if you read red river or anatolia story before, this story is set in the same period. I will not spoil anything but just want to say that this is the best history time travel love/tragedy novel i've ever read, and there are 3 books in total. If you finished reading it on youtube that was just its 1st book. 2nd and 3rd book set out in completely different plots so it won't drag on or make you bored.

even though it about time travel but the writer laid down plot... more>> neatly, clean and easy to understand. Their love are so strong, but nothing comes easy for MC to grab. Even though it's about time travel but also mixed with past life belief. It makes me think of the book called "only love is real".

I remembered I came accross this novel 1 week before my job interview, I can't stop reading, I cried most of the time on book 2 and 3 and finished a day before interview. Luckily I also got that job otherwise I got another story to tell you guy LOL

if you have time check out the novel version.

sorry for my poor english. <<less

It's a pretty okay manga, very pretty art but sadly it suffers from bad translations or poorly done typesettings. I admire anyone being able to translate chinese but c'mon, you can do better.

Now, to list the positive points of this manhua:

    • Pretty art: I have read other webtoons and usually it's either very good or very bad, I haven't found something in-between. This manhua has a very nice, colorful art style, the guys sometimes look like each other's clones and it's refreshing to see a pretty protagonist whose beauty is acknowledged by the story. Character designs are good and detailed, but sadly (much like 90% of this manha) it's historically inaccurate. I really doubt that men would stroll around the heat of egypt with long flowing hair, specially in a place where lice was such an issue that both women and men shaved their heads to avoid it altogether. However, just this time I will let that slip, as I doubt a bald Sese would be appealing to the target audience.
    • Another strong point was the Male lead, Sese. He's very cunning and smart. I swear I was more interested in watching him trying to scheme something to catch the MC than the actual romance. Also, he's a yandere, but a more curious case in that he is very possessive and overbearing, but because he's in a position of power, he uses that to his full advantage rather than do anything violent or crazy himself. He's definitely obsessed with MC, but rarely does anything outrageous himself as he prefers to order his guards to dismember any men that gets too close to her.
    • Side characters are pretty good too! But this goes only for the male cast, I don't know why but the few female characters aside from the MC are not very explored and they kind of feel flat (will talk about this below)
Now for the bad points

    • This story is like a bizarro version of ancient egypt, and it gets many facts just plain wrong. Now, this is clearly fantasy because MC is transported to ancient egypt via some kind of time traveling magic, so there's already some space for nonsense here. But how can you write a story taking place in real world ancient egypt, with real historical characters and not get basic things right! I could make a list with all the historical inaccuracies, but here's the most glaring ones: Ramses II had an older sister, Tia, not an elder brother. He had another younger sister and a younger brother. Ancient Egyptian society wasn't all that misogynistic; women were allowed to own and manage lands, trade, and even become scribes and physicians. Misogynist egypt is more of a modern thing after the Muslim conquest, but women weren't all that powerless back in Ramses' era. And lastly, I'm pretty sure the war with the hittites ended up in one of the oldest peace treaties in the world, not their defeat, this was mostly ramses giving himself good publicity. And I'm no egyptologist, I just read wikipedia for this shit. Can't see why the author couldn't do the same.
    • The MC has to go back and forth between the two worlds, lie and keep secrets from everyone, at some point even betrays Sese (for a good reason, but is still betrayal), and never faces any real consequences for her actions. At two different points in the story, the pharaoh orders any woman that looks like the MC to be executed, and in neither case the MC has to deal with this, because every time she screws up, she's instantly forgiven. No matter how badly she f*cks up, all characters either forgive her or don't even question her. And for someone that in the beginning of the story admits that wasn't all knowledgeable of egypt (specially ramses II), she has instant knowledge of everything related to Egypt. I wouldn't really call her a mary sue, in fact I appreciate a smart protagonist, but a story where the MC can get away with everything doesn't feel very rewarding.
    • Any female character that isn't he MC is very flat and boring. And we have interesting characters like the hittite princess and Sese's little sister, but both their stories feel so anticlimactic that you can easily forget about them.
    • The art sometimes fall into very old cliche tropes. Most of the male villains are either fat ugly old men, and then there's the issue of colorism. The main reason the MC is admired is because she's blonde and has blue eyes, some characters like the hittite princess are also described as beautiful for their pale skin, and most attractive characters have very light skin tones, even though they're under the saharan sun. There is an special focus on skin tones and eye/hair color here and it's uncomfortable.
    • The MC is kinda boring. Her main points of focus is that she's smart, and pretty (100% because of the blonde hair + blue eyes combo), but other than that she doesn't have much going on. She simply turns dumb around Sese at times, and ironically feels like she has more personality when interacting with other characters. Her whole shtick becomes repetitive later (feeling guilty because she's changing history and/or worrying about sese), and is kind of an hypocrite at times. For example, saying that two sisters being married to the Pharaoh's and the Pharaoh's son is gross because of in*est, however she herself is crushing over her older brother. Also has the same "conflicted/worried" expression through 90% of the story.
    • Lastly, this is a story where Ramses II, one of the male historical figures with most children in the world, becomes obsessed with a foreign woman and drops every other woman in her favour. Just knowing that the real ramses II had more than 100 children makes me very skeptical about this. I would be much less hard on this story if it was some kind of alternate reality egypt, but nope.
Overall is a good manga, if you're willing to accept all the inaccuracies. Give it a read if you're into yandere.

I never write a review for novels.

The reason for do it now is simple: ask the people who gave 1 stars what goes through their heads? This doesn't deserve the rates it received. Any general rate below 4.5 doesn't make sense!

This is one of the best novels I've ever read. I've read Book 1 (it's 3 books, if I'm not mistaken...) with help from google translator, and the story is very good, extremely well written, original. Maybe these people want a crap novel...

I like the story. I've been reading this novel for a long time until volume 2, although until now I haven't had the desire to continue reading volume 3, because I'm not ready for the upcoming conflict T.T. The novel is not boring at all because each volume has a different problem focus, but more or less related. It's just that I'm a sweet romanticist, it's quite a pity that the main couple in this novel don't have much sweet interaction. But still, it's highly recommended.

This is the first time that I ever comment about manhua that I read.

This is really masterpiece manhua. Everything is perfect. The plot, character, art and the emotions throught out the reading is totally insane. Even the historical facts that author shown made me love egypt more. Also, I cried so much because of the longing and tragic love that shown in the manhua.

After I finished read this manhua, I found out this manhua have total of 3 books. Thus I read all 3 books in wattpad even the translation... more>> is a bit messy.

A little spoiler about the 2 books (continuation of this manhua)

Book 2:
The person that resemble sese in the last chapter in this manhua is not sese and he just the 100 descendants of sese also he is the prince of monaco. He does not have any collection of memories about ivy at all. *This really made me sad I thought they can be together in modern life* However, tissi yidi whish is the gardener in morriet family (ivy family) gave ivy the liquid of eye of horus and ivy back to egypt but she's in the differend body which is the most hated person by ramses which is princess ivy (ramses sister) that have different colour of hair and eye (gray hair and walnut eye). Againt sese does not know that soul of ivy is in his sister body. In this book the timeline is different because of ivy death in book 1 so ramses married the real queen of nefertari. However, ramses did dream about the blond hair and blue eye of nefertari. *From here you need to read the book because of many events that really interesting but I can tell the ending of this book*. Finally, remses found out that his sister is actually the real ivy but its too late because princess ivy died in the story. Princess ivy dies because she want to save sese from rama (Rama kidnapped her). Basically, ramses fault because he use his own sister to attack rama. Damn.

The plot is really beautiful and made you frustrated and sad. The longing feelings and she have to live in different body that not even person recognize her. Ivy have to watch sese with the other queen and hundred of concubine together. Also, the moment that sese found out his dead sister is the blond hair and blue eye nefertari at the end of story is reallyyyyy sadd. So I really recommend to read the book 2 in watpadd. Its really worth and made you cry.

In book 3 is continuation of book 2 which eventhough princess ivy dead in the story, the real ivy is still alive in future.

Book 3
Ivy felt thankful and relieved because ramses still alive eventhough ivy cant obtain his love. She grateful that history not changed because of her. So, ivy live her life in london with her family happily. This book introduce new character named winter which is princess ivy guard in book 2. Ivy met winter in london but he called himself as baron tiya. However, at last ivy found out that baron tiya is the real winter. Winter have the eye of the horus and they travelled back to the egypt. In this book ivy is in her own body that have blond hair and blue eye. In this book ramses found ivy (nefertari) and made her to live in the palace. Even ramses does not fully remember her but because of his dream he felt he want to keep ivy by his side. Ramses introduce to the citizens of thebes that nefertari is the reincarnation of princess ivy that have died in book 2. In this book shows the love and affectionate feeling of ramses towards blond hair nefertari. But ivy felt they not have that kind of relationship anymore and ivy does not want to change the history because ot the black hair nefertari already marry to ramses and have a daughter. In this book shows more complicated plot and shows the battle of kardishian between egypt and hattite (battle in book 1 which ramses died). Thus, ivy does not want ramses died again so her purpose mainly to the life of ramses. Because of this purpose ivy reject affectionate feelings from ramses and shows the dominant character of ramses because ramses want to keep ivy by his side. This plot made you feels mad at ivy and pity to ramses. A lot of things happened in book 3 as this book focus on the eye of the horus that ivy searched because she want to go back to the future. Ivy also try to run from ramses and at this time ramses finally remmber all about blond hair and blue eye nefertari because of the pieves of eye of the horus that ivy kept. And last at the battle between egypt and hattite, ivy sacrifice herself and push yali (resembles ai xian) and they jumped towards the nile river because she want to stop the battle and save thousand of egypt army. Then after this tragedy, ramses made all of his servants looking for ivy but no one can find her. After this events, shows the depressed ramses for 10 years without ivy. He always go to the nile river like a mad person and made 100 of paper boat with lights towards the river. The ending of this book and conclude all prequels of the story is after 10 years ivy come back to ramses and weirdly ivy does not age at all (ivy found the eye of horus and this plot is quite complicated because it connected to winter). So, ramses did marry ivy and made ivy as the great queen of pharaoh (greater than queen nefertari) and called her as Isis-Neft. They married only for 10 years because ivy have a heart disease. However, they have 3 children. The first prince is the heir of the throne, second son is the priest in karnak temple and 4 yeard old princess. The moment that ivy died made ramses totally in grief. Ivy dead when ramses at the age of 50 yeard old. Damn im crying really hard when this scene happen and the author shows the last conversation between ramses to the dead ivy beyond sad.

In book 3 shows the most interesting events that conclude the story. The mixed feelings between happy, sad, pity, mad made me as reader felt the author really made a great job in making this prequels. The tragedy in all books different from the other manhua/manga which focus to the romance of the protaganists of the story. In book 3, many events that I cant describe through words. For the fans of Pharaoh's Concubine, I recommend to read all the books of this masterpiece story in watpadd. However, the translation is quite disappointed but can be understood. To the dear author I hope all of this books can be adopted in manhua. I really want to see the art in book 2 and book 3 even I already read it.

Too early to tell, but the summary gives me a sense of similarity to one of my favorite historical manga called "Ouke no Monshou" (Daughter of The Nile). We'll find out as the story goes.

I read all three novels and honestly, it goes on the list of my favorite and most memorable novels of all time. The story is so well written, both the sweeter times and the heart-wrenching times. My heart felt for all of the characters and their sufferings.

I have read all three volumes and I have cried over various parts especially the ending. This is a really good book, one of the top five or three or maybe my most favorite right now. I really loved the romance between Ivy and Rameses II. He is just so devoted to Ivy. I just wished they could have spent more together before Ivy died.

It's really a good novel. I highly recommend it. People think they can make some link to ouke no monshou but don't coz it's a hundred time better. Love isn't the only topic. There are politics, betrayal, travelling... characters aren't one dimensional, each has their thought, goal, personality. There isn't the bad mother in law, the b*tchy step sister,... As it is set in ancient egypt, it's actually really refreshing to change from the ancient china type of novel. But careful ... more>>
