2.5/5

^ That's my rating for this novel but since I can't place it I decided with 2/5 because it doesn't deserve the 3 stars.

For the longest time, I was unsure about reading this book (I'm also 4 years late) and so I read the reviews and decided to give it a shot, and oh boy it was terrible.

I compared Reincarnated Paradise to this book a lot since they are similar in most aspects, I believe RP took inspiration from this novel but took out the bad and put in... more>> the good.

Enough about that what I have a problem with is the idea and/or setting of the story where it's basically about you meeting famous characters in famous movies. Sounds cool right? I thought so too until I read the arc about Terminator and guess what... WE DIDN"T EVEN SEE THE TERMINATOR!! Of course, we met its junior version of it but still... really? So I thought 'its fine I mean as long as we get some story from the original movie I think this can still be good...' nope. We don't meet ANY main character from the movie.

Now of course that doesn't mean the novel is bad itself you say? That is true, but not this one. There are so many info dumps I wanna cry, the pacing is unbearably slow in parts that don't need to take us so much time. Yes, you can still enjoy a book with slow pacing but this one is unnecessary to the extreme, translation quality is sub-par not something I want to read a lot.

Now onto the MC: The first chapter I was completely confused like is this the real world or some variation of it, then we get thrust into some conflict that I don't care about, I didn't feel the need to care about what was going on because we don't even know anything about our MC or the other characters there. Then all of the sudden we are at the terminator world where we are supposed to figure out how the system works as we read the story, sure it sounds cool like that but I mean we need the basic info to at least understand what is what and that MC has a clear objective instead of going with the flow.

all in all this book completely missed my standards of enjoying a book, but I will keep reading only because there is apparently harry potter (which I think will be complete tr*sh but oh well) so gl to me on this adventure of a train wreck. <<less

okay this novel is kinda bad dont waste your time. Author has balantly copied from movies and didnt even try to come up with his own worlds. And that is least of my concern my concern is this story is not entertaining at all. There is no purpose MC is 1d and he is just not likeable. His Power is not interesting. This novel is like cake without sugar tasteless and bland. And that is not all, Author keeps saying MC is so smart but no MC is not smart... more>> at all everyone else has -100 IQ. The plot and schemes are childish while author constantly tries to justifies their action with huge info dumps only to fail miserably. I cant remember how many times I rolled my eyes when author said MC is smart. <<less

This novel is very well worth your time. The story flows seamlessly. One of the two best novels with infinity genre even after 3 years. You may find certain parts boring though and experience weak growth of certain characters at times, but in no way does it prevent you from enjoying the work.

Well for people who hates massive info dumps and slow progressing kind of novels, then this series is certainly not for you guys.

For readers who liked reading infinity type of novels I could say that this is a more improved version for Terror Infinity. Add in the fact that Ultimate Evolution furthermore explore the movie world rather than going directly to plot of the movies that they're playing in.

What I liked on this novel was that although it's a slow paced one, the pro of it was that it would... more>> give you a more detailed world building increasing your immersion in reading. <<less

i don't get the whole movie thing why do it you don't really use the story line and just make stuff up to suit your narritive none of the "movie characters" feel like the people themselves and can be consididered different entirely so why do it any way

true review entertaining at times with filler that never seems to end item descriptions that take whole chapters and info dumps many chapter long info dumps in fact all told I bet well over half the story is an info dump of... more>> some kind and the reserch quality that was done to write this is a zero because the author makes up and distorted more facts then he screws up the movie portions <<less

So the character gets trapped in abworld where he’s constantly risking his life and he’s just going to go along with it. The real world has armed groups raiding skyscrapers in the middle of singapore without causing a massive news incident... Rather unrealistic behavior in the characters and premise.

Short review: A decent story with some points that just seem s*upid, but it does the whole infinite thing slightly better than TI. The MC is somewhat OP but not to much and the characters are kinda likeable. I recommend this but you just have to get past the long prologue.

Long review: The MC is portrayed as a smart individual with outstanding tactical decisions and amazing battle prowess. Unfortunately he suffers from the same situation that Xian from TI has, the author tries to make him smarter than he is.... more>> While some of his plans make sense most of them are just luck based or have no basis to work.

One good thing I really love about the MC is that he doesn't finish all ofnthe missions.
Spoiler

For example in the terminator world he has a mission to kill 3 terminators. When he's near the end of the mission and doing some bullsh*t that will give him a slightly stronger weapon (which he gambles away later for a better weapon (which I love that he was willing to do that)) he looks at how the terminators were spawning and made the estimate that he would not be able to defeat the next one and just gives up on it. It's the same in the Harry potter world where he only needed one part left in this long ass quest chain and he decided it wasn't worth it.

[collapse]

The world's are unique in that they follow the basis of the story with some "lifelike" qualities imbued (IE the Harry potter world has criminal group) or are combined with similar movies (IE starcraft and starship troopers)

The author doesn't understand anything about guns so the whole first story arc which is filled with guns is just so s*upid and frustrating if you understand a even little of the basics of a gun. But luckily the author stops most of the gun bullsh*t after the first arc.

All in all its a decent read and if you need something better than TI then this will be good for you. <<less

Underrated, the story is pretty interesting, with fast pacing, a long connected plot, and interesting characters. It starts out similar to Terror Infinity in the first volume but goes off in a completely different direction, the style of the novel is also extremely different, the plots are less complex, it is closer to an adventure/battlefield story rather than a horror/psychological survival battle.

Cringy use of adjectives and excessive exaggeration of events bring the novel down. The excessive use of excalmation marks and bad dialogue compound the bad experience of reading the novel. The dialogue is really basic, it just states facts or it's similar to the old comic book scripts where you get the villain talking to the superhero and its sorta childlike in its use of terms. The novel feels like it has to shout the whole story to you and glares at you while you are reading. There are no... more>> 'calm' or 'soft' or 'humble' words in the story. Everything has to be like the best action don, the highest of the highest. It's like the author is trying to destroy any other notion conceivable that would probably be better or your sense of imagination as it limits you to absorb the show not tell crap that pervades the novel. Okay, its improved in quality in the latest chapters so its a four stars from me! <<less

. The good thing about the novel is that MC is not OP and has to rely on his perseverance and cunningness to survive. Ironically, the fact that he is an MT-type of character is kinda off-putting as he is able to afford more risk compared to other characters. One another thing I like about the novel is that each arc takes place at the background of the movie instead of the main storyline of the movie (meaning the arcs do not the follow actual movie plot, if this makes sense) <<less

The MC is a tank with a brain. Imagine the guy you can't kill is taking every second you waste formulating or enacting a plan to kill you. That's the MC for this novel. Fun book to read and he has 2 buddies that come along for the ride. This was a novel I gave up sleep for.

One of the better stories of NU, and I'm one of the pickier readers as well.

The gem of the story is definitely the protagonist, Sheyan. He's a real genius mastermind, able to deduce logically and plan complicated schemes to win fight against near impossible forces. The author has done a great job at making him a genius without degrading the IQ of the other characters. Next is the plot, while some parts have a lot of luck and plot armours, the story is quite alright for the most part. Sheyan... more>> doesn't always ride the wave of success and sometimes get caught off-guard, which gives tension and makes the story more enjoyable, if you didn't self-insert, that is. The side characters are also good, though they often time got sidelined in favour for Sheyan and so don't have much development.

Now we get to the bad parts. The main reason for the 4-star rating is the last few arcs. Though still enjoyable, the quality drops, mainly getting rushed forwards (that's still 1460 chapters, but I think that the story would benefit more if it got extended and gradually solved the plot points). You will notice the rushness during the last few chapters, where pretty much all fight scenes are skipped, and most of the plots suddenly became nonsignificant. Not only that, but some chapters are just plain boring descriptions of items that are never used. The system also gets sidelined towards the end, not showing the concrete damage number or notification like before.

All in all, I still recommend it to others, if you want a great time. The story is interesting, the protagonist is (super!) smart, the fight scenes are fun, but the ending is rushed (can't seem to find high-quality ending nowadays). <<less

Bland and booring.

Hopping into fanfic world is not well done, in reincartion paradise MC interact and many times kill the plot characters but here the system is more like gaining favourable points with Hagrid by cleaning his lawn and then get into hogwarts.

MC is not worth less than side character in most of the stories and the book is honestly bland

Boring unoriginal story with an awful MC, I mean I don't think I've ever read about an MC quite as dumb as this guys, especially when they do nothing but talk about how shrewd and intelligent he is. Seriously literally everybody he meets is capable of easily tricking him and he always falls for it and never learns from it. Really disappointing.

*Edit: Read some more and somehow the MC manages to be even dumber than I previously thought possible, like Goku levels of dumb with none of the strength... more>> or talent to back it up. The only reason he survives is his infinite plot armor and the forced s*upidity of everybody around him and still it's more the former than the latter. <<less

i really liked this one.

this story has a premise that I find very unique in terms of the light novels i've read so far, and even english novels. I've seen a lot of complaints about the author basically just copying all of these movies and novels and doesn't even try to do anything creative. But I would disagree with those comments. Yes, the worlds are all taken from those classic movies, but the plot and environment that the author writes about is almost miles apart from the originals. Take the... more>> harry potter world. Everyone knows about harry potter, hogwarts, the sorcerer's stone. But who would have gone into the goblin's or gringotts' history? The author took us all the way down a major side path, and I'm not complaining about it.

the story is quite addictive once it gets rolling. I admit that when I first picked up this novel, I read the first couple chapters and immediately put it down. The beginning was very vague, and you couldn't even tell who the protagonist was until like three chapters in. But once the MC started getting into the groove, you could tell that he was very smart, strong, and almost OP for the rest of the book. I liked that he kept several important characters all the way through, which kept it consistent. I really liked how much the characters next to the MC were fleshed out, I really felt like I really enjoyed reading about reef, mogensha, and zi, and the others, as people and friends.

however, there are a lot of loose ends that the end of the story did not cover. I assume this story is part of a trilogy, because the ending was extremely unsatisfying. Also, there is no conclusion with the zi and melody drama. What happens there? Who or what is jinkuang? Who was prince pombaru? What happened to strive? I have a lot of questions. Overall, though, I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it strongly. <<less

For my VIEW,

It was a thrilling, exciting, brain wracking ride when I was reading. If you like a 'genius' MC I mean really, that isn't those typical cold-blooded/naive but a real life portrayed HUMAN MC. He ain't no god or some bullsh*t but a human with emotions, desire that keeps the story on the roll. So for those who rated low stars and says some crappy evaluation. I guess it's not their thing to read this type of genres. So if you want to know what kind of novel... more>> this is; READ IT YOURSELF <<less

Not a bad novel, in fact a good time waster novel. There's plenty to read and the plot continues to be interesting 800 chapters in. Unfortunately, the character development is exceptionally weak as in the characters each have blurry roles and definitions and they hardly change across the story. There are definitely plot holes and the MC has some sort of strange background armor where when the author wishes it the MC's background allows him to have skills he probably shouldn't have like being able to speak fluent pirate or... more>> be OP on ANY ship, even though there are clear differences between modern ships and olden age ships. Other times the author bemoans the background of the MC as being pitiful. Both of these things could be okay, if the background of the MC had actually been explained. But it seems the author changes the background of the MC at will to fit the author's desires for the MC's skillset throughout the course of the story. It just seems that the MC has an already mature character and it doesn't change much over the story so far. The other characters barely have characters, a one side or two side character at most and none of them can compare in personality or in any other factor with the MC. The MC just seems way smarter and calmer than everyone. He doesn't have any real weaknesses and so the MC just feels fake. The story is only made interesting by pitting the OP MC against what seem to be insurmountable odds and having the MC miraculously survive through. Which makes a great time waster, but in my opinion not the best novel. <<less

EDIT:
Changed to 2*
Main character basically is the smartest person ever and can see through everything from the beginning. There are no unsurmountable tasks, there are only degrees of complication but he can do any and every thing.
It becomes a powertrip through movies in which the movies start to make less sense (Zergs in starship trooper is bad, Zergs in avatar is way worse) and he has plans A through A because he always knows everything that's going to happen and is always prepared from before and when... more>> he is not "just" received the tool that will bring victory.
If you are free and want to read something go ahead, if you want something good keep searching that there are many things better.

This series is not great but is good, some action, several interesting things to see, interesting and different world and a strange but workable system.

Cons: large info dumps, tons of fillers (some chapters you can skip half and still know everything that happened), plot holes here and there (not many but present), extreme luck in some cases, MC can do no wrong and perfectly calculate everything (Sherlock Holmes much?) and I'm totally one world is just wrong, come on Zergs? Really? Starship Trooper but f*ck it, let's put Zergs on it.

Pros: action scenes where you can see (more or less) what's happening, interesting characters and powers, tries to explain the excess of luck as wits of the MC (and succeed in some cases), different and varied movies (although a movie with no guns would be cool just to see how will the adapt), good power ups and mostly balanced (is not just the author just straight doping xianxia style), no perfect luck (except for the caribbean/resident evil arc) and it keeps changing, the author keeps changing things to keep it interesting.

also kudos to the translator.

P.S: I hate Qi however they have a few good novels. <<less

It has a really great storyline, but I'm personally not a fan of all the pop culture references. Also, the starcraft world was poorly explained, so I wasn't able to visualize what was happening in some parts. This caused me to get kind of bored. Once I got to the LotR arc I was totally confused because I've not seen or read any of those. Which is weird because I've not seen Terminator either, but I had no problem following that arc. Perhaps I'll head back and finish up the... more>> novel at some point. <<less
