Ugh the rating for this novel disappoints me. This novel is an irregular, although it is a bit jumbled, it is one of those stories that I've read over and over. I love the characters and the crazy plot. This novel is a light read for anyone. The reviews that rate this so poorly are looking at it much more seriously than they should for this kind of novel. The plot makes no sense and the characters are so spread out you have no idea who is who. This is... more>> a novel where you can away with reading it in a day, perhaps as a filler in between two more serious novels. This novel is not one for deep thoughts, it's a cheap comedy romance about a family that makes no sense. You will find nothing else like this, that I can say for sure! <<less

Okeey, I've read the first six chapters now, and that's enough. What's with the rollercoaster speed? Is the house of fire? Need to catch the bus? This story is skipping steps everywhere. This isn't a story anymore. This is more like a 100-chapter book being crammed into a twelve episode anime. No Fun at all.

Low rating's for a reason!

I was so confused with the varied rating & reviews of other ppl, that I decided 2 give it a shot which turned out 2 be a waste of time

I expected smart underworld stuff, but it was a frikking s*upid rom-com-action mashup :/

In fact, As soon as I was a few chapters into the novel, I hoped that the kid grows up & the story is about him because the MC's were just that pathetic but now I'll never know because I'm giving up on... more>> it. <<less

The current links aren't working so I went looking in other places, but had to stop after the first few chapters.

I liked the quirky characters, their personalities are fun and honestly I thought there was a lot of potential.

But then they started interacting with each other and everything went wrong.

The strong and determined female researcher who knows what she wants (ie a kid but no husband) and makes plans to get it, turns into a scared and guilty mouse in front of the male lead and then to mush the... more>> second she's in his bed the very night after he kidnaps her from her home and back to his lair (where did the brain and the spine go?).

The smart kid bored with school, who can take care of himself and loves his mom even though she's forgetful when she's doing research, is so thrilled at finding a father that he disregards the kidnapping and forceful way in which his parents are reunited, to push his mom into staying with his dad.

And the handsome rogue of a main lead who plays the role of a heroic gangster becomes a brute with no finesse when he discovers he has a family and just uses brute force to take them back to his home (honestly I would have liked a blackmail sort of plot way better than this bludgeoning of a kidnapping, and couples that get together because one is blackmailing the other tend to leave me glaring at the screen).

Add to that issues in the way the story is built and told (don't know if the original writing is at fault, or the translation too bad, though I'm usually good at overlooking that sort of thing) and I had to stop after just a few chapters.

I see some positive reviews saying it should be read as a light read with a crazy plot, and I guess I agree, but crazy plots can be well executed, this isn't it. If you want a light-hearted story with a crazy plot that's well made, go read My dad is the galaxy's prince charming.

Too bad for this one, because I really did like their personalities, and the original premise of the story, but it's just too badly executed for my taste. <<less

The female lead acts like a female lead from a cannon fodder counterattack novel. Unfortunately, this isn't a counterattack novel and there is no second female lead to save us from this book. ... more>>
Spoiler

Don't be tricked by how she plotted to 'only' get a son (not a husband). I dislike how forced the love story was when she slept in his room the first night at his house--despite believing that he wants to take custody of their son. Oh, and the man sleeps naked, so she slept naked, too. Sooo.... ugh.

Writing in more of script like format this an excellent story about how family and how it's not perfect. I would recommend this story to those looking for an example of brilliant characters and O.o plot. It's a brilliant slapstick comedy for those to enjoy.

I feel like this novel lacks preparation.

1. Inconsistent character. The attitude of FL inconsistent with her IQ and her job where the author seems to adjust the character's attitude depending on the scene he/she wants to happen, not the other way around.

2. FL jobs that are misrepresented. Again, authors like randomly assigning FL jobs without just doing a little research on the job just to highlight FL's cleverness. I can't stop thinking which s*upid employee put the petri dish filled with bacteria in her bag and carried it around?

3. Lack... more>> of hook. For the 6 chapters I read, I just felt how s*upid and absurd FL was that I didn't feel at all interested in knowing more about her. <<less

I loved the story at the begining. As most other readers have mentioned after chapter 30 something the story looses focus with the whole time traveling thing. Additionally, the story does not connect well. There are too many substories and events that end to quickly, and then the characters reappear chapters later and its hard to remember who they are. Also by the end of the novel new characters are introduced and then dissapear so quickly, yet the story revolves around them and not the main characters. The last few... more>> chapters can be read for boredom and comedy basically <<less

This is bad, hilariously bad. I would have given more stars because it at least made me laugh in some places, but in the end, I just felt like I'd wasted my time.

This story is barely coherent. Everytime there is continuity in the story I'm shocked because it just seems like several scenes that aren't at all connected strung together. In the middle a random character is even introduced out of nowhere and I wondered how she was supposed to fit in the story for a few chapters. I wondered... more>> if we'd switched protagonists, but no.

In the first place, there isn't much about the son despite the title, it's all about he main couple and the supposed genius Zhen Zhen acting like an idiot, she gets kidnapped several times and even gets someone killed in her s*upidity. Then we have several women and men falling for the male and female lead respectively for no reason. It gets crazier when ZZ is pregnant, she gets kidnapped, Gu Zhai goes to save her and their daughter only to get shot. She thinks he died when he actually has amnesia and cries herself blind, but of course they meet at a cafe a year later, he gets hit by a car while pushing her out of the way, and she finally decides to get the surgery for her eyesight when she hears the person is her husband. Then around ch60s it's finally the eldest son's story time. He's all grown up and in college, of course he has admirers too (but only after it's out that he's a young CEO and his dad is rich.) Also, his sister is a brat, and she's a 15 year old girl but she's left as the head of her Dad's mafia organization (or whatever it is, several people call him triad boss and he sells guns, before retirement.) Everything first passed to the son, then he passed the underground business to his sister. There's some drama toward the end with the woman who looked after Gu Zhai while he had amnesia and her daughter, then Zhen Wu marries his childhood sweetheart, the end. Never mind that there's several parts that still make zero sense, I'm just glad it's over.

Oh, and to make it more confusing, there was some random stuff in the middle about Your Gu Zhai actually being a time traveler from the past, his mom and dad are still there and his little brother born from a concubine was left to become emperor in his place. I was actually more interested in the brother than the main storyline (Yue Dui Yi?) I'm sad we never see more of him after they go back in time. <<less

This novel is so hilarious I cannot make anything out of the plot. The progress is so jumbled I felt like I was skipping rope at a rocky place. My head hurts. I want to know if the story was translated as is or if it was summarized? Sorry translators, but the story progress is so weird. The characters is also weird.

This is my 2nd attempt to read it. I can't take it anymore and will stop here.

I am not sure whether the story is so elementary or is the translation so bad that it stripped the story to its bare necessity like 'i come, I see, I conquer', end of story. Even a MTL translation attempts to go word for word but this translation makes feel like I am back in kindergarten, learning English. I apologize if I am wrong and that the original novel is written like this. Besides... more>> the monotonous writing, the plots are also very elementary and illogical. <<less

time travelling, the ML is an imperial son - first son and the mother is so young but can kick ass and be sassy about it - and then there's the amnesia thing - all I can say everything is all over the place.

i feel like the author wanted to put all tags in this one story: rom-com, time-travel, amnesia, genius, perfect male lead, genius beautiful female lead

everything feels out of place.

what begins as something spectacular crumbles down. Its sad that it seems to have potential but everything is a mess. : ( <<less

This is a light-hearted hot mess of a story. If you want to relax from more serious stories I recommend this. After the first 30 chapters it stops being about the main couple. Too many characters, too many subplots. I stopped after 60+ cause I wanted a sweet romantic story about the main couple but this.... it's just unbelievable. There's historical elements, time travel, mafia, kidnapping, endless cannonfodder characters. Basically everything you can name

This is a kind of story that is in a sense, so terrible it's actually amazing. It starts off as your typical pushy Male MC pushes female into a relationship and ends in a heartwarming way with far too many awesome characters to count. If you enjoy thoughtful, long winded novels and hyper repetitive drama and a weak female lead, this series isn't for you. It's silly, goes through many of the motions, makes the meaningless challenges that come between our main couple seem like the meaningless things they are,... more>> and will leave you with laughs when the story takes you for a roller coaster ride through twists both so cliche, yet many times so imaginative that you just can't help but laugh. Fair warning, this is the fastest paced novel you might ever end up reading, and to it's credit, the story somehow still manages to work to deliver a somewhat cohesive narrative. Although when first reading this I felt that it could easily be expanded upon, given everything that occurs and the several thousand chapter epic this story could have been, I felt far more satisfied that it instead of being a huge melodramatic piece of garbage, it was instead a fun far more compact novel that I feel, made fun of many of it's moments by the sheer fact that they were a part of it.

It started out very good. Moreover with underworld as its backdrop and unique characters as protagonists, the story can be given four-star. You’ll laugh along with the characters antics, which made it enter fun read category.

However, around chapter 40s, the story that started as underworld boss romcom turned into time-travel fiction (I believe tag “Science Fiction” could be added here) with choppy storyline. The storytelling also became worse as the story goes on. Many side characters appeared with no sufficient explanations, and conflicts ended too quickly and unsatisfactory.

Beautiful Wife And... more>> Genius Son can be developed better, as it has good materials, but unfortunately it has reached final. <<less

If you can ignore the fact that the female lead was willing to drug someone for a son and has been to more brothels than a middle aged business man, the series still can't be more than a mediocre daytime soap opera. The story just tries to cram too much in at once, from pregnancies, amnesia, kidnapping, pointless side characters with dramatic but uninteresting backstories, that it never really bothered to develop the characters into people we'd care about when they encounter all these things. Honestly, the story bit off... more>> more than it could chew and it's characters were just going through the motions, but lacked any depth. <<less

I always give a novel/book 5 chapters before judging, but this was a pain to get though. It's not like the story itself is bad, it's just that everything moves so quickly and seemingly jumps around randomly to the point where you can't really tell what's happening at what time. If the author had slowed down the pace and developed more on character relationships as well as dialogue, this could have been really good. Some scenes had potential squeal and fan-girl factors, but they went by so fast and so... more>> dully that it wasn't interesting at all. Some characters are not even clarified on who they are, such as this teacher person. I don't know if it gets better later on, but after reading 5 chapters, I don't think I could stand to read anymore. <<less

It's really just a silly story.

I figured I'd read this even though the other reviews were telling me it is s*upid, because "s*upid" was what I needed after reading an angst/abusive 'love' novel. It was the right choice and, fortunately, the reviews let me know what to expect.

Our MC, despite her high IQ, makes confusing and/or s*upid choices, and sometimes what she does is illogical. Perhaps, if it were to be explained why she does what she does, and what she's thinking then it would make more sense.

There are also... more>> times when names just pop up, in terms of new characters appearing without an explanation as to who they are, just their names. It got confusing at the start when the MC first met the ML and his aids/friends. If the author would explain who people are when we read about them for the first time that would be great.

This is a story to read when you just need a silly story to feel better. Or, if you are in the mood for simple nonsense. It's not logical and the MC is sort of just doing what the author wants her to do, but it's still kind of good. <<less

I just finished reading this novel, and I can say that the plot is amazing. However, I will rate it only as 3 stars. First of all, the scenes are too rush. They solved a problem then a new one will pop out. It will be better if they given it a momentum by giving details. Furthermore, situations happened out of no where.

Spoiler

Reynold and Zhen Zhen. When did they have a good relationship??
