Waking up in a pile of dead bodies in an unknown land, after a diving adventure had ended disastrously, he quickly realizes the body he now possessed was not his own.

Follow Shi Yan as he explores this new world where danger lurks around every corner, and death is only a breath away; a world in which Shi Yan could not feel any more alive.

I just finished this and it was a challenge. The author couldn't finish a single arc without it having some weird twist before it finishes. Most of the side characters are completely irrelevant fairly quickly and there are just soooo many.
Spoiler

MC spends 800 chapters chasing a girl and then she gets dropped off the story. How does that even make sense. Also Bloodthirsty's origin is so s*upid and makes no sense (chapter ~1616?)

[collapse]
I kept reading hoping that the story would eventually come together but it doesn't. If you make it to space pirates, you have basically read every arc because they repeat. I would recommend to not bother reading this and look for something else.

This is tr*sh. I have read a lot of chapters because the story was barely passable. But the problem was that the author has tried to show off the MC way too much. This is pretty much wish-fulfilment at that point. I mean, the MC has great talent, huge destiny, is not morally bounded, is ready to f*ck around. This much can be digested. But what is with his so many encounters with women. He is a rapist and even then the MC is shown in a positive light. What... more>> the f*ck? Hell, the girl even falls for him! Then it pretty much became an erot*c fantasy - a horribly written one. Don't waste your time with this and read some realistic (in the sense believable) stories.

And what is this obsession of these Chinese authors with virg*ns? Is this a prevalent mentality? All the girls that the MC f*cks are virg*ns and pure. If a non-virg*n girl comes up, the author portrays them as sluts but the MC who only knows how to hump is portrayed as a stud? I can really tell you that if any of the feminisis read this shit, they will probably sue the author.

Edit - I read in a few reviews that this novel has an evil MC. You guys don't know shit! If you want to read a real novel with evil MC, read Reverend Insanity. This MC is not evil - he is shit. Calling him evil is simply giving him too much honor. <<less

I have many thoughts about this novel and not of them are good. I really wish I could forget everything about this novel. At chapter 40 I already hated the MC and around chapter 100 I actually started wishing the MC would die. I kept reading hoping the MC would change but at chapter 120 I could not take it anymore so I dropped this. I really can't believe this is from the same author as one of my all-time favorite novels.

1. An interesting novel released by a talented author. He is weak at the beginning and gradually pumping out his power, which is granite with insanity. A dark hero with a bad character absorbing his enemies, exploring unusual artifacts and ruins. Quite an interesting story, many interesting situations and characters. All the zest in the unusual abilities of the hero. Not the worst work of the author and the start is much more interesting than that of the great demon king.

2. It took almost a year and I finally got my hands to finish reading this novel, and I can say that she disappointed me. If the first 900 chapters were very interesting, then things got worse and worse. There were times when the work turned out to be terribly boring.

Reading the comments of other users who do not understand that the author created a character whose character determines all his subsequent actions. He also has his own set of principles that he uses.

Shi Yan is a pronounced anti-hero: an impulsive, cynical, lascivious womanizer, adrenaline junkie, arrogant and vindictive in nature, but always taking care of his family, friends and women tramp that wanders around the world.
This character does not allow him to create any schemes or plans, he is usually the hero of a loner striking his forehead.

In the world of martial arts, the author made the hero very arrogant and vindictive, with very dark abilities, thereby highlighting the character from the crowd. Or do you think that a good-hearted or a knight or some other positive hero would survive in the world from a whole universe of dark personalities? (He would simply have become dark himself or would have gone mad if he had survived, in general).

There are so many characters in the story, so many that everyone can not remember. Some characters just dissolve and disappear forever. These are usually very minor characters.

A lot of female characters, which are divided into 3 groups: His women, mistresses and women who disappoint him and just friends. He excludes women with treacherous character and cheap women, these are his principles. (There is people who are not able to understand that a woman who prefers Cao Zhi Lan in the first place, rejecting the feelings of her heart, is not suitable for him (this is not a series of money, then I do not need you.) Or heroines who try to sell themselves as a thing to any person who can realize their desires, telling the hero how you dare to kill him, do you know who his dad is? (Mu Yu De)

As a rule, he chooses women who do not demand anything from him or want him to become stronger than them. Only a few become his friends or mistresses under the yoke of circumstances. In the end, he left 4 women and 3 more who for various reasons are falling out of the context of the finale of history. (Although this is not written, but he will still revive Linda.) There is also a main love interest, which is just as slightly forgotten in the end of the story, however, like promises to other women like (Yu Ru).

A diverse combat system: begins on inborn fighting spirits and techniques. Then we turn to the acquired abilities, the creation of artifacts, pills, formations). Ending with deep meanings and their merging.

The first 900 chapters the hero defeats the enemies with his power or with the help of artifacts. Later in the second part of the story, various masters, the first ancestors and the final boss, practically merge by the author in various ways in the end.

And the enemies themselves with their plans and conspiracies are not smarter than the stump and are stubbornly straightforward and self-confident. Intelligence is enough to get lost in a heap and no more.

(even if you do not shout garbage to the hero, and I'll call my grandfather, although there are enough cliches everywhere). Score 4 stars with minus universal, scale. Read and on the shelf until the end of time. Although not as bad as many other works that I have seen. Out of respect for the author's, interesting beginning and talent writer, I do not put 3.8.

A good and fun read.

I think this novel has the same author with GDK (Great demon King) and I specially tag that author guy with the word Cool, badass and le*d (if your fond of this words read this!!). And yup he didn't fail my expectation.

MC was cold and yet childishly pe*vert at some times... almost the same with bryan (Han shou) only this guy follow the slaughter path while han shou was more on scheming. Anyway story is hilarious and badass. A good novel for bored and dull people... more>> lel. <<less

I always tell myself to read reviews that has completed or passed the half of the the novel because except them others are just haters. Who want to trust a review which user only read like 50 chapters? I really don't like the bandwagon hating so if you're contemplating whether to read this or not, just try it. Read the first half, the middle, and the later half just skimmed through it because some arcs are better than others.

This is a really late review, finished this last year.

Anyways, what stick... more>> to me finishing this was the clan building, MC never grew alone, every new world he brought his family and others together with him. The people from his homeland moved places/worlds like 5 times as far as I remember with the help of MC. The range of universes are also wide.

Harem haters, if you don't like harems, stop reading harem novels in the first place, why try it then talk sh*t just to discourage others when you only passed less than 100 chapters ¯\_ಠ_ಠ_/¯ <<less

This novel is repetitive and linear garbage. It's a downgrade from the authors first novel 'Great Demon King'. I believe GDK is the only novel that's readable by this author, even though it is not that good itself.

Every step up the stairs follows the same formula, no matter where or who he meets. All interactions are the same in each area and there is always something that pulls him to a new area when he gains a certain strength. I like finishing novels that I start reading even if they... more>> are bad but I had to drop this one at around 1k chapters.

Overall, I liked the first world, anything after you shouldn't waste your time reading.

The translation reads like decently edited MTL, which means that a lot of the story is out of context, missing portions and/or oversimplified. <<less

Until the updated chapters, I'm loving it. The MC is ruthless, calculating and is not a hypocritical good guy. I specially like his personality but I have mixed feelings about the Females in this novel though. They are kind of b*tchy but overall it deserves a 5 ★ rating.

This novel is titled "God of Slaughter", but after reading 500 odd chapters I really feel like "God of Cowards" or "God of Weaklings" might be a more apt title.

Why? A few reasons. First, despite being the titular "God of Slaughter" who gets a bullsh*t magic power in like chapter 2 that explicitly powers him up by feeding on the corpses of his enemies, MC never really does anything that could be considered a "slaughter". He never just randomly picks some place where his enemies (or innocents, or whoever) are... more>> and then just full-on mu*ders them all in order to power himself up. Considering the title and his power, that came as a surprise to me. He kills plenty of people sure, but generally only people who have tried to kill him first, and generally he's open to conversations and negotiations that lead to him sparing people who were trying to kill him a dozen chapters ago.

That leads to my second point, he's just so damn weak. He could even be called a "God of Weaklings" (har har). No matter what stage of the story he's in, no matter what his cultivation level, there's always some more powerful guy around to force him to back off and compromise again and again. After like chapter 400 it gets a little better because he finds a powerful puppet and some beasties that are way stronger than him but who obey him, so he can finally throw his weight around a little bit - however, even relying on all that stuff there are still other people that are stronger than him AND, worse than that IMO, he's only strong at this stage of the story because of his "strong bodyguards". In fact, there was an arc in the earlier chapters where he managed to subdue another team of "strong bodyguards" but then an even stronger guy showed up and took them all away from him and it's just... ugh.

Third, he has another personality trait really gives him a shot a being crowned as the "God of Cowards". Actually, I'm like 99% sure this in an issue with the translation, but the translation is what I read so I'm leaving this point in. I've never read another cultivation novel in my life where the MC was so frequently described as "scared", "terrified", "frightened", "anxious", "fearful", "screaming with fright"... etc etc... you get the point. In fact, in most cultivation novels those sorts of words are completely taboo and will never ever be used to describe the main character, but in this novel I would be surprised if you could find 5 consecutive chapters where at least one of these descriptors isn't used to describe the MC. Since I'm somewhat familiar with the genre, I seriously suspect that this is due to some error on the part of the translators, but after reading these words being used to describe the MC over and over again for 500+ chapters... well it paints an interesting picture. A picture of a MC who is always weak, helpless, only able to rely on his pet beasts and spirits to win fights, and who is constantly in a state of fear and terror... and this guy is supposed to be a God of Slaughter?

Heh.

That stuff aside, there's also a lot of issues with the story itself, moreover, the story is so long that the same issues pop up again and again. I think the biggest issues arise when the author's desire to have the MC be a big slinging d*ck who f*cks everything with legs comes into conflict with the author's other desire for the MC and this one girl to be True Destined Lovers who love each other across time and space and blah blah blah... For instance, I can think of two separate instances in the 500 chapters I read where a female character gets stuck following the MC in a dangerous situation, they grow close, their relationship becomes almost romantic-but-not-quite over the course of like twenty chapters, but then, suddenly, in the course of a single chapter the female character turns 180 degrees and goes from practically worshiping the ground the MC walks on to ruthlessly trying to cut him out of her life (so she can get face-slapped 2 chapters later for her "poor decision"). In both cases it feels like the author realized that this side character was growing more important than the Main Girl in the narrative, and their only solution was to pass the character to Idiot Ball for a single chapter so they could cleanly destroy the relationship and avoid any actual conflict in the story. Still, those two were treated a bit better than some other, similar, female side characters who just get unceremoniously killed by one of the zillions of powerhouses way stronger than the MC who are hanging around everywhere, oftentimes directly in front of the MC so he can use he rage and "sadness over their death" to power up. These characters are pretty much just cultivation pills with legs, their lives are used to let the MC learn the pain of powerlessness so he can feel even more motivated to power up.

In conclusion, this novel has the familiar cultivation novel treadmill, wherein the MC is constantly growing stronger and slowly catching up to and overpowering his old enemies, only for new, more powerful, enemies to pop up in front of him so he can do it all again. He's also very... kind, I suppose might be the best word. It gets mentioned explicitly a few times that he has a soft heart and is easily moved by women's tears and it's just... weird. The character setting established for him at the very beginning was that he was supposed to be this massive daredevil who had spent his whole life on the edge of life and death before finally dying while doing some s*upid extreme sport and then transmigrating. But none of that "daredevil" spirit ever really comes through in the novel itself. Instead of being a scary God of Slaughter, he's just one more generic cultivation novel protagonist - and he's actually on the softer and kinder end of the cultivation novel protagonist spectrum.

(edit: It occurred to me that the MC does a lot of r*pe over the course of the novel which seems to contradict this point, but actually I don't think it does. You see, the side effect of MCs magic bullsh*t ring is that after it absorbs enough dead people, it makes MC lose all control of himself, forcing him to either kill and do violence until he completely exhausts himself OR to have s*x and "vent it all out". This contrivance is the root of almost every r*pe in the story (the other times are mostly due to aphrodisiac poisons). This gives the author an out: allowing them to make the MC be a brutal mu*der/r*pist in some chapters before settling down back into his "normal person" personality which, again, is a bit soft for a cultivation novel. It's the perfect excuse for the author to inject some random h**ny or mu*derous chapters into the otherwise bland novel.)

I wouldn't exactly call it a bad novel, because that cultivation novel treadmill can be engaging and fun to read, but I would say that it really fails to live up to the title "God of Slaughter" and also fails to properly utilize the MC's initial character settings enough to make him stand out in any way from other "generic cultivation novel protagonists". <<less

I'm surprised I didn't read about this in other reviews, but this author is a real deviant. The MC r*pes or mol*sts every woman he encounters. At one point the MC r*pes his enemy, then has her mu*dered. His love interest somehow overlooks this. Later on the author describes a woman as looking so attractive "it made people unable to control the urge to r*pe her".

People joke about Chinese xianxia novels having characters that use r*pe as a weapon, but this novel is front and center a shining example. First... more>> novel I've read where the MC is the one doing the r*peing (with no extenuating circumstances). I assume the author succumbed to criticism as the MC has only mol*sted girls the last ~100 chapters or so. All of a sudden he can control himself.

Translation and editing are poor. It was decent for the first ~150 chapters, then the translator/editor got lazy. I can see why people hate Webnovel's work. <<less

This is a very morally questionable 18+ novel... Well is it bad? No.. This novel is full of betrayels, fights, lecherous acts, slaughter, r*pe and evil.... Not all can accept this...I personally took 100 chapters to adapt to the wierd world in this novel where almost everybody is selfish... Even love interests betray the MC when the situation demands it... which is irritating... but after that I got adjusted... MC does not cry in betrayals.. he keeps getting awesome and all who betray him cry tears of blood and regret...... more>> there are lots of fights.... its easier to read the novel without reading every single line of paragraph.. so it was fun reading it till 800 chapters... But after that till chapter 800-1400... its an absolute tr*sh novel.. where author went mental... Logic went into complete shit... Repeated Storylines.. Lovers treated like throwables... utter disrespect to womankind... Illogical and annoying cultivation breakthroughs by other characters.. You know MC is said to have very fast cultivation skill.. but it is turned into a joke by author when other old characters do the same by cheats... Its so irritating seeing mc's hard work treated like a joke... There are so many lines of praise repeated a 100 times.... and then turned into a joke immediately... They say this realm is so great and the moment MC reaches it, it becomes a joke where everyone reaches it.. This illogical stuff made me so angry... There is even one character who dies and author forgot about him and he appears later on which was hilarious....1400-1618 are atleast readable and less annoying... ending felt abrupt.. there should have been 1 more chapter for epilogue.. So honestly, I despise author.. MC puts goals over love... one of his lovers die and MC show no emotions at all.. she gets no mention and is treated like an invisible entity... so painful and sad.. author treats women like a joke... its like MC gets too strong and women feel we are not on the same level... this is such a disrespect to lovers and women.. The worst thing is women instead of hating the MC feels inferior... That is so distorted... and disgusting...I think author is a selfish and horrible creature who does not understand love...I dont mind how illogically women fall in love with MC.. but the way MC treats his women is absolutely Bullsh*t and unacceptable...I have no respect for this author... but I loved the slaughter of evil characters in this novel.. its so annoying when bad people survive in chinese novels but most of them die in this novel.. very satisfying seeing that.. so read it if you understand whats right and wrong... dont get twisted by this illogical nonsense <<less

I am writing this review as I am currently dropping/putting this novel on hold.

This is my first review as such It won't have a lot of depth or content because most of the other reviews already mentioned a lot of the problems with the novel.

I actually don't mind most of them, I don't mind the arrogant MC, or the r*pe or whatever.

What I mind is that while the MC is really overpowered at his level, he never fights at his level. A major enemy gets introduced and he is 5... more>> realms above the MC, 200 chapters of him running away from everything later and MC is still 3 realms below the enemy. MC powers up after an event only for some even bigger event to happen right away which "destroys the whole continent" (just a general big calamity) and MC has to run away.... again and again and again. I mean give the guy a freaking break now and again.

But I am one of the people that like tournament arcs, especially if they have a lot of components and tests and rivals rather than purely enemies (think the Divine Dream tournament in Martial World or whatever it was caused). I like a novel that has parts that differ, sometimes the MC is weak, sometimes hunted, other times too strong/important to confront, shows his genius, hides his strength.

I like variety, for me God of Slaughter feels like a novel where the MC is getting OP abilities and yet still is very weak because everyone is better and he is constantly running and in crisis. What's the point in getting stronger and killing a minor enemy when in the next moment someone much much stronger than MC comes and slaughters people he loves and he has to run AGAIN. *rant over*

I don't hate the novel, just not for me I guess. <<less

God of Slaughter was decent until the late 950ish Chapters, sure it was slightly repetitive, but it had some uniqueness to it. However, ever since Chapter 950ish, his personality changed to the worse quite quickly. He was a very smart, cold and ruthless MC who defo did not get manipulated, who beats the sht out anything and anyone trying to play with him. But at some ooint, that stops, he becomes way too passive, people lie to him, intoxicate him and drug him and what not, in order to get information or self benefit, and the MC just smiles it off. He was defo not like that in the beginning. And this had nothing to do with character progress or whatbot, in a world where strength is absolutele and killing is the norm, being passive doesnt fit or being used does not fit into the world view.

What I loved about this MC was also that he did not distinguish between male and female characters, once someone screwed him over, you knew that the MC will pay it back 100 times worse (not kidding, torture, r*pe, bloodbath etc.). However, ever since Chapter 900ish, he becomes the gigolo and gentlemen for women, even though they just use him. Sorry but that was a total turnoff for me, I hate it when manipulative people get away with everything cause they are female and can give the MC a reason for cheap s*x.

Oh and Qidian is censoring any R18 content. Seems like gore and blood is fine but once a hand touches the leg the fun stops there. The issue is that the censoring is way too obvious and in alot of chapters the flow seems cut somewhere or the conversations are just very unnatural. Its just annoying, and that happens without warning.

So, enjoy it till chapter 950. 2/5 for me.

This is a novel you read when you don't have any other novel read. But you can get bored of it very easily.

Pro's

  • Consistent cultivation level
  • short s*x scene - don't last more than half a page, not long like ATG, CLC
  • MC does not speak self-righteously like his a goddam saint from another world
  • his past life come up now and again to justify his recklessness, and doesn't define him
  • Returns to his roots and helps those he helped before
  • Decent pace
  • unique story telling, no cliche sect growth scenes
Cons

  • So many women sleep with the MC for no good reason, their entire relationship if forced and dry. One you know their name you can skip a few chapters has story repeats itself
  • MC main love rarely appears in the story and every time she does appear she has a new personality
  • Plot armor is so thick you can cut it with a knife
    Spoiler

every single time he is gona die either a women will save which he will f*ck later or the ring gives him a way out

    [collapse]
  • every powerful person is either want to kill him or make him the f*cking got at first sight
  • He meets the all powerful to quickly, zero build up
  • SoOOOOOOOO MUCH useless cultivation bullsh*t that has already been said 30 chpts ago in greater detail, this goes on for so long it made me drop the novel three times, till I found I had nothing else to read
  • Spoiler

MC->meets girls or finds treasures->greedy people (robbing treasures) / lustful persons (aiming for the girls) ->MC kills these people (if they are men), f**k/kills (if they are women) -->MC absorbs enemies' power or train to increase his power-->keep retreating non stop.

    [collapse]
  • The bloodline power only works for the MC even though every single person has it
  • so many leftover story lines
  • brainless mc
  • one third of the novel is the author making excuses on why the MC is right, justified, powerful, a dick, gets with women
  • girl are 1 dimension
  • if the author says something will happen later, it wont
    Spoiler

anti-climatic plot twist helps thicken the already god like ploy armor

This novel is for all the edgy kids out there who wants a MC without any morals... well at least for the first couple of hundred chapters. Later on MC (who is still a pos without morals) pretends to be all moralistic and becomes a complete hypocrite. Biggest turnoff for me was this author's creepy obsession with "racism" in this novel. Apparently every other evil is okay, but if you're slightly "racist" you're a total scumbag. Basically all humans are worthless "racists" and all the other poor furry tribes are... more>> just innocent little babies that get bullied. In actuality every singe non human tribe are vile slaughterers who kill en mass every person they see, be it a cultivator or a normal person. They literally commit genocide and then this mentally challenged author blames the humans for being "racist" towards them. This stuff doesn't just appear once to twice, it's all over the novel. If you can get through all the unreasonable bullsh*t then by all means read it, but I'm sad I wasted time to read so many chapters only to be disappointed with a deranged mentally ill person's tirade of self loathing and deflections concerning "racism." <<less

God of Slaughter is a XuanHuan novel that follows the exploits of Shi Yan, a former adrenaline junky reborn in the body of a wastrel.

This setup is archetypical transmigration--a young boy met an unfortunate accident, died, and has been reborn in the body of another young man. He occupies a low social standing, giving him the opportunity to rise up through the hierarchy of this strange new world armed with naught but his wits and an ancient enigmatic artifact.

As with many stories that lack an especially creative concept or setting,... more>> the execution of God of Slaughter is what makes--and eventually breaks--the narrative. While the main character has been introduced to this setting in an uninventive way, his backstory is used to help flesh him out: Shi Yan's parents died at a young age, leaving him with a large sum of money and little positive moral support or direction in life. It is implied heavily that the death of Shi Yan's parents left him feeling vacuous; he tried to fill the hole engendered by loss with adrenaline highs and s*x but was ultimately unsuccessful. Instead, he became addicted to his medication, chasing highs until he plummeted to his death.

This backstory is instrumental in the development of Shi Yan's character, and, for a narrative within its genre, shows admirable nuance and care.

Furthermore, the ancient artifact that Shi Yan comes into possession of early on is quickly shown to be sinister in nature, slowly changing the protagonist's nature.

Unfortunately, there is little else positive to say for the setting of God of Slaughter. Even if the story was a relatively short-lived tale of cultivation, the essential elements introduced from the beginning have all the makings of a good XuanHuan

novel. However, Shi Yan's character undergoes some rather distasteful changes when
Spoiler

he discovers that he is related to a powerful family and begins to abuse his background as a means to achieve often detestable personal goals. Subsequently, a character who could have developed into a brooding sinister antihero instead becomes a petulant child, the archetypal wuxia villian who abuses his family's backround in order to accomplish petty goals.

[collapse]
As the story progresses past this revelation, the character begins to simultaneously regress, gradually turning more and more puerile as each chapter is released.

In summation, God of Slaughter has a strong beginning and an interesting premise but is ultimately weighed down by poor character development amongst the principal cast. My recommendation is that you give this story a try and continue reading until you can't stomach any more of the main character's r*pey antics. <<less

I'll begin with mentioning that at first I liked this novel enough to read ahead with MTL, I went from loving GoS to being utterly disappointed by chapter 340.

All I can say is that while this novel was promising and I really liked it, God of Slaughter took a bad turn after leaving the merchant union for the endless sea. Then another bad turn right after Shi Yan come to the Yang family.

Then there's the s*upid crap and super mega ultimate plot armor with the two humanoid races and Shi... more>> Yan receiving another 2 heavenly flames in like 50 chapters from the "Abyss Battlefield".

But something even worse was just over the horizon, chapter 339 to 340. All I'll say is that everything before this is abruptly and arbitrarily smashed into irrelevance, completely. <<less

What to say about this novel? Well, first it's written by the same author who wrote Great Demon King, and it bears many similarities to this novel.

The MC is very cruel, vicious, and pe*verted without an ounce of shame. This is a harem story, so expect many beautiful love interests. There are also lots of NSFW scenes in there, and there is a non-con scene (or were there two? I mean, it was revenge but still) with this one girl, so if you're not interested in that this probably isn't... more>> your kind of novel.

Spoiler

Like the title promises, the MC is a merciless b**tard who kills lots and lots and lOTS of people (I'm talking giant massacres here), usually in especially vicious ways. One of his methods of cultivation directly involves absorbing people for power, to give you a bit of an idea. Shi Yan is also an arrogant guy. Truthfully, in terms of his personality there's really nothing good there. At least he doesn't pretend to be a good guy, though.

Honestly, the "romance" or harem parts of the story kind of kill it for me. I'm not a big romance fan in the first place, so the MC's casual attitude on the subject is a good thing, but on the same token I'm also not too big a fan of just how many of these scenes there are. Usually, my favorite part of any story are the characters, so when most of the side character aren't developed it can be a bit of a letdown for me. That's probably why I wish these girls would have a bit more characterization, even if he never actually invests much in them emotionally, it would at least make these parts a bit more interesting to me.

On the bright side, the MC has no tolerance for betrayal. A beautiful girl leaves him and tries to return? He simply doesn't care. There are two girls which are like this earlier in the story, and when they are rude to him later he literally tells them off to their faces, which was SO satisfying. I hate it when female characters get an automatic pass just because of their looks. If you happen to find one of the female characters annoying, you can rest a bit more easily knowing that she won't constantly stick to him, and may not remain in the story line.

On the one hand the MC is open about his pe*verted nature, on the other none of his interactions with other women really give you the feeling that he likes any of them, and since the side characters don't get much characterization, the MC's personality and actions really end up carrying the story (no problem if you don't care, a big problem if you don't like Shi Yan).

As bad as it sounds, I'm mainly reading for the unbridled violence, and because I think the idea of absorbing people for power is interesting. Yeah, I admit it, the insane killing sprees are pretty b***ss.

[collapse]

All in all it's an alright novel. I do appreciate how unapologetic the MC is about being evil, and he doesn't spend the whole story as some kind of innocent virg*n monk. The MC is really carefree, and his straight-forward "I do what I want" attitude is refreshing. He has relationships with different girls, but so far he hasn't promised anything long-term, and he's pretty upfront about that point. That being said, I personally am not a huge fan of some of the aspects of this novel, mainly the shallow-ness of the side characters and the (in my opinion) slightly excessive pevertedness.

The rating system doesn't allow for half-stars, but I'd say it deserve about a 3 1/2 or so for being so outside the box in terms of evil-ness. If you like the romance parts it can easily go up to 4 stars. It's a good casual read. <<less

haaa... this used to be one of my favorite novels at the start, and it squeezed all the joy out of me by the end. And it's not even about the ending itself, it just felt that the story went for too long, I felt cheated. When u start to build your world u set some boundaries, that lets the reader to imagine and find a place in your story, if at some point the MC gets at the top of the pyramid and u suddenly open a door to... more>> a new world with stronger powers and he is at the bottom again, we as readers feel frustrated... we went on a journey together, we evolve, we can't start again from the beginning... And it also creates problems with the characters, the MC will meet new ppl, so the old ppl have to be integrated in the story, but since the old world had different rules it has to be forced... suddenly ppl evolve left and right, while the old ones needed thousands of years to get there, the new ones need just a few, by the end is get so bad that ppl get to a certain level just cuz the story needs them to. This hard line that separates the worlds is what creates all the problems, so much that the main girl is not even decoration on his wall by the end...

Would I recommend this? Sure, read until he leaves the first planet, just imagine a solar flare ruined the teleportation wormhole and he gets stuck for eternity, there will be a lot of unfinished stuff but most of them will be forgotten anyway. You can get a good idea what this story will be from the tags. <<less

It is really decent novel, until you realize how many flaws it has.

Examples:

Kid at forgotten corner of world can in few years master language, which thousands years old monsters, or just anyone other than protagonist, can't.

... more>> Literally cultivate/grow by killing. --> Yup, lets stay inside and practice this pretty painful, cruel and useless skill, that I will use maybe in next 2 fights then forget or get something better.

Travel to clan headquarters *only* to get skill for his martial spirit --> Oh I arrived, lets just train my energy (which I can train by killing at even faster rate) for half year. Not like I have target or anything... <<less
