A fun read. I kept laughing throughout the novel. Just that it became repetetive after a time and the eding was rushed

I like this. It's not too serious. Comedy most of it. Much like IRAS (except the snu-snu), but not so dense where the story easily jump topics to one another. It is for binge reading, it's not logical story but not so overwhelming reactions like IRAS. Well it is relaxing to read and the plots are light and easy to understand. Which is mixing perfectly, i.e. The topic plots is fictional fantasies in most of it, and it is illogical to dig deep into it and to put logic and... more>> sense into it to justify the stories, that's just overcompensating. The author definitely nail on this one. <<less

Very Good Novel - especially the part where he can talk to dogs and he manage to open cooking skills.

I'm laughing everytime elder dog have a seen hahaha.

Perfect story!! It makes me die of laughing! It has a much greater charm than other system novels because face slapping happens much quicker and it takes less time for him to be amazing. I love this novel so much, 10/10, must read!

One of the "Lin Fan" novels. As usual, a lot of face-slapping but it gradually gets stale as the plot has almost no direction and things get repetitive. If you shout down half your brain while reading the novel, it could potentially be a nice read.

A reccomended novel to spend you time with (although it's not a masterpiece, just take it as a casual, nice and full of warmth story).

Bassicaly it tells the story of a guy who gotten OP abilities from magical Encyclopedia. He just wanna stay low key life (because that's what he wants), but he always act righteous, fight evil, and helping everyone by doing good things... very Chūnibyō (glad he has the help from the ability)

Pro :

  • Good pace & nice story for binge reading
  • Nice face slapping (although the MC always repetitively face slapping the bad guys, I still like it)
  • Happy ending
Con :

  • Bad romance because the MC is too indevisive

In the beginning of the novel, it feels like the author doesn't know which direction he was going to take the story. (The MC had gotten two occupation abilities too fast.) There were also some inconsistencies here and there by the author and there were some wrong translations by the group in charge of the project. I would've rated it 2 stars in the beginning.

But after chap 50, the story seems to have found it's path and there are some funny face slapping incidents. The novel is centered around the... more>> MC completing tasks for his occupation before he will gain a new skill. There's no overall goal for the MC except for enjoying a lazy life.

People who enjoy this will be ones that don't mind the MC deliberately going out of his way to cause trouble when he sees injustice. He doesn't care about consequences because he has plot armor protection. I was completely hooked on this novel in Chap 500 onwards. <<less

Essentially IRAS clone with quicker arcs and no real end-goal of becoming incredible famous. MC unlocks maxed out skills in randomized domains and deals with issues he comes across, mostly through social media shitposting apparently. MC isn't as aggressively nationalistic as IRAS main but close enough for certain arcs to become unpleasant. If you excuse the typical fetish for all things traditionally chinese and cliche nationalism arcs/characters, it's a solid modern series. No real rampant racism or romance.

One of the better CN urban fantasy novels out there. But that's it.

why better? Characters are slightly more human like compared to the worse novels (in terms of dimension).

this implies that the author has a working brain. but then I really don't understand why all the scenes fall under the those same cliche ones. By cliche scenes I mean things like foolish spectators everywhere (in form of netizens here) all completely ready to treat the MC as tr*sh and then get their face slapped, small time villains every scene etc.... more>> even though the scenes look sensical compared to the tr*sh novels but the foundation is the same which make it tr*sh/2 or something but it could a lot better. (-0.75 because of this)

there are some smaller issues where situations might be very different from how things should actually play out but they are difficult to put in a few words. these issues are for example, how easily things become trending on the internet, how all the netizens forget MC's world shaking achievements when he is accused online (just to make them apologize later).

when netizens even knew that he is a godly doctor and still believed that he is a drug addict I was so pissed that I was speechless. did really no one think that someone who can cure cancer can easily get rid of the addiction.

i like it when the MC does exactly, to the villain, what the villain was trying to do to him but I haven't found any such novels yet. they either kill the villain or forgive them or the plot treats them as small fry and just forgets about them. in this novel villain suffer to some extent so I like it. so what am I crying about?. lets say a villain tries to bully MC. MC will scold him, beat him up and F*CKING LET HIM GO. now, I think that MC might not be a push over but is definitely an idiot. but in the next scene the plot will arrange karma to strike the villain and then he suffers. this happens again and again. this karmic coincidence is very irritating. (-0.25 because of this)

a girl was about to be r*ped by A, MC saved her. for some reason MC told A's fortune. A didn't listen to him and crippled his legs. MC also cure his legs. MC calls A's actions 'bullying' and says that he is not that bad of a person. so according to the MC, r*pe is bullying and a rapist is not a bad person. I really disliked this action. over all I would have ignored it in the long run but I was here while writing this review so I wrote it. (-0.25 because of this)

the norst east arc with godfather liu was tr*sh. lin fan has several powers such as hacking and fortune telling but he didnt use them at all. he said it would make things too easy and he wanted to have fun. I agreed with it and supported him using his wits to solve this issue. But then what happened? he carried a phone with his camera facing the front in his chest pocket and did a live broadcast. did really no one notice? nobody carries a phone in his chest pocket and it is not like no one would notice it. and you would assume that at least some calls would reach both the leaders when their were people watching the broadcast, some of them would also be their men. I would have to commit su*cide I started getting irritated by plot holes in chinese novels but I was looking forward to it because he was not going to cheat and I wanted to see what he would do to deal with the leaders. But if they had to act like 0 intelligence people he could rather ask them stab themselves saying that it would feel good. (-0.5 for this)

imagine you are reading about a character who is going to give a test. he hasnt studied anything but he must pass, cheating is also nearly impossible. you get curious and want to know how he is going to do it. but in the next line he gets the solutions to all the answers in his mind because of magic and gets full marks after that. you would want to slap the writer right?

when I reading the firl girl arc that's what I felt.

MC is supported by netizens but they wouldnt do anything personally and he is standing against a college principal and the professors couldnt care less about the girl. even if the girl wasnt expelled, the people who created trouble would not be affected and the college was most probably private so it was up to them, who was teach and who to remove (i am not sure about the law). the principal would have highest authority and MC was just being righteous so he could just flame them. how would master lin resolve this, I thought. but in the next moment the director of the college arrived and expelled all those students and apologized to the girl. me: "..." (-0.5 because of this)

TBH I came to read this after the strongest system and I expected it to be have that quality or be better. but this is a few levels beneath it.

because of the racism I want to reduce another 0.5 but its fine. at first I didnt notice but later I realized that the sole purpose of table tennis arc was racism. even in cursed novels like my wife is a beautiful ceo the other country people are used are small villains to show that they are tr*sh and MC is superb. MC gets strong or has less reputation a foreigner would pop up and get beaten him to show how good they are. but that table tennis meant nothing, even if wasn't a part of the story nothing would change. if he gained a skill for table tennis and he went in the show it would be one thing but he bought it there which makes it have no meaning.

in the beginning it was more about the protagonist's system which gave ''useless'' abilities the MC won and had to do some way to become famous with such skill is his 1 skill was the ability to make the divine chive pancake and it's very funny is then it was the fortune teller / crook / soothsayer it was very interesting to see MC acting more '' mystical '' more than anything the MC learned martial arts is turned into someone else before he was cowardly he seemed smarter now... more>> he is reckless is idiot why is that? Because he trusts 100% in the system is he thinks it's invincible is he has absolute confidence that the system never fails and then it got more ridiculous because he learned the skill of talking to animals why is that? Scene to make it look like this skill is useful since there are many other ways to make a skill those useful I stopped at that part because I thought it was ridiculous and it will probably continue to gain skills ''useful'' which will make him the all-powerful being he is. I only give 2 stars for the first 2 arcs because after 110-130 it's rubbish. <<less
