The description for this novel confused me a bit, but it got me interested in the story. ^0^ Basically, more than half of the world's population live their lives in VR.

MC, a Demon race archer/bard, is cute but is prettier in real life... cause he chose to be less pretty in the game. He learns a bunch of special skills and saves the ML, an Angel race assassin, who was lost and hungry in the forest.

So like... Maybe if it was 2 years ago, I would have read this without batting an eyelid. I wasn't really picky with my BL before but after reading tons of good BL, when I read this one, well, I can say it's not really written uh... good?

MC is too hella lucky. Like nonsensical luck. UwU.

Romance between MC and ML is too fast. They just kinda meet and suddenly feel they like each other.

I feel the characterization is not too consistent. Like the description would say this character is cold... more>> however, I feel it was the opposite instead.

Anyways, I don't feel like finishing this. Might come back to it when I run out of better BLs. <<less

The translation is really difficult to read (and some stuff are totally mixed up), so it's very difficult to get immersed into the story.

I absolutely adore playing MMORPGs so story about MMOs attract me a lot.

However, this one is frankly... boring.

... more>> There's no legit worldbuilding, the backstory is very VERY generic MMORPG (and not even current/modern MMOs, it's based on MMO concepts from like 20 years ago) with nothing that sets it apart from others.

The storyline/setup also makes zero sense because the majority of final battles/storyline battles are won without fighting (the main team NEVER loses or dies and instead they get crazy powerups every big battle, which is the best way for game developers to lose money and close down the game). There's absolutely no sense of actual game balancing (and no concept of actually working hard in-game for something).

Spoiler

Legit, at one point, everyone in the team & guild gets +10 levels from some random boss? Even though they're already 10x OP than 99% of the gaming population?

[collapse]

Now that wouldn't be a big deal if the romance was interesting, or if the MMO parts took a backstory to the romance. Unfortunately, that's not the case either. There's no tension or questioning, the MC and ML fall for each other after a short time partnering up to beat a dungeon together. During that short time, the author could have described how they became good partners, some of their conversations... Nope. All that progression is glossed over with 1-2 sentences and how attractive (physically) they are and--ding! Confession and relationship.

After they get together, the focus is still primarily on the game dungeons and random NPC/side-character pairings. There's literally no description of how anything works (like how their mercenary group doesn't count as a guild and they don't have a guild base, but suddenly they can co-own a guild town with other guilds??) and it's pretty much just a summary of other much much better gaming novels.

TLDR;

Read [King's Avatar], read [God Level Summoner] read anything else for your (BL) MMO needs. Read [Antelope and Night Wolf], read [You Boys Play Games Very Well], read [After Brushing Face at the Apocalypse Boss for 363 Days] if you like more BL with your gaming.

Skip this. BRB while I go cleanse my brain with [You Boys Play Games Very Well]. <<less

Too fast paced!! They got together really quick!! Really quick!! Its only been a few chapters but they alreary fell in love with each other. No build up relationship. Its boring and few sweet moments. You wont get "Kilig" reading this. There is no real fluffy scenes.

They get together really fast. They go from strangers to possessive confession to pushing the MC down in just a couple of chapters with no real build up to their relationship. So far it's been all in game and time is a little skewed; i.e. Suddenly it's one month later and they like each other. There's no out of game stuff at all and I don't know if that means he hasn't gotten out of the game since he went and looked that stuff up or if his real life... more>> doesn't matter. There's nothing on any kind of time dilation in game or anything like that so I guess his real life is just that boring. The game mechanics are vague and I'm pretty sure this author doesn't play online RPGs of any kind. If you have gaming experience you will find yourself rolling your eyes. I think the author wanted to get the meeting and getting together part over with as quickly as possible so she could focus on fluff but it's too fast for me and the world building too shallow. I might try this again once it's completely translated but losing interest by chapter 15 isn't a good sign. <<less

The story is a bit fast-paced and I was hoping for more world building. The character development was abrupt too and their personalities were too flat, I was shocked by how straightforward the ML was which left me laughing after a while.

The sudden appearances of characters, events, and 'rivals' was very numbing. It felt like I was just reading an essay all throughout and had to be read again to fully enjoy it. However, the story has a potential and there's a whole room for it to grow. It may... more>> be because the novel was just beginning, but I'll wait for future chapters for improvements. <<less

Pretty god. All the characters show their power and characteristic in their game. Some growth was seen. I love them. Especially the fusu, an tong and cold wave. They are like the madman magician, the baby poor thief and the leader that was respected and loved but kicked eveyday. The main ML or MC is too OP. But still good. Actually I want to know more about the real world. Unfortunately this novel just focussed on the game. Could be better.

I love BLs set in a fantasy RPG setting. The focus of this novel is primarily on the game instances and not on the couple's relationship. You get just a few romantic moments, the smut is only in the extras and many readers think the couple got together too fast. I did not mind all this. I like straightforward, self-aware characters who know what they want and are true to their feelings and don't take 80 chapters to confess.

Being an rpg gamer addict, I did like this story a lot.... more>> I can only dream of the day when such an immersive VR world becomes reality. <<less
