i dont understand the 1-2 ratings.... I have read some absolute garbage on this site with 90% 5 stars.... but this story has over 200 people who disliked it so much that they gave it 1-2....
w/e, humans suck.

there is a plot in this story, the main character is more like a amoral optional boss monster, a lot of s*upid korean manwha trope stuff is in here but its done way better then other places
if u like lit rpgish, dungeon diving on earth, making a guild, and fighting against... more>> a universal planet invading evilish force. this story is worth the read. its pretty old, been completed for YEARS. as others have said, the ending feels a little off. i'd say the actual final page of epilogues is very well done, but the super final battle and conclusion to the problem felt like the author just wrote some sh*t down and peaced out.

4/5 for me, good start, fun middle, badish end. <<less

It would have been a better novel if the MC is rational but he is not. He treat everyone like an ant without considering the openion of anyone else. For him, normal human is either better out of my way or be one of my undeads. So I think he should just make his parents become undead since he doesnt have a common sense. Sigh

An Isekai After-Story that progresses into an exciting dungeon crawler, with political intrigue; only to end up jumping the shark, with some bullsh*t multidimensional eSports and a Matrix-y ending. Yet before the BS towards the end, this novel has some of the hypest moments I've read, some of which involve the side-characters, which is rare for this type of WN. As side characters tend to end up forgotten in similar Korean WNs. Despite this being a bit of a poorly written mess (or maybe it is just the way it... more>> was translated), it's still an easily enjoyable read and Kang Woojin offers an OK power fantasy... for those who enjoy a brutal psychopath. <<less

The ending was rushed but overall it was good. My rating I give it is 4/5. The plot was awesome where every character we t through development before they can become strong. The MC has a cool type personality where he faces problems with his fists (mostly). Definitely a recommendation for people who is interested in reading fantasy

I understand why many readers kinda hate it. Well, this kinda novel suits for those who just wanted to be bad*ss.

The concept of necromancy or something is pretty interesting for most people (especially for me). Though the author tried to make it seem rational, things that can actually be solve in a logical and realistic sense somehow just doesn't make sense anymore.

The MC was okey (at first) but he became inconsistently s*upid and the characters made his arrogant greatness seems pretty exaggerated. The other characters was just there to fan... more>> his heat or something.

Its pretty good if you just wanted to read about the world going crazy or the coming of the apocalypse. <<less

I cannot find where's the hate coming from. Like bruh! Just enjoy the journey of the MC. He is ruthless, badass, and evil. But we cannot deny the fact that at some point, especially dealing with greedy officials and traitors, his decisions make your blood run with excitement when he's giving them what they deserved. And the scenes with his 'loyal' subordinates and side characters are nice and funny.

If you want the concept of Solo Leveling, dungeons and level up, read. If you want the reincarnator type, who knows everything... more>> (enemies, skills, and etc.), read. If you want a MC similar to Choi Hyuk of Sovereign of Judgement (cruel, arrogant, and reckless), but walk all his talks, or Jinwoo of Solo Leveling (one who cares his family and 'comrades'), read. Overall, it's pretty decent and fun. The novel greatly depends on the MC's personality and his actions in given situations. Sometimes, I find it rational but often times, reckless. And that's what makes it fun. He simplifies complicated things such as politics and business with his overwhelming power. Atleast the author properly end his/her craft unlike those BS novels out there.

Duh! Enjoy it. However, if you don't want to, no one forces you tho. Well, this is my first time to leave a review. Just give it a try. If you doesn't feel it around 50 chapters, then press the home button. Ez. <<less

A cousin of I Alone Level Up with shallow characters, uninteresting story and a pretty generic antihero protagonist. It's okay I guess

  1. It has some minor plot holes here and there, the MC is sometimes smart and sometimes dumb, the author's patriotism and dislike of Japan seeped through a couple of times and at points I felt some "game" elements didn't make sense... But it's generally good.

The MC is definitely an interesting guy, most characters are unique and memorable and the story has me hooked... I ended up having difficulty doing anything else over the past couple of days... (Granted, it is coronavirus quarantine time)

    Anyways, it's solid.

It's similar to solo leveling with a darker twist up to a certain point, then gets even better afterwards.

The translation was ok for the most part, but I can't really complain since it's free...

    Disclaimers:

I like anti-hero/villain MCs and country building and necromancy but on the flip side, I dislike game-like systems and.
Edit: just finished it, I kinda liked the plot twist at the ending, made me look at the series even more favourably

I'm glad I gave this a second go. The ending turned out to be pretty awesome.

Spoiler

Kind of miffed about how he it seemed like he threw away his first girlfriend (forget her name) for Melody. Not sure if that was the author's intention at the end, but it sure seemed that way. Also, seemed like the author would just introduce supposedly important characters and toss them aside. Besides inconsistencies like that, I really enjoyed the story.

I'd rate this novel 80/100, a solid B. Its good, but some aspects are a bit wacky. The novel is plot driven and moves along pretty fast so you won't be bored at any moment. It has a pretty strong beginning where the MC has some OP skills and is put into an Earth where dungeons are showing up in subway stations around the world and people are able to gain skills and level up by fighting monsters from the dungeons.

You can tell by the novel that the author is... more>> trying to explore some thoughtful themes and ideas about the MC and his environment. This is good in the sense that its not a mindless soulless word padding novel (which there are a lot of these days). The author explores a lot of things which are interesting:

  1. How an extremely OP necromancer who has more combat power than the government actually interacts with the government and modern societal norms such as individuality, freedom, value of human life. Can somebody like this be controlled by the government?
  2. It also explores how Korean government and society can evolve or fall apart when met with a catastrophe like dungeons. Would common people rise up to defend their home? Would the rich and and powerful sacrifice their own wealth and resources to protect the common people? (Answer is mostly no)
  3. How would mankind actually react to a threat of alien (dungeon monster) invasion. Would we all band together and create a world government? Or would certain countries try to sell out the rest of mankind to protect their own country?
Because the beginning is strong and you can tell the author is thoughtful in his writing, I am giving this a decent score but there are some wacky things that drag it down.

  1. The author in the second half the novel, turned the novel from a dungeon clearing story to a dungeon master story. Basically certain dungeons the MC can capture and become the dungeon master of it, giving him powers to renovate the dungeon, bring in different races to live and cultivate his land, and defend against others invading his dungeon. Also, dungeon owners can battle each other with a Warcraft 3 RTS style game.
  2. The MC is a little bit too OP and it makes his mentality unstable. He basically has an army of undead familiars and a skeleton army and he's killed millions of monsters and a lot of humans too.
  3. At the very end of the novel, it gets even more wacky when its revealed that all you've read is actually a virtual reality and the real earth is a barren wasteland, so it turns into like sci-fi futuristic thing. But then virtual world and the real world somehow magically melds together, like wut??
Enjoy the first half of the novel, where the MC is lvling up with his OP skills, slapping arrogant idiots around, and gathering a cadre of subordinates. Just be mentally prepared that the ending of the novel is a bit wacky. <<less

Absolutely loved this novel. Badass MC that doesn't take crap from no one (once he got his powers back). Had moments I found extremely hilarious. While the ending was a bit weird, I still felt that it wrapped up nicely.

English is not my mother tongue; please excuse any errors in my comment.

My favourite novel so far with Renegade Immortal.

The MC is just a badass and a true anti-hero until the very end. He slaughtered so many people that no one ever disrespected him while truly knowing what he had done on Alphen. It became even more apparent as his 20 years of life on this planet became know to everyone on Earth. The fact that that he never tried to hide his real age and status as a king... more>> is also a big plus. From the start he is recognized by both his allies and enemies for being one of the strongest/cruellest man. His arrogant behaviour never seem out of place as he have the achievements and the fame that stem from them to back it up. Furthermore, the MC is never truly weak as he regains his old powers quickly, surpassing them even.

What made me love this protagonist is that he stays true to his character.
Spoiler

From the beginning to the end he is Kang-Woojin, the King of Alandal, the King of the Dead and the Immortal. His status is one of a self made emperor who founded his own kingdom, country, guild, and dimensional domain. If we add to this his feat of merging the Virtual World and Real World while also cutting the Tunnels/Dungeons to the other 72 Dimensions he can even be acknowledged as a God.

[collapse]

The ending did not truly disappoint me (even though it's quite hard to understand) as everything concluded without nerf for the MC or twist like "it was all just a dream".

Spoiler

Kang Woojing retained his powers and even gained the new title "God of Destruction". All the characters including Dr. Toppler, Captain Leone and all Alphen residents remained alive. Kang Woojin will even be able to see his second love interest, Melody, on Alphen that now has replaced Mars. I found it to be a nice touch as Kang Woojin still lived 20 years on this planet so it would have been a shame if it simply disappeared.

It was a fascinating novel, I enjoyed the MC's personality and the fact that despite his OP-ness, it didn't turn into a Harem.

However... I must take out a star because of the abrupt ending. I mean, it would have been better to continue on explaining a few things, and what frustrates me most is the fact that the MC's relationship with ... more>>

Personally I don't like how the story went towards the end, but overall it starts quite good and the story flows quite well.

There's not much of a plot twists at the start till almost the end, although there is huge twist at the end, also the character is quite consistent but don't have any growth or twists.

What I don't like is how the logic at the end evolve into.

Spoiler

a revelation that the world MC knows is just VR, then somehow the MC turns a VR into reality itself, quite a shock and a twist, but not really awesome, rather feels forced

I read this while piling up chapters on other novels that I'm reading and I think it's a good novel to read for the same reason I did it. If you have nothing to read and do, you're waiting to pile up chapters on other novels or something in those lines, you can read this.

The MC is so much OP that he never lost. Have a hard time figuring out how he defeated opponets 30+ levels ahead of him early in the novel but whatever. It just shows you how... more>> much OP he is. He ain't like the other MCs around here, he'll kill, he'll massacre, he'll do whatever he needs to do to get to his goal but sometimes he won't. The author just made him inconsistent.

The novel deoesn't deserve a 5* not does it deserve a 1* so I guess I'm rating it a 3*. <<less

An enjoyable read. Loved the first 100 chapters especially. Would highly recommend reading this, but my only gripe about it is the ending. Unfortunately, either the author wanted to end the series fast or the author really thought that the ending was a good idea. However, if you want a story where the MC starts out as a level 1 character and then using skill advances to a higher level of "play" or actions, and with an attitude of I'm better than you but I don't say it, then this... more>> is a story you can enjoy.

Not sure if the following is really a spoiler, but leaving the tag anyway:

Spoiler

Basically the ending was similarly as bad as Mass Effect 3's ending. It wasn't a choice for the reader, but it was one of those "did all of this really happen" or something like "it was all just a game the entire time". Honestly those kind of endings are the worst for me because it makes the reader (me) feel like the other red-conned the entire series that you just finished reading.

This novel consists of the MC being teleported back to Earth after suffering for 20 years in another planet to discover Earth is in danger where he acts more like a protector of the ones close to him while ignoring the rest of the world criticism towards his actions.

The story is well written and was able to capture my attention through its entirety using the mix of RPG and apocalypse theme that it contains. The minor negative points that I found was the Korean nationalism contained in the story (with... more>> a bit of prejudice against Japan also), the "romance" (which was a bit forced and the novel would be better without any of it whatsoever) and the MC glorifying that is common to many stories.

Overall, it is a fun read that I would recommend. <<less

My 4 star rating is based on

Plot 3.5 /5
Pacing 3.5 /5
Characters 4 /5

Similar with most Korean Novels, pacing is slow for the 1st 10-15 chapters. But once you've trudged through all of that, things become more interesting towards chapters 40 and on. Its like a crawl, walk, run and sprint pace.

The cast is quite plot driven, there are no side stories on this boat ride. You will follow the MC on about 80% of this story, and the rest will be about the supporting cast and how they... more>> contribute to its flow.

The short and simple summary, the MC returns to his home and he just wants to protect those dear to him.

I'm a little annoyed by the ending and I do want more, but at the same time. Any more than the current end, will basically lead into another can of worms. I'm still have a bit of mixed feelings, but overall I am content with this outcome. <<less

The MC seems to be quite an audacious d*ck that can't keep to his word so far so regardless his good intentions I wouldn't give him a cent if it was me.

I have nothing against people being c*cky but the last time I had to deal with a overly familiar and demanding 'friend' that is dirt poor I kicked him out of my house and never let him in ever again.

You touch the door of my fridge like you are at your own house without asking for permission and you're... more>> done. Never show your face to me again. As a first impression like in this case that is shit. <<less

Started this few days ago, read it out quite quickly, translator made a crap ton of childish grammatical errors, mostly towards the tenses to be used so it was bearable. However the story is okay, main character's ruthlessness and methods are why I read this, many various gaming elements were thrown into this to be forgotten coming to the rushed ending. That brings us to the ending, utter shit.
