seems to have become bored with that and has now starting writing your average Cultivation LN. Tossing out the unique aspects of the book now that you got your readers on the line is simply bad writing.

After reading the spoiler below its good to see someone else felt where I was coming from.

But what's even more annoying is when the author finally does something unpredictable, it's so unbelievably s*upid, it would surprise you why someone can think of something so incredibly s*upid as a twist. i finally decided to stop reading this, I can't come to like the MC, no matter what he goes too far

the whole "i don't mess with people, but people can't mess with me" mindset is okay in theory, but MC keep contradicting himself! he critique powerful people for treating normal people like ants, then he goes to kill all guards of a place to enter prohibited places, or kill soldiers wanting to check on his boat when he enter their territorial waters, or kill off investigators sent by the governments... more>> so they don't dare come again... ISN'T IT TREATING UNRELATED PEOPLE LIKE ANTS??

bloody hells, the world if this story is not sustainable as it is written, the big factions throw willingly their WHOLE strengths against the MC's faction every time a single person from their big faction hit the wall after pissing off the MC, and it seems they do that each time someone oppose them, without checking investigating before hand, how did those factions not kill each other to the ground yet? I refuse to believe not a single person from another big faction ever slap the face of someone from another big faction

also, MC wants to believe he is a proper nice guy, but if people he doesn't know are dying in front of him, he has never the thought of helping them "not my problem" while he could have saved them without much effort, heck, he even let his sister's adoptive mother su*cide while he goes to kill a dude that he could have targeted any time, he also go explore stuff for weeks with his phone out of battery and gets upset when he comes back and his people are under attack and they couldn't call him for help, it happen ALL THE TIME! but nah, he never tries to fix the problem

he also always, always, always underestimate Earth and the practitioners of our world, "too bad this planet can't have that thing from my previous world", "wtf, how come I just found this stuff that is the same as my previous world, must be an exeption", "too bad i'll never get this", "wtf, I just found that"... he NEVER question himself on how he could have being wrong before, despite him finding countless times that stuff don't work his he thought

he has also the bad mentality of "people of Earth are too dumb to know the real use of precious materials, because they gave them different names than what I was used to from my past world, better steal those from them, so I can make better use of them" yes, MC is a thief, not even giving a sh*t about killing to obtain stuff that isn't his, he even freaking BROKE INTO AND ROBBED common people's banks in order to found his personal town!!

yeah, can't like the MC, he's a jerk, I stop here, have a fun reading <<less

Started out really interesting - but at this point I just kind of want to know what happens in the end.

I created this account to write this review to warn you not to start this novel. LOL. You'll get to chapter 1000+ before you realize how crappy it is.

The author churns out new characters and then kills them off in less than a few paragraph. But then, in order to avenge these sideshow bobs, he produces more characters and then kills them off immediately.

Finally, a few hundred chapters later, he... more>> casually brings us back to those characters as our MC meets yet another friend/family/master or whatnot of those sideshow bobs, looking for revenge or whatnot.

The MC also meets a ton of people. Like a social gathering, these tons of people then allows him to meet other people, etc. Have no fear, in about 1000 chapters later, the writer will bring these people back with new problems for MC to kill.

At first I thought about keeping an index or whatnot to keep track of who is who and how they met MC. There are just wayyyyyy too many names being thrown at you and then thrown out!! However, at this point, I am just skim reading the events as I know the names are irrelevant anyway - they are going to die very soon. Or leave. Or leave and come back. Or leave and die. Whatever. The main point is, MC is strongest.

The universe the author built, is also an issue. The typical arrogant characters with no control over their lust for pretty women is everywhere! You'd think that with stronger arrogant characters killing weaker arrogant characters like its fashion would make everyone learn to be humble and wary. But NOOO. If you so far as stare at someone wrong in this universe, they'll want your head. Stronger characters kills and steal from weaker characters all the time, so much so it makes you wonder how on earth can anyone make friends with anyone at all, for MC to chain kill. And the MC is the worst offender of all. I can't wait for him to finally stumble on a character stronger than he is, and gets killed before regretting it, like he did to hundreds of other arrogant men out there. Worth noting the ratio of death is like 1:100 between women and men. Women don't get killed in this novel. You'd think the strongest characters on earth would be women, since their survival ratio is so good. In fact, seeing that strong men characters see women as possessions in this novel, the common sense would be that a pretty woman would be owned by multiple characters during their life times, slowly going up the ladder of power as their new, stronger owner kills the weaker previous owners. Right? It only make sense. But no, somehow, even in this universe where every men kills other men for women, the women that MC meets are all virtuous women with no owners. It makes no sense.

Then there is the motivation. What is the driving motivation for the MC? He wants to live forever with his love, and in order to do so, so far, he has spent years training, not spending time with them. Honestly, by the way he is going and leveling up, a mortal of 90 years of life would have "lived" a fuller life more than he did at the end. Whats the point of living forever if the cumulative time of him being with his love in the last 10 years is about 1 month? He'll leave his spouse for years, bang someone else, come back for a month then go again. Honestly, best sugar daddy ever!

Nothing makes sense in this novel and its aggravating but the beginning was interesting and thats what makes me keep at it. But it keeps getting worse. The translation is going all over the place. Besides the absolutely sexist way the writer treats women, the racist part infuriates me, and it came out of nowhere somewhere in the middle. Racist is when one can have a multitude of attitudes towards one's race, including anger, hate, love, pity, etc.... but only one attitude when it comes to other race, that is, "don't F*& with us - we are superior.". Thats racist. Luckily the author stopped writing about it somewhere in the middle of the book.

Dont be like me. Dont start this novel. <<less

A decent modern fantasy novel ruined by incessant b*tching about racism.

Racism is all about your race being superior and praising every aspect of it while slandering an inferior race.

The dimwitted readers on lots of occasions accused the author of being a racist. It started pretty small during the American arc but turned into a full-blown harassment when the story reached Japan. See the implication here? Japan held a great portion of internet warriors due anime weebos so when a Japanese organization was getting butchered by the MC, they started digging... more>> the history between China and Japan and other countries to justify their blatant accusation of the author being racist while disregarding few facts.

What are these few facts I'm talking about?

One, 90% of villains in this story are rapist, mu*derer, corrupt officials, kidnappers or robbers which happens to be Chinese. Yes, not American not Japanese not Koreans BUT Chinese. Nobody complained when Chinese are being portrayed as scums but when other countries are being portrayed as scums people lashed out as if you burned their asses. The thing is that the author never discriminated. Every country has their fair share of abominable acts. But no no no, my beloved country is shit-stained by this author so let's call him names. Shakes my head.

Two, a racist never shoot their own legs because in their perspective he/she belongs to a superior race. The author never praised Chinese. There's no indication whatsoever including other countries than China in the novel.

Three, as much as I dislike to include this - there's NO Korean in this novel. If there's a surefire way to call a Chinese author expressing their dissatisfaction on a particular group of people, then the top 1 on the list is to thrash Koreans. But the novel does NOT have Koreans, so... there you go.

Nowadays, it's VERY hard to write international novels because if you write even a bit of something these closet racists do not like, then your novel would be thrown out of the bookshelf if not set on fire in the backyard.

So what did the author do in response? At bit over chapter 830, the author decided to throw away all modern Xuanhuan plot lines and bring back the old Xianxia setting despite being horribly forced and nonsensical. A lot of people dislike but I'm sure the author just got fed up being harassed. This novel clearly shows how much readers affects webnovel authors and choices in writing the story. In this sense you can call your readers - pseudo editors. Kudos to the author for lasting a long time! <<less

You don't really know what the author wants. The reader just put in a roller coaster of feel making you sick of overused sappy drama and tragedy. It'd be still fine if it's just one person but when harem is the theme, you are split into [insert harem number] and put into those number of roller coaster. Oh, did I mention the roller coaster seems to be endless as well? There you go. It's like the author has a memo when a female character hasn't been in tragedy for some... more>> time, he'd automatically write abrupt tragedy for her and wait as a damsel in distress until MC notices her.

Upon seeing the chapters numbers 2266, I know I don't need to waste time reading it further. I'd still read it if it just goes up to 600-800ish but 2000 is just milking the cow for this kind of story (something that began with Erectile Dysfunction) and writing.

You may see 4-5 stars review... I guarantee you if those folks read until later chapters, those rank will drop to a miserable stars. Of course, there are some who will still give 4-5 stars because they seem like this kind 'wish fulfillment' (Heh, that's too much sugar coating, I call it 'm*sturbation') story. <<less

This is a hard story for me to review.

So far I've enjoyed the read. The overall plot and story progression feels natural.

70% of this story is really well written.

The other 30% is kind of odd. Hiccups within a good story. These varied hiccups are kind of hard to describe, and ruins the flow of the story.

It all seems to stem from an unplanned story line: Things like weak explanations/details/scene/transition changes stand out when 70% of them are well written.

Example: ... more>>
Spoiler

-MC decides to go back to his house when he knows people are looking for him... (Couldn't the handshake guy from the party who had the same scent as special ops team find him and let him know about his injured wife?)

- Or the poor reactions of the special ops group at a trained snake...

- He went to this crime town on the border, seemed like a really good setting, but accomplished nothing besides showing off and killing people... Felt more like an abandoned arc... Still like it though.

[collapse]

Having written this, I can't say that the characters stand out, nor the action, nor the cultivation. So this plus the hiccups means that the writing is not particularly solid.

Even though I'm giving it 3 stars, In my mind its closer to 3.7 as of right now. Reading Athlon's review, I suspect that this might lower in the future. <<less
