I think this is one of the better transmigration/system/villain novels, due to how the relationship between the characters are portrayed and the pace of the romance.

The MC is very likable, and his personality causes a lot of hilarious misunderstandings. He's kind of dense, and he seriously believes that his actions are pushing the ML onto the correct path, when it's the opposite...

The ML isn't a very unique character (think of the typical clingy to MC but cold to others type) but his interactions with the MC are very fluffy and... more>> cute. I did have some issues with how the ML easily trusted the MC's sudden change in personality, but the subsequent fluff made up for it, I guess. Sadly enough, in the current chapters (ch.45) he's been taking a backseat to all the MC's family issues. I hope that changes soon.

One thing I really love about this novel is how there is no r*pe. I REPEAT, no r*pe. My god. So many of the novels with these tropes end up going the r*pe-y route because the ML suddenly can't control his feelings towards the MC, and the author uses the r*pe as a way to "wake up" the dense MC. While the ML in this novel steals some kisses, it's way better than other novels where the ML completely forces the MC. And because the ML doesn't r*pe the MC, there is no angst leading up to their relationship! Yay for more fluff and cuteness overload.

While the novel portrays the romantic aspects well, the action scenes are kind of disappointing. Cultivation isn't really explained in detail (and I didn't even bother to memorize terms), and I'm not even sure what the MC's strength is compared to the ML's right now. Even though this is a BL romance novel, it's still in the xianxia genre, so I kind of expected a bit more action.

The side characters, though few, are quite interesting too. I really like the MC and ML's master, and I think there might be a side-pairing involving him and another character? That's cool, more love to go around~

But yup, this is a really good novel for readers who are into "I've transmigrated into a villain and I must avoid death flags with the help of a system" novels. <<less

I think I giggled through all 35 chapters. I don't think I have ever used this word to describe a novel, but I just gotta use it for this one. It is absolutely adorable!!! However, it isn't all fluff! It is a mix of adorable, cultivation, intrigue and more! Ugh!, now I have to wait "patiently" for more chapters. It is hard for a person with closure issues. Anyway, it is worth your time to stop and read. Your time will be well spent!

Many said this a popcorn type novel, but personally this story should have big trigger warning. The fact that ML jealous of MC's (the original owner) brother is very toxic. Also ML is very emotional manipulative, he keeps pushing the narrative that he only has MC and using it to always guilt-trip MC gaining whatever he wants from MC. He also in a way try to isolate the MC by making sure that no one will come close to MC including MC's (original owner) family. A bottle of vinegar ML... more>> is cute, but Xie Xi is actually a manipulative obsessed character to the point it can be considered as yandere. Some might find this kind of ML swoon worthy, but as someone who had experienced the feeling being trapped in toxic and obsessed relationship this novel actually very horrible. Remember Chu Yu will have to spend a long lifetime with Xie Xi, a person who never think consent important- being emotionally manipulated. <<less

So okay, this book is mostly good. But, I have a few things I absolutely abhor.

Spoiler

"Your not allowed to look at anybody else but me." -ML

I hate this statement for how illogical it is. You look at people when talking, fighting, or maybe your just glancing over a few people.

And this is toxic af. MC not even allowed to look at his BROTHER. What the hell, mate?

[collapse]

Another thing I absolutely hate is that a rapist and victim became lovers. I f*ckING HATE THIS. Stockholm syndrome is a piece of sh*t that I hate reading about.

Was this in tags? Hell no.

It's goddamn disgusting that the author forced this pair to happen. There are already wayyy too many gay couples in this story to be natural. But, the author is even forcing a rapist and victim to come together?!

Luckily, this rapist and victim thing is only an extra. So, you can skip it without losing much to the story. DON'T READ THE EXTRAS. <<less

I always wondered why this novel was so popular even though it doesn’t really have anything thats unique. Unlike other cultivation novels, its not thrilling enough to keep you on edge and madly binge it. There’s not much face-slapping/revenge or angst. As a romance novel, its not really heart warming enought to make you cry or really fluffy that you can’t stop grinning.

Only Now when I have finished it that I get this novel is popular because its light hearted with a sprinkle of everything mentioned above. Its perfect for... more>> a casual read to lighten yourself up. It might not have some chilling or Earth shattering plot to make you dazed but its perfect in what it does. The author really just wrote a light hearted romance with no plot holes and everything more or less explained.

An MC who really cared for the protagonist to give him the love both of them never received.A ML who gave his all to the MC because it was his nature to stubbornly love when he fell for someone.I really liked this pair who had mutual respect for each other and always asked each other for opinions. Their relationship was really healthy I might say (which is a rare occurrence in BLs) MC pretty quickly accepted the ML after he realized his own feelings and ML respected the MC’s boundaries and didn’t force him. He was possessive but childish possessive? He was just like a child telling MC to please not pay attention to others. Unlike other MLs, even though he was cold to others, he wasn’t really vicious/all omni-potent. He still cared for others too.

One thing I really liked about MC was his own awareness and guilt throughout the novel because he wasn’t the real body owner. (Even tho I love transmigration into novel genre but still MCs enjoying in someone else body kinda make me uneasy). Plus I really am fan of MCs who really do help/love the ML. And I do admit MC was literally sent in the novel just for the ML!He literally changed his whole world/fate.

The plot was as mentioned above light hearted with a sprinkle of nearly everything. It didn’t drag on. Conflicts ended when they were supposed too. Perfect amounts of comedy, fluff, angst, face-slapping, romance. What more do we need?

Side characters were really well done in this one.I loved shizun and his intimate friend xD. Third shidi is the best boi (fite me). The side cps were truly cute and fluffy. They didn’t actually conflict/squeeze into the plot of the main cp. System was a cute female fujoshi (kinda liked her xD)

Ending more or less tied the loose ends and was cute. Extras were fluffy!

Do give this novel a try. You might just end up enjoying it! <<less

It’s a light enjoyable read that probably won’t keep you thinking much after you’ve finished it. These are all my opinions but here are some of the Pros and Cons for me. And even though the Cons section seems to be longer I do genuinely like this novel.

Pros:

The plot itself is super engaging. A lot of these characters seem to genuinely suffer and grow from their mistakes and journeys. The translation also does an amazing job so everything is really clear and easy to understand, honestly this would probably be... more>> a good novel if your just starting out. Most of the characters are also super likable and fun, I have some that I have issue with but none that I specifically hate. I find most of the side characters to be the most interesting and funny, but the MC is still good enough to carry the story along.

Cons:

The romance is probably the stories biggest roadblock. It just felt weirdly out of place as this was very obviously not the ML’s story anymore. The ML also ended up falling into some of my least favorite cliches including being borderline obsessive, having his most definable character trait be the fact that he loves the MC, and lacking almost any character growth. The worst part is that he doesn’t really serve a purpose in the story other than to be the MC’s boyfriend. There are moments when I literally forget he’s there because he’s so incredibly inconsequential. <<less

It was very amusing and interesting at first. But it got pretty boring in the middle? The ML already so devoted to MC and they are already a couple pretty early. So after that the conflict just focused on something not related to the ML anymore. Just fighting off bad guys. And I can't handle the brocon either. Although I like the dynamic of the MC brother with his pair.

But really, in the middle of the story there's really nothing for the dynamic of the couple. They just being lovey... more>> dovey. Sometimes get separated because of some tragic event, but basically they're just fine. It gets pretty boring because MC rarely interact with ML. And after some chapter they do get more couple moment and adventure.

Although because this novel is not really that long, this can be used to killing time. <<less

Lost all interest after MC & ML got together.

It feels like almost every chapter has ML just thirsting & scheming how he could trick MC into having s*x with him.

It gets very tiring for me to read these kind of scenarios again and again and again and again.

I get that he loves MC, he's obsessed with him. But repeatedly reading the same thoughts just makes me lose all interest.

Could have been done better tbh

To be honest, the ML kind of annoys me. He’s not particularly well-written. He’s SUPER clingy/possessive to the point where it’s rather insufferable. So far, his only defining characteristic is being thirsty for MC.

There’s a point in the story where the MC and ML ended up in an unknown, (possibly) dangerous place, and all the ML is concerned with is hooking up with MC. There’s a time and place for everything and this ain’t it, my dude.

... As for the story itself, it’s okay I suppose.

This is one of the better transmigration/erase-my-death-flags out there.

The MC is hilarious with his interactions with the system, protagonist, bro-con (yes!) of a brother, sect members, etc. The ML is not super OP or super special who's destined to conquer the world and 1-hit KOs anyone unfortunate to cross his path (which is a breath of fresh air), plus he's such a softie when faced with our MC. You can actually feel the depth of his feelings and the slow burn of seeing but not touching our MC. The MC... more>> is not some helpless damsel and can stand on his own even if the ML eventually gets more powerful than him. He can be dense towards the ML's regard (which is understandable since he was a straight guy to begin with) but he's actually pretty sharp and sensible. When he realized his feelings there was no violent denial and just wholeheartedly accepted it.

The side characters each have their own unique personality and the author goes through lengths of explaining why they act that way. I especially like how there's real threat and suspense in the story (not just face slapping and steamy scenes) and you'll never know what's coming. The action is lacking as a xianxia but the story is plot-driven and makes sense so it's enough for me. There's balance between progressing the general storyline and romantic development between our MC and ML each chapter -- not too slow or fast.

Overall, great main/side characters, plot, world-building, and translation quality. <<less

the story is mainly about chu yu and xie xi.

No matter how he claims to be a cannon fodder. Its a failure because the ML gong fell in love with him.

Now it all took is convince the MC shou to accept his feelings. Yet this brother disciple problem is quite the barrier

I also like the overprotective elder brother Chu and his love life too.

It seems the Chu men is destined to be Shou.

The plot is quite similar to the scum villain's self saving system, but the story development is more slow pacing. Less angst, More cuteness. I like the cute MC but ML is so flat, may be writer should describe ML's thought more.

Honestly, this novel isn't my cup of tea. But I read it out of boredom and this did surprise me a bit.

  • Good narration
  • Good mc
  • Not your typical yet typical ML (I don't understand why people hate ML being jealous of mc's brother?)
  • Happy ending for main couple but the author showed in extras although the love story ends here there will be many things going on in their life.
I deducted one star because there was something missing for me. Overall it's a good time pass.

One of my favourite novels.
So what is MC and ML resemble those from "Scum villain". They are still alive, funny and different. The plot sometimes goes in a vague direction but all in all it is a good story full of romance and sweet sorrows. Yeah, it's not perfect but I think it makes the novel more adorable. Still, there are many adventurous details which come together quite neatly.

The relationship between MC and ML is believable and logical/

I would recommend this story for the readers who seek optimistic emotions.

I just hope people would stop comparing this with The Scum Villain Self-Saving System. :-/ Sure it gives of SVSSS vibes but the overall story is different and definitely interesting. I guess I love the side couples interactions more. For those who love transmigration novels this is certainly worthy of trying.

This is just a light hearted read. A pro of this novel was the early blooming of romance between the ML and MC which is rare in the past novels I have read. The ML is obsessed with the MC and his whole world practically revolves around him. I felt that the ML didn't really have much character development. In the beginning he hated the MCs character but after the MC transmigrated and treated him a bit nicely, the ML fell in love and the whole novel is just him... more>> being obsessed with the MC while the MC keeps feeling a bit hesitant to get sexual.

But this has a lot of kissing and s*xual stuff as far as chinese novels go considering the censoring that is required. To be honest though, I lost interest after the ML and MC did it for the first time... Nothing interesting really happened except for the ML going crazy everytime the MC separated from him or when the MC tried to socialize with others even if it was his brother.

This is good for a one time read but not really something I would consider rereading. <<less

2/5 even though I read the entire thing. I wanted to like this story but I just couldn't in the end. I love this type of premise (transmigration into xianxia as villain). Like many others, I picked up this novel because it reminded me of SVSS.

However, this story has several problems:

  1. The ML - his feelings seem to develop out of nowhere and he becomes the creepy possessive yandere type.
  2. The plot - I think the author lost track of the story and it just meandered all over. The ending wasn't even a real ending. Was anything actually resolved???
  3. The original novel's plot - considering that the MC transmigrated into a novel, the original plot is nowhere to be found.
  4. The MC's family - I don't get why there was so much focus on his family. It was really boring and I started skimming every time they showed up. I was way more invested in the MC's master and his friend than the entire Chu family. I wish there could have been more attention on them.
TLDR would not recommend. Story starts out strong but quickly derails.
