I was really enjoying this story up until chapter 42, honest.

I liked the "OPness" of the female character. A female character who has experience as a military doctor? Sounds intriguing.

Yes, the Pharmacy Pocket Dimension is a little OP, but I don't see people complaining when male protagonists get ridiculous skills on top of unbelievable stats.

The only thing I found a little annoying about her skills was the claim about being combat-adept. She never trains or has reason to display her physical skills. It comes off as just... more>> a bullet point in her profile to further cement her suitability for the similarly Extremely Above Average male lead. She even mentions she needs to tone up her body/muscles, yet no training up to my current chapter.

There's also this sexist dynamic in Chinese novels that never fails to aggravate me. That is, no matter how skilled, talented, and strong the female lead is, the male lead is always a step ahead.

The part that best encapsulates this spirit is as follows:

Spoiler

"However, even if I am successful in learning it, there will still be a large gap when fighting you... You know how to use qing gong and how to use a long weapon. These things added together put me at a disadvantage. From the two battles, there has only been one outcome."

[collapse]

It is impossible for a strong female lead in a CNovel to be more skilled or powerful than her male counterpart. The balance must always be in favor of the male.

(ꐦ⌅⌄⌅) ノ彡┻━┻

But MC's verbal tete-a-tetes with her enemies and subtle manipulations were entertaining and satisfying.

Then came chapter 42.

My reaction to chapter 40-42 was and is, well, I am... disgusted. Furious, and disgusted.

Spoiler

One particularly antagonistic servant is deliberately lured into situation where she is r@ped by the master of the house.

JinYuan (MC's father) is delivered an aphrodisiac that was originally meant to poison MC's little brother by MC's servant Wang Chuan, and Chen-shi's servant Jin Zhen. (Chen-shi being one of the main villains and essentially MC's evil stepmother.)

Wang Chuan, under MC's orders, then forces Jin Zhen to stay with JinYuan as the medicine takes effect.

Here's a line from that part: "Wang Chuan retreated while bowing, her gaze containing a hint of a sly look. Until she exited the room, she did not forget to close the door behind her."

Basically, MC and her servant influence events so the servant of Chen-shi is r@ped by JinYuan.

[collapse]

This is painted to be some sort of twisted retribution. A "serves her right" kind of moment.

I felt physically ill reading this.

To make it worse, the author paints the womanchild who was just r@ped as a villain in the midst of her own assault.

Spoiler

Jin Zhe's fear just disappears and she begins plotting how her r@pe can benefit her, while she's still being violated.

She can just brush off her r@pe because, and I quote, "she was not a young girl with no s*xual experience."

[collapse]

The author not only uses r@pe as a punishment, but glazes over the seriousness of the crime and its effects on the victims, and, on top of that, attempts to depict the victim in such a way that the audience feels less pity and less horror and less sympathy.

Not to mention the idea of non-virg*nal women being somehow unaffected by s*xual assault.

(˙ ͜ʟ˙)

I just. No. No.

R@pe is not something you use to "get back" at other women; it's not to be used as revenge. It's not a weapon you inflict on other women who "deserve it."

If you're going to write about r@pe, you write about it with respect. With research. With sensitivity and humane consideration for victims of s*xual assault. With realism.

I am going to attempt to continue reading, but I cannot emphasize enough how much of a travesty that scene is, and how much it decimated my respect for the author.

I should also point out that there is fatphobic connotations, with the author's description of Chen-shi, and the insults of other characters that focus on her weight.

Further, not only the writing, but the reader response seems to be generally sexist. Feng Jin Yuan is human tr*sh and arguably the worst villain in this story, along with his mother, yet the audience is led to aim their vitriol primarily at Chen-shi and Chen Yu.

(I personally find the latter an intriguing character and admirable, to a certain degree. She is crafty, intelligent, beautiful, and ambitious in a society in which women are essentially powerless without being somewhat greedy for stability/safety. She also has a dense and graceless burden of a mother. But she's still the antagonist, so. There's that.)

In other news, the translating is great, easy to understand, and has very few typos. The footnotes were also helpful.

The rating I want to give this series: 1/10.

The rating I am currently willing to give: 2/10; still a failing grade but marginally better, accounting for good translation quality, (lost) character potential, and the dialogue/developments excluding the s*xual assault.

Edit: In response to a PM I was sent about my review by DaoFox, telling me not to "pretend" to have deep/complicated reasons and to read the entire story before being critical...

Whether there is more to read or not, what I have read and addressed is still atrocious. Even if my opinion of the rest of the novel is positive, my opinion of what I have read, and the criticisms I gave, still stand. I also used spoiler boxes where I needed to, and I am sorry you think I shouldn't have been using them because I haven't "read enough."

[Pls do not passive aggressively contact me and attempt to mock me unless you have a salient argument. (。^‿^。) ] <<less

This novel deserves five stars just for the imperial family. A wise emperor who is not narrow minded, wants to nurture the younger generation over clinging to his power, and is actually faithful in love.... an empress who doesn't seem petty or too engaged in intrigue and gets along well with the favoured concubine and her son, the badass concubine who leaves the emperor hanging.... Even the the attempts of a certain prince to amass power are treated with ridicule instead of wariness... this is the first time I have... more>> read a c novel of this type whose royals actually deserve to rule and don't make me feel disgusted. All the other wonderful aspects of the novel do not need further commendation because they must have surely been brought up in the other reviews... still.... kudos to the wonderful girlfriend gang, the adorable mother and brother of the MC and the synergy and sheer compatibility with the ML.... His type is often taken too far and turned into a possessive jerk so I'm enjoying the harmonious and non- toxic relationship depicted here....

I suppose I am obligated to mention that her pharmacy is a total deus ex machina and the s*upidly disgusting and annoying family members are aplenty... but at least her backstory of being a military doctor with a traditional medicine background or whatever is a decent enough excuse for possessing medical and combat skills.... unlike all the OP assassin ladies who possess an astounding knowledge of herbs and acupuncture and cultivation and traditional instruments.... anyway this fic is worth putting up with all the cliches because it doesn't frustrate you to death when you read.... <<less

In terms of soul transmigration comparisons, I have to say that this series really tops out the extreme of OP skills and cheats. A female soldier who is well versed in Chinese and Western medical skills from future times gets soul transmigrated to ancient China. However, she carries a storage space inside her. In the space, it has her surgery room, pharmacy, small living space, and even an artillery room. Of course, anything she removes, gets automatically replenished by her space. Not only that, if she moves in the space,... more>> she can move her position in reality as well. Makes me wonder, if she exits between walls, would she die? But that scenario never happens.

Spoiler

Suspending disbelief is quite normal in these novels, but when it's too over the top ridiculous, it kind of stops being enjoyable to read. The FL is too powerful in everything, and then she can pull out everything from land minds, grenades, assault rifles, bullet proof vests, endless bullets, food, cloaking abilities, and ready made drugs; winning a war is simply a no brainer.

Despite the ultimate cheat skills, there were some other annoying details that kept repeating ad nausea. For instance, villains and evil intentioned family members that kept using the same skills to try to kill or harm the FL. The puppy love of her 3rd sister to the 7th prince, while ignoring the love of 4th prince. The annoying shrewish 4th sister who was extremely physically and mentally cruel to everyone. The biological mother who refused to recognize her own daughter. And the fact that the FL isn't the only one who soul transmigrated.

The romance would have been better as well if the FL wasn't so ambiguous in her feelings for a 3rd party. For most of the series, she kept going on how great the second ML was and how she would have fallen in love with him if she didn't meet the 9th prince first. Ultimately, this kind of cheapens the romance between the FL and the ML. Don't we as readers like to read about how strong leading couples are? Why keep harping about that if not the ML, there would have been just as strong as a romance between the FL and the alternative love interest. This ambiguity just really turned me off towards the end. Kind of ruined that special happily ever after flair.

The ending was a happy ending if a bit on the boring side.

[collapse]

Overall, for the various stated reasons, it's not on my favorites as a series. Read it and soon to be forgotten. <<less

First thing first, this novel is in no way resemble The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage ever. How should I put this. The plot is bland, s*upid and distasteful. The characters are s*upid including the MC who supposed to be the genius military doctor with OP cheat.

People hating the MC left and right for no reason. And powerful people like the emperor and ML liked the MC in first glance. There's no character depth whatsoever. The villains are s*upid with their scheming that even a 8 year... more>> old can think of. I think the author lack the ability to think of any good scheme fight. It was way too generic, like poisoning with aphrodisiac and slandering with voodoo doll. And the way the MC counter it is also horrible.

MC is cruel. I fact I think she is the true villain in this novel. And she contradict her statements a lot of time. She mentioned that life is precious and unborn babies are innocent but she help people performed abortion TWICE. And I really pity the villain and their innocent family. Like that Qing Le and that unfavoured Duke. Tbh I dont think they are that evil. They are miserable enough and the MC pretty much destroy the family. There are also that Bu girl. The MC drugged her and sent her to be r*ped by more than 20 people. And she went to her home after that to mock her. And went the girl started bleeding excessively because of miscarriage, the MC chose to ignore her. So much for your doctor title. And she keep on extorting her sister for million of silver like a bandit.

I hate how people in this novel doesnt act their age. The MC is just 12 years old and people respected her like a deity and fear her. Her mom just followed all her instruction like a braindead zombie. Imagine having a 12 years old make a life decision for you. And the adults acts like a kid and need a 12 year old kid giving them advice. And how people keep treating the MC as adult is beyond me. It's soo disturbing.

In conclusion, I hate this MC. She's not ruthless, just cruel and a hypocrite. ML is fine. He's a bit pedo for falling in love with a 12 years old though. <<less

The tropes are all there, but the writing is good and not unreasonable. Best black belly story of all top rated transmigration stories.

The MC is rational and don't create unnecessary trouble. She strives for her mother and brother and is good to the people who at least try to be good to her also.

The story isn't as masturbatory as other black belly stories, men don't fall at her feet, the only love interest is the ML. She also doesn't try to revolutionize anything despite her cheat and expertise, she keeps... more>> to herself but helps those who need help.

There are gray and neutral characters and basically all the characters have dimensions in them and don't exist as canon fodders. The story works with logical sense.

The pacing is perfect and knows when to offer and delay tension in the story, a rare quality in web novels. There is, surprisingly, a literary awareness. <<less

I have listened to the audiobook of this novel up to around Chapter 1150 and read the rest in Chinese.

As a TL;DR, I would give:

Plot: 3.5/5

Characters: 2/5

Romance: 2/5

Writing: 4/5

Overall Enjoyment: 3.5/5

I was hooked on this novel at first. It had a little bit of everything: snarky protagonist, clear otp with romance, martial arts, some drama, a variety of characters, interesting plot etc etc.

However, as it went on, the plot became pretty predictable: ... more>>
Spoiler

Da Shun (MC's country) is surrounded by 4 countries... go to war with all the ones who want to fight Da Shun and unite the mainland, pretty typical for these types of novels.

[collapse]

Also, the drama gets heavier and "darker" as the story goes on.
Spoiler

For example, the "main villain" Duan Mu An Guo is simply... gross. Basically, he's a super old man pe*ophile who plants his hundreds of kids for power.

[collapse]

A point about MC's mom:
Spoiler

A lot of people will become angry by her ways. Honestly, I'm just surprised that she took that long to "explode". MC is COMPLETELY different than the original Feng Yu Heng, and as a mom, you would definitely notice something wrong with your daughter if she's had a 180 degree personality change, is suddenly a genius doctor and great martial artist, in the span of like three days apart. Granted, her actions in the later parts of the novel are pretty questionable but a lot of people are legit mad that MC's mom realized that MC is not her daughter and started treated her coldly after realizing that. Plus, MC is also unwilling to let go of the mom, so their relationship is really... :/ Like I sometimes wanted to yell at the seemingly smart and military trained MC "she's never gonna accept you as her daughter. You're completely different than her daughter. Let it go."

[collapse]

Additionally, like a lot of reviewers here, I found MC and a lot of other characters less and less likeable as the story went on. MC is a straight up hypocrite with a tendency for cruel methods and revenge. What she did to her 1st sister and Bu Ni Shang was really disgusting. I thought this story was going to be less intense than a lot of those revenge based rebirth novels but... nope. She also makes A LOT of questionable decisions as the novel goes on. MC's 4th sister should have been written earlier in the story not have been given a chance for redemption. She's definitely the most annoying character in the book. I understand that with her background, her ambitions may be "justifiable" but... enough is enough. MC's a marine doctor right? She should check on her 4th sis's mental health. MC's dad is also a douche. In fact, looking back, I feel like most of the characters in this book are pretty unlikeable. I would actually say my favourite character are the Empress and Feng Zhao Lian.

The romance is pretty meh in this book. Pretty much love at first sight between MC/ML. It doesn't develop that much. The romance between the emperor and ML's mom is more interesting but I can't help but feel bad for the other ladies in the emperor's harem.

The overall writing in this book is decent and pretty easy to follow. I would say it's average to above average for amateur Chinese writing.

This book is definitely not amazing, but it's not terrible either. If you have the time to pass and you want to read a book with an overpowered transmigrated F!MC, I would say check it out. <<less

I loved this novel when I first started reading it. I'm going to continue reading it to the end because I'm volunteering as the proofreader for the translator. However, I really don't recommend this novel if you have a problem with:
-Broken Logic

-The physically impossible becoming possible in completely unrealistic ways

Spoiler

Such as a 13 year old girl holding four guns at the same time and shooting them successfully

[collapse]

-Plot armor so thick that even when a group of people should have died or at least been injured they escape unscathed because the MC was with them.

-A ridiculously unreasonable MC who acts without any restraint and doesn't care about any potential consequences for her or those she cares about.

This is the first webnovel that I started reading. As I mentioned before, I liked it when I first started reading it. Unfortunately, I can no longer enjoy it as much as I did. The interactions between the MC and ML were sweet and fun at first and I still adore the ML, but the MC drives me nuts. The MC is a stubborn, unruly, and unforgiving girl who accomplishes some pretty amazing feats because of her skills she brought with her when she transmigrated, but those feats become more and more unrealistic as the story goes on. It had such great promise, but at this point it's just a big disappointment. <<less

First Chinese novel I read. First, I really enjoyed seeing a strong FL that had the desire to take revenge, military woman? Hey! I like it! But

now, not only I hate this novel, I also think that the author is a terrible person. Here are some points I think you should consider BEFORE you go too far in this novel :

    • Without cohesion
Spoiler

She speaks out against abortions, and then immediately helps another character to abort for money and own personal gain

[collapse]

    • Misogynist and downright disturbing
Spoiler

She came from modern society, but she constantly criticizes women for not knowing how to preserve their purity (this is even used as a justification when someone is r*ped) Therefore, I do not see it as a reflection of ancient times she is in, but rather of the author's own mentality, since MC came from the future, she should have a better understanding of sexuality and how r*pe is NEVER the victim's fault. Even if we imagine that she is conservative, still, r*pe is r*pe, she wants women to be pure, ok, I do not agree, I want women to f*ck all around and be happy, but I can still forgive this depressing way of thinking, BUT r*pe? HOW CAN A WOMAN BE AT FAULT FOR BEING r*peD ?? The only type of person who thinks that way, are as*hole Also, the MC schemes for other women to be r*ped, one of them, she simply throws it in a place known to be dangerous and then even drugs men to r*pe her. In that part, to be fair, the other woman tried to do the same to her. But it was still hard to read.

[collapse]

    • Homophobic and Transphobic
Spoiler

Throughout the Series, we met a character who underwent experiments (don't ask me how because it was very poorly explained since they were in ancient times) And She was born a man, but she has the appearance and female hormones. At first, MC thinks she's beautiful and is impressed by the beauty of the person she thought was a woman. But when she discovers that this woman was born a man, she constantly makes fun of this character, when the character admits that She already considers herself a woman, the MC goes so far as to say that if she cannot have children then she cannot be considered a woman. * WHAAAAT ??? * THEN, WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE WOMEN WHO FOR SOME REASON CAN'T HAVE CHILDREN? Misogyny again. In the view of this author, a woman's only purpose is to have children. --The MC is merciless and cruel Even though he is an ally. And when the MC finds out that she * the trans character* is interested in men, the things get worst, as the MC starts to say that she needs to protect (????) the man from her. Really this got on my nerves, I was so sad imagining how my trans friends would feel reading this ! : (

[collapse]

AND don't tell me that this is the author making a flawed character because in ALL OTHER WAYS the MC is "perfect", so the author really wanted to convey her views, or at least don't seem to think that this is horrible, otherwise she would not write this kind of character as the MC.
    • f*ckING DISTURBING
Spoiler

At some point her maids, to revenge the MC, (who they thought was dead, poison the villain with some magical aphrodisiac and then let the Villan's brother r*pe her, and THEN, THEY THROW A DEAD BODY WITH THEM IN THE BED. SO, necrophilia also presents in this terrible terrible novel.

[collapse]

I rest my case. (Also, sorry if I made grammatical mistakes, English it is not my prime language and sometimes fails me, and right now I am pissed off again about this series)

To say the truth, I loved how the novel began, the translation and the standard plot. The lead (Feng yu heng) is quite aggressive and dosent keep delaying stuff like in many other similar novels. Would have given it a 4/5 rating.

The reason for the serious drop in rating is that I simply couldn't bear with the hypocrisy of fyh and her pettiness in handling stuff. Let me give some examples. *Very minor spoilers, no names taken*

Spoiler

Towards the start of the novel, we find her thinking along the lines of humanness and bullsh*t ethics when a person asks to abort a child. Yet there is no consideration of the same when another person gives money and asks to abort her child.

[collapse]

Spoiler

She kills a maid of her rival just because the maid speaks to her without permission. So much for her being a doctor who values lives. It's more like she's an overpowered bit*h trying to find places to throw her weight around.

[collapse]

Spoiler

As this is a transmigration novel, we can expect her to have some skills. Not surprising that she has some cheat item. But the s*upid part is that she is introduced as a battle medic with a small shop of her own. Yet she literally has cure for every damn disease stored in there. And not just diseases, she has a crap ton of food, utensils and other stuff. Wth. Even cheats oughta have limits to make stuff exciting

[collapse]

Spoiler

She literally depends on her fiancee for all her guards and speaks as if it's all her power. She literally provokes people just she has nothing else to do and has the mood for it. Just shows how jobless she is. And how petty and small minded her thoughts are even though the author tries to portray her as a generous and some super good great person. While all we see is an arrogant petty "doctor" with a chest ability to cure anything, and who dosent care about life as long as it isn't one of her friends.

[collapse]

Spoiler

One more thing I hated the most is how less of a control she has over her emotions. Author tries to show her as someone who is "cold" (lol), good to friends harsh to enemies type but it is just her provoking people weaker (pretty much everyone else cause, duh she's the lead) than her to make them irritated (successfully irritated me too!) and then she starts playing her petty games with them. So slow, so unoriginal, so frustrating that I feel proud to have made it this far.

[collapse]

I wouldn't recommend this novel to anyone who dislike leads who are picky b*tches, have no emotional control yet act as if they do, super hypocritical, and super petty. But it might suffice if you are out of alternatives and need something to read to survive. Else you'll just feel disappointed as the book progresses towards halfway. <<less

The Divine Doctor Starts out great in the beginning and then slowly degenerates to a bit above average. My decision for this score is because the novel is 80% of the time focused on FL's perspective.

My impression of female lead in the beginning was pretty good. You f*ck with her she f*ck with you. You leave her alone she leaves you alone. FL is an ex-marine doctor, so she should have some sort of emotional bond with her country and its citizens. This was shown several times when she saved... more>> people and demonstrated her skills.

Eventualy you will be able to notice that the FL mentality changes to some one that will do whatever she feels like.... in a bad way. From being Mature, Respectable, Brave, Righteous, and Reasonable FL's mentality changed into Childish, Unreasonable, Cruel, and Hypocritical.

From her actions so far im willing to believe that, if she was a Marine, she was Dishonorable Discharge because she is prone to use blackmail against people, take bribes, and physically abuse people.

Also, I dont know about Chinese military, but in the USA military in order to get a 'high officer rank' you not only needs Experience but Time in Grade, Education (College), and Awards or to put simply Trust from those higher rank than you. To put it in perspective to get a promotion certain criteria is required. 6months to get E-1, 1 year to get E-2, 2 years to get E-3, etc. This is for the first 3 lowest Enlisted Grade of USA ARMY. For ranks/grades higher than that one needs college and there are limited number of those ranks so you are fighting for that position among your fellow peers. The one with the best "resume" gets "hired." Usually to have a 'high rank, ' you have to spend on avg about 15-20+ years. Earlier if you are high speed and devoted all your time to your career.

So my view of the FL is an Ex-Marine Officer of 30+ years of age (young as f*ck), that has been Dishonerable Discharged (fired). Im still trying to think why her mentality reverted to that of a little girl.... ill just assume that her mentality is affected by her body which has yet to go through puberty and is also affected by her phermones. Stacked with mental injury during transmigration process.... sounds good. <<less

The thing is this was my first ever c-novel way back in like 2016/7 or something. I came here after reading the first few chapters of the webcomic version because I wanted more and Spring Rain Translations really was a great translator who updated frequently.

The thing with this novel that made it different from a lot of the other ones is how quickly our MC and ML become a team. There were never any s*upid misunderstandings or hatred between them that stretches thousands of chapters (at least from what I... more>> read). I appreciated that and I appreciated how they were always there to support one another- in the beginning, the ML wasn't super present constantly while she was dealing with her fam, but there was also none of that bullsh*t like she gets trapped in an alternate dimension without him for two arcs or they just miss each other while ML goes to war. I appreciated the romance in someone you could always rely on that always respected your choices. They trusted each other, were on the same page, and the chemistry is there. It's not really heavy romance however because romance is never the main focus. This is a revenge and possibly political novel through and through, but I like the steady kind of relationship here with no particular highs or lows. That's a personal thing for me. They're a team- always on the same side against anyone else.

I was intrigued so to speak and kept reading, but nowadays I reread just a bit and I'm super disappointed. The part that really pissed me off:

Spoiler

Bu Ni Shang, the girl who's arranged to be married to the fourth prince, goes against MC by teaming up with the sister Chen Yu to get the MC r*ped. That's a whole problem on it's own with a lot of webnovels that I won't get into right now because I could go on forever, but in retaliation MC and her bodyguard have her r*ped by a bunch of homeless men who 'can't' control themselves' and homeless men's excuse is it wasn't r*pe cuz she wasn't a virg*n. First of all, how the f*ck is that not r*pe still?

Secondly, I get what Bu Ni Shang did is extremely wrong and there deserves to be revenge obviously, but our MC is like a 28 year old woman before she transmigrated and she doesn't see the problem with this kind of behavior or getting a jealous 14 year old r*ped??? Just kill her and I'd be less offended. She's a woman from modern society that should f*cking know that victim shaming and all this bullsh*t in the ancient world is problematic as hell and she's fighting literal children- stop acting like you're a genius and whatever the f*ck when the opponents are literally kids.
This is a grown ass woman who's dedicating seriously years of her life to her arch nemesis, a teenage girl. It's kind of disturbing but ok, part of the genre I guess. However, what is not part of the genre is the justification! R*pe IS r*pe. Do not f*cking come with the "she's a sl*t so it's ok" justification!
Its disgusting when characters say it but even more so to mention the adult or maybe teen author that wrote that part and thought it was okay to justify that whole scenario with 'she was promiscuous and having s*x with the prince so she deserved to be r*ped and have a miscarriage.' The whole thing is so disgusting.
Even the sister, Chen Yu's r*pe was less awful (still absolutely vile btw) than that because at least you could spin it as a situation of her own making since all the MC did was reverse the situation that Chen Yu manufactured (as in give her the drug that she was trying to use on MC and let it play out (don't quote me on this since it's been years since I read this part- I tend to skip over that whole part cuz I hated it so much the first time)), but Jesus man these are kids.

MC is just so ridiculous when it comes to this shit. R*pe is the first form of 'punishment' she employs for so many situations and that's just gross. She's got all these op powers and she just keeps doing one of the most vile things of all time to get back at people? (Jin Zhen, the maid in the beginning, like what did she even really do besides listen to orders and have an affair with some other servant?)

[collapse]

Over all this novel just pissed me off after a while. Beyond the obvious r*pe punishments that seem so common in c-novels, the mc's attitude of 'you hurt me so I'll make you suffer whether or not the suffering is proportional' just got me fed up. The number of s*upid schemes and the number of times that the whole situation could've been avoided if MC just ended things instead of trying to drag it out like some sort of game pissed me off. There were so many situations where MC could've just destroyed or killed her dad or Chen Yu but she didn't cuz 'there'll be a fun game to watch later'

Additionally, even characters that we are initially meant to like and get attached to do not really get happy endings- literally no one but the MC ML couple really does. For example:

Spoiler

The third sister who is the only sibling we're supposed to like. She is a good girl who later starts to crush on the seventh prince but can't really do anything about it because she doesn't have any tricks or skills like MC. The MC knows about said crush and even sort of encourages it at the beginning with teasing and stuff. Later though, she's like the sis needs a sense of reality so the MC instead of helping her just tells her to basically find something she's good at as if any of the things MC can do would be possible without all her op hacks.

My problem isn't that she doesn't get together with seventh prince but more she never does anything to be considered 'cool or good or even really useful' after that whole arc and she ends up forced together with the fourth prince who seemed like a d*ck since he you know abandoned his pregnant fiancé due to MC schemes (didn't actually get to this part). Plus this is the one sibling MC claimed to like or care about excluding Zu Rui and she just doesn't give a single thought to her? Like if this is MC caring about someone, what the heck. She doesn't help or even say a word of warning to her when she notices that the sister is falling in love too deep or when she realizes it's going to be impossible. Even with my friends I would've said something- even just a little bit. Idk that annoyed me as we were supposed to like Xiang Rong.

Also the whole the mother knows that MC isn't really her daughter and then goes off the rails when MC is just trying to protect her bs. We're supposed to like her in the beginning and we do but then I'm just supposed to be ok with all that shit? I actually think that was a interesting plot point, but the way all the characters villainize the mother for it made it useless. The mother was justified in how she felt and I get that MC was protecting them and could only protect them cuz of mom's weakness but she's somehow supposed to be okay with her daughter being possessed and changing from a kind child to some over the top mu*derer? Even if it's for her sake, that's s*upid.

There's many more. Even the 7th prince who's essentially second male syndrome to the max never gets with anyone and is shown to be lonely or something from what I've heard.

On top of all these bad endings or bittersweet ones, even good/loyal characters aren't really 100% good or whatever except mc/ml. I mean that by I think one of the body guards, Ban Zhou or Bai Ze, makes a mistake at some point I think even with the best intentions and gets punished for it. Or when Zu Rui gets rescued from a kidnapping arranged by the dad, MC forced him to cut off the dads finger. It doesn't make Zu Rui a bad character or anything, but more taints the innocence he's supposed to have as the 'child' that she's protecting. I get that he needs to be used to reality or whatever, but he already was shown to be smart and he was shown to not care about the family besides his mom and MC so what was the point of that except to make him ruthless like MC. MC is kill everyone that disagrees with you type and she wants a 7-8 year old to be the same???

Idk. Also there's An Shi who when original MC was sent to the countryside have them enough money to help them at least a little. She's never malignant and never has the thought of ever harming them, but ends up caught up in a scheme and MC knows that it's not her fault but she still blames her and gets pissed at her. MC says that she protects her own and doesn't care about others, but even the slightest mistake is enough to stop her from considering you her own.

[collapse]

Overall, I'd recommend a lot of other novels over this one since most of the chapters were taken down when it got licensed anyway. The only reason that I gave it 2 starts instead of 1 is because the translator is great and even all the misogynistic, dumb views of author aside, it is well written in the way the author writes details and descriptions and stuff I guess. I don't personally mind the op-ness of MC but all the moral failings of this novel just ruin it along with the black and white MC is good and everyone else is evil bs. <<less

Really liked it when first started.. But now that I look back, truthfully I don't even want to rate it at all..

Stopped reading it long ago can't even remember the last chapter I read.. It's around 800 I guess.. And the reason???

1 - Omnipotent : FL can do anything.. Literally ANYTHING.. Can treat any ailment, even genetic disorders.. Can even do cosmetic surgery.. Can mend shattered kneecap that happened a month ago.. And the patient recovers so well that he can jump around next month..

I treated my broken hand within... more>> a day, yet it took me at least 3 weeks before I could use my hand again.. But then again, my doctor isn't transmigrated, just a normal doctor.. So no wonder he can't compare to this genius..

I still don't understand how did she turned the third prince into a jelly and set his bones the next moment with just a wave of whip.. Well, since she is a divine doctor, it must be a child's play to her..

2 - Wonder Clinic : It contains anything, from medicine to weapons to cooking pots.. And everything is even inexhaustible.. Perhaps someday she might bring out a fighter jet from it.. Who knows !!! Oh.. She can even hide in it and bring others..

3 - r*pe as retribution : FL even enjoys her enemies getting r*ped.. What the f*ck is wrong with this story !!! And it keeps happening..

Do Not Promote r*pe As A Punishment.. I really wonder how did this story get such a high rating!!!

4 - Pedophilia : No matter how old the FL was in modern life, she is occupying a 12 year old malnutritoius kid's body for f*ck's sake.. Yet the 20 years old ML got hard while hugging her !!! Oh my holy sh*t !!! He even said that people got excited over the person the like.. Dude, at least consider her age !!!

Even the seventh prince, my favourite character fell for her.. Everyone falls for the FL regardless of age..

5 - pe*ophile #2 : The fourth prince who is nearing 30, fell for FL's 11 /12 years old stepsister.. I may be wrong since I stopped reading it, but he showed interest in her before.. That's totally sick..

6 - Tyranny : The ML is right out tyrannical.. He kills anyone for questioning him.. And the Emperor turns a blind eye towards him.. No wonder people used to rebel against monarchs.. This type of character simply doesn't deserve to be a ruler..

7 - Hypocrisy : The main characters always do whatever they want.. But no one is allowed to argue with them.. FL kills without batting an eye.. Uses medical skills to harm others.. Isn't she a doctor??? Where's her medical ethics??? She might be a modern person, but she isn't liberal at all..

8 - Master of all trades : She can even refine steel !!! Students of metallurgy, what are you doing wasting time studying all these nonsense.. Look at her.. Proficient in medicine, engineering, fighting, politics and whatnot !!!

8 - s*upid villains : I truly don't understand these villains.. Doing all these preparations, only to get busted by main leads with golden fingers.. Why even try !!! Even the royalties have nothing to do other than poking their noses into people's households..

9 - Fighting prowess : Nothing to say about it.. Also you don't even need physical strength or fitness to use weapons at all.. Just take the bow, it doesn't matter how sturdy it is, then use a few arrows at once, and you can shoot down the target 100 gauges away, even if you're a underweight child..

10 - Useless army : Armies are a country's shield.. Here it's a child's playground.. They can't even compete with our 12 years old heroine.. What's the use of keeping this useless hulks !!!

I can't even remember how many of such stories I've read until now.. Same doctor or assassin's transmigration, same typical prince ML, same OP couple.. Seriously nothing new.. <<less

very poorly written... bland characters, carbon-copy MC, lots of cliche things happening in the story, as well as forced plot... it's not that I am against cliches in novels, but what pissed me off is how the cliche was told in the story, it's just plain horrible, maybe the author is thinking the readers are plain dumb

I don't know what possessed me to read this novel in 2016. Yes I realized that I was brain damaged that time.

At first it seemed like a pretty nice story with our MC having her cheat power but it quickly became bland and boring and the s*upid villains are still not dealt with until very late.

Ugh this story frustrates me so much. Honestly I just dropped it after the drama with the queen. Like enough is enough.

Don't waste your time like I did. Definitely tr*sh novel. Read others.

I reached about 200 chapters before I stopped reading this novel. At first I thought it was quite interesting with the pharmacy, a somewhat united imperial family and the growing love between the female protagonist and male lead, but the scheming started to become repetitive and frankly it bored me. The protagonist also started to exhibit a nasty behaviour that made it hard for me as a reader to cheer for her. In my opinion it's immediate death to a novel as soon as the MC becomes someone hard to... more>> like.

Though I stopped reading this novel more than half a year ago, I stumbled upon the manwha and it was better than the novel since it skipped a lot of nonsense and unnecessary scheming. <<less

Shameless oversimplification: "Adorable romance of an injured prince and his glib tongued and patient resourceful little military-princess, as they (and their friends) struggle to keep their country from falling apart from the inside or succumbing to foreign plots; and their relatives from killing them."

On the surface it's not very special but the combination of it's premise, the main heroine's "technique" in doing things and the way the relationship with the ML is handled makes this for a very fun read when they all aligns for you.

There's plenty of other good... more>> points, such as how the story has both the petty family squables, political conflicts as well as large scale country conflicts all of which are happening at the same time and overlapping as the story progresses. Or how the side-characters are interesting and have their own depth and plenty of ability (well, not all of them do, but plenty enough). But in my opinion to like this the important part is the premise + heroine style + relationship-handling.

Might as well just go though them briefly,

First of all the premise, the FL is the daughter of the "former" first wife, and is forced back from exile along with her little brother and mother, so far not too off-track. However it doesn't take long for her to get some reasonable amount of wealth and followers by virtue of her pre-decided marriage and some circumstances. So now, she's not "poor" but due to family relationships she's still part of the family. This makes for some very interesting inner struggles.

The verbal sparring and counter-plots are very well done, and very satisfying. The main heroine also has plenty of short and long term plans that take many chapters and form slowly over time rather then being instant accomplishments as some other novels do it.

The FL makes plenty of female and male friends, and unlike a lot of stories the ML is pretty cool and onboard with her modern philosophy to relationships. There's also very few wasted words between the ML and FL, most of which is also implied "spent time together each day when [so and so] was happening". The couple comes off as adorable with their obsession for each other, rather then crazy obsessive, which is refreshing and also fits well with other elements of the story in that it's not distracting or unwelcome. If you like your romance to be lighter and with more doing and less wishy washy empty monolog, then you'll be very pleased with the way it's done in this one. The story spends just about the same time on the romance with ML as it does with establishing the relashionship with one of her more friendly sisters, some of her more important followers and so on, which is nice.

Some other details,

    • there's wuxia inner energy but nothing too absurd, the main heroine doesn't care too much about it and uses modern martial arts instead
    • signature weapon is the bow (and whip)
    • there are plenty of followers, recruiting and they stick around and develop alongside the ML & FL
    • the family (on both sides) gets plenty of attention and development (the development is not always positive, but there's certainly development happening)
    • world is logical and consistent
    • the focus is largely on counter-plotting rather then face slapping but there's quite a lot of both, and it's some of the most well executed
    • the heroine has the cheat ability of having access to her own pharmacy as a sort of "inner palace" however she suffers from no end of problems that aren't just solved though the pharmacy
Make of that what you will. <<less

Before the review, awesome translations. Kudos to the translation team!

The plot so far is similar to other novels with female MCs so I won't say much since there are too few chapters. What I want to point out is how much I hate how useless the mother is. It makes me furious to read that women of 'that time' tend to be weak-willed (well, when it comes to the MCs mother). So yah, if you're annoyed by that, it's there. The MC has also met the ML and again, similar... more>> interaction as with the other novels. So far, it's still a fun read. I enjoy anything that has a female MC since there are fewer of those being translated. <<less

2* (downgraded from original high rating, would be 1* but the beginning was good)

My review got long so I'll start with the end:

Basically, I recommend to anyone interested in this story to read until the demise of the third prince (somewhere between ch 300 and 400 if memory serves) and then stop and take it that the couple gets married and become emperor and empress thereafter. That way you get the best part of the story and a sense of closure as one of the first big bad guys... more>> ends. In fact if you look at other reviews most good reviews were made when people hadn't read beyond ch 300 yet, so you'll get the best value out of your time.

Save yourself the pain of falling out of love and deep into disgust with the story by reading more.

Now if you want to know why that is keep reading :)
I absolutely loved the first 300 chapters of this story. Easily 5 stars for the first 100-200 chapters, a couple of morally grey (sometimes black) areas, but that just gave it more flavor and credibility (as credibility goes for these stories).

The MC was badass, a genius doctor/marine, and she dealt with her problems with method. OP but if I didn't like that I wouldn't read this sort of story.

The ML was sneaky and overbearing, but not towards the MC, and while he was described as extremely unreasonable when unhappy, it felt as if that was more a façade to make his enemies believe that he had no subtlety, which was definitely not true. And I liked that for a change he was allies with his father the emperor and not enemies.

As for her enemies they were just the right amount of nasty. Though their powers of denial were particularly well developed. Especially the dad, who started as a decent wall for the MC to overcome, but now is turning out to be a complete fool, because he keeps turning back to old schemes that are NOT working when he could get everything he truly wants by aligning himself with the MC. And their powers of rebirth even more so. I am totally ready to believe that Chen Yu (the older sister) doesn't just have the "aspect of the phoenix" but is an actual phoenix considering how many times she has made a comeback after being punished in ways that should have written her out of the story (it happened at least half a dozen times). It looks as if Fen Dai (the youngest sister) is a baby phoenix who will rival Chen Yu in revival power soon.

But still I was overlooking these things because they had an almost comical value, and I wanted to see how the MC would finally put an end to everything and find her HEA.

The problem is that around ch 300 the MC shed all her smartness and sneakiness and became downright outrageous.
Spoiler

I can tolerate her whipping out a way to mass produce steel from her past life, steel did exist in ancient times, though only in small quantities, after all (though I still don't understand how she transforms the modern technique which includes the use of electricity by using the windpower of giant bellows??). And I can understand her snapping after her mother is harmed in a way even she the genius doctor cannot easily cure, and going on a whipping spree.

[collapse]

It doesn't look as if she's going to come back from that snap. She seems to have abandoned all reason for the easy and faster satisfaction of dealing with her enemies not with cunning but with violence and overbearing social status.
Spoiler

And if there's no need for violence then she just insults them in the most basic and crudest way imaginable, while extorting massive amounts of money from them, and they just agree to pay with hardly any argument...

[collapse]

Her adversaries don't even feel like enemies any more, just a bunch of people throwing pebbles in her way and for some reason she's decided she would take the time to kick every last one of them aside.

I'm taking a break. I'll probably return to it eventually, ever hopeful that I am, but for now I don't want to be more disappointed.

EDIT: so I did start again, skipped the war with Qian Zhou and started again around ch 600 (?). And the result is I'm stopping again (at ch 998), this time for good. The reason is this: I've lost all interest in most characters, especially the main ones.

In fact I'd say the characters are digressing. The author keeps dangling hints that they might progress,
Spoiler

the 3rd sister might finally genuinely accept the 4th princes feelings (who turned into a sweetheart, and is one of the few characters I still like), Fen Dai has thought on multiple occasions that maybe she would have a better ending if she joined hands with Feng Yu Heng (and what a power strike that would be! I would love that),

[collapse]
but I can tell none of that is going to happen they've fallen back into old patterns EVERY TIME (more than three times in any story is overkill and overused, and if there's still no progress the wtf is the point?). In fact the only ones who had any character progression at all were FYH father just as he was about to die, and the 4th prince who at this point might be the only character I still like. Fu Ya had a somewhat interesting, if predictable, journey from FYH follower to FYH enemy, but she ended up serving no purpose whatsoever, which brings me to my next point:

Some characters that could have been interesting ended up never serving a purpose

Spoiler

Someone tell me why the grandfather had to be the transmigrated soul of her previous life's grandfather? The only purpose he's had is to be a her replacement in military doctor purposes when she's too busy with other stuff, he has literally nothing else to do. What was the point of making him a transmigrant then? Even the one thing he was worried about (whether he could fool the emperor into thinking he was still his old friend) happened without a hitch.

Fu Ya was a bit contrived but potentially interesting, but in the end never served her purpose in any capacity. She looks exactly like Feng Yu Heng, but every time she's tried to use that fact, it unravels before it has any impact and Feng Yu Heng never even has to interfere personally. And sure we are warned, FYH keeps telling people things along the lines of "you think it's that easy to be me? HA!" but then if she's right, what was the point of creating a Fu Ya to start with?

[collapse]

Some good characters have changed purpose for the worst (and by worse I don't mean they became bad or evil, I mean they became all but useless)

Spoiler

The emperor who was a refreshingly wise man and ruler early on (compared to s*upid emperors in other stories) has turned into a complete fool and it's not over the woman he loves (which was sweet and made him human). I refuse to believe that he couldn't have shut down the 8th prince ages ago if he was even remotely inclined to and put him under house arrest or something like he did the 4th prince therefore avoiding the need to kill him. Don't give me some nonsense about becoming soft in his old age and not wanting to see his son die, and feeling guilty toward the women of his harem that he abandoned ages ago being the reason for his turning a blind eye toward all the 8th princes misdeeds. If he didn't want his sons to kill each other he should have put a stop to their bad actions earlier. It was certainly implied that he had the cunning, power, and respect to do so.

Speaking of his love, I loved concubine Yun, I think it would have been fine if she kept him shut out of her palace forever, but she let him in and that made me happy too. But now the emperor is clearly acting weird, and she just gives up on him! She doesn't do anything! 20 years of stubbornly refusing to see him, and him just as stubbornly trying to visit her daily, suddenly he refuses to see her 1 time and she just says "okay, I'm sorry I bothered you, it's probably my fault, I'll go lock myself back in my palace". I don't care that her sons say they'll take care of it, where has her spine gone?

I don't remember the last time that the 9th prince who is the MALE LEAD has done anything of substance he's only interested in bedding his wife and his main role to the story now seems to be as a conversation partner to Feng Yu Heng whenever the author needs to explain what her plan is. And now that I think about it Feng Yu Heng hasn't done much interesting lately either, the last arc has been following the 8th prince's cousin and her attempts at discrediting him in the eyes of all, which cost her her own life, but should have worked beautifully, however her efforts will be completely denied by my next point, ergo I don't know what the point of her was either.

[collapse]

the phoenix like ability of being reborn from impossible situations has spread to every bad guy

Spoiler

The 8th prince has killed innocent people multiple times (and been denounced), has betrayed his own supporters expectations multiple times (literally no one but his mother is on his side any more), has been a known traitor to the country for more than 300 chapters and still when he finally had a very literal axe to his neck, he ends up being saved! This is based on ancient China where a rumour of misconduct could get you demoted and executed! Actually there are no MODERN countries that let known traitors to the country get off scot-free, let alone historical ones! And there's no way he's still a contender for the crown when he has no political support left. Also, his treasury seems to be like Feng Yu Heng's magic space automatically refilling itself on it's own every time someone takes something out of it. He's apparently richer than the country, but where are all those riches coming from? He bankrupted his followers, and he seems to be spending like crazy and FYH keeps emptying his hidden treasuries, but he never runs out!?

[collapse]

The trope has lost any comical value whatsoever, and I can't suspend my disbelief any longer.

Basically, I recommend to anyone interested in this story to read until the demise of the third prince and then stop and take it that the couple gets married and become emperor and empress thereafter. Save yourself the pain of falling out of love and deep into disgust with the story. <<less

I have absolutely fallen in love with this tale and as such can not express my gratitude enough for the trouble of translation!

So let's get down to a review, as I can honestly state this story is amazing, however this is only the case if you enjoy endless political rebutes and the cornering of the Feng family through what appears on the out side, as a twelve year old girl. This girl however has the spirit of a 29 year old from the future. (trying to give detail without spoilers!)... more>>

Feng Yu Heng is the main famale protagonist and is one that is simply not easily trampled.... as well as having the most beloved prince of the emperor to back her up and romantic interest. It's a very fast paced read and also one that is hard to put down. As such it has taken me two days to get to the updated chapter and I shall continue to follow what comes next! <<less
