Zhang Ruo Chen was the sole male heir of one of the nine emperors of the Kunlun Field. Ruo Chen’s father was known to all as the “Enlightened Emperor”, however Ruo Chen didn’t just leech off his status as emperor’s son. He proved himself to be a dragon amongst men, possessing a heaven defying body, and managing to cultivate to Greater Perfection within the Yellow Horizon Realm, at just the young age of 16.

But even though he stood at the summit of the younger generation and had a boundless future, he sadly died at the treacherous hands of his own fiancee at a young age.

Reincarnated 800 years later in the body of a young boy who shares his name, he found out his former fiancee already unified Kunlun’s Field and built the First Central Empire, and was now known as Empress Chi Yao… Empress Chi Yao—Her Majesty governed the mortal world and enjoyed prestige in all directions as well as an eternal life.

Zhang Ruochen stood outside of the Imperial Ancestral Temple, looking at the statue of Empress Chi Yao, and the flames of hatred burned in his heart. “After I practice for 13 years, I shall send the empress to her doom!”

This couldn't get more cliche. Also about half of every chapter is repetition (on average, some are even more, some are less).

MC is tr*sh that can't cultivate, everyone hates him for no reason, transmigrate, cheats (followed him in reincarnation and only started working now. The cheat is a common looking energy gem that is actually a pocket dimension that can store stuff, has time dilation that increases with his cultivation, and contains an inheritance), cultivate at an utterly ridiculous speed (ridiculous even for one of those cliche stories).

What really gets me is how s*upid MC is. He sees his body's mother (which he cares about for some reason) going around suffering to try to finance his cultivation. Pawning her jewelry, begging, etc. He decides to keep his wealth and abilities a secret from her "so it will be a surprise".

At the same time he explicitly confides almost all his secrets with the maid (it literally explicitly states he told her all his secrets except his reincarnation and the time-space spindle). This is after he was killed via a betrayal of a woman he loved in the past life. Moreover, the new body he snatched on reincarnation was also betrayed by the woman it loved (before being taken over by the MC who doesn't care about her anymore). So having known repeated betrayel from waifus, he continues to tell them all his secrets. At least tell the mother instead of telling the waifu.

I get the feeling that the author made this novel because of some love disappointment to take revenge on that woman because she had sincerely never seen a novel that emphasized so much the wickedness of the woman.

Currently it's being translated a new but hardly essence of the story changes.

MC is good in the beginning only flaw was that he hardly uses his brain and knowledge of 800 years ago. Rather than being ruthless to his enemies he is always most forgiving one you will find in the whole story. Certain type of BS happens in any novel of this kind will keep on happening here (like getting attacked by enemies all time, assassination attempt on his life every time for some kind of BS situation) ,... more>> this tings can't be changed I got it but Author seems kind of sad*st here with the females I guess. Female Leads are all kind of bully, nasty and MC is the golden boy.

What I am going to write here is spoilers after 500 + chapter up to 1000 ch or more

Spoiler

I had enough with the tsundere bullsh*t (Huang Yan chen- really the bully in the MC's life and then marries him but betrays him too, she shares his secrete with the b*tchy bit*h Empress Chi yao even after knowing the enmity between MC and her bcoz she is her student and of some BS reasoning of her)

Chi Yao - Used MC as a s*x toy (to achieve god body and make her heart demon go away) and threw him but she still shows affection and again hates him more than that for god knows why. She became pregnant with MC's children (twin a boy and a girl) but still she told the two kids that they were orphans and their parents were killed by MC and takes the two kids as her disciples. (This BS happened in his 2nd life itself not in his 1st life)

many other things happened though these are the most thing I did not like at all. MC now truly hates Huang Yan Chen promised never to take her as his wife again and humiliated her. Chi yao kind of funny not to know the proper status yet as the kids are there.

There are other girls either one sided love or some kind of one night stands or friends with benefits kind of stuffs not much, MC hardly shows any emotion for them as if he sees Chi yao and Huang Yan chen in them

Only one Girl I like most till now i.e. The demonic moon sect saintress (kind of HOLY MAIDEN) -Duanmu Xiling (False name) or something her name (actual name for gotten sorry for that)

Average story. I skim most of it but it's still enjoyable. 3 stars

The only good thing seems to be that women actually attack the MC and can be dicks. For some reason, every other novel makes women into delicate little flowers that aren't as shrewd as men and have "womanly compassion". There are good women and bad women in this just like the men. I'm going to give it an extra star just because I haven't seen the so called "womanly compassion" trope in this like every single other chinese... more>> novel. +1 star <<less

THis is a very poor novel because the autor makes every female in this novel look horrible just from the desptition you already have a nut case that mu*der the MC and even her own father to get all the power and even after 800 years she still alive, then we have the MC fiance after he reborns and she also trys to kill him and despise him even when the previous guy on the MC body was super devoted to her, finally we also got a lady from a... more>> action house that loves to mu*der man after she c*cktease them to death and so on the Queen also wanted to mu*der him.

The novel is pretty terrible we don't even have the classic bully/mob characters just a bunch of horrible woman that hates man for no reason, reading this novel made feel ashamed of being a man like just the fact that I like woman is already a crime XD

It suppose to be just a simple Xianxia where the MC gets bully by man and filert with beauties but here we have no bad guys to fight and beauties find you digusting for being a male. <<less

This novel could NOT be more underrated in a website infested with absolute garbage webnovels. The introduction is, yes, very cliche in that it contains the typical tropes of a reincarnation story. However, what the reader does not see when they don't read beyond a few chapters is the mysteries and secrets behind even small details that are glossed over in the beginning of the story. If you don't want to read the rest of the review, just know that this is, by far, the most intriguing, entertaining, emotionally charged,... more>> and wholly planned cultivation novel I have ever read.

Characters-

This is a chinese novel where other male character opponents can be geniuses on par with the main character, developing moments between the two as they attempt to overcome both each other on their own merit and the powers supporting the other in an attempt to secure their footing in a world out to kill them at every turn. Most characters introduced in this book have an involved background and complex relationships with all the other characters. They have feelings, they grow, no important character has ever ended up being a one trick pony arrogant bastard. Even the most hated antagonist so far has had moments where I respected him, which made me hate him more. The female characters (besides one, so far ~ch2600) are NOT the typical chinese male fantasy of obedient, quiet women that need to be protected and are in danger all the damn time. Perhaps one of my favorite aspects of this book is that his friends and allies are actually f*cking useful. Zhang Ruochen is not an unparalleled genius (he kind of is, in certain aspects) that cannot lose even when surrounded by near cultivation level enemies. He needs his friends and partners in moments where it actually matters. The talents and genius of other characters are never useless, they don't need to be carried by Ruochen at all times. He does his fair share of saving in climactic moments of long-built tension, but this is not a novel where the MC will suddenly get news that his friend is in danger, they almost die, and he swoops in just in time.

Setting-

The world building is fantastic. Every detail about cultivation is explained so that the reader can have a reliable understanding of the capabilities of super powerful characters and that "meta-level" genius and talents really induce some level of awe when reading about them. Like I said before, the interactions between powers are deep and full of intrigue and relations that actually make sense. Ruochen being such a huge genius is actually sought after by various powers rather than just automatically being marked for slaughter, as a small example. Beyond this, just the unique settings and monuments within the world really help to solidify the vastness and mystery of a "cultivation world". This idea is sorely missed by so many novels.

Plot-

Even closing in on chapter 2800, the plot is still being explained and unearthed in a heart-tugging manner. This book was truly planned out from chapter one. Even the cliche start has its purpose in developing the characters and events later in the story. In chapters ~500, you think you know the plot and reasoning behind the big betrayal. You're wrong. In the ~1500s, you learn more and more and start to change your opinions about many characters and their decisions previously mentioned but unexplained. Your new opinions are wrong. In the 2000s, you think you can see where the plot is going to end up. Still probably wrong. In the late 2000s, I have an idea on what is happening behind the scenes and how it may turn out. I am really looking forward to seeing how it eventually will.

All in all, this book is a 9/10. If you have the time and desire, give it a shot. It really gets better the longer you read, and honestly the perceived notion you get at the start of being cliche and junk food reading is still probably on par with the rest of the cultivation novels you've read lmao. <<less

The author likes his female characters to have plump breasts. And so do I. This autobiography of Kekkistani Eternal God Emperor Donald Trump Zhang Ruochen runs just like your typical xuanhuan novel. No arrogant young masters and mistresses are spared, not even the weakest ones (ones that are like, 6 years old?). No signs of the misogynist tendencies by the MC yet, but I can wait. A certain plot device made famous in Martial God Space and Xian Ni is also here and MC is quite smart when it comes... more>> to obtaining serious amount of money by using his past life knowledge.

Edit: After reading a couple hundred of chapters more, I can safely said that this novel is what will happen if a JP isekai novel author tried writing a long-run xianxia/xuanhuan novel. The author nailed the xianxia/xuanhuan tropes relatively well, but not the characterization of the MC. If you want to find out how an isekai JP MC (reincarnated/transmigrated or not) acts in a xianxia world, this novel will get you started. <<less

Have you people read MGA, ATG, and those sorts of novel with arrogant MC with jade skinned women flocking around him and liked em? Well then this is a novel for you. From the OP cheat to righteous ideology. Also I can say that MC won't be killing any females, only males.

Spoiler

Also it is mentioned he got betrayed by a women in his past life but he seems to be too trusty with another women in current life. Not saying he shouldn't be but he just outright shared every secret of his except cheat and reincarnation and he didn't even know her that long (Also he kept the secret from his mother even though it could have saved her from a lot of stress and sleepless night. She was selling her stuff for her son even though he already had huge sum of money).

[collapse]

Also, shouldn't he be a little distrustful after what he went through? Well it doesn't really show on his personality that he learned anything. I am deducting 2 star for cliche plot but giving 3 star because it might be a story targeted for people who just started Xianxia. <<less

This novel has successfully delivered it's main purpose. To agitate audience out of sheer s*upidity. Almost all women introduced so far were either evil, or borderline evil. This is the problem I've experienced with these types of novels so far. Most of these authors seem to always wanna tackle with romance and even harem when they clearly have little to no experience in that area. Why bother at all? Just stick to cultivation!

The interactions between the MC and the opposite s*x supposedly meant to create some romantic influence were so... more>> abysmal, I cringe every single time. And there's the usual MC suddenly becomes s*upid or acts s*upid in front of these women. It's like he suddenly becomes an idiot. It's ridiculously annoying.

Be it plot, or world building, absolutely bland. Everything is lackluster.

TLDR: Avoid. <<less

The first couple of hundreds (chapters) are good, but I have to stop once the MC enters the Saint Academy. And here's why.

Spoiler

So the empire/empress is very ambitious and demands constant expansion of the empire, so they constantly invade other realms. But instead of their army, they offered the cultivators points that can be traded with resources. So most of the cultivators (and students) in this world constantly went into another territories, plunder their resources, and basically commit genocide by slaughtering everyone and anything in the said areas. The justification? It's a dog eat dog world out there and they're lesser forms anyway. Beasts are obviously fair game, since they're beasts after all, while the indigenous people/humans? Well it's their fault for being weak/backward.

Most CN novel readers might not see this as a problem, but I do. Here we have an MC who has no problem committing genocide for resources. Keep in mind that these realms aren't a threat, they were just doing their thing when the MC's world invades them and start killing everyone. One time the MC casually took away a wood spirit of a world, which, according to the MC, would result in the death of every vegetation in that world, and since the death of plants also means death of every living creature in that world, MC basically just killed one whole world by himself. He knew but did it anyway since he thought that someone would PROBABLY fix this anyway. This whole casual genocide thing really rubs me the wrong way.

You know the trope in xuanhuan/xianxia novels where the MC's world is under invasion of some race/aliens/evil forces from another world? Well in this novel the MC IS the evil invader. In fact the indigenous people nicknamed them (and the MC) the Extraterrestrial Devils / Death. I don't know, after reading so many novels about how bad invaders are, reading about a novel that's clearly pro imperialist/ pro genocide / ultra nationalist such as this makes me feel all horrible inside.

I just can’t read it anymore.

Everything else is okay but I just hate it how he deals with girls.

like a girl risks her life for him and he tells her he already has a fiancé and so f*ck off.

... more>> And he r*pes his so called fiancé on his wedding night as he loses control over his emotions and thinks she is another girl (chi yao), who he loved in previous life and was killed by.

Like either don’t give them hope.

first going around kissing girls and then abandoning them like anything.

this is the wedding night. Man he just r*pes her and next day doesn’t even speak anything with her and goes off somewhere for 6 months.

Spoiler

A red bridal veil covered her face, hiding her beauty.

The flame of two red candles placed on each side of the bed kept flickering, making the scene in front of him even more spectacular.

Huang Yanchen said with a tremble in her voice, “I want to be your bride tonight. What about you?”

Faced with this, Zhang Ruochen held his breath and he felt his heart beat faster. He walked over, picked up the golden wedding steelyard on the bed and prepared to remove the red bridal veil.

However, he suddenly stopped and asked, “Have you made your decision? I can’t promise you a future, and I can’t even give you a proper wedding.”

Huang Yanchen said, “I know.”

Zhang Ruochen nodded. Without further hesitation, he removed the red bridal veil and a heavenly, delicate face appeared in front of him.

Huang Yanchen had meticulously done her makeup in advance—perfectly defined eyebrows, cherry red lips and faint flushes on her cheeks.

Zhang Ruochen sat down, held her hand and stared at her face. “You’re so beautiful tonight.”

They lay down on the bed—one slept on the right side, and the other slept on the left side. They stared idly at the ceiling.

Huang Yanchen s**ked on her lips before asking, “Zhang Ruochen, is this the correct thing to do at the wedding night?”

“Sort of.” Zhang Ruochen replied.

“Oh!”

Huang Yanchen didn’t ask further, but the light in her eyes suddenly dimmed. She felt a little disappointed and sad.

Even though Huang Yanchen had never experienced a wedding night before, she knew that it was not supposed to be like this. She thought Zhang Ruochen treated her more like a sister apprentice rather than a lover.

The light of the red candle kept dancing, making everything in the room look like they were hidden in shadows.

At this moment, images of Chi Yao flashed through Zhang Ruochen’s mind. He kept thinking about her smile and her face when she killed him.

Zhang Ruochen’s facial expression kept changing, varying from happy to distressed and then to struggling.

Chi Yao, like a nightmare, was something he couldn’t get rid of.

Especially during this wedding night, his feelings about her grew stronger. The blue veins all over his body became more visible and sweat formed beads on his forehead. He gripped Huang Yanchen’s hand tighter.

“Zhang Ruochen, what’s wrong?”

After Huang Yanchen saw Zhang Ruochen’s face, she sat up immediately and leaned over to see him. She felt his body burning, and inside his body, a stream of hot flash kept running toward his head.

Obviously, Zhang Ruochen was in a dangerous state now. He might lose control of the Qi inside his body, and, if it was treated carelessly, he would lose his cultivation forever.

Huang Yanchen didn’t know what was happening. She immediately got up to find the Master.

Maybe the Master knew how to save him.

However, a big and strong hand grabbed her left shoulder the minute she got out of bed.

“Chi Yao... why do you want to kill me?”

Zhang Ruochen’s eyes were bloodshot and his pupils turned red. With a sudden strong pull, he dragged Huang Yanchen back and pressed his body onto hers.

“Zhang Ruochen... you’re scaring me... let me go... I need to find the Master to help you.”

Huang Yanchen thought Zhang Ruochen must have an inner devil in his heart, but he had suppressed it at the bottom of his heart. However, for some reason, it was released tonight.

Chi Yao?

How could it be Chi Yao?

If his inner devil was indeed Empress Chi Yao, he must have been under enormous pressure that was far beyond normal people’s imagination.

After mastering the seventh palm of the Dragon and Elephant Prajna Palm, the masculine Qi within Zhang Ruochen’s body was now ten times stronger than any ordinary man’s.

He was able to control this masculine Qi with his powerful cultivation and stay sane at the same time.

However, tonight was different. As Huang Yanchen guessed, Chi Yao, like an inner devil, haunted Zhang Ruochen. Whether his feeling toward her was love or hatred, it was fierce.

With the release of the inner devil, Zhang Ruochen completely lost his mind.

As a result, the masculine Qi, which was ten times stronger, was out of control as well. It gathered at his head and lower abdomen.

“Hiss!”

Zhang Ruochen tore Huang Yanchen’s red gown apart, uncovering a tender, silky white body.

Her red wedding dress was in stark contrast with her silky, white skin.

“Zhang Ruochen, you... what are you doing... stop it... ”

Huang Yanchen panicked. She punched him but was afraid of hurting him, so she withdrew her palm power. As a result, her fists softly landed on Zhang Ruochen’s chest and couldn’t stop his violation.

Zhang Ruochen couldn’t think properly and was not able to tell whether the woman under him was Chi Yao or Huang Yanchen. He was driven by a primitive human desire.

At first, Huang Yanchen struggled to push him away, but after a short while, she gave up. She bit her lips and wrapped her arms around his neck. Tears kept running down her cheeks.

Because Huang Yanchen knew the bride in Zhang Ruochen’s heart was probably not her.

It was probably going to be a long and sleepless night for her.

No one knew what was happening inside the room because of the arrays they had arranged.

The next morning, Zhang Ruochen woke up, feeling exhausted. There was a warmth on his chest. He lowered his head to find that it was Huang Yanchen.

Huang Yanchen quietly slept in his arms without any clothes on. Her arched eyebrows were slightly raised, making her look quite sexually attractive.

“What happened?”

Zhang Ruochen rubbed his temples, trying very hard to recall the previous night’s events, however, he couldn’t remember a thing and instead had a severe headache.

When he saw the blood on Huang Yanchen’s long slim legs, he suddenly realized what had happened.

Zhang Ruochen closed his eyes and let out a long sigh.

“Master, someone wants to see you now. He introduced himself as Half-saint Zixia.”

Han Xue’s voice came from outside.

In the beginning, this novel was your typical MC is betrayed by lover and gets reincarnated and vows revenge, but I quite enjoyed the story until it reached a certain point, and from then on, it goes on a downward spiral. The cultivation stages in the story wasn't complicated and plus I really liked the Ultimate Realm idea for each stage. The action scenes are great, and sometimes the translation isn't too shabby. The world building is excellent as well. You can tell the author put considerable thinking into the... more>> construction of the world.

Huang Yanchen became the disciple of Chi Yao (in which he helped her by the way because her talent wasn't that good) is the heart knot of the MC, she later told Chi Yao everything about Zhang Ruochen, essentially betraying him after all he done for her. Unsuspecting to Zhang Ruochen, Chi Yao disguised herself as Huang Yanchen and travelled around with him. Bang, bang, cherpow! One thing leads to another, and they sleep together. Chi Yao gets pregnated, gains a godly body, and unraveled her heart knot as well. Zhang Ruochen became extremely angry, and breaks all ties to Huang Yanchen, and denies her in public. I became mad because this came completely out of the left field and out of character for Huang Yanchen. Chi Yao even trains her and his kids as disciples and makes them believe he's the mu*derer of their families.

I tried to like it (and I did in the beginning) but Zhang Ruochen was not developing at all and the romance left something to be desired. The initial 200-300 chapters were 5/5 for me, but the remainder of the chapters dropped down to 2/5, degreasing into cliche and your typical xianxian. <<less

The premise behind the story had me hooked for the first 100 chapters, but that quickly dies down as you realise:

"Gosh, I am stuck with an MC that goes from one academy into another. What's worse is that he's f*cking mentally disabled. Women literally beg him to f*ck them, but no, of course, he'd do no such thing."

Another shortcoming of this novel is how the cultivation system works. For instance, the MC initially struggled to beat down a Black level cultivator when he was yellow levelled. But later on in... more>> cultivation, the MC can f*cking obliterate Heaven levelled cultivators with EASE when the MC is black levelled.

I can go on, but the novel contains a lot of fluff, where the reader is forced to jump from one one contest hoop to another. I really had to struggle to continue after chapter 300. Keep in mind that this is my second time reading this novel; last year, I stopped reading in Chapter 220 and decided to give this novel one more chance.

I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on this. <<less

Basic plot points: 2 talented kids, male (MC) and female (Main Antagonist) were childhood friends and sweethearts. He gets stabbed in the back by her and dies. He revives 800 years later in another body with the same same except now his back-stabbing fiancee is the empress of the world and on the verge of cultivating to godhood. Time for revenge and some power-leveling with his new space-time powers.

The driving force of the plot is why the empress stabs him in the back and the story feeds a little bit... more>> to you at a time. It could be an foreign world invasion and the only a united empire can deal with it instead of the fragmented kingdoms. Or maybe his fiancee is just a b*tch.

This is one of the most underrated top-tier books ever written. The amount of garbage many people on this app read every day clouds their judgment on how an ultimate tier book is written.

the storyline is one of the most realistic and mature I've ever read, the MC literally has to fight for his life every arc. He is not like all other MCs armed to the teeth with plot armor. he struggles with trusting people, opening up and living in a world he wants to live in. he lives... more>> with his regrets and his pain everyday and still manages to be the damn hero.

I am not gonna say much, I am just going to say this, until you read past 1500 chapters, you have no right to comment or review this book.

IT IS A FANTASTIC READ AND ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED BOOKS I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS IN MY TEN YEARS OF READING WUXIA AND LIGHT NOVELS.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

At that time, the head of the Murong Family, Murong Chengde, was one of the three chancellors. He was an official of the Grand Tutor, and he led a group of councilors to cursed Kong Shangling for his rebellious actions and usurping the throne. He argued that a member of the Zhang family should be the new Emperor Ming. Unfortunately, he was suppressed and persecuted by Kong Shangling. No one knows how many people died.

“Later, when the great army of the Central Chiqing Empire invaded the Shengming Imperial City, the Murong Family and councilors fought until the last moment. Unfortunately, there was no turning back. In the end, they had no choice but to retreat. Some hid in the demonic plains of the Eastern Region, while others fled into the Hidden Barrens or went far away to the primitive world in the outer realms.

“Maybe Chi Yao and Emperor Qing just wanted to exterminate the Immortal Vampires and the people controlled by the Blood Empress. However, war has always been uncontrollable. Once it breaks out, it will inevitably hurt the innocent and create infinite hatred. With hatred, more evil, darkness, and slaughter will spread. No one can stop it.”

“The Emperor can’t stop that, and neither can gods!”

“The emperor is just like the trunk of a tree. No matter how the trunk shakes, it can’t shake off the dust on every leaf.”

“In war, more innocent people die than those who deserve to die.”

“You tell me, who is right and wrong?”

“I still don’t understand this question even till now. Maybe the root of the problem is the incident 300, 000 years ago. It’s the fault of the era, the fault of the entire world.”

Zhang Ruochen’s eyes were neither sad nor happy. He said, “Where are the Zhang family’s disciples? Since Granny is the guardian of the Zhang family, you can’t just watch them be killed indifferently, right?”

“Do you know why I silently went back to the Sword Pavilion at the end?” asked Granny Begonia.

Zhang Ruochen said, “Could it be the Zhang family’s disciples... ”

Granny Begonia nodded and said, “Most of the Zhang family’s disciples have already left Kunlun. They went to the Zhuque Ruins Realm under the lead of the eldest princess, your aunt.”

“I see.”

Zhang Ruochen closed his eyes. His heart was full of mixed feelings. He felt empty, confused, and troubled.

Whose fault was it?

The fault of the Blood Empress?

Emperor Ming’s fault?

The fault of those that had awakened in Kunlun?

The fault of Chi Yao and Emperor Qing?

...

However, in the context of that era, everyone had no choice but to do what they should do the most. Looking from their respective standpoints, they are both right and wrong.

These emotions only lasted for a moment before he drove them away.

When he opened his eyes again, Zhang Ruochen’s expression had sharpened, and he said, “Everyone knows the major principles. But who can feel at ease when certain things occur to them? I can’t be like that for sure.”

Granny Begonia didn’t say much because she understood that what happened back then was unfair to Zhang Ruochen. He had suffered far too much.

His father was indecisive and incompetent, while his mother was a disaster for Shengming. Both of them had been heavily criticized by the public, where he learned of the truth.

His heart must be in more pain than before.

Somebody having half of the bloodline from Kunlun with the other half from the Infernal Court were sins in themselves. They were neither accepted by Kunlun nor the Infernal Court.

It wasn’t easy for him to change his fate and live his second life as an actual human. He was about to become the supporting force of Kunlun and the hero that saved the world; at that time where most cultivators would accept him.

However, he was forced to merge with his body from his previous life and become half-human and half-Immortal Vampire again.

It was as if he was being played with by fate while tortured and could never escape from the palm of fate.

He was like a chess piece on a chessboard. Some wanted him to go east, while others wanted him to go west. Even if he changed his fate, he still had to return to the trajectory of fate in the end.

Zhang Ruochen pointed to the sky, “Even if the destruction of the Central Shengming Empire was inevitable, and even if Saint Monk Xumi changed my fate and turned me into a real human, why was it Chi Yao who killed me in the past?”

“I don’t know.”

Granny Begonia shook her head and said, “You can only ask her about this question.”

Zhang Ruochen had already asked Chi Yao this question, but there was no answer.

Compared to Chi Yao, his cultivation was too low!

Unless his cultivation surpassed hers, then he might be able to force out a result if it was like that.

...

On the cosmic rock, Zhang Ruochen sat quietly all by himself. He did not move as if he had become one with the stone.

Three days later.

Blackie flew onto the rock with a mournful expression and sat next to Zhang Ruochen. He said, “There are some truths that I would rather not know. After knowing, it makes people so miserable.”

Zhang Ruochen felt he had found someone in the same boat. He asked with concern, “What truth have you known?”

“My past history.” Blackie’s tone was sorrowful.

Indeed, they were in the same boat together.

Zhang Ruochen patted its wings and said, “Don’t be sad. No matter how painful it is, we can overcome anything. These sufferings only temper our hearts to be stronger. Now you might as well tell me what is troubling you. It may be better if you speak it out loud.”

Well this novel is bad. It doesn't understand what it wants to be. So it starts as a revenge story. But even after 2000 chapters there is still no revenge. He even got betrayed by the same person again. We all saw it coming, only the MC did not. From like chapter 800 or so, it's pretty obvious that his fiancé is empress Chi Yao. I also don't understand why he likes her. She was forced on him at the start and she just exists to be saved for the... more>> first 1000 chapters. And then she betrays him. He learned nothing from his previous life. Then he is so enraged he becomes a moron, charges the palace of Chi Yao. And for some reason she doesn't kill him this time. In my opinion he should have been killed by Chi Yao. She, who now knows all his secrets, should realize that leaving him alive would be a threat, but no...

The novel tries to be a revenge/power fantasy at the start. The MC is always overpowered and can fight across realms. And then it turns in to a weird ass drama where he makes the same mistakes from his previous life. And 1 point his meridians get crippled. No one can reconnect them, but because of plot-armor he can reconnect and become even more powerful. <<less

Just the fact that the author thinks that he can get away with leaving the piece of shit, garbage tier character, chi yao alive just because the MC ejaculated inside of her blows my mind!

Also congratulations for writing one of the most (if not the most) bland, pathetic, cucked MC ever.

I would even ask for a time refund if I could, AVOID THIS!

Extremely overhated. Like others have said, it's cliche at the start, but once things get moving it gets better.

Pros

    • Good MC
    • Worldbuilding is nice.
    • Despite what others say, the romance isn't that bad. Definitely frustrating at points though.
    • The fights are good.
Cons

    • A few boring arcs. They're not even filler but some just get boring. The hype arcs are amazing though.
      Spoiler

Like when he gathers members of his old empire back together and attacks the current empire.

    • The translation is weird. Cultivation realms are translated differently throughout the novel which makes things confusing.

Spoiler

I find it laughable that people think that the MC is dumb because he got betrayed by Yanchen. Using the excuse that he shouldn't have trusted any women due to what happened with Chi Yao shows that they haven't been reading the novel. He literally distrusted all the women around him for 1k+ chapters. He opened up to Yanchen after years of knowing her and it was a major character moment for him. The thing with the maid in the early chapters is irrelevant considering the two secrets he withheld were the only major ones he had. He just told her he was training.
