The night before we obtained our marriage certificate, I asked him, “When did you start to develop feelings for me?”

He answered, “I don’t remember.”

“But, why me?”

“Why not you?”

“I’m very petty, and I get jealous very easily.”

“So am I.”

“I’m afraid I’m not worthy of you.”

“So am I.”

“I haven’t really dated, so I don’t know what love is.”

“I don’t know either.”

He held my hand gently, “But I know this. When I think about spending the rest of my life with you, I feel that my future is filled with hope.”

At 16, we used the same class desk, with less than 10cm between our arms. My peripheral vision was full of him.

At 26, I woke up in the morning, and saw the sunlight softly shining on his face. I thought, this is how I want to grow old – gradually, together, with him.

I guess this must be love.

Just finished reading this again. I find that this book is very suitable to read when you just want to feel optimistic or that warm fuzzy feeling. Joey as a character is very inspiring as she perceives the world and her relationships with a very lighthearted attitude and is a very empathetic person. There are some funny as well as sad moments and I loved the glimpse of Mr F's pov in the end.

Just read it and you won't regret.

This story is an absolute masterpiece.

This is the first novel that truly altered my way of thinking. Usually, in most novels we read, the leads sacrifice everything for the people they love - their marriage is close to perfect. The man always buys his wife gifts and showers her with love; he cancels meetings to spend days with her and takes her on vacation anytime she wants. The wife in return cooks him delicious meals, dresses up for him, and always knows his thoughts (in a romantic way of course).... more>> However, this book speaks about the most important part of marriage and that is the understanding between the two parties. They might know everything about each other, but they're willing to find out, no matter how much time it takes. They influence each other in all the best ways. Joey evolved as a person because she grew more confident around Mr. F and Mr. F grew more gentle and patient because of the kindness Joey shows in her daily life. Their marriage has its ups and downs of course, but they TRY and they always, always TRY. They never give up on each other. They wear sweats and laze around in bed and argue and have cold wars and hug in the rain and have outbursts of love and spill drunken thoughts to each other - and that's what love is: the ability to be with someone and grow along with them.

Many people don't like the anecdotal style of the book, but I find that the little scenes that the author writes for us to showcase the tidbits of her life are so personal, refreshing, and poignant that the reader can't help but feel touched. No marriage is perfect, but this book has shown me what a worthy marriage is. I do not have enough words to describe how much I fell in love with this story. Just read it. <<less

This story is really heartwarming and enlightening for me personally.

Love is definitely not easy because there are many hardships along the way that can stump the progress of the relationship. True love is developed only when one perseveres and finds happiness during difficult times. I feel like the story thoroughly demonstrated this fact in a simple recollection of a couple’s life.

There are many deep messages in the story that spark some thinking. I also laughed out loud multiple times while reading this. Truly a comedic, yet tear-jerking and emotional story.

Someone who could write this is genuinely a beautiful person who sees beauty even in the most bitter moments in life. Thanks for sharing a small portion your love story... here's hoping we find our Mr. F's

Certainly this would make the even in a summer movie premiere, this is a beyond brilliant story that shares the emotions of what's it's like to fall and stay in love. Perhaps I could say this one of the best romance stories ever written, and I wouldn't be going too far.

Perhaps my favorite piece of literature I have ever read. I Don't Like The World, I Only Like You is medicine for the soul and a furnace for heart. It is a romance without any of the angsty, unnecessary drama that makes us irritated beyond belief and a comedy that never fails to make laugh in all the right ways. Despite being one of the lightest series I have ever read, it is at times surprisingly heavy with all of the ways it makes you think about what love and... more>> life really is about and what they mean to us. In the end, I Don't LIke The World, I Only Like You is something that not only I like, but something the whole world would like if everyone had the chance to read this treasure. <<less

A fantastic book, and a rare one because it's an autobiography not a fantasy! It's a realistic but equally enjoyable look into the author and her husband's relationship (although a bit romanticized as both the husband and author point out, they only focus on the good mostly). Interspersed throughout the story is different points and story of the author's life, for example her mom's efforts to raise her two kids, her surgery, her friends, I especially loved the story about little C!

There's not much to comment on because of the... more>> fact that it's an autobiography (tho glorified a tad), and it's a very sweet story. I'm not the type built for romance, but this story makes me want to fall in love. <<less

Overall Score: 43/45 - 96%

Hook Score: 4/5
It's short, effective and unique. Development Score: 5/5
Since it's slice of life, you never know for sure what's going to happen.

Story Score: 5/5
It's very sweet. It's one of those stories where you go "d'aaaw" often. It will melt your heart.

... more>> Style Score: 5/5
The style of the novel is quite unique and refreshing.

Grammar Score: 5/5
Good grammar overall. Originality Score: 5/5
It keeps surprising again and again. Description Score: 4.5/5
Vivid descriptions that help imagine the events. Like an anecdote told by a close friend. It lacks direction, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Main Character Score: 5/5
A colorful character that you can't help but like despite the many shortcomings.

Side Characters Score: 4.5/5
Since they were also based on real life people, they are realistic. The author portrays her links with them in an "easy to guess/understand" way. They're not shown enough though. Antagonists Score: invalid/5
No antagonist in this story.

Strength: One of the sweetest novels I've ever read. Weakness: It's a short read. There's not much chapters and the novel is already complete.

One of a kind

Pros :

Supposedly from a real story. The author also made it in a diary format.

The relationship between MC and ML is very realistic. Kinda reminds me of my parents tbh. They are not the overly romantic type but just a glance and you know how much they care for each other.

The drama adaptation. The drama is faithful to the book and the MC and ML in the drama got married in rl. They even had a bby girl.

Cons :

The bar is high for my own ML.

This was so beautiful. It is a sweet slice of life novel. The fact that it is autobiographical just makes it sweeter. The story is basically little snippets of the author's life strung together. Her words are simple, but they convey emotion in a straightforward manner that makes her really easy to relate to. When you read her words, it feels like you are listening to a close friend reminiscing.

The story is very realistic and very well written. Without a doubt, 5 out of 5 (if I could, I would give millions stars out of 5).

Usually, I prefer to read somethings to escape reality like fantasy kind-of novel. This novel steer me back to reality and still make me love it. It is funny and unexpectedly tear-jerking at certain situations. To sum up,

Story: realistic, well rounded glimpse of the main characters' life (abit of back in school and current working life)

Romance: no unnecessary drama (no cliche to... more>> begin with). What I appreciate the most is it does not plan unrealistic idea of romance to the reader. Love in reality is not about the cold CEO who would chase and spoil you to death nor delivering dozen of roses on special event. Love in reality is so much more about the little moments that you spend with each other. If we are lucky enough, we will find an equal partner just like the main character to accompany each other for the rest of our lives.

Length: short but concise.

Re-read-ability: 100% yes. I keep rereading this and it never gets old. The sentiment this story bring you on a wonderful carpet ride.

Satisfaction: more than I ever ask for. Diamond in the rough. <<less

So many people have praised this but I just have to add my two cents too hehe

Nothing brilliant or mind blowing but a simple masterpiece. Everyone needs this heartwarming piece in their life!

Story is in an atypical format, sort of like a diary where the author recounts her past experiences. It's a very down-to-earth story; the author is a simple, average person who has ups and downs in life and relationships.

Her relationship with her husband is beautifully and realistically portrayed, it's really very heartwarming and tear-jerking. Through their many years... more>> together, they face small conflicts, life gets in the way etc., but they get past all the hardships together.

TMI? I'm really in awe of the leads' relationship. Life sucks, but it's bearable when you have someone to lean on, or hear even the simplest affirmations from. <<less

It was a new experience with this writing style. Sounds like a summary of the life of a certain someone. It was hilarious and so fluffy. Some very very original instances that I enjoyed thoroughly. In the middle I started reading it as reading a book of jokes (that can only be enjoyed when you know the previous joke).

There were many missing details but I got used to them in due time xD

I will recommend it to everyone who wants to take a break from heavy, dark, action and thriller... more>> stories. <<less

Heartwarming! I love this novel because it's about committing and choosing to love your partner every day. Not every day can be a grand romance.

Spoiler

The story is about the past and present. I love it because this is after the happy ending (marriage). We got to see the daily life of a married couple. Even after marriage, the sweetness can and should still remain.

I remember I have binged read this on my way to my university one day. It was 4 years ago and I could not forget this novel. I happen to watch the drama adaptation of this novel so I was able to reread this. <<less

It’s cute. It’s adorable. It’s autobiographical

Its very short, but that only adds to its charm. It is written as short journal entries which jump around, it isn’t in chronological order

The translator is excellent and the illustrations are perfect. I did have an issue with the Novel Update link to Chapter 10.2, but I googled it and found it

I have not seen the drama and I don’t think I will, I like the novel too much and I don’t want to be disappointed

highly recommended

I got the interest to read this after watching LCDF drama since in the synopsis it is based on this novel and to my surprise both the novel and the drama exceeded my expectations. They both have their own colors. After binge reading I felt so jealous with Joey because she really found the right one and I got a crush on Mr. F because he really loved Joey for waiting for him all throughout of their lives.

The novel is autobiographical kind so the scenes are really refreshing. I love... more>> how they interacted with each other without feeling the inferior from other half. I read this thrice already.

What can I say this is truly a MASTERPIECE. Highly recommended. <<less

This is one of one of the sweetest stories of a couple Ive ever read. Additionally, it feels satisfying that unlike most childhood to adulthood love stories neither of these characters grows up to be a typical better than everyone around them cardboard OP cut out of what people think makes a successful life. Its just a very compelling and sweet story of two normal people looking back on how they grew towards each other and their life together. I read this after watching the drama and I enjoyed both... more>> a great deal. The book is more grounded. :) <<less

I was awoken early this morning cause of my sibling's noise and then I remember this story, specifically the part where Mr. F was tip toeing around the room, in the dark early morning just to avoid waking up joey. And I realized that I want that kind of love too- hahahahaha

I rlly love this story, it brought a "desiderium" feeling to me. This story kinda raise and at the same time humble my standard hahahaha.

This would definitely be my favourite romance/slice of life novels of all time. I read the untranslated Chinese novel, so no comment on the translation quality, but it really is heart-warming.

Not only romance, even the sibling love, friendship, all these little parts of the author's life really made the story heartwarming and moving. I don't know how to express it in words but I love them. The author learned how to be more confident, the characters changed instead of staying the same throughout the times, and everything in this story... more>> was perfect.

Perhaps Im biased on this since I've seen too much drama novels, but this is a really pure slice of life. I really wanted to cry while reading this. There's not much drama, but it doesn't make this novel boring. There are fights, teasing, but it's not exaggerated or annoying to read. There is just a perfect amount of comedy and sad or moving moments to balance out the story to make it a fluffy and moving romance slice of life instead of a serious story of the author's life. I suck at expressing myself but this, you should definitely read it. I learnt a lot from this, not "how to date someone", or "ways to fool someone into dating you", just generally how nice sometimes love and friendship can be.

Please consider reading this. <<less

I don't have anything else to say as the other reviews have proven it right. This is definitely something to read when you want something more real and heart-warming. Clearly it was mostly the fun and loving parts that was told but Joey and Mr. F admitted that there were also sad and unfortunate days. I love the story all in all and yes this would be something to I'd love to read over and over again.

Kudos to the translator for the great quality!
