This story is centered around the man named Yi Ji-Hyuk, who has spent 1000 years in a Medieval Western fantasy-like world before returning back to the modern-day Earth. When he returns, he finds that his home is facing monster threats, and that humans with superpowers have appeared to protect the innocent people of Earth.

The thing is, Yi Ji-Hyuk himself lived like a true, bona-fide Demon King in that fantasy world, and the only reason(s) why he returned home is to find some peace and easy going life. So, what will a man like that do?

The author did a very good job at truly fleshing out the characters' personalities... but how should I say this... It's a bit too good to the point that I actually hate the MC. I'm only at chapter 62 but I'm already running out of patience. He's one annoying guy, quite inconsiderate of other people, very selfish, definitely not someone I can respect. Sure, he went through a lot during his isekai time but does it mean he can inconvenience people just because of that? I don't think so. The... more>> plot itself is interesting and I like how the author does some things differently compared to usual trope (e.g. when it comes to recruiting the MC as an ability-user, etc.) but my gosh... I don't know if I can continue reading a story with an MC like this. It was funny at first but it rapidly became quite annoying. I don't know if there's character development down the road and if there is, I don't know if I can stick around long enough to see that happen. <<less

This is one of the best novel for me with the story n humour,

I dont know why people hate this MC being selfish and do whatever he want. Look man, try imagine how MC feel when he get summoned to otherworld for more than 3000 years and not only that, u also becoming the villain in that world because of the misunderstanding. And when MC finally manage to return to Earth surely u want to experience more slow and lazy life because u have been fighting nonstop in otherworld... more>> and want to take a break and guess what even when MC want to stay low profile, but the higher ups keep disturbing his peace and didnt even respect him.

I suggest u guys read it first rather than give up when u see many people giving it low rating. <<less

If your reading this review the returner may have supper long dialogues but for me those dialogues shows more of what are the personality of our characters it. Personally it gives me insight on what exactly is happening only through dialogue also a little bit of spoiler the novel if you will described is like angel beats it started out as your typical comedy and near the end you started to see how really high are the stakes.

Honestly, this isn't that bad of a read. I see a lot of bad reviews but this can be a good read if you got nothing else to do. Don't expect it to be GOLD but just read it with a mindset of passing time and it can actually be better than you think it is.

A hilarious story similar in feel to One Punch Man. The protagonist, a returnee from a fantasy world where he went through unimaginable torment, tries his best to just live a life of NEEThood. Unfortunately monsters are in the world and seem hell bent on spoiling his life of leisure.

Like One Punch Man the story is less about the strength of the protagonist than it is about the interactions with those around him, all of whom struggle to deal with the mentally and ability broken man. Their frustration with his... more>> unwillingness to actually participate in monster hunting, despite his obvious power, is the driving force of the comedy here.

TL;DR: Read it for the comedy, it cracked me up a ton. If you get 3-4 chapters in and haven't laughed though this story is probably not for you. <<less

You will obviously like this if you watch/read a lot of isekai/return to earth from another world.

This is slice of life/comedy/OP MC so please don't expect adventure. This is Korean novel so the interaction is from korean perspective dont hate the personalities and here.

I gave this novel 5/5 to give this a chance.

An enjoyable read, to a certain extent. Author manages to turn a story with a plot into one without and then back again to one with a plot. Now that stuff is happening again I'm curious to see where the story goes, but I won't be holding my breath in anticipation for the next chapter.

Spoiler below isn't much of a spoiler, but it could create expectations in the reader; read at own risk.

Spoiler

Plot #1:

I thought there was more to the history and background of the first world, but we didn't get exposed enough to it. MC had a history with some of the most powerful and nearly immortal beings in the world, some might even have been considered friends but for some reason both sides take an absolutely stubborn side without any further communication.

No Plot:

Then he becomes a lazy, jobless, shut-in that doesn't want to work or do anything in life other than die after having lived a life of leisure. Yeah he's super powerful, but for some reason lost all ability to play games? And is he powerful or is he intentionally crippling himself to remain "normal" in his/the world's eyes?

Plot #2:

Monsters are attracted to MC and every time MC leaves the house new portals are born. Interesting idea that looks like it'll start to rope the MC back into the story. Will he go back to being a kick-ass bad-ass or will he train up the next group of "heroes"?

Rule of 30 - Is it fun to read or am I forcing myself? If I'm not really having fun reading it, then stop reading it.

I like how the MC react to the current world. He isn't like "wow lets save the world then" when he knew the world is in constant danger. I like how the author design the current MC as the MC right now doesn't have any magic power or something like that instead he become another Saitama.

But is it only me that feel the humors are a bit forced, like the part when he met with his family, all I felt was boring and just absurd.

For now all in all, this... more>> novel is quite nice for me.

Edit:

Well after reading the raw I decide to change my rating to 3.

The story indeed is progressing from ch. 60 onwards, but things just getting more and more boring, there's just way too many of useless and lame comedic (?) Dialogue. And at this point around 140+ chapter, idk why but I really hope MC parents got killed or something, they are just annoying.
Spoiler

MC finally joined KSF new squad, and we things just got boring at that point, monster and his 'friends' starting to appear from the gate. And how he fckd up by Alpha who works for a devil (Ageregas or something). And finally the author just making him work like a donkey most of the time.

Was waiting for it to be uploaded to NU. The prologue is a bit cliche and the dialogue of the MC expressing his suffering was one paragraph too long for my taste. But once he gets into the new... ehem, "territory" the next 3 chapters seem solid enough. All I wanna say is dont get turned away by first 3 chapters and read up a bit more, I give no guarantees as to what will come to pass after ch 6.

Estimated rating as of ch6 ~ 3.7

TL;DR First 3 chapters... more>> don't feel representative of the novel read more than them. <<less
