Evolution Theory of the Hunter

Description

In a world of dungeons and monsters you can become strong if you merely have enough money.

Rare skillbooks that can magically upgrade your skills in an instant are sold at exorbitant prices. So only the privileged and rich are able to buy their way to become hunters – a much revered occupation that allows one to enter dungeons and hunt monsters.

Our MC is a porter, a sort of caddie for hunters. He dreams of one day becoming a hunter when he comes into possession of a skillbook.

But the skill is a level 0. Something unheard of. No one wants it. People laugh at it. But he learns the skill – only to find that it may be the most amazing one yet.

Very good characters and detail to suroundings. Usually with a labyrinth type of novel its either the characters are always in the labyrinth or either sometimes out or in also I like this kind of new point system instead of leveling

Chapter 33 - 4/5

- Grammar & formatting mostly OK

- Story nice to read but the MC gets strong too fast so the usual scene was implemented

- Girls: harem element seems to be in view

- Open question if he is the only one where the 0 series drops

Review as of chapter 32. It is a bit on the early side but the concept of a world controlled by money and terrorized by monsters is an interesting one. It is too early to give a proper review however this is a novel that has caught my attention.

The protagonist is one who through luck aquires the ability to level up his own physical abilites. This doesn't actually show up until around chapter ~16 but after that the story gets going on earnest.

A take on VRMMO but takes place in the real world. With dungeons, skills and equipment. The premise is quite interesting. The MC is boring, but not cheesy or coward. The story progress a little slow at times, but doesn't drag on too much.

I recommend it.

Review as of Chapter 25

The premise of the story is good. The protagonist starts off being a pitiful person but then learns a skill - a seemingly useless skill. However this skill proves to be worth more than what it seems. The tension throughout the story so far is great and I hope it continues that way. (I can feel my heart pounding almost every other chapter)

One of maybe 5 new Korean novels I’ve added to my list in the last month. As of chapter 17, I’m really loving this. The story is progressing nicely and doesn’t have that rushed feeling to it that some novels, especially chinese ones have. A lower class, hard working protag slowly powers up living in a world where there is a huge difference between classes based on wealth.

Also, the exposition and world building comes in bearable doses and doesn't feel uncomfortable.

Translator is doing a good job with this: grammatically clean... more>> without losing the author’s style, although they seem to be converting money to dollar amounts. Nice of them to make the effort, but I’m not really sure how I feel bout that. <<less

If nothing else the setting is rather interesting. Think of LMS' Weed stuck in a magical world where only rich people have any chance to become powerful and that's half of what we've got so far.

It's still early to tell but I like it so far. It gets good starting from chapter two. I like how the action starts right away. Hopefully it stays at this pace.
