Heavenly Jewel Change

Description

Every human has their Personal Jewel of power, when awakened it can either be an Elemental Jewel or Physical Jewel. They circle the right and left wrists like bracelets of power.

Heavenly Jewels are like the twins born, meaning when both Elemental and Physical Jewels are Awakened for the same person, the pair is known as Heavenly Jewels.

Those who have the Physical Jewels are known as Physical Jewel Masters, those with Elemental Jewels are Elemental Jewel Masters, and those who train with Heavenly Jewels are naturally called Heavenly Jewel Masters.

Heavenly Jewel Masters have a highest level of 12 pairs of jewels, as such their training progress is known as Heavenly Jewels 12 Changes.

Our MC here is an archer who has such a pair of Heavenly Jewels.

The Good:

  • Fights are decently described, better than a lot of other novels in the genre anyways
  • The novel has a decent amount of funny moments, tho this is very subjective.
The Bad:

  • While there are some interesting parts, the overall story is boring
  • Most antagonistic characters end up being follower, friends, long lost relative, love interest, etc. And doing a 180 degree turn in personality.
  • Most conflicts end up becoming a bet, or tournament, or some sort of ninja warrior obstacle course, its frustrating for me, none of it feels organic.
  • r*pe is a recurring theme. I'm not offended by r*pe in fiction, There are novels I enjoy that have this trope, I just think it is a crutch to sling forward romance, and it is reused here for basically every relationship the MC has.

Dropping it. The cultivation world setting seemed a bit unusual, and just tried to stick around for that, but just can't support the MC. I love OP characters, but the plot armor in this one is so strong, it defies any reason. For all his 'cunning', some of the MC's actions seem so s*upid and thoughtless, like showing off his skills even after he was repeatedly told to hide till he's strong enough! C'mon stop thinking with your d*ck all the damn time!!

Hate such a shameless pervy MC, after raping... more>> someone, as a 13yr old, instead of feeling remorse, he's fantasizing about the night or future, and shamelessly bugging the victim, while also kissing another female. Before he has barely earned any sort of affection from one that another one comes around, and he's still 13 years old... Ugh, just hate such novels that have females (irrespective of their ages compared to MC) with no self-respect just falling for MC for whatever unrealistic reason and letting him exploit them. Then again, what did I expect from an ecchi+harem genre...*sigh* Sorry for the rant!

Plus there is just too much information dump - that one loses track of thought - mostly, I just skip those blocky paragraphs filled with almost useless info. <<less

If I were to describe this novel in a couple of words, it'll be 'plot holes'. This novel is absolutely filled with plot holes.

I don't particularly like the MC either. He's quite frankly, a pe*verted piece of tr*sh. His first misfortune came at the expense of him being mistaken as a pe*vert and what did he do after that? His pe*verted ways only escalated. He's got an harem but some of his relationships are based on him lying and acting pitiful. The female characters on the other hand are awesome... more>> (shoutout to Tian'er. Best girl material).

But at the end of the day, regardless of the plot holes, regardless of the MCs disposition, it was a fairly enjoyable novel. <<less

This novel disappointed me greatly. I have no patience for making people waste their time. Although the story starts off interesting and managed to compel me to reach the end, when I was done I was not happy, I merely wanted the time I wasted reading this back.

To me the MC is NOT the protagonist of the book.
Spoiler

The protagonist shows up twice and is from a different series. In the end the MC isn't even that useful for the final enemy.

[collapse]

So many ideas were brought up,
Spoiler

the Saint energy, the MC's child being strong

. Yet none of that is all that relevant at the end.

My heartfelt opinion is that no one should invest their time into reading this book.

Hmm. It's been a while since I last read, and I was a little iffy about finally reading this after HJC was on my TBR list for like a couple years. I love harems, I enjoy pe*verted and shameless MCs, I love OPness. I'm not completely turned off from r*pe if it's not done badly, I mean I even read and enjoyed Womanizing Mage. Once I saw the MC is only 13 and it isn't like he's a transmigrated old soul in a 13-year-old body, I was pretty apprehensive. And... more>> yeah, even though I do like shameless MCs, I feel like this dude is going overboard. The author definitely did not address the r*pe very well in the least. The MC is literally the most cowardly person ever and thinks he's clever when he's just being mostly s*upid and naive. Being shameless also has to have its limits, guys. He's also hiding his identity when the MC's dad is probably the only person who is able to protect him from harm and actually support him instead of him relying on this young girl to teach him everything. Bro, your dad is literally the strongest man in the empire. What are you doing? Dropped. <<less

As always a decent beginning which develop into a chaotic mess. If you have read other's author story. You'll notice this is just experimental on doing very vast politics and numbers of characters but it's not a good one. I actually read DD2 before this and I know for sure DD2 is written using this one as stepping stones

I was bored until the middle as the story is pretty much set in stone but I kept on reading because I was curious about origin of his power.

HJC is one of my favorite so far. Unlike many other xianxia novels, our main character in HJC does not rely on his cheat codes or superpower to win battle. He is not invincible and cannot battle across the level gap just because he is the main character and has many cheat codes. Instead, he fight battles using his wit and intelligent. He fights when the opponent is defeatable. He runs, lies and tricks others when they are stronger than him. These traits make me as a reader want to... more>> continue reading if only to see how he can overcome his obstacles and/or get himself out of trouble. The power ranking system in the story is fixed and more limited when compare to other novels. So far I have only seen 12 (I think) power levels and since our MC cannot really cannot fight people higher than his level, it makes the leveling system seem more...... how should I say... valuable. Another rare element that I have never seen in other xianxia novels beside HJC is how he needs to rely on others in various situations and group arena. Instead of 1 vs 5, our MC need a proper tank, healer, supporter and DPS to deal with the problem which makes the story even more enjoyable.

To conclude, it is a story worthy of ur time. <<less

It was an okay... read. Despite some of the content early on (ie the whole r*pe issue), the early half of the story was better. Everything fell to sh!t in the second half. Let's put importance on this place..... to never be mentioned again. Let us build up a strong independent character to have them be mush after a long awaited reunion. Oh, these supporting characters that you thought was close to the MC, poof, disappear in the story like a fart in the wind. Also, lets hand the MC... more>> everything easily. I mean, there are some hurdles to climb over, but really, there are like little to no setbacks for MC. Those are my disappointments with the story. Plot & MC was focused on, but blinder mode was enabled and the world around them suffered. <<less

Absolutely great novel

Translation 4/5. Pretty good just some random "" marks that are in random places making it hard to read

Romance 4/5 Not just random romance, although not the most realistic either with a bit of harem. The situation with it is kinda funny actually

... more>> Humour 5/5 Shameless. Chinese Novels are reputable for being shameless, and the MC is absolutely hilarious sometimes. Also his acting an scoundrelness is top noice.

Action: 3/5. IOM the weakest point, the fights are too descriptive and long. Its also quite hard to image the fight in your mind, when compared to other novels. Also his techniques are sometimes very hard to understand and imagine (eg. Spactial rend).

Characters 4.5/5 The side characters are good with different personalities. The MC has a somewhat 3D personality with reasoning behind the personality. The character actually has reason to grow strong despite his lazy nature, he is also smart, but also contains flaws that would happen at his age.

Story 4/5 At first the story is more of a foreshadow to war. He is slowly building up his nation. I actually dont know how to describe it, but its good. <<less

One word: hilarious

few more words: this is Chinese novel there is some objectification and power creep, meets cultivating schennanigans but if you relax and can get over some of the usual miserable tropes of Chinese novels it is funny great ride.

The cultivators get jewels as they progress through the ranks. This story has a more unique cultivation method than other novels. Zhou Weiqing has a great fear of death yet has to practice the most deadly cultivation method because of his meridians, other cultivation methods are not really explained. The author does a lot better job of managing MC's harem than most other authors do for their main characters. His harem members are also not useless and all of them are stronger than him when they meet. A heavenly... more>> jewel master is a cultivator who has both physical and elemental jewels.

r*pe Victims Become Lovers is done a lot better than other novels.

At first, she wants to kill the MC but because he is a heavenly jewel master he is too precious for the kingdom and she puts the kingdom first.

EDIT (Finished) :

3.8/5
The ending felt very rushed starting around chapter 229. There as was no closure, the story just ended after the final battle. No marriage ceremony despite it being one of the major driving points of the story. Out of the 6 official harem members, only one hasn't slept with him. There were also hints of another 2 harem members but it is never confirmed. The story should have had 2 more chapters to wrap things up nicely. A terrible ending to a great novel.

Harem (In order)
Spoiler

Official Members: Shangguan Bing'er, Xue Tian'er, Shangguan Fei'er, Wu Yuehan (Little Witch), Shangguan Xue'er (never slept with MC), Dongfang Hanyue
Unofficial Members: Xiao Ruse (Chapter 263), Elf Emperess
He has two sons (never named), with Hanyue and Tian'er.

Start of rushed ending (chapter 229)
Spoiler

Once he discovers saint force the story really speeds up, after going to Heavenly Jewel Island subspace for the after the second tournament is when you can tell the ending is being rushed he went from 6 jewels to 9 jewels in the span of a few chapters.

Final Battle
Spoiler

The final battle was lackluster and the enemy was defeated by and random new character. He offers MC a spot as a god and is declined.

I like the story at the beginning where the MC is playful, eccentric, and even though not more mature than his peer he is smart. But I hate reading the novel when the MC r*pe his teacher, even though he cannot control him self when it happen.

But what make me stop reading is when MC know what he has done and act like it was a joke. He even keep the blanket with her blood on it and want to give it to her back one day. He even... more>> declare that she is his woman. The MC is just like chu feng from MGA, where he does what he want and think that when he was stronger the person he r*pe will want to be his.

To me the story is great and the plot is good but the MC is just pissing me off... I hate an MC that r*pe someone and what they got is a pat on the back and the the girl fall in love with him.. the story really get my hopes up but it turned out disappointment.... <<less

Long story short.. I dont like the attitude of MC. He tease u that isnt funny
and then he gets UPSET when his integrity is being questioned. Imagine that someone beats you up for no reason, and then the next day starts to joke around with you about it.

Different from a lot of the other self-insert OP Gary-sue main characters of other xianxia. The MC still get’s his lucky break that ends his days of being a cripple, and puts him on the road to probably become a legend. But you’re reminded every chapter that he is very much just a thirteen year old who sorely lacks empathy and maturity.
Spoiler

He also acts his age in that he still believes teasing and joking is a way to show his affection. Usually not harmful, except when he teases the main heroine (for the initial arc) and tries to spin that time he r*ped her into a lighter note. Now, the girl is two years his senior and was obviously very upset from it. But because of his age and (again) lack of empathy he sort of glosses over it and says he’ll make it up to her someday because now he’s strong. Strong from the r*pe.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Oh, right. He also cut up the bloody “proof of consummation” from the mattress he did the deed on to one day give back to her if she’d accept it. I was surprised the author wrote it in.

The starting of a great TJSS novel. The main character is distinctly different from the likes of Tang San, Lei Feng, Zhang Gong and Hao Chen. He's kind of like a mix of all of their strongest personalities. He displays a laid back attitude like Zhang Gong, a cunning attitude like Lei Feng, a determined attitude like Hao Chen, and an air of intelligence and maturity like Tang San. The blending of personalities make him one of my favorite characters. I really look forward to reading more about his adventure.

Lighthearted adventure, decent romance, and decently fleshed-out characters. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

It had the potential to be better, but sadly, the author hardcore rushed the ending midway. The last fight was very drawn out and anti-climatic, half of his harem members didn't develop fully, the MC's cultivation was also left in a half-assed state. The world also feels strangely small for a xianxia novel.

Honestly, this is one of the most boring novels by TJSS. This is so cliched that it made me wanna puke. It was better till/during the Heavens Expanse arc but after that it started taking the cliched route of all the female characters falling for the MC etc etc.

if you're planning on starting this, and you've already read a lot of wuxias, then don't bother, this is the same trope, and most others are better.

If you're a fan of TJSS then you'll be left sorely disappointed
