[This is an everlasting love story.]

The second son of the Count family, Tullius Shernan Oubeniel, was a person who reincarnated from modern day Japan. That is, a person who has a single experience of death. With no understanding as to how he was reincarnated, he thought that perhaps, he might be reincarnated next time in the same way. Yet, his fear of death was greater than anything – above that, he could only do things such that he avoids death. Peculiar to this world were certain kinds of magic and one of them was alchemy. Choosing this class of magic, he was said to be able to attain perpetual youth and longevity. With that as his only salvation and goal, he had to reach out his hand towards the deepest secrets of alchemy and did so as though it was the only way for him to live. Even if there were sacrifices to be made for that end.

A s*ave maid admired him from his youth. A Count family. Adventurer. s*ave. Citizen. Aristocrat. Country. Humans. Other beings that were not human…… Just because of one man’s delusional obsessions, many lives were changed, warped, torn apart. Even then, Tullius’s footsteps never knew pause. Everything was so that he could reach the forever he longed for.

Story: Narritive cake, Its has no substance but still enjoyable.
I certainly got annoyed sometimes but I ran out of Overlord volumes so I'm grasping at straws for good-acceptable LN's to read.

This story uses & abuses the Idiot Plot. (Google OSP Idiot Plot for a fun explanation of it)
Main character always wins because "beeg brayne" and alchemy is omnipotent but disregarded by everyone in the setting for no reason.

I wouldn't go out of my way to read this novel but if you are waiting for a new release... more>> of something else or you are running out of content to shove in your brain like me it's something I guess. <<less

MC is evil.

my stomach aches just reading the story since the MC is so cruel. Such a vile man and disgusting man, but ultimately, I understand his reasoning for being vile.

cant say too much since I'm like 25 chapters or so in, but the author does a pretty nice job at making you hate or feel disgust for the main character.

In short, its good.

It is a character driven story through and through with the excitement and interest being how the MC interacts with the world and how the people around him react to it.

The MC is a villian but there is no hero in this story, so rather than it being about a grand villian who meets his eventual demise it is sufficient to say that the story is about a devil who toys with the world.

The only flaw in this story is that it has far too much info... more>> dumping but truly a lot of it is actually interesting but its not really necessary to enjoy the story, personally I would just remove it all and the story would in fact be better but its personal preference at the end of the day. <<less

The novel like many reviews points out has great potential and some interesting ideas, in special on the JP market where most MC are dense kids with weak will, OP tourists.

The MC started a very clear objective, become Immortal. As well a valid motivation, the pain of his previous death scarred him, and the will to do whatever it take to do so. Without any special gold finger system or OP powerup, so he needs to use his previous life maturity to reach his goal even if involves unethical experiments,... more>> with social and political manipulations should be par of course on such weak MC.

And at the start, it is seen that will deliver on that, but it quick devolves into Mary Sue Edgy edition, with the MC being able to pull ridiculous feats with minimal experience or knowledge, at least some others MC have the excuse of being evil OP prior being reincarnated but MC here was just a normal modern kid, another point that seen to be just setting dressing without much impact (as most novels).

There are other common problems like info dumps and lack of character development with minimal characters interactions, some deus-exmachina and idiot-ball moments. However it does delivery a somewhat fresh view on the genere and some interesting plot points that is different than the average that make it worth you read it.

As for more personal dislikes, like most evil MC novels I always have the impression that some actions the MC takes are just to show how evil and emotionless the MC is despise advancing little his plans and some cases causes long term problems. While the brainwashing destroys the side characters, to dolls, even if was surprising well used to show how fearful the MC inner state is.

But overall is a novel worth reading, most of it's flaws are common elsewhere on the sea of sameness, which has a spark of interesting ideas but doesn't expect to be as good as the ratings show. <<less

It started out fine as the MC was an overpowered cunning person who would do everything to avoid death. However, he s**ked for everything else as he would treat everyone around him as either tools or obstacles for his cause. He never tried his best to protect people who cared about him the most (e.g. Uni his beloved maid, and the mc's brother during his childhood which later led to his animosity towards the mc). His indulgence in experimentation made him a subject of doubt regarding his meaning of existence... more>> other than for research on immortality. I'm not impressed by the story in which everything was about the mc's success in research or increasing his test subjects and how he unsurprisingly dealt with troubles without a sweat, even though he could have avoided them beforehand. <<less

Take a cup of tea and some sugar before reading this because this novel dark enough yet good one.

-- why? Because the MC of this novel emotionless scum, you can call sort of he is like mental asylum patient that brought to isekai world. His objective pursuit immortality and he does anything to reach his goal.. Even mean turn into devil, make him fit enough to be a role of crazy evil prof villain in certain story like spiderman 2.. No its far more than that. Yet we got him... more>> as MC.

-- talk about character development, this novel strong point would be it..
Spoiler

altho MC did brainwashing all of them so it is count as development?

[collapse]

-- plot is moving steadly and certainly progressing. Its similliar to overlord who MC take role as villain, well its more worst reason than ainz.
Spoiler

for sake get more experiment subject!

[collapse]
not mention his subordinate reason of loyalty.

-- at last, why im reviewing like this annoying cz certain chapter on novel, and its fun to me. Overall I do enjoying this but I wont recommend this for people who cant hold on of evil MC. <<less

After a lot of time not logging into novelupdates. This story made me login. Not for a good reason though. Btw translation was superb quality, no doubts about that. The story on the other hand left a lot wanting.

The plot armour for the MC is so thick the whole story just feels like a plot armour.

  1. Despite nobles assassinating, duping and insulting one another. They were to scared to kill of a few
    Spoiler

    revolutionaries?

    [collapse]
. Okay, maybe thats because it was MC territory. Like, why. MC does weird (for non-modern people) things and everyone simply accepts while if a villain character even sits differently, everyone goes straight for the kill.
  2. MC uses weird af logic. If all nobles are equal in front of the law, whats the use of heirarchy? Apparently, MC is equal to his superior noble? Weird af logic was presented, clearly and easily tamperable evidence btw, yet the judge immediately accepts it at face value.
  3. In one of the scenes, villain presents evidence (a paid off woman), MC says the woman has possibly been paid off, judge agrees, all her statements are worthless. MC similarly presents evidence (witness), but everyone agrees with him. I'm like huh? Why is MC witness fine but not Villainous characters?
  4. MC makes friends/allies very easily despite being anti-culture, not powerful, hates everyone. Villain who is very powerful, is well versed in culture, has a legacy in politics and power is betrayed by everyone.
Basically in most of the story, the whole things was basically plot armour.

Even outside of that the story makes it very uncomfortable. Like vague discriptions of s*xual scenes, s*xual violence and more. If it was part of the story, then it would be acceptable for the plot but there was literally no reason for it. The people are forgotten and the only purpose it shows is the damage it caused. I am a few volumes in and it has made little sense as to why they were written so 'barf' disgusting ways.

BTW when I say plot armour, what I mentioned was the extra part, I'm not even going to proceed to explain what he did in the story where everyone accepts him while those who dont are villains.

Yes I know the MC is evil character but in a sense of view that the author displays, he is far better than others, even a hero for much of the side characters, which is weird considering what he does to them.

BAsically, villain does something bad-everyone wants the villain dead, hero does something bad-everyone ignores it or the hero is too op (MC).

It's quite good.

It abuses quite a bit the "my way is best way" method, turning everything into a plot, but the solutions, while not the best as claimed, are not dumb.

The character dynamics are fun, and the main character doesn't soften.

My main issue is the politics, which while do present an engaging story, fail at the dialogue level. Few of the "hidden messages behind the words" are actually written. It exploits the ability of the narrator of explaining that there is a subtext without trying to include it in the... more>> dialogue.

Overall a good read, I hope it gets picked up. <<less

It's a story about a mad scientist psychopath, what did I expect?
I hate the main cast, every single one them, except for "Opus-02" (I genuinely feel sorry for him).
Even with that I would still give it a 8/10 precisely because of that, because I was not left indifferent toward the characters.

If I had to point one thing I didn't like in the story so far, it would be the MC's character development (not the body, but the mind)
At this point (c25) even his 'tools' have more... more>> variety to their emotion than the MC.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that he should change his morals, but be it for better or worst, he should change his thought process from what he experiences as a living being (is he even alive?). <<less

I love this novel, being one of the few actually ruthless MC who's also evil due to this.

He's also a mad scientist type of character, just really sad the author been on hiatus all this time, if he ever comes back before we reach the raw chapters, that'll be great.

The story is very dark and very gritty. It's also though provoking truly shows you a dark alternate world fantasy.

Unfortunately, it's not for me. While I do like the concept, it later on got quite boring for me since it seems like there aren't any challenges. It has its charms but just not what I'm looking for, though I do suggest you give it a try.

Chapters are really long too.

Tullius Shernan Oubeniel's "Three Laws of Monsters" does not equal to Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics"

First Law: A monster may not injure the master or, through inaction, allow the master to come to harm.

Second Law: A monster must obey the orders given it by the master except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Third Law: A monster must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

It's so dark I love it. MC is the villain in the story which you can see from the novel description so if you're not into MC that does human experimentation on s*aves, be they be good s*aves or bad ones, and not be bothered by it then I suggest not reading this really good novel. MC is cold and calculating and actually isn't an idiot but the best part is that the writer doesn't drag the story by explaining the technical difficulties and every process and thought that come... more>> from making his inventions. For example a lot of novels go into unnecessary details on how they make a gun in a fantasy magical world like the gun can only shoot for a few times before the barrel explodes or something and then they'd write 1-3 chapters on how they fix the problem blah blah blah basically my point is the writer of this novel doesn't do but instead use time skips and momentarily point out some problems that occurred but have been fixed by then without explaining 1-3 more chapters on how the MC resolve said problems. Very clear and short which allows the writer to flesh out the MCs enemies and his somewhat mind controlled allies (Basically the MC doesn't fully mind control them but just make it so that they emotionally don't want to do anything that can hurt the MC) so that they don't feel bland and boring.

Edit/I forgot to mention but another great thing about this novel is that the chapters are actually long although it only have 42 chapters right now it took me a whole week to binge through it but I do have one complaint I NEED MORE CHAPTERS GODAMNIT
T-T

jk thx for the chaps <<less

Was a little skeptical whether this novel would be interesting or not, but it completely took me back as I read on. Really love the characters and the storyline, at first I thought it was just a mad scientist focusing on his main goal, but quickly changed as the story thickens.

The protagonist is seriously the scum of all scums. A big paranoid hypocrite. Definitely a villain. I wish I could give this novel a 1 Star just for the protagonist but unfortunately the story was written well. So I will be settling with 4 stars. One star less just for how despicable the protagonist is.
