I honestly love this novel with all my heart (mostly bcs it was the first wuxia I've ever read), but as much as I love this, I have to admit: It gets boring.

This novel should have ended sooner, for sure.

Zhao feng always finds himself stuck in the same formula as always, in which he is treated as an extra when he hides his powers, only to crush his enemies between his feet, making more rivals than allies. That cicle happens several times in the hole novel, wich is disappointing.

Each time... more>> that happens, characters with potential are completely discarded, sometimes simply because they didn't get along with Zhao feng.

Also, because I've had a lot of chapters to read, some sloppy things in this novel that I didn't payed much attention before, became unbearable:

Spoiler

1- Zhao Feng never loses any fight. Simple as that. Although he did had some near-death combats, he never really losed to anyone, especially as the story progresses. We never get any emotion on these fights, because we know he'll always win.

2- I know that due to the fact that he's always travelling, we constantly see new characters, so it's obvious that a lot of these side characters would be/seem unidimensional. But the problem begins when even those who are important in his life and that actually appears more than once (like YuFei), become kinda shallow. We never get to see their personalities completely and their roles always lead them to just orbit around Feng.

3- The romance is pure disaster: As a powerful man, it's almost hilarious that Feng is so awkward and undecided when it comes to romantic life. His arc with Qinxin was kinda adorable honestly, they really could make a badass couple, but BOoM she dies and we suffer for around 200/300 chapters just to know there's a chance that she's actually alive. His progress with Qinxin was terrible, which leads him to YuFei (the supreme simp that was always here for him, but he was too dense) and honestly I don't remember much of their relationship, as I read the last 500 chapters with pure hate on my soul. But just trust me, it's too much complication.

4- The final absolutely s*cks. It was rushed to the MAX, the author just looked at the last paragraph of this hole series and thought: "why not end everything only on this single and small final paragraph?"... I absolutely did not read all of these 1500 chapters for this sh*tty end.

[collapse]

I absolutely recommend it, if it's your first wuxia novel, but if you already know how this works, you'll probably won't like KOG.

Still love this novel tho, even if it's too slow or misses quality as it progresses. I guess the MC just made me like him enough to endure it until the end. <<less

Disappointed. Its boring and tr*sh. MC was just a weak brat before getting that supreme god eye and then boom after emerging with the eye. He became powerful like defeating genious and reincarnated people, like literally powerful. He has no character and there's very less bloodshed in this novel which people starts guessing after reading the novel. Just tr*sh, gonna leave it at that.

Not the best, but I would still rate this 5 stars, because I think it has a pretty nice story to tell and a decent ending. Overall it is a worthwhile read so I would definitely recommend it.

Spoiler

Left-Eyed Heavenly Emperor aka the Pursuit of death arc is personally one of my favorite arcs, and the most memorable one for me so, I would really recommend reading at least that far in to the story.

In terms of romance, since the MC has basically obtained x-ray eyes, everyone pretty much looks like a skeleton to him. Though he can also see normally if he wishes to. His eye also keeps him calm and cold-headed for the most part so most of the time he acts with reason. There was a time when a prince wanted to marry one of the love interests, and the MC just said something along the lines of the prince having a bad personality and since the love interest comes from the same clas him, pretty much family, he is not suitable for her.

This novel isn't too bad to be honest. Am I wowed by it? No. But is it bad? Definitely not. Starting with the bad points:

1. The novel moves pretty slowly. The beginning pages almost made me give this novel up because it follows the most common trope of xianxia novels and it doesn't really offer something new but it does pick up at around ch.100 and it gets a lot more interesting.

2. The skills description is a bit lacking. Aside from the MC's skills, other cultivator skills are poorly described... more>> using just a few lines. But the things is, the skills are all unique per character so I don't really blame the author since even at the 500+ chapters, I've never seen even similar techniques so far.

3. The MC doesn't really have any purpose in his journey up until the later chapters. There's so much build up in MC's character that you somehow question yourself where is his drive coming from.

On the good points:

1. There are a lot of face slapping. If you are a fan of face slapping moments, there are a lot in here.

2. When you get past the beginning chapters, the MC gets progressively interesting as he discovers more of his powers.

3. The world building is relatively good. Unlike other xianxias that has information dump chapters, the pacing of this novel, at least with regards to world building, is good.

4. The MC's abilities are a bit unique from what common xianxia novels offer.
Spoiler

Unlike common xianxia novels, MC isn't a swordsman (thank god) but has a unique eye bloodline that evolves as the novel progresses. Also, because of his eye powers, he chose to be an archer instead of being a swordsman.

[collapse]

5. The romance is less. This is a good point for me since I don't really like too much romance when reading xianxia novels. It is more battle, cultivation oriented and gives more focus on MC's growth to power than some silly child crush turning into love that pushes him to the top of the world.

Overall I give this novel 4 stars, actually it's 3.5 but 4 works as well. <<less

"This is an era of ;Countless geniuses;".

King of ;Countless Geniuses;

Countless geniuses, the novel.

... more>> Its mediocre. I like the idea and all eye powers ZF got, but so what if he got "something" when just any f*cking random mediocre dude will have "something something" instead.

Progression is terrible, annoying, delusional. Mainly, because FFR (Fast Food Restaurant) is an actual dumb piece of shit. Oh, so discovered a dude has this type of bod---- oooooh, woops, I guess ill repeat the same discovery with the same dude in the same chapters a couple of times and 5 chapters later once again, is fun...

He has an "down-to-look-at" memory, I know he isnt someone with bad memory, but f*ck he is so s*upid.

Grades, whether is skills, weapons, or inheritance weapons; matter not. Cultivation¿ Matter not. There is nothing that matter nor that has solidness. Whatever author decides something moves works and exists because exists, "becauses". Its horrible. f*ckin retarisded.

He not only contradicts himself over and ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooover, "over" anything and everything, but also does it a couple times for every little detail every single chapter. I was already falling unconscious by the time I reached 700 chapters, I got such strong uninterest, no disappointment is just like playing kingdom hearts (the newest) ; people play it and drop it fast af and nobody thinks is rare. That my criticism.

So besides the skills he gets from his eye bloodline; any other technique and what else, is just fireworks which rng decides the outcome- worhtless. But they are cool tho, not bad.

It doesnt have a good story, it barely somehow just right at the edge manages to create one, but... sigh, big sigh.

Characters arent characters, they are like minecraft enemies, no matter what, no matter anything, they never have existencial value unless is to creat trouble for ZF or fight him.___.

...

meaning; the only thing they can do is that mentioned above, if they fight someone else, its because that dude is being watched by ZF and are about to fight, a fight with unending moves that are just moves and it says #1 moves and #2 & 3 moves to skill skill -perfect time stop, say unnecesary nobody asked, and no person in fighting would stop to say- keep repeating, oh out of energy, being at an advantageous position, what does MC says¿ letsletitliveimtiredap**sycowardandbraindead.

Also meaning, they have no story, backstory, nothing. Cant have any JUST NOT AT ALL such f*cking failure of building of character, world and system, so abruptly mediocre.

Well, its just a too much of a chill novel. I got feels like Immortal Mortal, and they went away so fast I didnt noticed.

Vainilla as well, lacks quite the amount of emotion and leaves in blank too many, too many juiceable stories. <<less

Quite a typical wuxia novel. Even had some dejavu feelings. As usually, later chapters become quite boring - chacters switch all the time and one doesn't even feel like remembering their names anymore.

(THERE MIGHT BE SOME "SPOILERS" DOWN HERE)
Pretty much everything is about "your fist is 20% stronger than mine or the other way round", of course there's some overwhelming situations but the MC is either too strong for those or too weak but plot armor is strong and luck and pleasant coincidences follow him. Imagine needing... more>> a body and finding a dying 1 in a thousand years talent with special mutated bloodline, handsome appearance, alright background, who's also a "cold loner" like MC and... whose name sounds the same way as the MC's... convenient, isn't it? It's not as shameless as that all the way round throughout the whole story, but otherwise somewhat there.

MC "in the end" is an all-rounder good: soul magics, bloodlines, archery, weapons, arrays, pillmaking, blacksmithing, scouting, with lots of technics to fight in every aspect... checked the ending chapter, there's also the mechanics mentioned. With his eye he is changed in every aspect pretty much: memory, reaction speed, insight and thought processing speed, copying technics, faster cultivation, stronger bloodline that also debuffs many of the opponents etc etc... And there's pretty much noone who could achieve even just a part of it, most opponents don't even have enough technics, as it seemed. There has been even mentioning about better outcome while focusing on certain aspects but the author just realises that there's too few left to write about in case MC sticks to that same build. So thus the corpses, the melee etc etc. And somehow MC is just too great in everything while the others don't focus on certain aspects themselves as well, so it seems, but due to lower talent they just lose.

Can't say that it's been completely uninteresting to read, but as of now I'm fed of it. Maybe one shouldn't read too much of it in one go and you won't even need to skip lots of text due to it being of the same nature. At least I didn't have enough patience in the latest chapters to read all that "water". But then there's been quite some fun and interesting moments as well so the story is okay. <<less

MC has fkin sharingan. Not kidding. Just with a different name. I mean look at the points,

1. it's a bloodline ability.

2. Allows MC to copy others techniques (MC needs to be compatible with them sometimes) just by looking.

3. Allows him to use illusions. And of course the illusion world has 20hrs:1sec ratio and MC uses this technique to torture ppl... (tsukuyomi much?)

Warning this review will contain some spoilers, even if I want to keep em out of it but I am sure I wont be able to 100% avoid that.

So first of the novel in itself so far was okay. But I still am struggling between 2 and 3 stars might change later on but for now thats what I would rate it. (for now)

Spoiler

Problem 1 I have is not sure if its with the Author or the Translator if he changed or got lazy whats the problem? Repetition every chapter sometimes even multiple times we get reminded "What level" our MC is on "how that compares to normal" on that level and "How his different Cultivations in body mental and soul part differ".

And here I dunno if its the Author just repeating over and over, the Translator that cut that out in the beginning a lot more frequently cause its not important to the story and interrupts the flow of it or if after 600 Chapters its just getting really repetetive.

Cause we know he is at the True Spirit realm... for 10 chapters he is still at it and his mental Energy is True Lord realm. And we also know yeah he is an exceptional genius normals on that level would not be able to take 1 hit prodigies would loose exceptional prodigies would be on par.... but thats since the beginning of the novel so why repeat that over and over? To get wordcount it feels it would be enough to state of the other party is prodigy normal or exceptional or whatever.

Second yeah there is a bit of reminders to old charakters (that they exist no infos on them) but the romantic subplot till now is well yeah. Okay his body is cold as ice it seems he is a 14-21 year old boy and doesnt react to the most beautiful females in partly overaluring dresses? If you dont react to it okay but then dont put in a halfassed I have feelings (for some people) but dont feel anything in general that makes no sense either eye kills the feelings or doesnt.

Thirdly the world okay I understand its a fantasy world and I understand its strange. But the dimensions are still.... really strange to listen to. Firstly what I read a few chapters ago what triggered me writing this review "The Eight Desolate Mountain is brobably tens of thousands of miles wide almost the size of the Cloud Area." Okay so far we have a mountain that is multiple 10k Miles wide hmm going once around the earth is 25k miles so it is at about the same size if not bigger cause the width of the earth is only about 12k miles okay its a bigger planet right? So the mountain must be pretty f*cking big and beeing half of the map or a significant part... meep its as big as the "cloud" area he stated thats the most remote uninteresting and small part of the "isle" he was from and his birthplace these are smallparts not even counting to the "faction star-rating" or at most beeing a "half star" faction " then there are starfactions that have multiple 10s till 100s of these below them so based on that his isle alone has on an average 50 of these places below the major factions and alone on the northern part are 8 such factions. There are 5 island areas and the "thousands of miles of desolate area inbetween the factions" so if we forget the desolate areas it should still be at least 2000x 20k miles for a small island with at most 1 star factions that are ruled by a 2 star faction that have under their influences 100s of islands of 1 star factions like the one of our protag... and the factions go up to 5 star each island beeing bigger and having thousands and tenthousands of miles ocean in between them so for me that would be 2000x20kx110 (since every star faction up is a ten times increase one of the leaders stated) x110 x110x110 so we have basically a world that traveling over once would be at least 5.85e^15 miles.... yeah that would be a big f*cking planet that has to fight for resources hmm and on the description on how rare humans are its hard to get resources and space to life in. *roles eyes sarcastically* sorry but such things kinda bother me.

4. It might be that real gods can do stuff that is far from humans but our protag is only on the second level over human thats a "bit " stronger as is stated "True Spirit realms can fly for short amounts of time but will tire out really fast so they prefer to use flying beasts or run" okay so far so good they can fly shortly but our protag is so fast he can fly 10ks of miles in this "short time" and thats about half a day time so he is basically a highspeed jet going around the earth resisting windforce. Well that would be fine and all but there are still multiple (at least 5 (origin realm needed to be one star voidgod needed to be 2 star and it goes up to 5 star) levels) above him what shall happen? He shall be able to shatter planets like theirs with one palm? hmm then just him breathing should delete smaller planets in the universe...

Other than that the pacing of the novel is aweful new enemies nice and all but in this novel EVERY person he meets except the friends and love interest are instantly envious and want to kill him for his knowledge or items. Who would really offend in this frequency an exceptional expert and prodigy that when its not going to work to kill him and he sure has some hidden cards to stay save. Cause if he grows he will take revenge most likely, like he has done on some factions already but the enemies that are so intelligent powerful living for 100s of years already feel like toddlers fighting for their favourite sweets (not all but 70-80% of the time) and to the pacing its fight to fight and grow to be able to grow to be strong enough to fight and grow to fight.... yes that there is no comedic chapters slice of life inbetween its from one fight or enemy to the next not even cultivation is described much its "he went into his mind and let the lake spin "... "6 month passed" and else he only fights trains or explores for treasures to fight more and grow more no charakter developement for outside charakters or relations with other people nor rest nothing that changes up the pace.

Charakters thanks to that are basic at best we have 2 charakters except MC till this chapter that get a tiny bit more screentime the one gets id say 4 chapters worth and the other 6 the rest are not even 1 chapter charakters honestly I was not able to remember any enemy after the first clash and the one that was like for 400 chapters the revenge target cause everything fell flat unrememberable same with friends I know he went with 2 people to his clan his fellow disciples but after the initial help he gave them in the clan I have no idea if they even exist or the "prodigies " from the northern island part they were just forgettable even the one protecting him in the new religion I basically know he is red haired and he is a podigy so 1 level stronger then his cultivation his charakter his behaviour likes dislikes I know NOTHING

[collapse]

So verdict the novel basically is nicely written with major flaws and till 600 the story is well flat or a slope going down cause these fights loose their tension they had in the first chapters without a change of pace.

I will continue 200 more chapters and if my verdict changes and I continue will post here or if the flaws get more annoying I will drop it

BUT this novel is a recommendation for people who only read 2-3 chapters a time and max like 5-6 a day and that not every day but every 3-4 days cause then the repetition and reminders would most likely be not as bad as they were if you like me kinda binge 600 chapters in a few days I mixed it up with another novel (that I dropped cause of personal taste transxending vision) but thats was far more realistically and writing style more advanced writen even the charakters in many parts were more believable and it was a good expirience compared just some personal dislike that made me drop it.

PS VERDIC CHANGE!

I read on and basically a short while after I ranted and kinda rated it badly here one of my biggest critique points changed the annoying repetition. Its still there sometimes around chapter 900 but its far less not multiple times per chapter randomly reminding more like now and then a "he was surprised how MC with lower level could be so strong and fight against level XYZ " so rating change from 3->4 I give a read it its fun dont take it too serious still especially dimensions and descriptions but for a lighthearted read I enjoy it much more now. <<less

It’s quite a good story, mischievous, and full of surprises.

The romance aspect is quite tame, but it is existent.

Some characters are more developed than others.

Spoiler

The world is fairly self-contained.

By at least halfway through the novel, you’ll have some idea as to how it’ll end, if you were paying attention.

You can assume that if it’s a main or secondary character, like the protag, his baes, or his best friends and family, that they’ll be safe, one way or another.

As for the rest... well, don’t get too attached.

It’s Game of Thrones up in that b’tch and you won’t always know who‘s gonna die until they die.

Like, one chapter they’re well and dandy, and next, ded.

Spoiler

The after-story is quite funny, but the ending might make you wanna b*tch-slap the author.

I know I do.

It’s that cheeky of an ending.

I wanna take a wad of Yuan and slap the author with it, before I hand it to him for writing such a fun story.

I’d love to read another of his stories, but if he pulls that sh’t again, so help me Gods Above...

But yeah, picky as I am with my novels, I’m glad I picked this one.

Just finished this novel and I think it is a good novel for casual readers without sky-like expectations because the story is quite simple. Plot armor is present so again, if you expect world-breaking plot like a portion of reviewers do, this novel might not be the one for you.

Having said that, this novel is actually the first 1500+ chapters novel that I actually finished and I usually find it difficult to finish super long novels like (HN1F and ISSTH). One of the reasons is because the story is simple... more>> and the pacing of the arcs is actually decent. The reason why I think that the pacing is decent is because there is sufficient movement from one place to another by the MC and this can be attributed to the good world/universe building. Another good reason to like this novel is the fact that the ending does not suck and has proper closure, which is a novelty in CN novels.

Although it is is a 'good' novel to me, I would still rate it 3.7/5 if I were able to because the author (I'll give the translator the benefit of doubt) is simply sloppy with a lot of things which ends up with minor plot holes and disappointments. Minor discrepancies regarding distance, power level, growth, etc. Leave question marks throughout the novel but they did not hinder my experience with the novel much. Timeskips are lazily done and a lot of potential arcs were wasted because the author decided to develop unimportant/minor arcs. For example, the author could have expanded arcs regarding Ten Thousand Ancient Races and Wild God Region and do away with the Pirate Island Inheritance arc.

The romance part is actually not bad because it actually advances the plot and the fact that his love interests only appear in some arcs is great because it gives the MC a lot freedom. One thing that could be done without though is the "relationship-baiting" between MC and some female supporting characters because it is really frustrating and serves minimal purpose.

Overall, the novel is a decent read but author's sloppiness may lead to minor frustrations. Since this novel seems to be author's pilot work, I hope readers could give him a chance. He has written a second novel title and I would probably give it a go once it is completely translated. <<less

King of Gods is standard Chinese web novel of boy inherits special power. He encounters several "lucky" resources, powers up, and then battles stronger antagonists. I'm not trying to disparage the web novel, but it isn't anything new or is it executed any better than your standard trope. If anything the translation goes down hill around ch400 (?) to ch500-ish where many glaring grammatical mistakes show up which makes you wonder where the editors went. Only saving grace is that the author tries to build up the tension between the... more>> main character and his love interest over a longer period of time (although some would criticize that the progress is slow). I would recommend this novel only if you just want to binge on a standard Chinese web novel. There are other novels that has done this format about the same and with better translator/editor combo like Martial World. <<less

I've been reading many novels and this one could be said the best of them all. I am at the chapter 702 and the MC is still struggling for his life from the death pursuit. Sorry I don't like writing my thoughts too much but novel is novel you don't expect the perfect imagination from the author (in case some readers review it as a time-wasting novel or some ill intents). I agree that this novel has fast moving time which is a bit cliche but everything is attached together... more>> when the MC promised to have a combat with another character Yu Tianhao from some chapters which I forgot. All in all, I'd recommend to those who like reading fantasy novels to give it a try.

The story is as cliche as ever. But at least the MC is a little different than most since he's always calculating. He can be ruthless when needed and be forgiving if the occasion needs him to be. In fact most of the main characters in the story will draw you in.

However, the author drags the story by letting some key opponents survive needlessly just to get word count. It would annoy you so much you'd wanna pull your hairs out.

Too much fight scenes. Some fights could last up to... more>> 10 chapters or more, on a nobody. And this happens all the time.

But what is really the most disappointing is the lack of satisfaction. There's no climax on every arc. When you're building a momentum of 250 chapters, continuously dragging the story with fights that are very unnecessary, it leaves you hanging. There's literally no proper climax on every arc. Every conclusion is shallow, or mediocre at best.

Still one of the better ones out there though. <<less

First I was waiting for something interesting to happen, something unique but this novel is really a generic xuanhuan almost copied from the others. Same plot, same character personalities but slightly worse naming sense. If you are really into those xuanhuan and is not like me who have read almost all of the xuanhuan here in NU who wants something new from this type of novel then I recommend this for you. But if you are like me, then give yourself a treat and you know what I mean. When... more>> we're talking about xuanhuan all in all then I guess this can be considered as so-so. <<less
