I honestly wanted to give this a chance, I really did. The concept was fresh at least for me having never read anything about people returning from a world of magic/cultivation after getting teleported or whatnot. Yet I started reading and was sorely disappointed. Only managed to make it to chapter 24, but I'm already giving it a score in the negatives.

MC spent 10k years in a cultivation world and managed to reach unimaginable levels yet once he comes back he is ret*rded in so many ways. At school he... more>> acts like a dumbass, when confronted he acts like an idiot, every step he takes is a wrong one. He doesn't even need his advanced cultivation knowledge, one would surmise that by living 10k years one would develop some advanced wisdom but for some reason this guy is worse than an immature 10 year old.

Regardless I won't go into detail because it would be too long for me to try to push my frustrations of this novel into the review suffice to say I think I've read all I can take from this novel, and it offends my tastes enough for me to give it a 1 star. <<less

There is a big problem with this novel after he starts his daily life because the MC pretty much focus his time in school and the teachers there keep bullying him because of his grades. Well it got very boring pretty fast some as*hole teacher even wanted to expel MC because of poor grades but all I could think about reading this was what happend to the Xiaxnxia element.

Also the reason the MC was kill in the immortal world was so wortless basic his friends and wife decide to stab... more>> the MC in his tribulation because they belive he have a powerfull cultivation in a book he never let them read so they got greed but the reason the MC never let them read was because this cultivation can only be done if you start from zero so it`s useless to them. So yeah his wife kill him because of a useless book with a pointless cultivation I really wanted to see there reaction when they find out for how little they betray there friend. <<less

Okey this review will be pretty heavy on spoilers so putting it all in spoiler tag :D

Spoiler

First of the story, plot line or well mostly the timeline is all over the place or full of holes.

For instance the setting of the story is that MC get's hit by a car and then a part of his soul flies of to the Immortal world and get's reborn there and then lives there for 10 000 years. He is later on betrayed and killed by his wife and two best friends. He then get's his soul sent back into the modern world and we find out that 1 year has passed since he left and that his original body who had only half his soul turned slow and s*upid in the head.

Up to here it's kinda straight forward and easy to understand but then we find out that the time line and plot is like this.

MC apprentice comes to modern world and searches for MC at least 20+ years before MC is even born -> MC's wife is reincarnated in the modern world after dying in the Immortal World some 4-5 years before MC is born -> MC grows up to be 17-18 years old and see's his future Immortal World wife who has reincarnated about to be hit by a car and pushes her out of the way and is instead hit by it and travels to the Immortal world -> 10 000 years after getting to the Immortal World MC is about to go to a higher place/become a god and is betrayed and killed -> Wife feels bad about what happened and kills herself and is somehow reincarnated before the MC is born -> Apprentice spends thousands? Of years to learn space travel skills so she can meet the MC again and somehow travels to way before MC is even born.

Thats pretty much the setting of the timeline.

The story has the usual pro china and racism or what not. For example, MC and friends drinks gr*pe wine, MC say's it's good but his chinese rice wine is much better, or down plays on western medical instruments calling them useless, mostly it's just little things but the constant pointing out that Chinese stuff is better is quite noticeable. The author/MC hates a lot on Japanese calling them sick in the head, despicable and so on. This is especially strange since he hasn't even been in China for 10 000 years but is still all go go China everyone else sucks!

There is quite a bit inconsistency for instance in one chapter a girl will be explained as pushing out her chest but because she's completely flat it just becomes comical. Then just a few chapters later same character is described as having big melons that bounce around when she runs.

It's kinda weird how when he is gonna save a cancer patient he simply compares cancer to poison so he only has to remove the poison from the bloodstream and their cured, even though the whole point with cancer is that it's mutated cells that are constantly producing "poison" that eventually hits the bloodstream and causes further cancer around the body. So he never cures the liver cancer but only expels the blood poison and the grandma is just cured like that.

Right now I just feel like I am bashing on the novel which I probably am to be honest, it has almost all the tropes I dislike in a Chinese novel and frankly the MC is annoying, pretty s*upid and the plot is fairly lame.

For instance his father side of the family could never find the MC and his mom even though they are super powerful, connected, rich and have been looking forever. This makes no sense since they knew what town the mother was giving birth in, part of her name and how far along in the pregnancy she was. Coupled with the fact that Chinese children almost always takes their fathers surname as their own it would have been super easy to find them. Especially since it's also explained that the mom would go several times almost every year to spy on the family, which apparently no one found strange at all since having a woman come for 20 years and spy on the mansion wouldn't arouse suspicion. So yeah this part is just dumb and it goes on as a filler chapter part for at least 20+ chapters.

Another fact is that no one ever suspects the MC of being the person behind stuff or in charge of the company he owns since he wants to stay low-key and out of sight. But at the same time all the people keep going to visit him at his house out in the open and his subordinates keeps calling him boss but yeah not like it's a dead give away. To summarize the author tries really hard to make the MC be seen as smart or successful, The only problem is that the author has made the MC dumb as a brick and everyone else is just made even s*upider. While it is a cultivation story none of the stuff that happens on an intellectual level makes sense.

Lastly of course all the girls just magically falls in love and throws themselves at the MC even when he's a douchie douch and pretty much just tells them of and how he only wants a woman to be a baby machine for him in the future they go all wooow he's such a gentleman and awesome guy. So eventually just to be with him some of them just becomes his s*x buddies who he can sleep with and have no string attached to the s*x and again they just go with it swooning and falling heads over heels for the MC. Until much later on when he eventually comes around and marries them, he still acts like an arrogant prick towards them though and like their only his possession and not his equal.

To quote someone, I'm at the chapter 510, when I started, I was a big fan yet more and more :

The racism, general biggotry and nationalistic pride in this novel is truly rampant... Makes it really hard to stomache reading it at times... It's a huge turn off. I hope there's at least a lesson down the line...

It's tiring. A so called "immortal" who traveled the universe, lived for millions years was present at war with way more than billion people actually hope to "govern" Japan in the Dark and... more>> hold their people in his hands. Also wants to obtain more and more money with reason "we need money to get ingredients". Also his view of women is kinda strange: they are great and must be respected but charming left and right while keeping them at bay is okay, keeping himself free because of previous hurt but "sacrificing" his body himself to a woman subordinate in love.

At first, I thought it was a immortal with little "outside" experience, very innocent so 1. protect his family, 2. get stronger maybe?

But it seems I was wrong as he gets more and more like one of these big tycoon with lots of connections, secret knowledge, money can solve everything or killing all enemies (if killing seems troubling then just create a unique immortal technique that you could never show before).

I have to say, for a fabled cultivator, every chapter make the MC more and more boring. If it change, I would be more than happy to start reading again, but this time was the time too much and I need a break from this "The immortal World" with no immortal (merely OP people whose powers are never used) and no world (stuck in China with a bit of Japan as a... land of uncultured foreigners I guess).

So off I am. <<less

Grammar: 2.1/5
Story: 2.1/5
Writing: 1.8/5

The author could do with some improvements... to the fight scenes... to the dialogue... to the character development... to pretty much everything. The only reason I can really keep reading this is that I've gotten this far and don't want to quit.

(Update as of Chapter 468: I figured out one of the things that have been bugging me about this series. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is very pretentious. Every word spoken is forced through a filter of I'm bigger than you so... more>> you have to listen to me. Every action taken is from some supreme point of view that is ridiculously wrong. Every situation they find themselves in is just a setup for some pretentious show of power or wealth. There's no middle ground, you're either 100% right or 100% wrong in this series, and if you're not the MC you're most likely 100% wrong.)

(Side note, another Rant: Damn these word count filling bastards... The author tells you information about something in one paragraph then immediately has the character repeat the exact same information with hardly any variations if any. I really hate this. It's a pointless waste of space. It's a waste of time. Mostly, it's just s*upid to repeat the exact same bit of information twice without so much as an idea separating them. It's like: The circle was very round, it was so round it was surprising. "That circle is so round it's surprising!" exclaimed the MC, marveling at its roundness.)

(Update as of Chapter 374: Conversations in this series all feel monotone. Everyone has the same way of speaking, regardless of male/female, age, position, or what-have-you. They all talk in the same way. I like the face-smacking bits, but that's about it. Everything else feels too contrived. Nothing really feels natural with this story.)

It might be way too soon to give a proper review, but I will go on what they have dished out thus far. While it has quite a few of the typical Xianxia stereotypes, it also has a good dose of humor. Unfortunately, this series is also plagued by quite a few instances of misspelling and awkward wording/phrasing. The writing, while not the worst I've seen in a Chinese series, is far from being anything different from the typical Xianxia. The explanations given on what is going on are the typical "this is the way it is, it's simple, you should understand" for where they pretend that the information is common sense (I detest this way of writing as it almost seems to ridicule common sense and proper writing form).

All in all, it's entertaining at times and I'll wait for a bit more before updating this review and giving it a proper assessment. <<less

i will most likely remove this novel from my reading list.

i am not the type who would write reviews and evaluate stuff because I dont even know how.

there are a few reasons I am dropping this novel for

... more>> 1- author introduces many characters and then bam, they are ni more.

(well the novel is more that 1000 chapters so it isn’t weird in a way)

2- the author doesn’t really know how the teenages behave and how their life goes (maybe in china it is like that idk)

3- main character wants to be low profile but actions proves otherwise

4- main character sense of justice depends on the situation (as if he has a moto for every situation, even if his motos cross other directions)

5- during the whole series autho talks about how main character lived thousands of years and met all kinds of people and have a broad wisdom. but in the end... his actions are not the type you would expect from such a person

i know I know I have been complaining alot, its a f*cking novel, things happen you know, its not real life.

what am I even talking about.. lets just sleep man <<less

This story is an elusive satire of the typical Xianxia; I can feel the humour radiating from this story. Since, "the final boss" has been defeated, the purpose of MC might be, to find the "next boss" or to return the immortal world. Either way, a lot of humour might be encapsulated, but the latter, boring AF, might happen. Who knows...

Skip this one. Seriously. The ending is horrible. In fact, the majority of it reads like a child telling a story about his self insert. All the ideas presented by the author about business, Taoism or the Heavenly Tao, enlightenment, distance, numbers, time, logistics, money, and interpersonal relationships are laughably bad. Whole characters and treasures are forgotten wholesale even though entire chapters or arcs are spent on them. Too much time is wasted on Earth, not enough time is spent on subsequent realms. The God realm is a laugh due... more>> to how rushed it all is. The final fight against the last enemies are a few sentences without any detail or dialogue. Seriously, don't waste your time like I did. I'll still consider it a 2/5 but only because in my eyes a 1/5 is unreadable gibberish.

Previous more detailed but rambling review -
Spoiler

It's kind of a big problem with these cultivator/ascetic novels where the protagonist are supposed to be fairly even keeled due to living thousands of years and reaching enlightenment but tend to throw wild childish tantrums at random and let their emotions take complete control. They're also incredibly arrogant while giving crap to other arrogant characters in the work.

Tang Xiu is heavily favored by Heaven in both lives but never really seems to think so and gives other characters crap for not pulling themselves up by their bootstraps and he's the best at everything and everyone loves him. Tang Xui constantly says that he wouldn't punch someone that approaches him while smiling but he treats everyone around him with indifference, contempt, or as servants. People will do him favors and he'll constantly ask for favors but people better not ask him for anything or they're scum. He's a Gary Stu that makes other Gary Stus blush. Even in the beginning people give him free stuff. His buddy on his first meeting with him gives him his mansion even though he only helped him once at a gambling match. He gets a sect of cultivators for free and once that happens any idea of him not being around to solve problems is gone because now he can send people to do things and look after his loved ones, etc. This happens in the first 2 months of his "return from the immortal world." He's always in a rush but there's never any reasons given why he needs to hurry his cultivation, or his business ventures, or anything outside of treating his apprentice. Another problem is his business ideas are all crap and wouldn't work to make it one of the top companies in China or anywhere else but the author is constantly saying so.

If you think about his business model - the guy sells wine, a single SKU, in standalone stores that are always sold out. Really think about - he has retail employees, shipping and logistic employees, and stores that sit empty a lot of the time all across the nation. What do the employees do when they're sold out? Do the stores close? Do the employees even get hourly wages? He may as well have sold online. It's the same deal with his other products. He has single use boutique stores with one or two SKUs and purposeful supply problems. This is nowhere near enough to even run a successful small business let alone a nation spanning multi billion dollar business, especially when you take in how much investment he put in. The worst is when he starts a lab and then says to the researchers to make a specific thing that he saw one time but doesn't know how it works which he succeeds in due to the character's business plans all being solid gold. My head is slamming against the desk just thinking about it. At least his real estate investment stuff makes sense and even then they're not typically his ideas. People just give him money and include him in their business plans when they first meet him and know nothing about him! Even Chen Fan from City Cultivation has better plans but that novel and character has it's own massive problems.

Overall I can't recommend this one. Who knows, it may get better but I doubt it.

As of C1025 - I'm still in the process of reading this one. It has many flaws but very few truly offensively bad things and very little positives. Honestly, I think I'm still reading it because there's not really enough inoffensive urban cultivator novels but there were plenty times throughout that I felt like dropping it. Pretty much any time he deals with his weird obsession with his mother or his teacher are horrendous. The author also seems very meticulous in setting up a pattern where every "arc" is essentially the same - Silk pants/arrogant young masters start crap with him or someone he knows, he gets involved and deals with them, this leads to him getting more benefits (usually cash or connections but sometimes leads to a new arc), then before the thing is about to be solved or immediately right after the next problem crops up. Add in some face slapping with the crowd that shows up and disappears on demand saying things like "who's this young guy, why is he so arrogant, he can't do whatever" and then Tang Xiu does the impossible or unlikely thing and then more of the peanut gallery being shocked or realizing that it was actually the amazing famous guy. For a guy that doesn't care about what other people think of him he sure does listen to what the peanut gallery has to say about him constantly. You can skip all that. There's almost no down time in the story for character building or world building. That said, it's also very slow paced in terms of chapter count versus cultivation progress but very fast in terms of in universe time. At this point there's been more than 1000 chapters but he still has reached nascent soul and only two years have passed by, not like it seems to matter as power values seem to be all over the place. In early chapters he can move faster than people can see and in later values he can also do the same. I guess he can fly in later ones too.

The latest time I felt like dropping it was dealing with Little Wuji (the fairy) and how he deals with Han around chapter 1020. Seriously, at the beginning of the novel he's lovey dovey with her then wants to mu*der her the next even though she's been nothing but helpful to him in this life. Honestly, I kind of don't want to continue it but I've already invested a lot of time so I'm going to finish it.

Edit as of C1206 - Kept reading and now the author's habit of forgetting things is getting really bad. He even forgets things from one chapter to the next. Numerous promises and meetings have been forgotten, characters have been abandoned, new characters keep getting introduced, and new more powerful cultivators and their groups keep getting introduced while still on Earth and then promptly forgotten. The protagonist's attitude towards everyone is still bipolar but somehow I think it's gotten worse. The Japan arc was pretty bad with a lot of plots, plays, and schemes and the arc after that is more of the same. I just can't see this ending well without massive time skips and from reading other reviews it looks like it won't. Still I'll persevere at this point.

Edit as of C1297 - At 1250 there's finally a 3 year timeskip. At 1281 is when they finally move on to the Immortal World which is like a space plane. Long Zhengyu (who I must remind you has always been supportive of the protagonist but was never taught cultivation) was in a coma before the time skip but I guess it must have been solved since he shows up hale and healthy right before going to the Immortal World. The author still forgot about a promise he made to heal a man's brother in return for a favor. At this point we can only guess whether it's been done. I can't help but imagine Toe Jam and Earl when visualizing it which I'm not a huge fan of with floating continents with a black star filled background or just a generic outer space adventure but with people flying through it with their bodies. Granted, I wasn't a huge fan of the vampires, werewolves, mages, aliens, and hidden cultivator sects on Earth. It seems like the author was just throwing every idea he had into the soup.

Wow. Although I would probably rate the novel a 4/4.5 out of 5 because I really enjoyed it, but the ending really f*cked it up.
Spoiler

This isn't a novel that goes much into the fighting scenes but more plot development. I wasn't bored of it at all while reading through it, but the last 30 or 40 chapters just made no f*cking sense with no satisfying ending. Half his harem wasn't even mentioned in the last 150 chapters and can someone explain to me what happened to them? Like Gong Wan'er, Tang An, etc. Plus the author just bs'd the f*ck out the divine world. I didn't even know what was going on the last 30 chapters. He got a heart of world and somehow became the strongest? Like wtf?

I liked this novel at least the first half, Earth part is brilliant after that is slowly more and more disapointing, but the end if sumarized xianxia way is "total tr*sh". I can divide the story into three parts, not to say to much but earth, ascending and ending. The story quality drops significantly with 70% for earth, 25% second and optimistic 5% for the end to describe in my mind quality of the story, if to change the ratios I would substract from 3rd part and add to 1st.... more>> It's a shame for a good story to be destroyed, I could feel that author lost drive or divided atention to other activities, but I agree with the author to finish the story after 1400 and some chapters. <<less

Rating (as of now) : 2 stars for the effort on translating.

The start of the novel is just generic and nothing special. Though nothing special, it's still likable. However, as the story goes on, we can clearly see the immaturity and s*upidity of the author. His main character is supposed to be a 10, 000 years old immortal whose personality is ruthless, arrogant, and proud. But letting himself be scoffed at by others and not bothering with them? Total outright nonsense! The MC even panic, daze out at times which... more>> is totally different from what the author portrayed the MC as. This author can't manage his characters well, there's even random bullsh*t springing here and there that will make you think that the author is a child or the author is sick and can't think right and just write bs to fill a chapter. Oh and the dialogue is so forced that there's no basically life into it. The novel as of now is just like having a good cover with shitty contents.

I'm still at early chapters and try not to drop this, but right now I'm really trying hard to endure as this is really pissing me off. I'll continue reading and see if I can find any "good" points about this novel.

A KIND REMINDER: IF YOU HAVE HEART DISEASE AND CAN PROPERLY REFLECT ON WHAT'S WRITTEN AND NOT JUST BLINDLY READING, DON'T READ THIS NOVEL AS IT WILL SURELY GIVE YOU A HEART ATTACK. <<less

Fsss I really like the genre of modern day cultivation, but almost all the novels are very dissapointing.

Still, this novel was quite good for a modern day cultivation (more like 2, 5 stars) .

I really hope someday someone would write a good novel in this genre.

... more>> Anyway, many have talked about the bad and good things in this novel, so im not gonna talk in detail.

Im only gonna tell you 2 things I absolutely didnt like in this novel.

  1. The MC spend 1300/1400 chapters in earth, and meanwhile he only spend 100 chapters for his revenge in the immortal world and going to the peak of the next TWO realms. This novel should definetely be much longer, at least 1000+ chapters based on the content the author could have written. I dont know why he rushed this novel so much in the end.
  2. The attitude of the MC towards his friends, when he tells them about the immortal world, cultivation and such. For example, when MC gets ready to go to the immortal world he gathers some of his 'good friends' and tells them he is going to the immortal world to cultivate to immortality, BUT, he cannot take them with him because MC has his own path to walk and they have different paths to walk on. SO BASICALLY THE MC THINKS THAT ITS A GOOD THING TO TELL MY FRIENDS I AM GOING TO THE IMMORTAL WORLD BUT I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE YOU ALL WITH ME SO STAY HERE ON EARTH AND DIE OF OLD AGE. BECAUSE WHY NOT ?

I call that bullshit. He can easily take them with him but for some bullsh*t reason "YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PATH, WHILE I HAVE MINE", he doesnt take them with him. What a piece of shit. Better to not tell them anything and just leave in my opinion, instead you tell them about immortality and then leave them behind to die. F*ck you b*stard.

Spoiler

As for the last 150+

chapters after he leaves earth, im not even gonna talk about it since if I did, I would have to rate this novel 1 STAR. The last 150 chapters are f*ckING RIDICOULOUS.

Nothing matters anymore in these chapters.

I would suggest for anyone who reads this novel to only read the EARTH ARC, and then drop it.

I had done the same thing in the past due to all the negative comments, but recently I decided to finish the novel and boy do I regret it. So here is my advice. STAY THE f*ck AWAY FROM THE LAST 150 CHAPTERS AND ONLY READ THE EARTH ARC.

[collapse]

Anyway, here are some other good modern day cultivation/superpower novels.

    • TRANXENDING VISION
    • PEERLESS GENIUS SYSTEM
    • REBIRTH OF THE URBAN IMMORTAL CULTIVATOR
    • STRONGEST ABANDONED SON
    • ACE OF THE DRAGON DIVISION (Objectively I think this one is the best among modern day cultivation/superpower novels but ofcourse it depends on everyones preferences.)

Disappointed. Starts out fine. Interesting read even if it's a bit dragged on in Earth.

Towards the end? I think author quit and was replaced with a ghost writer. Plot holes everywhere for second half of the story.

The amount of times he 're-taught' cultivation or 'told his secret' to either his wives or family /friends just gets terrible.

Don't get me started on how characters are just fabricated out of nothing YET apparently 'met' the MC off-screen in prior chapters.
Spoiler

Such as every Buddhist cultivatior in one arc, apparently they all helped out in a prior arc against demonic beasts? Yet during that actual fight never were mentioned. It becomes worse when super powerful experts start showing up from nothing.

[collapse]

Let's just say. Author wrote this making it seem to be a 2500-3000 chapters story, yet around 900. Apparently the publisher told him finish it within 500 chapters so everything is jammed/rushed & information is even repeated or mistaken.

Here are my reasons I am a 5 Star:

  1. Story is engaging. I like the growth of the MC. The MC isn’t super strong off the bat. A few chapters goes by and he gets stronger. Then another dozen, and so on. I like an MC that grows in power with these kinds of stories. So if you do too, you will enjoy the read.
  2. The world building is detailed enough to not turn me off from lack of information. We know it’s very similar to our world. Course we know it’s got super beings since it’s about cultivators. I liked the blend of modern science and cultivators.
  3. The usage of cultivator ‘science’ to make profit in a modern world. Seriously good use of those ideas. Those body pills that make a cultivator go up in power = super profits to normal users. Wouldn’t you pay big $$$ for a safe and easy food that makes you almost Captain America level? I know I would... And the author does a good enough job that it seems to be a very believable way for our MC to make money. Or cultivator spells to sell etc. Things that we take for granted in a Xianxia/Wuxia world, our modern world would just go GAGA over.
  4. Supporting Characters are detailed and have lives of their own. Contrary to some negative reviews, he does go back to his roots. He does share his power with the ‘lesser’ of his old friends and allies. I’m at chapter 600 and I’m still seeing him being with his old allies and friends. He doesn’t just 100% abandon them. They do add enough support to his status that they are alive enough for me to groan and shake when they show up. That’s how annoying and lovable the supports are.
  5. Now... let me address the other issue: The EX. Big caps. Yes. the EX. And his emotional issues with it. Let me ask you this: After a 10k long relationship and if you get back stabbed, would you just brush it off and go ‘meh’ and bounce right back into falling in love again? I know I had issues with old relationships that broke off after a year. I couldn’t imagine what 10k years would do to my mind!! So in my view his actions of being cold and hard to fall in love again, would be a ‘reasonable’ response to love from his female harem wannabe girls. BUT, he’s NOT emotionally dead. He LOVES his mother. Deeply so. He does things to help his family members he cares about, people who show respect and care to him. He does the same. But as for love for a woman? He is very hurt and does keep his emotional distance in that regards. 10, 000 years of memories and betrayal does NOT just go away in a few months. YOU fall in love for a year and do you think you can forget that year in a few months or get over your emotions? Imagine being in love for 10000 years! He also does logically know his emotional state in regards to love is kind of wonked out. So he actually honestly tells his gals this. They respect it, but also still want to pursue him. Which again is a reasonable response.
  6. In the end, give this a few chapter read if you think those reasons are enough for you.

sorry for my bad english, and this is a completely personal review and with respect to drop this novel, I went ahead in the tl, the plot was "satisfactory" but I prefer to forget it because I know it will come to this:

Spoiler

In the end our MC forgives his ex that betrayed him, and the betrayal was because tang xiu's parents in the immortal world kill the master's family of qing wu, to which she marries him wanting to kill him, final she does it with the help of her teacher offering rewards to her friends (obviously she was the one who contacted them) then she commits su*cide because she came to love him and looks for him in chaos, etc, etc. The worst the only son we know is of her with the MC, she is forgiven because she saves him at the cost of wanting to give her life, but for me she already lost the opportunity, if she really loved him she could have killed herself before killing the MC, or telling him everything, he was powerful in that time must be able to do something to fix it, but she decides to betray him and then when she recovers her memories she wants to give her life for him.

I dislike the cold behavior that gave most of the members of the harem throughout the series to finally forgive whoever hurt him the most, he had so many opportunities to kill her but he decides to forgive her, the contrast between how he behaves made me want to leave the story

[collapse]

the novel is regular if you omit the low level of emotional IQ of the MC, it is not dense but it has a very strong emotional scar that hinders the romance in most of the work, apart from that there are easy problems that make them great problem, but it is a passable reading, unfortunately not my taste <<less

After pondering for a moment, Tang Xiu said, "Let me say it this way! The affections between a man and a woman are precisely a burden, and I hate to have this kind of burden. This is the reason why I'm unlikely to find a girlfriend. In the case that I feel like having descendants to carry on my ancestral line, then I'll just casually try to find a woman to marry. I only need her to bear my child. There's no need to think and talk about affections whatsoever."

Romance:... more>> (be careful of the spoilers)
Spoiler

No romance seen so far, a lot of girls love him because he is mysterious and they are curious but he is a stone. The author seems to be adding the "Harem-romance" on this novel just to get more readers. The MC has reasons to not love or trust anybody since he was killed by his lover and friends, but as a reader is kinda annoying to read his coldness and seeing him being so dense towards any women.

Chapter 255, finally he lost his v**ginity. Reverse r*pe.

[collapse]

The author really likes to beat around the bush and is very racist.
Spoiler

When the MC went to his island, some people were kidnaped by pirates and a lot of women were r*ped, all of those women (raped) were from JP.

UPDATE 1

5 stars for the first 50 chapters, 4 stars for the first 100 chapters, now... the novel is getting really boring, from 100 ahead, the plot becomes really repetitive and EVERY character besides the MC feels like a side-character that only exist for the MC,

The MC doesn't trust females, YEAH, women. He acts really gay tbh, he says that he has no problem if that woman is willing to have s*x with him but he refuses when the woman really wants to do it. That's because he was betrayed by his lover in his past life, I can understand that but he trust EVERYONE, but not women. (In the way where they can interact with his life, he rejects every women that tries to approach him)

The author keeps adding new characters: young masters and their backer, without reason. If that's the true modern world, we are doomed to be in chaos.

This novel had potential but the author wasted it.

I'm not an english native so there may be some typos or problems on the text, sorry for that. <<less

Ok, so this novel was not bad until about chapter 300, but then it was all downhill from there.

The novel seems to have no direction. It's almost as if Tang Xiu is playing some open-world game where he's just completing random quests. He just randomly wanders around China, going from Beijing to Shanghai to Jingmen Island like 500 times just to solve a random ass problem that has nothing to do with the story. Furthermore, EVERY character in this story is bland af. They are either an enemy or a... more>> friend, no in between, making the characters extremely linear. So we have a weird mix of linear characters and chaotic story and this goes on till like chapter 1200 where he ascends to the immortal world.

It couldn't get worse right? Well, it does, a lot worse. The immortal world can be summed up in 1 chapter literally. All the bs about his revenge in the immortal world and his relationships, literally a 50 chapter story. There was almost no detail at all.

Some other things:

  • The supposed "cultivation" in this novel is absolutely horrible so do not even bother to expect some ISSTH type shit
  • Harem isn't horrible, and I kinda liked the relationship between Tang Xiu and his old wife
  • There is ALOT of dialogue in this novel, almost as if the author was trying to reach a quota per chapter, it's annoying because sometimes its really not necessary
  • The author has no pacing at all so be prepared.
I've done quite a number of reviews on Chinese novels (most of which I've fully completed, or atleast 1000+ chapters), but I've never given a one-star before. Guess there's always a first. <<less

It is one of those novel which has very high potential but at the end turned out to be a failure.

This one obviously better than lots of generic novel and it is one of those modern novel which is able to create the world building with maturity & seriousness around our MC. Then again it has the POTENTIAL but it is failed to deliver it.

This novel mainly focuses on cultivation of MC, how to get rich /establish company, then again harem is the main part of this novel. As usual... more>> our MC keep meeting with new girls after every 20-30 chapters & initially it is still good because even it is forced but there is a story behind every girl and MC. But after 600 chapters things started to change, every thing just feels like a bit too casual, not just in terms of HAREM but also in the story plot every thing just become too easy for our MC and it also starts to make the story worse.

Overall u can try it for first 500 chapters but that's all trying more than 600 chapters will make you feel bored to death.

Mild spoiler on his betrayed first life women--->
Spoiler

may be after 500 chps u only reed it to know the reason behind the betrayal... (because she is only women our MC loves from his heart & also his reason behind rejecting /refusing to give his heart to other girls).... and when you finally get to know the reason..... it feels like, it is too much cheap from author, making u wait 900--1000 chps just to make you feel frustrated, the reason behind the betrayal is very very common reason and our mc's reaction on that as well as the plot revealing the reason behind the betrayal is so much casual that it will make u frustrated to the core... even making u question "why did u even choose to read this!!!"

Oh boy does this novel become tr*sh. Realized it was finished so planned to come back and knock it out of my hiatus list.

Similar issue to my first time reviewing I got to chapter 690 after that I hated it and started to skim, currently up to 1010 and its just mind numbing to read. MC has a whine when his favourite subordinates get injured then when asked by the OP backing characters if he wants them to deal with it you get "No, I want them to train on... more>> the brink of life and death".

I can't even remember the last time the MC's cultivation grew a stage and yet he is always inexplicably stronger than those around him.

Contains the garbage plot a lot of these types of novels seem to love where the MC is somehow incapable of dealing with an Aphrodisiac poison and then sleeps with a partially unwilling individual.

Speaking of plots, the Shanghai university plot is basically pointless as he is never there. He runs a company of which is supposed to be amazing and earning lots of money, yet every other chapter "Oh no, we're low on funds, plz help". Even now in an emergency situation he gets distracted by the most minor things.

At this point even though I want to just finish it so I can never think about it again, but I don't know if there is enough motivation to read another ~430 chapters of this tr*sh.

Edit (31/08/2020) : I pushed through to complete the novel, rushed as hell as soon as he goes to the Immortal Realm, massive time skips. The evil antagonists are super weak and the fight with them ends in like 2 chapters. The final final arc is over in around 12 chapters, it was like the writer had a target number of chapters, spent ages procrastinating on earth and then couldn't fit in the rest, MC has a Power Level skip of around 6 levels at one point.

My suggestion would be not to read this, although it starts off fun it just became a chore to read and my only motivation was to finally get it out of my reading lists.

First Review
Spoiler

I was honestly a bit confused by the reviews when I began reading this as it was somewhat enjoyable and I kept reading to 690.

That being said like a fair few of the comments said the MC is blindingly weak to women despite having experienced 10000 years and stating how he will never be able to give someone his love. I was somewhat fine with this as some of the interests have interesting characters until one character, literally the most annoying and pushy character in the story yet the MC acts like some h**ny teenager.

Ill be putting this story on my hiatus list until more chapters come out and I'm willing to try read it again.

Read it for the funny translation. The typos and grammatical errors is a hoot. Wonderful laughs and frustration trying to understand what the hell it mean.

The story... eh, has been done much better elsewhere. It's a rehash of same themes from other stories. It actually look similar to Rebirth of the Urban Immortal. Similar story line.
