Storyline is alright but translation went a bit haywire after c.20 with c.85 missing. Would need to refer mtl version to guess what happened.

This novel was quite good in setting up palace drama without making everyone look evil and scheming. A lot of the background characters were good people that the main leads could trust.

She is kind to people who deserves kindness and ignores and disdains those who are evil. She also started off as a very innocent and pure bunny who didn't know anything about men and women affairs but because of the ML emperor, she gradually became more daring of those things *///*

The ML is the emperor and of course he did have a harem and he already has one son, which is a cute bun named Ruyi born from his deceased empress. Since the ML was no longer pure and already had a wife (though dead) and a son, I was a bit worried that I wouldn't end up liking him for the FL, but my worries were unwarranted. His feelings for the FL was not love at first sight. He just thought that the eunuch was loyal to his deceased master and he would often be amused and annoyed at the eunuch FL. It did comfort me a little that when he started having feelings for the FL, he didn't do yingying yanyan with other women. It was also adorable how he beat himself up in confusion when he refused to admit his feelings for FL since he didn't want to admit he was broken sleeves (gay)

Once he did recognize his feelings, he was like a beast let out of his cage and directly expressed his love for the FL. I also liked how he really never forced her to do anything since he wanted her heart the most. He was so considerate to her it makes me soft uwu

Now, I'd like to talk about the second male lead. I usually would have second male lead syndrome in most stories but in this novel, he annoyed me to death.

His name is Ji Zheng, the half-brother of the ML. Like usual second male leads, he was a gentle older brother type of guy. However, he was persistent in his love for the FL even when he was already rejected several times. He kissed her while she was drunk and even kidnapped her to 'get her out of the palace'. He kept on deluding himself that the ML forced the FL to be with him, and thought that he would make sure that even if he wasn't the FL's first man, he would be her last. Even though he was rejected outright by the FL, he still tried to frame the ML, hoping that the FL would hate the ML and turn to him lol. Anyway, his love was quite selfish and forceful and I only felt better about him when he finally gave up after FL resolutely told him she wouldn't like him even if she met him first.

Overall, it's pretty good~ It's not to overly dramatic on palace drama and politics since everything gets resolved fast (ML is a protective hubby and won't let FL suffer grievances). Also, the smut scenes were quite good but weren't excessive.

I just do hope FL met her lost younger brother in the end :< tho he was shown in the fanwai it wasn't stated that they met

Had to drop the story. It was fun and quirky but I got bored throughout the chapters. Still a 5* though since I enjoyed it while it lasted.

This story funny and really heart-warming! Really recommend it!

Usually, there is scheme which is cruel in the royal palace. But this novel is really into scheming but its really funny rofl

Really good gender-blender novel!! I love the MC's interaction with ML's kid, too cute!! This novel is also funny cause the MC is awesome with her thought process!!

I actually loved the first few chapters especially laughing at antics of FL (Tian Qi) who was street-smart and got shameless/sweet-mouth that she can escaped troubles using her smooth talking LMAO.

For ML (Ji Heng), he was the typical Emperor with imperal harem and kid already. Actually, he got his own failure as ML but he was also not as jerk as others. I like his smartness and having eagle eyes that he can't easily fool by other's schemes.

I rated this lower than expected bc the second half's plot kinda messed... more>> up (maybe bc of the translations which were hit or miss in some chapters).

Also, I felt that mentality/intelligence of most characters declined... and frustrations regarding the leads' lack of communication by hiding their worries and secrets to each other.

Additionally, the revenge which FL's supposedly planned for years was "anti-climatic" and rushed while poor execution of "plot twist". The worst thing was I felt that the story was not properly put on closure with the questions regarding FL's brother. <<less

MC was sometimes portrayed as a naive and inncocent girl but on the other side, she was also capable of scheming. Wasn't it a bit contradictory? I don't know, maybe she was just clueless about a relationship between man and woman but not on other matters. But it's also a bit unbelievable because she served 3 different concubines before so how could she was still clueless about that matter?

Also since serving ML, she kept making trouble every few days. It's quite funny in the beginning but later she became more daring with her misconduct and even implicated ML. I really wanna scold her because of that.

Initially, I was moved by ML because he didn't want to force MC to do anything that she didn't like but soon after he declared that, he forced MC to give him a bl*wj*b almost every night. After he knew that she was a girl, he bedded her almost instantly.

I know that MC already gave her consent but I still felt terrible because at that time, MC actually had no idea what it meant to sleep with a man. She just did it because ML begged her. ML also didn't bother to explain to her about it and also didn't bother to give her status first before taking her first time.

Later after it revealed that his father was the culprit of MC parent's death, ML was so afraid that MC will leave him so he kept it a secret but of course MC knew it in the end. MC wanted to leave him because she couldn't have a heart to marry the son of her parent's mu*derer. ML instantly faked an illness, forcing MC to stay by his side. You could guess it, in the end MC didn't leave. Ugh, I'm so angry because of it. It will be better if ML gave her some times first. I'm certain sooner or later, MC will be back again because she also loved him so much. But ML chose to force her to stay. It made me dislike him more.

Thankfully, 2nd ML wasn't some gentle and considerate man that could make me have a 2nd ML syndrome. He was a good friend in the beginning but after he failed to get MC, he became a bit twisted. He forcefully abducted her when she was out of the palace. He also kissed her without her consent. Later, he drove a wedge between her and ML using her parent's death. Yes he was a bit pitiful but still I hate his way of conduct just so he could possess MC.

A roller coaster ride! I bing read this novel and I must say the whole novel was well planned and executed.

Each of the characters had development, which is a must noteworthy point. No character is black and white, they're as human as possible. The emperor isn't a pure ML, nor is the MC super OP on grace and elegance. They play out their roles exactly how they should. The struggle of the emperor with his sexuality is real, the empress dowager's reluctance to accept a woman who was known as... more>> a man and was her son's lover- that was real too. Ruyi was perfect for his age, a few novels have children who are 2 but talks like 7. Ruyi was thankfully not like that.

Wang Meng and Ding also left their marks in my mind for their caring nature towards MC.

The only place I stopped short of dissatisfaction is the latest extra, I wish the siblings had net each other. But then again, a meeting like that would be too coincidental. This is good. <<less

Dont trust the summary/ introduction above. It is really bad anyways. This is actually an amazingly well written plot (I appreciate thought being put into character motivation and conflict. Makes it better)

Ok other than the bad grammar and randomly inserted machine translation, the actual story was good.

As for the confusing extra, it's because the brother's closure is in another novel. You would need to read 'Fix Smile Order', which shares the same timeline of this story. Everything is explained there.

I actually like the other story more, its a little more smooth sailing u can say. Oh and no smut there which I like, its more of a romcom

So this book I would say is just ok, I wouldn't say its bad but at the same time I wouldn't say its good.

This might be more personal bias but I find chinese novels heavy with old chinese and translators who don't get rid of it to be very confusing. I can understand the gists of whats going on but with how its phrased its hard to fully understand whats going on. I understand that x major event happened but since its written in this manor the details on why... more>> x major event happened are blurry and not as clear as novels not written in this manor.

The entire way their relationship developed has issues in modern day morals, but thats a common issue with chinese novels so thats not really anything new. There relationship was basically the emperor forcing himself on her and then her eventually falling in love with him that still is ambiguous on why. The suspenseful moments felt executed poorly and (this might be due to me having issues with understanding translation) had unclear endings. For example

In the end where the brother tried to break the two apart it was never really clear what happened to him afterward, although at this point in the story I was tired of it and was just finishing it up since I was almost done

Overall its not a bad book but its not something that I would have the desire to re-read. It doesn't have anything that really makes me love the series, but at the same time there's nothing bad enough about it that I would say its a bad book. <<less

This is the first CN novel I ever read. The manhua is pretty good, but it ended on a cliffhanger. Since then, I have read countless novels, but this remains one of the most memorable and humorous. It has just the right amount of smut but not so much that it overshadows the plot.

I enjoyed watching the progression of the emperor as he wrestled with his "homosexuality." He's a morally ambiguous character, by today's standards, and probably the most multifaceted in the novel.

The translations were fine. It's just English is... more>> not his or her native language. Don't expect perfect English-- especially when you're getting it for free. It's a lot better than MTL. <<less

A really enjoyable read. Binged it for a day and a half. Worth it. It was funny where it was supposed to be funny, and the romance was nice. The ML seemed quite out of character at the end, but he's a guy blinded by love so we can forgive that. This is a novel that doesn't take itself too seriously (even the harem intrigues aren't too convoluted). The things that would be a big deal in other novels would be glossed over in this one, and that's perfectly fine.... more>> Just read it as a funny smutty romantic novel coincidentally set in ancient times. You won't be disappointed. <<less

It's okay as a comedy but the FL's naivety really puts me off. Not mentioning all those dumb mistakes she can make despite having worked in the palace for years, let's just imagine: you get harassed, have your face and neck touched for example, but because that person says "No this is normal, it's not weird" etc so you be like "Oh ok" and let it slide. That's how she is. The author keeps giving excuses like she's thinking abt something else, she's not educated abt these stuffs... which doesn't... more>> convince me at all, so I did myself a favor and dropped it. <<less

I can't stop laughing this is so funny and cute tho the translation in some chapter are quite confusing but you'll somehow understand it still so just give this a try u won't be dissapointed. The funny things start showing after some chapters
