I’ll Live My Second Life!

Fii was the first princess of the rural nation, Déman.

One day, she became engaged to King Roy; an icy king with both beauty and ability, whose management ability was perfect, and who would be perfect save for his coldness towards women.

The engagement was not really anything for her to celebrate though.

Why? Because her younger sister with both beauty and fame, whose personality was great, who held a mysterious power and who was a soothing miko had gotten into a marriage of love with said king. And Fii, her twin, had just come along with her as a set bonus.

She was treated as a stain on the fairy tale, but after a certain event, Fii decided she didn’t care any more.

She didn’t care about this lifestyle where she never saw her husband even once, where she would spend the rest of her days rotting away in a royal villa.

She was going to live her second life!

That was the decision she came to.

So far I enjoy the story. The translation is good. I can guarantee it since Este is the translator.

About the MC, she is an energetic, independent and optimistic girl. Even though her situation makes me wanna cry sometimes, she has never been once crying about it.

Spoiler

She only cries when a knight gives her food after hardly eating anything 3 days. And one time when she thinks she fails to obtain the new life she has always wanted

[collapse]

About her parents, well, they were made to be hated. The so call great king is a grand idiot who wasn't even care giving food to his second queen. Her twin sister is a coward girl but it can't be helped since she was raised by those s*upid parents. Otherwise, the other characters are interesting.

My favorite are Kain and Doug lol <<less

Rewritten, for some reason this was completely marked spoiler.

This story is pretty good, and I hope it makes it to a light novel, but there are two glaring problems. One is the King, he's kinda like a tsundere character, but the worst kind. I ended up strongly disliking the tsun part too much to care about him at all. Secondly, the plot twist was too hard for me to handle. I become too set in my feelings for the characters that I can't really enjoy the plot twist.

I will probably... more>> come back and read this some time and enjoy it more, but for now I will have to part with it.

I recommend reading this, but some better foreshadowing is needed for people like me. <<less

Whenever I read about her depressing situation, I can’t help that my heart just feel for her.

Some of what I’ll say are spoilers so read with caution! (Can’t seem to get the spoiler function on)

Her country is awful to her, her parents are just the same, though I am glad that her younger sister cares for her and few others, however even as she was forcefully sent along with her sister to another country, she is greatly misunderstood and no one tried to even understand her! Only reading the... more>> surface but not inside.

Now that I have read until ch 18, I really hope she does not fall for the guy, a.k.a King/Captain. Though his thinking process of suspecting Fii is not wrong but it is still unfair, he did not think of their situation deeply enough! Even if he didn’t, as a husband, he still has a duty of taking care of his wife! No excuses!! And seriously, just reading the part where he criticized her was enough to get my blood boiling!!

Mostly what I said is probably due to emotion so forgive me if I said anything unpleasant. <<less

The light novel ending was bad and left me completely unsatisfied. There was so much potential. I liked the web chapters a lot more, but I can’t find them anywhere. The translations are off around chapter 80 because of the google translation and machine translations. Also, unfortunately it seems like it’s in a hiatus. I recommend reading the web chapters if they ever pick up.

This kind of reminds me of Tamora Pierces book (not a light novelist a regular one) It's on the top 100 childerns book of all time. It's called The Song of the Lioness or something. Very good book series honestly just about everything from her was good.

I enjoyed the book it's a sold 4.5. It could use a little more action and mission scene though. I saw other reviewers say shes "flirting with all the boys, "... she's not flirting shes mostly existing until the book hits almost the third... more>> book. Even then she's just not connect to her feminity in relationship to men. Because she grew up as a negligent child. The author does a really good job with kids who grow up like that giving her a lot of nuance in her interaction with other people. Sometimes stuff just FLIEs over her logic and that happens when you grow up that way. Weirdly, shes better at flirting with women if you could call treating maids like women and being nice to them flirting.

I think I'd love the same tale with a lot more magic as well over all enjoyable. I'd love more adult years content from this and post (story). just a nice job.

If you are wondering the light novel has the whole book so just read the light novel. Although the web novel is different in places. The ending is ok and I get it but I'm not totally pumped about it. But in it's own way it's kind of honest.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the 4.5 issss mostly because I just enjoyed it so much this really is a taste thing. <<less

The novel is extremely good, and the translations are also good. That is the reality until chapter 109. The novel has been picked up, but it's mt-ed and it's so difficult to read I want to drop it. I'll wait until a new translator picks it up.

It doesn't contain too much romance; it's more of a fantasy novel. Though it's a harem novel, there are few love interests and almost no romantic development. Author has said that they are planning to include romance at the last part of the novel.... more>> It is pretty much about Fii's life as an apprentice knight and hasn't got too much character development, she just wants to stop being useless and not needed for, as well as she wants to be free. I think the novel is written towards a younger audience, since it contains lots of comedy and medieval fantasy.

About the protagonist, I love her. She's a bit dense though, but that's because she's not particularly interested in love. And the MC's sister is not very likable - that is, at least for me. It's not like she's a bad person but her personality is simply too passive. Fiiru could have helped her sister if she had wanted to. But she didn't, and there is no excuse to it. I also don't know why Fii didn't ask for a better treatment, she was (and is) a princess. But, from Lynette's point of view, it is because she doesn't want to burden others with her problems, and she only acts when someone is in trouble.

Then there's the King.
Spoiler

He is an unlikable character; he prioritizes saving time and efficiency over anything else, and that has caused the actual situation of Fiiru, in which she wants to become a real knight.

[collapse]

From the cover of the book, I think
Spoiler

Doug/Kooine/Kuinu/Kooinu/Queen is the ML, but I'm not entirely sure.

I don't understand all these rave reviews. Are we really reading the same novel?

The beginning represents the book. And here we get acquainted with an absolutely far-fetched, frivolous story without any adequate explanations. The very story of the "bad king" and his falling in love with his youngest daughter is sewn with white threads. Have you ever seen newborn babies? They are blue-purple and look like homunculi. No newborn looks somewhat beautiful to forget about his first daughter and give all the attention to the youngest. In general, a good... more>> idea, but the implementation... a child. All these evil villains and unfair injustices... The story must be written plausibly so that you can empathize with the hero. Here, everything is so falsified that it looks like bad fan fiction. I assume that this novel was written by a child, and the translator took it on an ordinary Japanese website, where anyone can post their work.

I can't give this a score higher than one to counterbalance an unfair rating. It's misleading, and I really don't understand who gives this novel high marks. Children? <<less

I caught up with the raws back when this novel went on hiatus years ago, but even after I'd forgotten the storyline, the impression left on me is so huge that until now I still remember how much I like this story.

I particularly like the MC and (probably, most likely to be Doug/Kooinu/Cooine?? What is his name) ML's character growth after the expedition arc.

If you're looking for romance, just know it's so scarce, it really took me 197 chapters, as well as copy and pasting the Japanese novel title into... more>> Google Chrome images, then coming across a picture of their marriage that is either official or incredibly professionally fanmade, to realise that the ML is probably not the King. <<less

There's both character development and world building, and so far the pacing is pretty good.

MC is a rare non-OP protagonist who isn't a damsel in distress, it's not an easy mark and isn't a ruthless killer type, which means she's a well-balanced character that even if a bit cliché still stands out. She's fun and charismatic and reminds me of main characters from animes like naruto, fairy tail and others, where she's determined, and lacking a little common sense, but in a more subtle way.

Almost every character have a purpose... more>> and the ones that don't, still have their time in the story and are not only present in some part to later be forgotten.

Only by what I just said you can see that this is already of a better quality than other novels, but the writting is also a good point, even if there are still some points that were not really well explained (like why she suffered so much) you can get pass them because the rest is worth it.

I'm really glad I've read this even tho I was a little skeptical in the beggining.

The reviews on the translator's website probably come from the first releases because the links are working now. And for me, so far the translation is very good but English is not my main language so I probably don't notice as many mistakes anyway.

Maybe I'll edit this later on because I've seen other novels drop tremendously in quality, but for now I definitely recommend it. <<less

i rate it 3 for it’s audience, but it Could be less for many grown up, As# there is very little Substance
It’s basically something that reads like a manga, for a younger teen audience.
i read comparisons to skip beat, I would add the color of heroic fantasy, in a modernized version (food and light, shopping addiction, on top of knights Ninja and sword)

the characters don’t have much depth, but there also ok by the standard of one piece, fairy tale or hunter x hunter, there are a bit caricatural, defined by strong archetypes (the strong, the fast, the smart, the girly one, etc) - you could expect them to grow some depth later on, if they become the subject of a story arc

the story arc also proceed like manga with thin obsessive arc about silly things And a main plot that is very very slow to grow.

it’s ok for teenagers light read, it’s cute and light, the MC is mischievous and not girly at all - honestly, the gender blender part is light. But if you expect much, you’ll easily be disappointed

The MC is interesting and not a drama queen. Also her background is a bit saddening but she's an optimistic character. The characters are interesting and have there own unique personalities and not just a little bit different. If you have the time you should read this.

The story is so cliché but I love those kind of novels.

At first I thought the story was going to be the MC that goes through a story hated by everyone because I recentelly read a story like that. And IT WAS SOO DEPRESSING. T-T
But this story is very.. Cute and maybe needs a little bit more of fluff but I can wait!~

To those MC like her who thinks something like: "It's more painful if someone is in pain bc of me so I prefer to take the burden all by myself." or "I don't want to be an eyesore to everyone so I'm okay even if they don't care."

DAMN HAVE MY ENERGY KAWAII AND BRAVE MC!

If my English was a little off sorry lol. I am Chinese person that doesn't know how to speak Chinese but Italian very well but visually I'm Chinese so.. Italianise?

I'll rank it 4 for now

The novel is still an unrefined gem. Still waiting for the development and waiting for the reason of the injustice our M.C that she didn't deserve.

I feel like I wanna take care of her and falling in love on her character. Can't stop admiring her strong will and wanna see her succed. The king and her family doesn't deserve her, they don't know her worth and don't deserve to know.

Reversed harem flag is fluttering and alreary choose my vessel, her classmate that knows her secret...... more>> my own bias jugdement for they are cute. Fiis' Dog I am rooting for you. Innocent and fluffy. hehe. He should take responsibility on seeing her beautiful naked body haha.

Male Lead is not yet confirmed and I object if King Roy is the M.L, he is not worthy for Fii. Unless the author has Stockholm Syndrome.

The story is interesting but wish for more updates.... <<less

From the look of the Synopsis, this story doesn't look at interesting, until I visit oniichanyamete page and see how many people vote for this story, I gave it a shot. Out of my expectation, this story is hilarious, so many contradictory is being made
Spoiler

the king that leave Fii (the MC) to rot in seclude villa, end up recruit her in his special knight force, and didn't even know about it. His loyal Grass (ninja like soldier) that the king use to observe Fii wanted to tell him that Fii was in the special knight force but can't (due to his position, which is not to be out of line).

She have a sad and endurance life, being mocked by others. Her personality is nice, and she doesn't like to bother people, but her energetic personality make this novel have a really nice atmosphere.

I love this story. Contrary to what others say, I personally do not really hate the male protagonist since he had a reason for it. He is just cautious like every king needs to be. Though what he did to princess Fii is really despicable, it's a mistake and misunderstanding on his part. (Since almost all of you were enraged because of this, it just mean that the author is soo good and so effective in writing. Thumbs up author-san!) I am still hopeful that his character will develop in... more>> the subsequent chapters. This is a good read for me :) and to the translator, please continue your good work! : D <<less

This has a great concept and a very promising first few chapters. I still love where the plot is going, but some of the writing... is kinda mediocre. Like many things the author says just come out of the blue and don't flow well at all. It's hard to explain, but a lot of the time I just feel that it doesn't read well.

It stretches the reality quite a bit but makes a well put slow pace slice of life story.

The MC decides to crossdress as a man to get a job as a knight so that she can escape her terrible living conditions.

There's a lot of hilarious shenanigans with MC but there's not much plot or character development cause it's mostly about MC finally getting a new life for herself. Of course there are developing plot in the background but it isn't really known by MC yet.

Overall a 2.8 star story. I'm... more>> not that happy with this especially since there's no consistency between the translation quality and it's not a story that would keep me interested in it long term. <<less

I really enjoyed the story until the translator changed several times. There were a lot of things inconsistent with the first translation that makes it hard to enjoy the novel.

I might drop this for now and come back to it later as I am really curious about Fii's future overall. However, currently I find it hard to follow the story due to inconsistencies with different translation groups along with the less interesting (compared to the earlier chapters) story.

Writing is very low level. It's like I'm reading something meant for 2nd graders with how short each chapter is and how short minded the writing is. Plot seems fine. Characters are something you'd find in a 2nd grader book or something you'd find in any of the dozens of web novels with similar premises.

Chapter 15 might not be very far, especially since the chapter length are all over the place (but often short), but I couldn't get excited about anything.

It's not that the writing is bad, it's not like the characters are especially bad, and there seem to be a proper story, even the translation and editing is nice.

I tried reading the last few chapters, and it still didn't make me want to read what is in between either.

Spoiler

Well, the king is supposed to be superbly intelligent and all, but he makes s*upid decisions in many places, including the treatment of our main character, left to die in a corner, supposedly guarded so she doesn't go outside. Yet, she managed to escape multiple times without alerting anyone.
The knight unit is supposed to be a covert ops thing, and they are not even capable of finding out the identity or even gender of their new recruit (it's not like the disguise is superbly done either), making the whole unit seem a bit weak.

[collapse]

Anyway, it's not technically a bad novel, but I don't have the wish to continue reading it. <<less
