Villainess or Heroine? First and Foremost, That is the Question?

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

I, Margarete Fondine, an Earl’s daughter recovered my past life’s memories when I was hovering at the boundaries of life and death.

I have reincarnated as the heroine in my favorite otome game from my past life.

But, hold on a second.

Am I really the heroine?

In my past life, I also liked web novels.

Particularly stories that featured villainesses as the main characters, reading a trifling amount that roughly exceeded three figures.

In those stories, the heroine was generally a fool who paid for her mistakes through a tragic end.

If I am perhaps not the heroine, then am I not the stalker heroine in the villainess’ story?

Whether I’m the heroine or not, it is necessary for me to investigate this first.

This is all for the sake of not attracting my future destruction!

Ah, I'm so ashamed of myself. The reason my review is short one star... the reason I begrudge the male lead... is...

I WILL NEVER FORGIVE A LUNCH THIEF!!!

Spoiler

Seriously, though, the guy knows she's from an impoverished noble family and has to work to make ends meet. His sister is apparently in the same situation. Was he seriously unaware that asking her to use her supplies to make him a lunch might mean her being forced to go without? This ignorance is unforgivable! I'm legit mad! Or maybe just hangry, come to think of it.

A really good oneshot that I want to be a complete series... it's not missing anything though.

Although there might be cliches, the story is still interesting. Not a lot of characterization because it's short, but I can understand the MC well.

Overall, it's really cute and the romance is predictable but heartwarming/adorable.

The premise of the story is slightly different, since the roles of villainess and heroine are different in the otome game.

It's a really cute oneshot, and although the plot isn't unique, the story is heart-warming enough that I would probably re-read this story sometime again in the future.

The story begins with the protagonist ensuring that her role in the story is either a heroine or a villianess.
Spoiler

She soon believes shes the heroine, and attempts to ensure the well-being of the other characters by not intruding and not stealing the other's fiances. The male MC falls in love first, and helps guide the story. Funnily enough, the male protagonist ends up stalker her, just as much as she is stalking all the other characters.

[collapse]

Overall, it's a pretty short story, so there isn't a long-drawn romance, but it's cute and fluffy. I'd recommend this is you're in the mood for something more heartwarming.

I'm not sure what I want to feel about this read.

Firstly, it felt like the plot moved way too fast, and the MC was just pushed around by the ML the entire time, being coerced into everything. This was like the cliché cliché of the clichés. Not like I'm saying it's a terrible read, but it lacked originality and I would probably never read again. I do understand that it was a oneshot and it's very difficult to pack much content into one measly chapter, but it felt like I... more>> just read through the entire novel, but 20x faster. And with barely any detail and plot.

Me being nitpicky:

Spoiler

I also really dislike how the story's climax was because someone's magic powers went out of control because they were "tired???" And then the ML comes and heals her after she gets injured because of that incident, and she apparently has to stay with him for half a year, which leads to him again forcing her in an engagement because she apparently owes him a debt now.

[collapse]

tdlr: cliché.

sorry, I just didn't enjoy it. I can see why you might, judging by some other's reviews, but it simply was not my cup of tea. But you might enjoy it, knock yourself out. <<less

There are stories where a girl is simply the heroine of an otome game and enjoys her position in the story, and then there are stories where the villainess is the main character and the heroine is a side character or worse, a villain. (I love both types.) In here, the heroine is aware of both otome games and villainess novels, which is differrent. It's short, but though it just feels like the heroine and the villainess switched positions in this story, it's still interesting to see a different type... more>> of setting. <<less

Absolutely ADORABLE (very sorry for the caps lock)

It was short and sweet. If I could describe it in taste, it tasted like melon flavored cotton candy!

It was cliche in a very good way. I sooo want to read it as a series but bejnv aoneshot is also enough to satisfy me. It was simply good! I totally recommend you guys to give it a read~☆

It's a cute story with no face slapping, just a cute buddy buddy story. The MC is reincarnated as the heroine an poor earl daughter who work in a bakery in a villainess noble game, reincarnated in an otome game type of novel. Firstly she stalk the villainess to know if she's reincarnated in the otome game or the novel (it's the novel the villainess is cute and love Her fiancée who love Her as well) . Her relationship with ML is cute and reliatable (I call them the stalker... more>> couple, they are both cute and funny) (but a little too much of coïncidence) the probleme is that this have too much repetition of MC poverty problem, we know Her background of both life already to repeat it at every line is irritating and useless) . It's short and a good read I love it. <<less

It's a fluff piece.

If you want a soft, light hearted and quick read. Then this does the job. It's not super memorable, but it's not something I regret reading.

The translation quality is quite good and it can be read in a short amount of time.

Wah, what a cute and fluffy story. I didn't really expect it when I first started reading it. It's kind of a typical japanese reincarnated villainess story, cept with a twist.

I recommend you read it, specially since it isn't too long, and does have a good ending.

A pretty cute story to read to pass your idle time.

Well the although the story is quite the cliche otome game genre, it will still pique your curiosity since it's pretty easy to read and well as you read it you'll just suddenly found out that you've already finished this oneshot.

It's a story about a really cautious reincarnated Heroine.

The MC way of thinking is pretty interesting, and kinda of new in these types of Novels.

Spoiler
  • First because 'Villainess Noble Girls' get reincarnate more frequently than the Heroines.
  • Second; I never read a novel where the MC is unsure of her exact role in story and tries to find out if the Villainess became a good person or not.
    [collapse]
That being said, MC's poverty situation keeps being mentioned not only when she is talking about her life with someone, but also when she is thinking. We know it already... there's no need to repeat it again and again.

It isn't a big deal, but kinda pissed me off when I was reading.

Overall, it's a good read, so give it a try =) <<less

It's a one-shot so I doubt my rating/review will be updated or changed. If you want to try reading it for yourself before reading the reviews then please do so.

Spoiler

This points out something that I (and many other readers) realize is yet another reoccurring cliche in all these Villainess sub-genre; the existence of the Heroine and how she's often made to be an antagonist.

[collapse]
and I doubt I'd remember her name within a week. The main love interest is nice, and though I like his type, he wasn't particularly different than his contemporaries. Nothing is fully explored, as expected of a one-shot, but the background is adequately described to allow readers to have a vision of the setting. The translator is a veteran at what they do and I personally found it to be an easy read.

I prefer death, plot & politics, and a in-depth lore so know that my rating comes from my personal preferences. This isn't spellbinding, and it isn't revolutionary to this otome-game genre, but it does offer up some new ideas so if you like this genre then do try it. <<less

This is a story of a heroine of an otome game worried that she's actually the villain and the main character is actually the villainess (hence the title).

Personally, I don't think this should have the villainess noble girls tag but it is what it is.

I feel like because MC kept shoving how poor they are despite being earl (would have love it had they explain why they were exactly poor despite having such high status), I wasn't that hook up. It feels bland for my taste so just skimmed it... more>> to the end, which seems a bit forceful. <<less

Well, the plot is slightly different from other otome game novel genre but unfortunately, it's badly executed. I don't think it's because this is merely a oneshot since I've read a few interesting oneshot before.

1st flaw: MC's easy acceptance of her transmigration. It's good to be coolheaded during the whole transmigration fiasco but become too accepting is unrealistic and she even declared her love towards her current family since day 1.

2nd flaw: ML's love towards MC. If my analysis is correct, according to the timeline that ML mentioned, the one... more>> that ML loved was supposed to be the original MC, not the transmigrator MC. It's upsetting me because the current MC just reaped the fruit without doing much, all thanks to the original MC.

3rd flaw: the ridiculous reason of Levier's magic overflow. If the reason of her magic overflow was tiredness then doesn't that mean that other student could experience that too? School life is tiring afterall.

4th flaw: why must ML be the one who could heal MC? He's still a student like MC and the academy must have an extraordinary healer. Unless, that's all ML's tactic to be with MC all the time. <<less

Good FL and ML chemistry, little intensity on the struggles or drama. Since majority are her dialogue or monologs about the what ifs or should have beens, the drama or intensitys, I mean. So making you anticipate about the scenarios feel lack luster.

Thanks for the translation!
