The fat cat Black Tubby said, “Supreme Commander is a good person, meow!”

The bird Grandfather Sparrow said, “Supreme Commander is a good person, chirp!”

The little mouse Oil Jar also said, “Supreme Commander is a good person, squeak!”

Furthermore, the weasel Great Immortal said, “You and Supreme Commander are a match made in Heaven~”

All of the little animals told Ning Xiaoyao about Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander, Supreme Commander! So, Ning Xiaoyao believed that this Supreme Commander named Lou Zigui had to be a good guy. As to whether or not they were a match made in Heaven…

The fat cat Black Tubby clawed at Ning Xiaoyao. “You wrote the decree sentencing Supreme Commander to death in the execution grounds, ah! You fatuous, self-indulgent ruler!!!”

Ning Xiayao replied, “…”

Ning Xiaoyao is a genetically evolved army doctor from a zombie-infested apocalyptic world. One day, she transmigrates to the past as the next emperor of an ancient country. But wait, isn’t she a girl?!

As it turns out, she’s a disguised stand-in for her baby brother under the “loving” care of the empress dowager, her mother and future mu*derer. Faced with her impending death, Ning Xiaoyao must thwart the schemes of her family to survive in a palace allied against her. But how does a zombie-killing expert with supernormal strength, healing powers, and the ability to understand animals deal with the intricacies of court politics?

“If nothing else works, I’ll just beat them all up!”

Even though I like the story, I don't like the main character because her personality is just annoying.

At the beginning, right when she transmigrated, she wanted to kill people, which I found s*upid to do without even knowing your situation. Then, suddenly she came a holy saint who doesn't kill anyone even when they try to kill her. Even then, her holiness is useless because the ML kills those people behind her back.

Besides that, she is s*upid and can't think for herself, and she is always relaying on the ML,... more>> who is not even trustworthy. She completely trusts him even though she came from the apocalypse, which only serves as filler.

Also, the author tries to force their feelings for each other, which seems fake at some point, and sometimes you can't even tell if the MC really loves the ML. And the author obviously put some s*upid reason for jealousy to express their "love", which seems even more fake. And the ML also doesn't really loves her and continues to hide things from her because he thinks he should take responsibility because he slept with her once and she is a girl. Except for the crappy jealousy they show, there is nowhere else that portrays their feelings for each other.

In a way, it is a good story and I recommend it to those who like MC like her. <<less

Listen... it's funny... but only if you can shut your brain off.

The premise makes no sense, her powers make no sense, the MC is dumb as a door and if you consider the character's actions, the male lead is a bastard manipulator usurping her little by little and the MC is the most broke, powerless and s*upid emperor, ever. Which has no work btw. She just fools arounds all day.

So, as long as you don't take the story seriously, there'll be some laughs. That being said, it does wears off... more>> after some dozen chapters. There's no character progression and the plot is s*upid, just like the novel overall.

Recomendation: Read until you get tired of it, while shutting you brain off, for some gags. <<less

This novel is hilarious! I just love that the female lead has animal friends to gather info for her which makes them inconspicuous. Her intels are the best! Although she's pretty dumb, I think it's understandable since she grew up in a zombie-infested dimension. I don't think that you need schemes and calculations to kill a bunch of brainless creatures who are slower than senior citizens.

Spoiler

On the other hand, as much as I love and adore the female lead, I'm slowly starting to hate the male lead. Okay, I get his situation and his feelings toward Xiaoyao's bloodline but still. Why does his recent actions look like he's taking her for granted? Xiaoyao's innocent and gullible despite her supernatural powers but that doesn't mean he can just use her status as the emperor to scheme behind her back. Although he makes sure that Xiaoyao's safety is prioritized but still... Augh! They still look good and cute together! The hell?!

If you love historical novels (with a female protag) with tons of scheming, but wished there was more of a comedic atmosphere to those stories, then this is the novel for you.

This is the story of a genetically enhanced combat medic (with magical healing powers as well as the ability to communicate with animals) from a zombie infested post-apocalyptic world, who was unexpected transmigrated into the body of the newly inaugurated (is this even the right term to be used for an emperor?) emperor (whom is also a crossdressing female)... more>> of an ancient country.

A story filled with dastardly machinations of the royal court, with tons of comedic moments mixed in. I don't know whether I should laugh or feel angry. <<less

Chapter 214: 1.5/5

I wanted to write a review after finishing it but... I expected a lot more seeing the high ratings but all I got is a dumbass of an MC eith inhumane powers (as expected of volare novels) and a manipulative jerk ass ML. All I feel is rage reading this, she's all muscle and no brain. She's gullible, dumb and naive- I bet as f*ck that the Author only used the apocalypse to write an MC with, as I said, inhumane powers and didn't think through what would... more>> happen next. I dint blame author bec I do that as well, but really?? She's too naive that I just want to pull my hair. Was actually waiting for her to have a character development like JRIC but it seems impossible given how shithead she is.

ML is a manipulative b*tch. I once saw him in a good light because he's sweet in the beginning, but he did something that MC for hell wouldn't like but he still went on for it and everythibg went downhill ever since. Once someone bad did sonethibg I cant ever see him ib a good light again no matter the aweetness or care he puts. Also, He's sweet now but its like 10% sweetness and 90% manipulation. He's taking liberties at the fact that she trust him and deliberately keeps important things from her and had it not been for the animals, well- she would be f*cked up. Also they did the deed again ahahha so much for being a gentleman huh.

Speaking of animals, all of them are good with the exception of Black Tubby. He's 20% comedic relief and 80% supreme commander and praising ML for whatever he did 24/7 even if its wrong that it's rlly rlly annoying. For exanole ML hid something from her again and this cat says 'Dont blame him, he's my Supreme commander!' and this bit*h is just 'Ok ok' LIKE bit*h WHAT THE f*ck

Hehe, ok so I v rarely curse the MC, but she's worth cursing for. The only saving point of this novel is MC's scolding the enemies ++ the animals. (the only thibg she good at is her powers and her scolding, everything else is shit.)

Complete: 1.5➡️1.0

The 1 percent is for the comedic relief. Everyone is the same as always, with very little character development which is mostly Vlack tubby, good thing he hates ML now.

Spoiler

Ending is very rushed and I have never before wanted in my life wanted to never let the MC and ML to never meet again. I wish he died, everything would have been better with his death. ML still manipulative but hey, not only he is a manipulative bit*h but also will abandon the person he "loves" for power! Ha ha! Even guilt tripping MC saying he was "just a day late" for sending the troop when he in fact deliberately stayed in Anyuan city risking MC's life because "she's strong"! bloody f*cking bit*h I wanted to kill him so bad. And this bit*h of an MC BELIEVED HISBDJJAJHA bullshit. Myghad.

He does not deserve MC. And while he regretted it, let us all know that there is no medicone for regret. MC is dumbass, naive, ML is manipulative and can risk everything for the sake of power. Such a pair, how did the author even came up with it?

[collapse]

This is bullshit. Not recommended. But if you want to read a toxic pair you can read it. <<less

I am fine with historical + comedy but this is just to UGH.

Recommended? NO.

The FL is plain annoying and the ML is manipulative. The story is just NO. Just NO.

The premise sounds complicated but it's actually easy to follow in the novel.

The soul of a fighter medic from an apocalyptic zombie world has transmigrated into the new Emperor in ancient China.

Except that the Emperor is actually a female put on the throne by her mother, the evil Empress Dowager and her grandfather, the Grand Preceptor. The villains are waiting until the Empress Dowager's baby son can be old enough to take the throne, at which point they'll... more>>
Spoiler

poison the Emperor and take over outright.

[collapse]

In the first chapter, the transmigrated soul opens her eyes and she is sitting on the Dragon Throne while the evil Grand Preceptor and Empress Dowager are trying to kill off the loyal Generals and guards. It is only the second day of her imperial reign. Coming from a zombie world where human lives are precious and rare, and Emperor runs around the Capital saving people and wreaking havoc with all the villains' plans.

Because humans have had to evolve in the zombie infested world, Emperor has the ability to heal, talk to animals, and super strength. These powers were ported over with her. Unlike other novels, the Emperor is not all-powerful. She inherits a weakened throne and all the military might is in the villians' hands. How she uses her abilities is part of what makes the story so fun to read.

A lot of the fun in this novel is the Emperor's direct and honest value system - where others try to scheme against her, she just straightforwardly does what is right. The nation has been falling apart and she is there to fix things and help the common people. She discovers the wrongs done by her father, and fixes them.

However, because she grew up in an apocalyptic era where life is precious but short, she is very direct. She doesn't have any knowledge of the extensive rites, customs and laws of Ancient China. Unlike the scholars in her court, she didn't spent 10 years studying classic texts. It's because of this that the Supreme Commander (the hero) has to re-word/carry out her orders in a way that everyone else can understand. As the Emperor puts it, enemy zombies are easy to understand. The devious and complex minds of live humans, are difficult for her to decipher. Her heart is in the right place, though.

The other fun part is all the talking animals. There are no secrets in the Imperial Palace when the mice, birds, falcons, cats, etc. are all watching. Even the ants can
Spoiler

enter and tell her about the secret torture chambers of her enemies.

[collapse]

Everyone keeps asking me why I'm laughing while reading - the 24 brushes, the pickled vegetable jars, the way she talks back to the Empress Dowager, Second Master Ning - the story is just hilarious. One of the things that I also love is that the Emperor is constantly eating or snacking because there was no good food in the apocalyptic era and she is frequently
Spoiler

healing people hurt by her enemies or her father.

[collapse]

The male lead, the Supreme Commander, is an honest, loyal soldier. However, we learn that over the years, the Grand Preceptor's schemes have killed off the Supreme Commander's parents, brothers, and most of the honest and loyal officials in court. Being honest and loyal only led to the Supreme Commander being on the execution grounds. In order to protect the Emperor, the Supreme Commander starts being ethically ambiguous in his dealings. This may be something readers may not be comfortable with. However, when the Emperor learns, she's okay with it for most of the novel.

The best part is the first 70%, when it focuses on the Emperor talking to animals, eating nonstop, and driving her political enemies crazy from the palace with her antics. The focus is on the Emperor, who values human lives, saves people, and her and her entourage rack their brains constantly to outmaneuver and outscheme their enemies in court.

After that, the rebellion/opposition erupts into
Spoiler

civil war, and the military men around the Emperor start killing large numbers of people mercilessly. It gets to be a bit much. In the earlier parts of the novel, they spend chapters trying to inconvenience their enemies. Once the civil war erupts, all the gloves come off and there is wholesale slaughter all over the place.

Around this time, the OTP separates. When the male lead is supposed to race back to the capital to save the female lead, he hesitates because of his men and teacher, knowing that she'll be safe herself but possibly lose the throne that she never wanted (and can't stay on long term b/c she's female), and this is his chance go get the country under control, and his hesitation breaks their relationship. He was only concerned about whether she lived or died, and knew that no matter what, she'd survive, so he went the conquering mode. But he sacrificed the common people to do so... After some heartache and maturing, and about a year of suffering, and tying up empty plot threads (like the male lead's surviving brother, his sick nephew, her identity, even Black Boss' female cat) it's a happy ending.

[collapse]

When I re-read the novel, I notice that there is a lot of time and plot devoted to Elder Li, the animals, the generals, etc. at the first 70% of the novel. The last chapter/ending is very rushed. I would have liked to see what happens when the generals realize
Spoiler

she is alive, when Elder Li realizes she is alive, when her animal friends in the capital realize she is alive, how she explains her resemblance as the Fourth Miss Ning to the deceased Emperor, and Miss Ji's baby.

[collapse]

I really enjoyed the initial humour and the secondary characters, including the new characters introduced near the end, and although the romance/male lead

falls apart near the end

To be fair, this novel's plot was quite interesting but after reading it till the end, I also get it why so many reviewers cursed ML. Even I couldn't help myself to rant about him.

Spoiler

ML was a big liar, manipulative, ruthless, sinister, and selfish ba*tard but I know that he didn't become like this without any reason. His families were indirectly slaughtered by the former emperor, leaving only his sickly nephew and his oldest brother (Lou Jing) who was imprisoned in Northern Hu; his best friend and his family, the crown prince, were killed by Empress Dowager Xie and Grand Preceptor, Xie Wenyuan. So I also get it why he became like that.

But still I couldn't forgive how he betrayed MC when she needed him the most. I know that his conscience was back not long after but it almost costed so many lifes, including MC and her companions. If MC didn't lure the rebels and Northern Hu's soldiers, the capital probably couldn't hold back any longer. MC managed to instigate conflict between the rebels and Northern Hu so when ML's troops came, he didn't do much to eradicate both of enemies.

And after that, he actually could become a new emperor. I don't know how he could persuade MC's trusted aids such as Pei Yu, Pei Yan, Elder Li, etc because obviously they hated him to the bone after he betrayed MC, resulting MC's fake death.

After learning about MC's fake death, ML actually regretted it and even had thought of taking his own life so he could follow MC's step. But only after a few months, he came to know that MC was still alive and he chased her right away. And it only took him a few days to coax MC to be with him again.

Ugh, I agree that he wasn't suffered enough. He even had the audacity to defend himself for only being 1 day late in front of MC. What a j*rk. MC really deserved better.

[collapse]

As for MC, I think she's quite likeable although sometimes I'm annoyed by her kindness. She was always showed mercy towards her enemies but it often wasn't appreciated. She was also a bit naive, totally unsuitable for ancient era. That's why she could be deceived by ML over and over again.

But I also think that MC's character was realistic. She came from apocalypse era where zombies were her only enemies. She could be ruthless towards zombies because they weren't human anymore but she couldn't be as ruthless when she faced a living human being. In apocalypse era, human being was precious so that's why although she was omnipotent, ahe couldn't have a heart to killed other people even though they were her enemy. Also in her previous life, killing zombies didn't require many schemes, either you killed or got eaten. Meanwhile in ancient time, she couldn't kill anyone without any reason and she couldn't directly use her fist to solve problems. When she was still an emperor, ML often helped her doing the scheme.

They actually could become a good partner in governing the country. ML was too ruthless while MC was too kind. They really complemented each others. But although they're a good partner, it didn't mean that they're a good match. I think MC was more compatible with someone like Pei Yan. Although Pei Yan had a venomous mouth, he was a loyal and honest man. His eccentric personality also fitted with MC's. Too bad, Pei Yan already had a wife.

Overall, I enjoy this story very much but I'm a bit disappointed because the ending was so rushed. There were still so many loose ends in the end of the story.

Spoiler
    • ML finally managed to become an emperor and took MC as an empress but with her face that was so similar to the dead emperor, how did the people who used to know her react after seeing her face? The officials could surely recognized her (especially Elder Li), let alone people in the palace.
    • Xiang Tiange had potential to be 2nd ML. He already expressed his interest towards MC and even wanted to follow MC travelling around the world but suddenly he became ML's ally and even helped him fending off the enemies. I don't know his reason why he didn't follow MC in the end. There were also no news about his siblings, Erya and Xiaoqiu.
    • What about the empress? Did she finally give birth safely?
    • What about Tao Yan? After leading the troops to fight rebels, he wasn't mentioned again till the end of the story. Poor Tao Yan.
    • ML told MC's father that he wanted to invade Northern Hu but in the end, Northern Hu only gave him a tribute. One of the tribute was Xie Weiyuan's head (he died just like that?). Did ML forget about how Mogou (Northern Hu's leader) tortured Lou Jing for years until he became unrecognizable? He was also the one who slaughtered ML's families back then so ML should hate him as much as he hated Xie Wenyuan, right?
    • What about Xie Wenyuan's 2 other sons that managed to escape, Xie Anyi and Xie Anshi? Did they die with Xie Wenyuan?
    • What about Prince Cheng's (MC's nomimal brother) whereabout?

The MC is pretty entertaining, though you may get sick of it soon.

So everything is great.... except for one thing.... the male lead is the worst piece of sh*t in the whole world.

I mean, what a piece of shit.

... more>> He doesn't deserve the MC, at all. There is absolutely no redeeming feature about him, and he stays the exact same sh*t character you read at the beginning, to the very end.

And the worst part is that they still get together at the end? No, he doesn't deserve her. He doesn't change at all. He's just the same selfish shitty edgelord he was at the beginning of the series to the end.

I mean if he actually had character development, it would be good, but my god, he's in soo much of this as the ML, that I had to down grade my rating of the series to 3, simply because, man, he is such a piece of sh*t human.

He is just as bad as the throw-up inducing indulging ML's doting "black bellies of reverse harem series, or the ML's that are always for some reason, 10000000x times better than the females, and the females always need the ML's help, because for some reason, they always lose their badass ness. Oops, a rant for another day.

If you can withstand the fact that the ML is suuuuupppppeeeerrrr shitty, and that they get together at the end despite how shitty he is, and how much of a terrible relationship this is (I guess it's not if you are a clueless teenage girl who love abusive to the point of r*pe-y and or manipulative lying male figures, which I assume is the target audience for this series), yeah go ahead.

But if the ML is your type of dream man, I suggest you go reconsider your values. <<less

The MC is too annoying to me. She just let her minor enemies and allies kick her around as she just stand there forgiving them. I mean yah ain't no saint and their kicking around is seriously beyond humane. She would've died seriously a couple times.

Then there was her lover who kept using her as bait to his plan even though some of it would've killed her if she wasn't immortal like when he made act like she was killed by the empress by poisoning her and slitting her throat and the goal was to frame the empress's eunuchs. The cost was big because of the pain of being slit but the bargain was small. What can a couple eunuch can really do to the empress. As long as her own child is alive she is still a threat.

The MC is shameless and there are funny moments. But I really can't take her character much longer. She's probably the definition of brawn before brains. Her interactions with the elder and the commander just really pisses me off. All her dialogue to me sounds like a immature 6 year old. I thought I had seen shameless characters before... but this is really the most shameless MC I've ever seen!

Little bits of romance (hilarious because the Male and Female lead are never on the right wavelength, but still enjoy being together), with plot as the Female lead strongly and naively makes waves and changes the dynasty.

Especially since she is an enhanced human (superstrength, healing powers, can talk to animals) who also came from a zombie apoclapyse kind of world. The male lead is also not a major as*hole which is always a plus. He gets flustered and a few times upset at MC due to misunderstandings (ie she accidentally feeds them both an aphrosidac and has very modern prespective on what happens but he's very much traditional and intends to do the 'honorable thing'. Except everyone currently thinks she's a male cause her mother and grandfather dressed her up as one in order to take the throne...). He is overall very competent and rolls with MC's quirks well though.

Warning: There is a few chapters that squicked me out due to explicit cannabilism. It's when she first meets the refugees and they're starving so... (think snowpiercer). But for the most part they don't really discuss cannabilism in detail beyond the MC going 'this or that is at least not a zombie trying eating people' kind of thing.

Well the protagonist certainly is... different from the usual. To put it simply, she's a musclehead. She has no idea what's going on and how to act, but doesn't even bother trying to figure it out. Her background, which could have been interesting, really only serves as an excuse for her to be so fearless that she doesn't bother thinking at all. She has all these animals who evidently know more about the inner courts than her, and gains a few allies who can excuse her ignorance with the explanation... more>> that she just took the throne so she isn't used to things, but instead of using that by making everyone sit down and tell her everything from A to Z so she can plan ahead, she just stubbornly bu*t heads with her opponents with a 'hah, you can't kill me anyway, I killed zombies!' attitude, starts smashing things, then pretends nothing happened, which she gets away with only because she's the emperor.

I guess this could be funny if this is your cup of tea. Personally, I can't identify with a protagonist who doesn't even try to understand her surroundings when thrown into a different world. <<less

You have probably watched the video "Let's get ridiculous" by Redfoo (if you havent go its good and funny) Well, this novel its that ridiculous and extremely funny.

The protagonist its an Emperor female impersonator who is also a ninny meow! Oh sorry, was channeling certain cat over there.

The story its funny, fast paced, intense, silly, witty and dumb at the same time. The only thing I regret seeing its that is short.

Oh but soooo good, go read it!
