This webnovel is not about (just like the other reviewer said) Glory, prestige or honor. This novel revolves around REVENGE!

He's a genius. He learns very fast. Well, for me that's one of the drawbacks, the novel feels rushed. There's a power-up for the MC in every battle.

But, what makes me draw in the novel is that the MC persistently battle just to have the revenge he wants.

As some reviewer said, the berserkers follows him without proper reason.

Actually, ... more>>
Spoiler

After taking revenge at the three guys who was responsible for "training" new karmalings, most of the berserkers quit and only a few remain, even the parkour girl felt like leaving.

Many characters said to the MC that his revenge was enough since he already punished the three guys. Even I felt that he should just stop, but no, he still stubbornly persist.

He change his target of revange to those who made the alliance. Most people would think it's insane, and all characters thinks like that except the remaining berserkers. Even flame-rain opposes his idea and wants to stop him.

[collapse]

At the middle part of the novel, you will feel like the MC is walking down a path of no return or basically, he's suicidal who didn't give a sh*t whether he dies or not. This is different to other novels where the MCs prioritize their life first before anything else.

So because the MC was so suicidal,
Spoiler

It's unsurprising that he died at the end of the story. His own power destroys literally anything as even the MC was destroyed by his own power. It's reasonable as the author said that he didn't have the time to control his power because of the rushed power-ups.

[collapse]

The MC is not the hero, but rather the

, this made the novel unique compared to other novels out there.

World-building is nice. Although somewhat lacking but the author is not bad at describing the universe.

Some characters are not fleshed out properly, but those important characters are written very well by the author.

As for the MC, he's a cold blooded killer but that doesn't make him a heartless person. He still have some emotions like other people but he supress it to attain the revenge he want. Some said he's not good at controlling subordinates, but hell, he's just a highschool boy ffs

I would not recommend it to those who likes the generic "hero" novels, but to those who like a dark and revenge-driven story.

At the start, it will feel like the reincarnator but at the end of first arc, there's not even a bit of resemblance with reincarnator. So for those who feels like they had already know the story just by reading a few chapters, keep quiet. Reading 25 chapters will not let you know the whole story.

All-in-all, other than it is very rushed, give it a try and decide if you will continue or not. <<less

I was going to give this novel a 5 but the epilogue ruined it for me.

Spoiler

If you want to read this novel because of how dark it is you should not read the epilogue. It is just some cringy and annoying Disney-like ending that does a complete 180 from the mood of the entire story, as if it's a totally different person writing.

[collapse]

Besides that, it is a really good novel and I greatly recommend it to those who like darker themed novels.

First, I'd start with how I felt the whole time I read this novel.

MC was spectacular. I couldn't help but drawn up to him. Whatever he did, my eyes kept going to him. He was like a magnet, like a fire which burnt so bright you couldn't help but notice.

I've read countless novels. The MC there, of course, is the main character and eyecatching. But, Choi Hyuk is different. Other MCs sometimes made me think of what happened to other (side) characters while reading the main plot, it's not the... more>> case with Choi Hyuk. It's actually a case where I was wondering what he did when reading side plot.

Spoiler

Of course, when I took a break from reading, my mind was wondering to what happened to Jessie. Or Nasir. Or Naro. Or Bae Jinman.

But when I went back to reading, it faded into the background.

I didn't even have the time to mourn for the fallen comrades unless Choi Hyuk was mourning too.

Choi Hyuk's rage, his one goal-mind, his craziness. I was like a moth and he was the flame. I could somehow understand why the Berserkers, Kundall, and Blue Crab were loyal to death.

As for others who weren't, that's because there's politics and greed mixing. And it's actually more believable because not everyone was a madman like him.

[collapse]

To me, author made a splendid job in making the readers immersed in the novel. This was the best part of Sovereign of Judgement.

Second, the plot was fast-paced but at the same time it matched the rhythm. Almost nothing, other than Choi Hyuk's progress in getting close to his goal was important.

Well, there're romances here.

Spoiler

Seeing madmen like Choi Hyuk and Chu Youngjin growth emotionally in the middle of their road to hell... was satisfying in their own way.

[collapse]

The world-building is not bad. They told us what they should and the timing and amount of information were regulated nicely.

Third, MC is too OP (?). Hmm. When I think more, yes. But because of the first and second reasons, it offset the third. Like I wrote in the second part, author didn't tell part of their daily lifes. Choi Hyuk getting closer to his goal was equal him getting stronger. So it looked like him continuously upgraded. Plus, like I wrote in the first part, I was so immersed in the novel, MC too OP didn't bother me. Instead, I was like 'Go! Go get your revenge!'

Fourth, the characters. I definitely like how Choi Hyuk had his baseline.

For those who had accompanied Choi Hyuk since the very first mission/stage, they were really precious. They knew how he was, his goal, his core. And they supported him wholeheartedly.

As for the characters' growth... There were, although subtle. I mean, for Berserkers their personal world (figuratively, not world as in Earth) had already ended a few chapters into the novel. What's their characters' growth? It was staying true to their conviction.

Fifth, are there plot holes and plot armour? Oh yes, there are. But honestly, I've rarely read novels without either or both of them. Especially if you're poring into everything, there're bound to be some holes.. 😅

Are both glaring and annoying in this novel? No, not to me. I've been baptized by countless Chinese and Korean webnovels. If I nitpicked every novels I read, I wouldn't get to enjoy most of them. In this novel, the first and second points in this review are what keeping my eyes away from plot holes and plot armour.

In conclusion, I love this novel. I'll definitely re-reading it. <<less

This is one of those novels where you have to really turn your brain off for it to make much sense.

First of all, lets start with the main character. This whole novel is basically a revenge novel focused on the main character avenging his mother. Aliens basically killed off the majority of the population in order to cultivate stronger fighters in a war against monsters. Okay. The main character is so single-mindedly bland in this revenge story it's quite boring. He never questions his actions, even though hes quite frankly... more>> doing the same thing the aliens did, to the same people. Theres little to no self-reflection. Not only that, I feel like they just slap the word "genius" on the main character at the very beginning, not mention it after that, and then make the main character God incarnate. First of all, they never showcase the main character's talent in the way other stories typically do, so everything ends up looking absurd. The main character is supposedly a fighting genius, but "Karma" quickly superpowers him up that this becomes irrelevant. I agree with some other reviews, this story rushes too much. The main character has very little depth.

Second, on the point of rushing. Everyone is seemingly a genius at handling weaponry. Despite being the first time any of these people have used weapons, they all adapt far too quickly and become fighting geniuses. This makes close to zero sense as not once in the novel do any of them train. Ignoring this fact, the novel says there are countless races and countless planets, yet this novel sucks at expressing it. Theres so few species listed in this novel it's not even funny. The world feels like theres maybe five species in it, and that doesn't really work too well in this type of intergalactic novel. This makes the whole world feel incredibly hollow. The powercreep doesn't help either, the novel never addresses the fact that every single human is allegedly a fighting genius, with people astounding the entire universe with their skill, despite not having the foundations for this to make sense, nor any special abilities. Its completely absurd. Every other species apparently sucks at combat compared to humans. Theres never really anyone who puts the human race in perspective in terms of fighting power, making this novel feel even more hollow.

Overall, an enjoyable revenge story if you turn your brain off. Once you start thinking, this story is bland, hollow, and rushed. <<less

MC is what you'd expect from the status of being the MC. Also satisfyingly strong. A pity.

Korean novels have this immense need, huge crave, enormous greed, for representing Koreans as the most goody goodies and no matter how perfectly reasonable in a chaotic, lawless and bloody world for there to be vengeance but rather just: "nah, trust the government *wipes whitey from the corners of mouth with the back of the hand* follow the rules". But then feel perfectly how brainless that was and shamefully write about how such power... more>> doesn't exist, oh step on my balls- please.

Well, againtoday was a great discovery tbh; read 51 chapters and I can say he is great, and were it not for my tastes not leaning towards pure submission nor semi-submissive focal points; I would've read not just the whole novel but enjoyed it slowly and steadily.

Another thing to remark. Time skip + progression + army building + kingdom building... that scores for perfect potential. Well let's just write that MC completely changed and acts nothing like a MC anymore and sh*t happens like is a poor dog blood drama involving business. That was my retreat alarm, have fun. <<less

Massively overrated. I've tried to read this three times but the world, "system" and characters are so bland that it's difficult to care about what's going on.

It's ok, I read it end to end. It gets a little monotonous because the battles aren't that interesting, they just follow the typical shonen trope of the MC powering up when fighting stronger opponents mid battle. Given that, the book is finished and isn't too long so if you are looking for a book to fill some time I can recommend it for that purpose.

Sovereign of Judgement, such a fitting title for who the MC is.

Honestly I didn't expect much going into this story, but man was I surprised.

Such great character development for all of the main cast as they fight tirelessly towards their goal.

Spoiler

The parallels between the MC's group and his enemy's group was great. Not once did the author try to justify the MC's actions as being "good". The MC was ironically similar to the group he wanted revenge on.

Even the Big Bad Evil Monster on the other side of the universe was basically what would have happened to the Flame-Wing Alliance if they somehow won. Those people willing to sacrifice "consumables" for their interests would have done exactly the same thing and consumed other universes to prolong their already doomed existence.

[collapse]

All in all, it was an amazing ride and deserves a 4.5/5. <<less

The best revenge novel I'm ever read, with enjoyable and lively characters, intriguing powerplay amongst various species, and a unique karma system revolving around creating your own "fate". This is a story about what happens when people fearlessly take their determination and will to the extreme.

Like the other reviews said, MC's perspective is very fresh compared to other heroes, and the extent of his craziness made the story a very enjoyable read. The plot contained twists and turns, and often I couldn't predict what the MC and other characters would... more>> do next.

Okay. Maybe 3 stars is abit too harsh, considering the first few volumes were pretty good, but I have decided to stop now.

The thing is, the story is just TOO DAMN FAST!!! In the first parts, the story really showed a lot of promise, and I too would have put 5stars like the others.

But the Author then started too focus on other, darker aspects of the story. I mean, I'm okay with that, but the action-filled became much rarer and the MC also became Omni-type. He's become so many types... more>> of character that It's no longer clear what his unique traits are compared to other MCs.

Well this and that and many other reasons had me drop the novel. <<less

A f*cking Zionist sovereign?! The most cowardly people on the planet?

And of course, from more than 40 sovereigns on earth, only the Korean MC and the Zionist are the capable ones, the rest are either potato sacks or some 2nd rate villains, despite the requirements to become a sovereign being so high?

The mother is incredibly irrating. The MC kills someone in SELF DEFENSE as a child and everyone acts like he's the bad guy for it? And then she tells him to just be a punching bag.

This made it hard to get into the story because MC's first main goal is to find her / avenge her... later on it's revealed that she did something even more annoying too: ... more>>
Spoiler

she basically condemns everyone with her to death by stopping them from using their only means of escape, and it's treated like she's a good person for it.

[collapse]

There are also lots of plot holes already (some of which may be filled in later, but I don't have the desire to read beyond this point and I doubt it).

I mostly like the MC so far and it's rather refreshing that some people's terrible decisions have consequences, but how dumb most of the characters are as well as how the mother is treated killed my desire to read further. <<less

I'm gonna be frank here, It's been a really long while since I have read something so good. The side as well as main characters have a fleshed out personality to the point that I feel like I have been friends with or at least known them for a really long time (despite having binged this in about 9 days). I'm feeling a myriad of emotions right now and I definitely have one of those holes in my heart that you get when you finish reading or watching something really... more>> good.

I may write a detailed review (that describes the cons which a couple of people have pointed out) once I start feeling a lil clear headed but if I don't, then for my parting words I ll say- This was an amazing journey and I hope to enjoy it all over again in a couple of years. <<less

It is a meaty story in the beginning with a unique MC and events. However there are clear deterioration when the space arc started. Lost of details. Other characters not mattering. Last 50 chapters, the story reads like the skeleton of a plot instead of full story with all the meats and blood.

Another bargain bin korean webnovel with shallow themes and shallow characters with binary personalities where people are either good or bad and no in between. Started out rather good but as soon as things went to fighting generic monsters ala solo leveling it became boring. The main character has the personality of "I want to kill monster and level up" that's it. Every other character merely exist to be a POV to how awesome the main character is.

I wanted to write a full review, but I'm just so strung up on the ending that I can't.

The story is about a badass prodigy with the genre and story changing quickly near the beginning-mid stage of the novel. Expect our badass main character to rampage his way through every challenge. Characters are great, world-building is great, the novel feels fulfilling and the ending is GOOD. If you are looking for a story with an OP main character battling through the galaxy and denying fate, this is the story for... more>> you.

Spoiler

The ending is extremely gratifying and makes the novel feel worth it. I know you've cl**ked the spoiler tag but I won't go into the details. Just know that I am someone who is not very in touch with their emotions but the ending had me in TEARS. It's just the way the author built it up even with an action story, everything connects in the end and you'll likely end up in tears too... Good f*cking novel yo

Great novel, you must read it.

It gives you a view on both happiness and sadness. Basically life. You will go through hell and back, but leave satisfied. It isn't too long, it isn't too short either.

One word for this - WOW. Through over 200 chapters, I did not get bored once. The plot takes elements of space opera and survival game, but it's done deftly and in a way that feels fresh. The battle scenes are exciting, and you can't help cheer for Choi Hyuk even when you want to shake him by the shoulders and say, "Haven't you had enough yet?"

Yes, the MC becomes OP relatively quickly, but there is actual character development. Character development, in my sci-fi survival game action novel??? Amazing!

The side... more>> characters in general are interesting and aren't instantly led to cannon-fodder death if they disagree with the MC. Additionally, the female characters are allowed to exist as genuine friends (none of that secretly pining over the male protagonist bullshit) and to have complex goals and personalities. No sexism! No harem! Barely any romance but the ones that are hinted at in the novel stem from comradeship and friendship!

In fact, I was so incredibly bitter over one of the first deaths of a female side character that I almost wanted to drop this novel, but I'm so glad I didn't. Her end was precisely written in the way that it was to elicit the reaction of, "That's it? That's so unfair..." from both the reader and the MC. That side character was hands down one of the most interesting characters I've ever read in an action novel. If you read this, you'll probably guess who. I want to see an entire novel with her as the MC! <<less

Worth the read!

Overall, satisfying progression. Reading the story is a brutal struggle since there's so much suffering (mainly from the side characters balancing out their values and the MC's goals).

The first arc (and second arc) is the best to read since it deals a lot with strategizing to survive and isn't just a bloodbath, not that I mind the latter. In comparison to the rest of the story, the first arc seemed to be well fleshed out and the most interesting. The first arc develops the MC into his personality... more>> later on and sort of explains his mindset for the future chapters.

The rest of the story is interesting, but the theme is less focused on strategies and alliance. It shifts into a dog eat dog situation of constant fighting and struggling. However, with the side characters personalities and story developments, the story is still interesting despite the repetition of blood and gore. Since these characters actually have motivation (though they are biased and prone to following the MC and his goals), the clashes between the characters and MC seem more real and worth continuing the story for. <<less
