It's a great novel. Game elements and Kingdom Building are one of my favorites kind of novel. Although it's going kinda slow.
Spoiler

I wish they both worlds would join sooner. Or at least that Zhao Fu find a way to appear without pressure from forces from another world. It's really annoying that we don't have a date for that. It's like 'It'll happen when it happens'. Annoying.

[collapse]
Still, There is character building and he's been getting good allies to help him, so the Kingdom Building it's going well. I don't know if it's because it happens later in the story, but I don't see a Harem until now. He only seems interested in this one girl. Anyway, I recommend it !

I've seen alot of people post that the story is a bit bland and lacks emotion. Yet, what story doesn't have a bit of a start up process. There needs to be a foundation for a climax and events to be built upon. Especially so when the story is also about a rise of a kingdom, a formation of a grand era. I really like Zhao Fu, he isn't c*cky with a system and overly super powered. He knows when he must advance and when he should lie low. If... more>> you like TWO or even Tales of a Reincarnated Lord, this would be a great pickup! <<less

It's a good novel if you like reading books with kingdom development and OP MC, the only real problems it has is the racism apparent in the novel and the severe lack of a creative plot.

Love this novel. Its relatively slow paced but it’s not necessarily a demerit. Only complain I have is the lack of details about how the real word and new world financial interactions happen etc. How exactly are the outside families supporting the people in the new world? Is it just through manual labor? Anyways, it’s just a small nitpicking on my end and over all am quite satisfied. Not much I. Way of romance or comedy but at least n harem. Highly recommended for lovers of the genre.

The other reviews here are half right half wrong now that I've gotten this far. So the things that I can echo for sure are

1. This story is auto pilot. In patches. You know how in the other city development novels the MC goes around and actually develops his city manually? What's different here is that this MC has actual capable people who take care of most domestic matters. When things need to change or when things go wrong our MC steps in but the empire is it's own tangible... more>> force with it's own momentum. The MC steers. Nothing more. Because of this the MC focuses a lot of his time thinking about the next conquest, the next retaliation etc. These moments of plotting while everything else develops around him are the low points until you get used to it. Other negative reviews emphasize that when the MC gains an item we don't understand it's importance or the MCs plan for it. And a lot of tools and people basically go missing. For example

Spoiler

MC gets a horse early on. It and the other horses that surrounded it were strong enough to threaten almost 1k troops. Then the MC gets a f*cking flight stone that allows basic flight at like chapter 300 or so. It can be empowered by his Legacy (a power system akin to mages. Uses fate instead of mana and doesn't cast spells except under very unique and strict circumstances) for faster flight. Why do you need a horse? He doesn't and I haven't seen that thing in action for 400 chapters. I probably never will again.

[collapse]
.

and examples like this are numerous. But all of us have seen this in plenty of other novels that were even worse handling this. It's not good, but I tolerate this flaw.

2. The fat is cut. This is my first time reading a style as bare as this. The story has plenty of moments that are memorable but so much feels like pages upon pages were selected then deleted before publishing. This is a good thing and a bad thing depending on who you ask. There isn't 273 chapters of forming a ying yang core and flying into the sky while slashing sword lights flutter about unlike every cultivation advancement you've seen ever. Instead you have cataclysmic events that are percieved across the entire world that set off chain reations. This part is a tangent but this makes the world feel interconnected in my opinion. Immediate action is taken and there is no wait period of a few years. No closed door cultivation etc. This sh*t goes fast. I personally like it since I usually skip the chapters in other novels where they comprehend the truths of dao or origin or power of the week. It's vapid and this novel is self conscious of that here and there.

Now for everything else like s*x and power systems I can't agree. The author spends literally chapters explaining the motivations behind the actions of all the characters. He explains Phoenix Qi. He explains why City Lords are so strong. He explains the impact of a demon God inheritance on the psyche, he explains how to research and why it's different from construction which requires Blueprints. None of this us random. Preludes to these events and hints are everywhere. Without that context it makes the MC look way shorter than he actually is. And that's just not fair. I won't rant too much longer but just know this novel isn't going to be the worst you ever read. It's mediocre. But I found it is so far. Worth my time. 3.5 if I could but 4 for now. I'll edit if it becomes shit. Dont want to mislead lol. <<less

This novel just feels very plain - I couldnt stick around for more than a couple chapters, even though I tried multiple attempts. Maybe I am spoiled by other novels, but I just know that when the MC gets thrown into an OP legacy trial chapter 2 then its going to be a plot-armor fiesta. If you manage to read past the first few chapters then disregard my review.

So I decided to reread this. Rereading it and finding flaws in the story. In the first ten chapters, it's kinda of unbelievable.

The MC has no awareness at all. The author writes him as this character that does things for the sake of doing.

Soldiers gain skills way too fast. The people ranking doesn't even matter. The first battle is on the second day the MC established his village and they got out with only minor injuries... That is really unbelievable.

We also don't get much information about the system... more>> itself as well. Creating this hole that the readers can't understand. What is the purpose of having a ranking system for people if they can become good in just one day?

Keep in mind this was probably the first week there with D-F ranked people in his army. The author explains that is about comprehension, but he takes that back extremely quick.

He also ends up doing stuff that makes you think that is a very bad choice so why are you doing it.

Spoiler

By chapter 10 he has signed a contract with a demon god. A freaking demon god for god's sake. Most people would be skeptical about it but the MC does with no hesitation.

[collapse]

He goes out conquering villages early on as well. There is no concept of supply. They have one blacksmith and just iron wood and yet they managed to equip and train soldiers in one week.

The system itself is very poorly made and how its introduced is even poorer. You could even throw it out and it wouldn't change much. The system is there just for events. That's it.

Honestly the system of this novel has a lot of stuff to nitpick t. The first day and almost every basic knowledge of the Heaven's Awaken World was discovered and posted onto the internet. I get that the author tries to get stuff out to the reader, but it's very poorly done and I highly doubt that normal people would give out information to their competitors and enemies.

Old Review

Spoiler

This story becomes filler around the thousand chapter mark in a terrible way. The filler actually makes me want the MC to just get auto power ups now since it was quite good in the beginning.

MC isn't a runner and will always come back to get revenge when he's stronger. Enemies that lasted longer than the normal enemies in these types of OP tropes. His subordinates actually getting a lot of screen time and the MC giving good gear to them. Massive battles. Those are some of the enjoyable things in the story.

Now then, onto the bad. The story turned into so much filler of him getting his powers with VERY little plot movement. A c*ckroach antagonist to hate, but is forgotten for a very time.

The novel takes a complete 180 after entering the second major area. The story loses a lot of flavor during this period of filler as it really starts reading as a terrible xianxia story.

It might have been okay if it was like that in beginning, but it happens in the middle.

Great start, but terrible after the thousand mark or after he goes to the second major area.

Spoiler

It's an interesting read. The city building is pretty slow compared to the growth of the MC's army. The author doesn't go too overboard with the city building as well as the author focuses more on territory capture to grow his population most of the time.

Compared to the World Online, this starts off on a global scale and the occasional appearances of the other lords in the game world. Most of the historical characters are tied to one lord like the MC's Qin Dynasty army at the beginning.

Main con of this novel is that it feels like everyone in the novel is growing way too fast and some famous side "player" characters are mentioned and then forgotten.

Edit:

So I managed to read up to the lastest raws. I will say that this novel has a really massive problem in dealing with major antagonists. They live. They live for an extremely long time. To the point, I actually thought one of the minor antagonists and it wasn't it was actually one of the long-running antagonists from the beginning.

Honestly after their world completely merges into the real Heaven Awaken World, it starts being filler and a lot of it as well.

For almost 500 chapters it's him collecting women and treasures and not much else. Even his kingdom is forgotten until he gets back and even then its the minimum amount of info of what it did during that time.

The lastest arc seems good so far since it managed to return to the massive army battles and warfare but its still has a lot of filler.

Simply put, this has a lot filler arcs about him increasing HIS own power. I'll say it again, his own PERSONAL power, not his kingdom's, so yeah there's that.

So his personality? I actually have to admit that he stays pretty consistent. He shows no mercy to his emenies. He actually does use his brain and manages to remain unknown despite all the fireworks he sets off.

His luck is also absurdly high as he'll always get away before he gets caught by people wanting to kill him.

As for the side characters? They do get a decent amount of time on-screen and it's actually more than most major antagonists.

Overall so far its a decent novel. it has its ups and downs and I would say that this focuses a lot on on him and once in a while his kingdom.

I like it much more than "The World Online". The kingdom building part is pretty interesting. The parallel world is real, not just a simple game. Wars between legatees of different dynasties are thrilling. There is scheming and even anticipation of future revenge. MC is OP and has a secret identity, I can't wait till he's exposed and others are full of awe and admiration.

I feel like this novel has a lot of potential and won't become boring for a long time unlike some others. My rating - 4.5 for... more>> now. <<less

Okay, until around chapter 50, the story was still kind okayish, after that the story turned bland since he only did the same things over and over again, starting from chapter 200, the story became slightly better with more battle, but at chapter 300, for several chapters the story pretty much went booom booom booom with random talk from random character.

Now, about the concept, the author pushed his luck too much, he mixed up so many elements without enough capability to develop them all, such as:

World = modern world +... more>> other world (+god world) + apocalypse

System = cultivation + grade + nominal stats + bloodline + profession (+town building), , moreover the system wasn't balanced at all (mainly leaned to MC groups).

Next, the MC, his character was also questionable. First, at first he said his dream was to get a wife and life quietly, but then he acted as if he had no interest in women at all, however when the women pressed her body or plead he'd easily yield. Secondly, he said that he didn't trust anyone, that was why he was cold, but in the other world, he'd act like some kind of sage in front of the 'kind people' to the point of forgiving those who once against him (for whatever reason).

Ah, not to mention "However, with enemies both in the real world and in the Heaven Awaken World, he must make brilliant decisions and use creative schemes to survive.", heck, he spent most of his time holed himself in his room and did something in the other world, he communicated with other in the real world pretty much only about nine or ten times thus far, moreover they barely ever talked about what he did in the other world since he pretty said nothing about it (since the other party was also 'good and understanding' person).

Then, about the other characters (mobs), at first they had certain extent of personalities, but as the story goes, the pretty much there only to convenient, praise, or fear MC, and at worst be his stepping stone.

All in all, the story sure had great potential since it had so many elements in it, but unfortunately the author was unable to polish them all which made everything hall assed and bland (boring) instead. <<less

I'm reading this novel, the World Online, and Doom Lord - all CN webnovels, all basically focusing more on kingdom/base building than rpg-style individual combat. They're all pretty similar in that the MC has some sort of initial advantage (knowledge from reincarnation in TWO and DL, bloodline from TLE). TLE and DL are more game-like in that artificial rules seem to constrict the MC's action, with TLE being the most game-like (since up to this point the HAW is not 'real' although it has been said it will take over... more>> the real world). With TWO, although it is a 'VRMMO', for all intents and purposes once a certain event occurs
Spoiler

the world taking off in spaceships and the title drop occuring

[collapse]
, the VR world IS the real world.

As usual from any CN webnovel, expect minor biases (in both TWO and TLE, the authors tend to favor a more revisionist interpretation of the Qin dynasty as opposed to the traditional one), some pro-China patriotism which can be mildly uncomfortable for most non-Chinese readers, cultivation, and implied harem/polygamy (though it is consistent with the periods portrayed in the novel).

The writing is not as good as TWO, but if you prefer more action/gaming and less history/kingdom building, TLE may be a better fit for your webnovel needs. <<less

I thought I found a jewel when I read the first few chapters. Game elements, army and kingdom building, and monsters. It has everything I’d gladly read even if it’s subpar. Unfortunately, the novel is lower than that. It’s definitely not heaven. It’s not earth either. It’s below that. The novel is $#%+.

The system was a first for everyone but it looked like all of them already know what they should be doing. Everyone just accepted it. No complaints, no crying, no nothing. It should’ve been a rebirth to make... more>> it more believable.

To be honest, this novel had a very interesting start but it got too nationalistic. Chapter after chapter after chapter has been about how good CN is than other countries. It was only 3-5 chapters but you can already see where this novel will lead to. It was that exaggerated.

So a caution to everyone. If you don’t like nationalistic CN novels, then avoid this. I read IRAS and GDW but this novel is on another level. <<less

I thought this would be a good novel looking at the setting and background, like people transported to alternate world and this can influence lot of things in real world. When I read I keep telling myself to go on, but really this novel is way too bland for me, tasteless.

THERE IS NO STORY, ONLY TWO DIMENSIONAL HAREM

It starts out as a pretty average, world is now a game with lords and stuff, kind of novel. The first hundred or so chapters can keep most people entertained with some events and a mad scramble to make his fleshling empire stronger.

The turning point for me and a big red flag of the future of this novel is the "choice" between the two ways he can cultivate as a emperor, as a ruler can't cultivate without the heavens striking him down... more>> or something s*upid like that. He can either be a celibate or make a harem that would put any JP harem protag to shame. I swear, any female that has any attribute higher than an average 1600's peasant girl gets forced into his harem then ignored for the rest of the novel. If there is an woman that has a name in this novel, she is in the harem and many are unnamed and only mentioned as a number. He is in the thousands before he conquers the earth realm. By the time I quit reading there were only chapter after chapter of new harem members. The guy goes through a very important dungeon that brings experts from the center of the world (earth is still at the very edge) and its described as 8 of the 10 chapters are just learning about the new harem members.

Basically some interesting things in the village stage then,

guy 1"hey check her out"

protag "Dibs on that lady"

LATER

guy 1 "How's the new harem member."

protag " Who?" <<less

I pride myself on taking any slow start novel, or amateurish novels and when you reach the 100 chapters everything begins to fall into place.

Now let's get to business,

too much hype, too much supremacy shits, too much Narcissistic, too much r*pe that doesn't even make any sense,

... more>> I usually read very bad novels till the end hell, I tough it all up because there is improvement later on, hell this was in short a total time waster.

Sigh, I am even surprised I am writing such harsh reviews but this is for the people out there every chapter, every paragraph, and every f*cking sentence. so much superiority complex it makes me sting.

and next is challenge

where is the challenge, if you want to be op be it in the right sense and give the necessary challenge, there is no sense of challenge just a sense of supremacy, sss grades pops up like carrots,

and the goal

obviously, I think he is conquering the world or something.

....

...

for what!!! reason!!!!, the reason, give the reason the why!!

I am not going to tell you are a lie

This is a good novel! I don't know why some people rate it bad. Some one said the MC is OP, but he's not! He actually so useless in real world with no backing whatsoever. He endure so many hardship to gain more power! The MC is smart and luck is on his side too. If you compare it with the world online you will know this novel is so much better!

i enjoyed this novel overall, but there we're some times where the MC had a random power up to godlike levels for no explainable reason (till like 70 chapters later when he does it again but this time tells you how). The novel slightly built on the world view but not by much, ex: oda nobunaga's descendant is in japan but litterally no other significant person? same goes with the majority of other countries it mentions... also seems somewhat shallow, but still good if you want a quick read and... more>> not too concerned about plot holes and such. <<less
