This novel is, in my opinion, just bad. Through process of reading it I always had hope that it'll surely get better, but I was disappointed. :/ Of course it had some better parts, but over all it is just not worth getting into.

Spoiler

It's just a petty story of overpower protagonist with his own harem and with practicly no plot-twists. Everything is clear as day, so when the time for big reveal is coming the outcome is nothing special (like story of his dad ((s*upid :p)))

You guys don't know how much I love a MC that underestimates himself, its thousandfolds better than a certain MC,

*cough*chu feng*cough* who doesn't know his limits and acts too c*cky for a disgustingly weak character.

So yeah, I liked reading this one.

... more>> Edit: So after reading it for some time now, I've come to a conclusion.

Even though the author claims that this novel is 'just' light hearted (which it really is) it still lacks any depth so far which I dont think is a good thing.

So if You are somwhat hyped for romance after reading first few chapters, please read the spoiler below

Spoiler

So when MC is abondened on earth, the gods envoy (a beauty) comes to him and accompanies him for a millinia, eventually falling for the MC and at the same time MC also falls for her (atleast the author says so).

When its time for humanity to return the love birds r forced to seperate and the MC makes a firm resolve that he will become strong enough to snatch his sweetheart from the heavens. Then comes the entry of second heroine (another angel), who also 'unexpectedly' gets close to him.

And numerous times when he (the mc) is close to death, the author reminds us that he's living for the sole purpose of reuniting with his 'first love'

And surprisingly he DOES reunite with her just after two months of seperation.

Unlike the spark u would imagine to be formed after they reunite NOTHING of that sort happens.

The MC is like,

"Oh, Hey! We meet again. What a coincidence."

[collapse]

And that was really a mood killer for me. It would've been fine if the author didnt give any signal but he DID give them and nothing happened.

Also the storyline seems to be missing, I think. <<less

The whole angel thing really drags down every part of the story. Author should have focused more on developing the main character and the story, and not so much on writing unintelligent angel filler commentary.

Maybe it works in the original language, I don't know, but it really doesn't work in the translation.

The novel is good at the beginning, but for me it was a let down.

SPOILER:

the things that make it a let down is that the protagonist is OP but s*upid in terms of combat.. in one of the chapters he fight with a leopard and rather than killing it with one blow in the head, he choose to aim the blow to one of the leopards eye and that cause it not killing it instantly when he could've just do it.. I mean he could literally run for 60km/h and... more>> he also had damage bonuses when he was in Stealth not to mention another crit bonuses also his weapon attack damage is like 1k damage.. he basically could become a one shot one kill Stealth ballistic missile and be done with it.. like seriously...

PS: There is a touching moment between MC and his mom and I very much like it.. because it something sweet

I apologize if my English is a mess <<less

I spent 6 days in a row reading and I enjoyed it alot. I had hoped for a better romance than this though.

Spoiler

The romance was really late in the story and was like 2-4 chapters long excluding the onesided love, jealousy, and epilogue/extras. It also waited until the epilogue for the other girls feelings to get accepted. Marriage even happened after the epilogue.

[collapse]

There were a few plot holes I ended up seeing to.

Spoiler

Why was Na YuNa sought by the higher existences if all of them already had a love interest, or wanted complete destruction? Though maybe it was carried out by the officers, low ranks of the factions, or a matter of pride.

Another one is the cross bag which had effects added to it even though you shouldn't be able to tinker it. It might be counted as an item rather than an artifact though.

Last one is heavens rewards. How did they give stat points to people and how did they give skills? Shouldn't they improve themselves if they can gift him stuff? Maybe it was a matter of the difference in league or they had in their treasury or something.

I'm probably complaining too much for a comedy but I tried to make sense of it

[collapse]

Now about the stuff I liked. I like the progression of it where the MC would constantly surpass himself, and the reactions from the others when he did.

Spoiler

I like the fact that nothing useless was put in (for example the first 5th class fight was shown the rest were not. I like the comedy of it I didn't burst out laughing but I smiled and thought that was pretty good. I love the crafting especially when he made something a tier up.

I like the fact that he slowly went from a lonely man on earth to gaining followers to leading a faction as god. Each of his followers were loyal and were mostly different from eachother in personality.I like the fact that the MC was not trusting, and was merciless against most of his enemies. His will was strong against dead souls in him, living for 1000 years without losing his mind, and etc.

I enjoyed watching the evolution of the MC from human to god. I do wish though the final fight was better. It ended quick and his followers that he armed were pointless. Maybe the point was just that he surpassed god and that since he was god he didn't have to put much effort.

Also really glad because of the training long time type time skips (1000 years, or in a dungeon).

[collapse]

I'll probably read it again in the future and hopefully I won't read it 6 days in a row again. <<less

re-reading for the 5th time. decided to look at the reviews and see mostly low ratings. I guess its just a matter of preference. but the fact that I can re read the whole story that many times shows that its definitely on the good side of the scale. though for ppl that feel like they need 'something' to critique for a story ive found the only plot hole in the story. ch 78 ertas talkin to MC about how you cant just keep enchanting on multiple enchantments onto an... more>> equipment.... so whats the deal with the crossbag then? never explained. pretty much the only plot whole in the whole novel. <<less

It's been a long rideee for novel with 300or so chap. I thought it will be full of tragedy after I read the synopsis but well, there's comedy as well.

Gaah the romance tag should be removvedd!!! Change it into the romantic subplot, I mean the denser-than-the-densest MC is too dense. Well I do feel fulfilled after reading the side-story and I think the first side story is more suited to be the true ending.

Overall it's a good novel. Don't expect "that" scene between MC and his wives in detail and... more>> you will be good. <<less

While it is a power fantasy, it's also pretty fun and the world is interesting. About my only complaint is towards the end.

All the planets merging into one mega planet made zero sense to me.

Otherwise it's great. Yes it is a harem, but honestly it's not as bad as most of them out there and it's a very slow building one not a I WANT TO BEAR YOUR CHILDREN BECAUSE YOU WERE SORT OF KIND OF NICE TO ME ONCE sort of thing.

Start- A slow start to the series, it takes it's time to get going but I found this enjoyable and refreshing, each time a character is introduced we get solid foundations on those characters.

Middle - MC faces many opponents and boss type opponents as usual for this type he is often fighting enemies stronger than him. There is chapters focused completely on off time where he is crafting/cooking/training etc but I never found these boring. The MC I a labour machine and is constantly on the go.

End- Wont' say but... more>> there is a proper Romance setup in this series multiple heroines setup, who will be main heroine?

Battles-The mobs are handled fast and when moving onto boss' see a lot of the MC's strategy, there is a very good stat and ability system and weapon system setup and very well explained throughout the series

Conclusion - it's a long time to finish reading but 100% worthwhile. <<less

This is probably the first Korean Novel I could finish as for this moment. Many of those had great premises but when the story proceeds it tend to get uninteresting and flat. I think EER is very good in a sense it's always able to keep me interested from the start to finish.

You might like this if you like OP MC's, I tend to like OP MC's with cheat abilities and able to steamroll their enemies and also comedic stories, but those kind of elements won't be able to keep... more>> me going if the story's development aren't interesting. I kind of stopped reading Konjiki no Moji Tsukai due to this matter. It all starts out pretty solid and coherent with OP MC and interesting abilities but as it went on, he really has no actual goal and the story just start getting nowhere and end up rather boring. Doesn't mean the story wasn't good, it's just didn't interest me anymore.

In EER there was the concrete goal of getting stronger and raising Earth to withstand Great Cataclysms. The story mostly focuses on the MC, but it's enough for me because he's rather likeable and had a strong conviction to boot. He was a loner by nature but he doesn't act like a d*ck (except to his enemies), he's a hardworking person by nature and iirc he didn't win his fights through sheer luck. Maybe he did appear at the right place and the right time due to plot devices, but I see strategy and using your overpowered skills and support from your allies to defeat enemies rather than bullsh*t nakama power and ai no chikara thing.

Spoiler

Well, the thing with his girlfriend might seem like ai no chikara stuff but it's actually planned by the MC from even before the battle, which is another plus point for me.

[collapse]

The side characters might seem just be there to make people realize how awesomely strong and talented MC was, but it was okay because I also think he's awesome. They were all likeable enough for me, even Na Yuna who was just there to annoy the MC every single time for the lols, but my favorite was Lucifer so far. His snarky comments in the extras were comedy gold mine.

Although Yu Ilhan is OP af, I love how the Author didn't just make him easily slaughter the enemies but there's some thought and strategy behind how every battle goes, that even if he's the strongest human being out there, he would still struggle in his fights. A little spoiler down below that makes me laugh so hard right around the ending.

Spoiler

The fight against the final boss ended up anticlimatic and it was so quick because he grind too much.

Reminds me on how I play RPG games, grind grind grind and the final boss ended up being a piece of cake.

[collapse]

The comedy was pretty good and it felt like a JP Novel that I usually read, but I continued reading until the end because the story was consistent from the start to finish, and it kept the momentum going before ending up with a nice bang. I especially enjoy the crafting scenes in this novel, probably even more so than in the battle, the same reason I got hooked on A Certain Middle Aged Man VRMMO's Activity Log (I followed the manga since the novel seem to be a bit behind in the story).

I'm really thankful able to come across this novel. I might came across equally interesting stories but this might be one the best for a pretty long time. I recommend this for:

  1. Those who like OP MC's and comedy.
  2. Those who like stories about crafting.
  3. Those who enjoy good fight scenes with a bit of strategy.
  4. Last of all, those who could relate to the MC because they're also a loner (like me).
This might be a hit and miss for some, but for me it's a big hit. Thanks for reading thus far. <<less

loved it. The storyline was unique, humor was on point, pacing was pretty good too. Translation was superb.

the author notes really add to the overall enjoyment too - don't skip those if you can!

two little things that bothered me a bit (but didn't really ruin the story overall)

Spoiler

1) how that harem came together at the end was kind of random and super-unbelievably-fast

2) not entirely sure why all the worlds had to merge into one giant one, but oh well.

Well, for me this novel is perfect. I am thankful that I did not read any of the reviews since I would not discover this gem if that happened (maybe it's a matter of preferences, but I enjoyed it despite the MC being so OP and entertaining at the same time). Anyway, have a fun read!

I really did enjoy it, though there are parts where you just totally just binge read everything but still find something to look forward to, letting you read on.

I have to say that it does deserve it's spot in the Top 25, why you ask, well just from reading it alone you can see the consideration and heart that both the translating team put in this novel. The witty remarks and the enlightening side... more>> comments. It all led to making a wonderfully translated novel in which we readers can enjoy and even though I do bias myself into reading chinese novels, these are one of the best korean-translated ones I found along with Emperor of Solo Play and Seoul Station Necromancer (They're also a good read).

Thank you to the translators for bringing us a delight and for the author for creating it. Do continue on translating. <<less

A very good novel, the MC is a loner who becomes OP after a 1000 years training. Even though he's overpowered, we can see as the MC develops during the story. He starts with the Earth's knowledge and he ends up studying even books and subjects from other worlds such as magic engineering. Being a loner he can't understand that all the girls around him have fallen for him, however this is different from japanese novels. Here the MC only cares about his well-being and if necessary he even kills... more>> humans without hesitation. There are some mysteries which bring the reader to want to know the truth behind some matters. For example who is God? No one knows it, it's an existence that is yet to be revealed. The overall novel is very good, the mc's personality is unique, there is a lot of comedy and there are many references to anime, manga and novels. <<less

This is a dumb yet immensely enjoyable series.

The premise is as follows: Yu IlHan, a Korean university student, gets left behind when everyone else gets "raptured" into different worlds. To make up to him, Heaven (or rather, an organization of transcendent beings calling themselves Heaven's Army) dispatches an angel to help him out. As she explains, there are countless worlds in the multiverse that "level up" by going through cataclysms. During a cataclysm, native animals mutate into monsters, people get to use mana, and they also get access to the... more>> Akashic Records, manifesting in RPG style status panels, jobs and skills. Since Earth was about to go through its first cataclysm, the God of Heaven's Army transports humans onto other worlds for 10 years to learn how to use mana, but since the protagonist is left behind, he decides to learn martial arts and train in his own way until humanity returns. Unfortunately, because of a strange case of time-dilatation that no one can explain, the 10 years turn into 1000, during which the protagonist keeps compulsively learning martial arts, crafting, dismantling and everything else he can in order to keep his sanity, so when humanity finally returns, he starts out with a ridiculous stat- and skill-advantage that just gets more and more insane as the story goes on.

Now then, what is the main draw of this work?

Is it the plot? No, not really. There isn't much of a plot to speak of, to be honest. Instead the story proceeds through separate arcs, with a cold war between the transcendent beings serving as a loose thread that connects all the crazy events the protagonist gets involved in.

Is it the characters? No, not really. The protagonist is not particularly well-written (he is over 1000 years old, yet he still acts like a teenager and he is so dense that he is unable to even recognize that multiple women are pursuing him, even though he knew one of them for the aforementioned 1000 years, aware of the second being a tsundere, and the third going through the entire gamut of awkward novel romance tropes even though he uses the same tropes to "predict the future" all the time). The side-characters are also lukewarm at most. We have the lovestruck angel who is signaling harder than an air-control tower yet gets ignored all the time, the tsundere angel who usually serves as the straight-woman complaining about the protagonist's weirdness, the super-beautiful and super-talented human girl (who was supposed to be the main love-interest, but got overtaken by the popularity of the angels) and... honestly, that's about it. There are a couple of other characters, but they are mostly just simple ones with one or two traits who only exist to pad out the cast.

Is it the writing? No, not really. The comedy is very peculiar and full of random fourth-wall breaking meta-humor (such as the angels reading the protagonist's thoughts by reading the actual lines, or him predicting the future by pinpointing foreshadowings, such as that him gaining a spear that is designed against dragons meaning he would have to soon fight one), and at best I would say it is tolerable. At least I have never found myself smiling, let alone laughing. The character-interactions are also mostly subordinated to the classic tsukkomi-routine, and the entire works becomes fairly repetitive in this regard from very early on.

Is it the fight-scenes? Well, sorta, but not quite. The combat is definitely not bad, but not in a "sitting-on-the-edge-of-your-seat", "you-are-worried-for-the-survivial-of-the-characters" kind of way. In fact, most of the enjoyment in the fight scenes comes from the creative ways the protagonist combines various powers and artifacts for insane results, such as using a magical bag-of-holding, jumping high into the air with a skill, using an atlatl to fire his spear at a dragon below, transfer the weight of his bag onto the spear with a skill mid-flight, hit the dragon, then recall the spear with a different skill, transfer the weight to his boots instead, stomp on the dragon on landing, and then stab it again with the freshly retrieved spear. And with that we actually reached the actual reason I liked reading this work:

The power-up cycle. In fact, you might as well call this "Power-up-cycle, the story." Each arc works like this: Protagonist gets a lot of materials -> He uses his amazing crafting skills to make/upgrade his equipment -> He fights enemies that are way out of his league using his OP equipment -> He gets really powerful skills/combinations/jobs/titles -> He beats even stronger enemies -> He gets even better materials -> Back to step 1

Now, if you are annoyed by this kind of repetitiveness, then this is really not a story for you. However, if you enjoy watching a main character getting better at a steady (if breakneck) pace while also reading some entertaining (if shallow) character interactions and consistent (if not particularly deep) metaphysics, this will scratch that itch for you. <<less

In terms of technicality, this novel is far from the best. Honestly, it's your typical "bland antisocial MC who somehow managed to cheat his way out of the system" novel.

Yet it captivated me. The premise where the world itself levels up managed to grab my attention but what managed to make me stay was the author's consistency with the way he develops the system of the world he is creating unlike other authors who constantly asspulls new systems without proper background leading to it. Props to the translators too for... more>> doing a very good job.

On the downside, the majority of the supporting characters lack serious developments. They just aren't interesting enough for me to care about them although they do get their spotlight once in a while but I'm sure I won't feel anything for them when something bad happens. The author's comedy need some time to get used to but I guess it differs for everyone. I sometimes cringe with his forced comedic anime references.

I rate this highly due to the fact that I'm just a sucker for very good game-like world systems and OP MCs. This somehow reminds me of Rise of the Shield hero which I highly recommend too. For readers that do not like OP MCs, this novel will disappoint you since the MC never truly had a moment where he gets beaten down one-sidedly. But to those who enjoy well crafted novels where the author knows what he is doing, then I believe that you will enjoy this. <<less

I really like this story. The main character's super lonerness is hilarious, especially with how far he takes it. There are even understandable circumstances behind how it came to be, too. The main character had some pretty huge power jumps throughout the series, and it only looks like it is going to be more ridiculous in the future as well. I do want to say though, that my favorite character is not the main one, it is Erta. Alright boys! Listen up! This series is the real deal. Forget those generic lame ass fantasy novels with RPG element, coz this one ain't nothing like dat! This is simply amazing. It starts out really strong, right away you will get hooked on the very first chapter. Very interesting premise.

I really loved the beginning, where you read how he changes mentally over the years. It was quite emotional as well when you think about being in his shoes... Imagine that happening to you, all those centuries. MC is a true loner and survivor. MC is OP? So? He actually EARNED it through hard work and dedication, he never gave up all those time. That alone earned my... more>> respect.

I enjoy reading this simply because it's not boring and is in fact quite entertaining to read. It has humor in it, MC is pretty laid back and joking a lot. <<less
