Weak plot and character development~~~ Annoying foreshadowing of future harem~~~ Also, MC actions and reasoning doesn't make sense~~~ Also, ridiculous uses of ~~ all the time in s*upid and unsuitable places~~ You don't ~~ after you curse at someone. E.g, I will kill you~~~~. That negates the effect of everything you just said. S*upid~~

I first started reading this novel years ago when it was only 100 chapters and later dropped it as it seemed to be getting monotonous, but after restarting it again recently I found myself hooked. It seemed the same as other usual cultivation stories where the MC seems to follow the routine of getting really strong and then after beating the strongest genius, moves to an even bigger stage with even more powerful opponents, but this novel was different as every new environment was unique ie from the azure 'continent'... more>> to the fight scenes in the ocean and island zones. It also didn't let the MC just stumble across new techniques and skills which allowed him to destroy all his opponents but described his step by step learning and comprehension to reaching new heights. They also created suspense by preventing the MC from just spamming his most powerful eye bloodline against everyone, making the fights more about intellect and wit and rather than who's gifts are stronger. Finally, the MC is also shown during combat his intelligence and wisdom, planning moves ten steps ahead of his enemies and being able to out-manoeuvre those who are impossible for him to beat with his current skills alone. <<less

It's pretty cool for a read. The starting is slow and the entire world is not revealed at the start. As the story progresses, more facts about the world are revealed and the story also gets better. I have read in lots of reviews that people don't appreciate the starting chapters. I would suggest to try till first 300 chapters at the latest. If you still don't like it by then, then probably this isn't for you.

Overrated, cliche, unoriginal.... something you'd expect from 2015 translation days, its simply way past the days where we found those tropes still interesting, we liked and enjoyed those days but its boring repetitive and even annoying right now, CN authors should start thinking outside the box instead or remixing 2008 Xianxia recipes, but that would require talent or imagination...

A good novel. Enough pacing to avoid getting boring and not nearly as repetitive as some other novels out there. There is an overarching plot with a clear direction. Similar in style to Martial World but a cut above.

one thing iv'e noticed is that all of the ones who gave this a bad review gave them prematurely. They failed to break even chapter 100 when the site listed here explicitly states that its generic until chapter 50 and gets even better after chapter 200. All I can say is that I wish these people would not be so impatient and learn to take their time before just writing this off, they don't even know what's happening! It bugs me when people argue what they don't even know about.

the... more>> story is an amazing read. Once he slows down and begins to meet people on his level he has to think, and he does. He is constantly scheming and planning just so he can survive because people around him are all able to kill him. He begins to grow as a person becoming an easily 3d character with goals, dreams, aspirations, and friendships. The story is very progressive and interesting because its not just "one person is dead next step, kill the next guy" he has a goal to search for and everything he does is to better himself and the people he cares for so that they can survive and thrive. He's not immediately hostile to people for no reason and he's not a womanizer who kills every guy who so much as looks at him or his girl wrong. His end goal at this point is entirely unselfish and he doesnt use everyone if he can help it. His eye is a strong advantage but is not the end all be all, mainly because it's met others of its strength and has had it's weakness/specialty stated. It has it's moment of deus ex machina but those are far and few between and mitigated by reason. <<less

It was very interesting at the start and I had a lot of expectations for this and was looking forward to it. Maybe because I put too much faith in it that it let me down more. Anyways the MC is strong and intelligent which makes me doubt things because he didn't transmigrated and somehow he gets a power and gets really arrogant and how is he intelligent compared to elders and other people who have more experience than him... could of explained that better. Anyways story was good and... more>> I'm still interested 4 stars <<less

I rate it 4 as this novel is much better than all the generic novel s out there. Most people seems to give it bad reviews or alright drop it before they even reach ch200 (the good parts begins here).

The early parts of the novels seemed too much cliche with over-used tropes and powers (Byakugan and Rinengan) that were not original, the story in which the MC's parents are forgotten after the initial chapters and he is bullied and takes revenge, while getting accepted in some huge institution which is... more>> just a small part of a bigger sect, and the sect is the weakest in the surrounding sect alliance, while the sect alliance is only thought as a backward village in the outside world.

Throughout the story of him entering the bigger world his eye (Bloodline) starts changing him but not makes him overpowered at all, he can never jump up levels to battle stronger opponents, nor his good luck shines every time, his only strength is his power to steal techniques and cold calculation. The story starts getting more and more better as it progresses and the romance in the novel doesn't seems faked out or forced as everything moves like butter and only 2 love interest are introduced which from what I know of the spoilers they will be the only love interest in the story. <<less

The first 100 or so chapters are incredibly generic & lack a lot of finesse when it comes to world building. Characters are incredibly 1 dimensional, you've seen them all before & they're repeated endlessly. MCs cheat is incredibly strong, it's kind of a bag of a little bit of everything when it comes to powers. What I mean by the lack of finesse is how everything just seems to exist in a way to give the MC just the right amounts of OPness. Small spoilers ahead:
Spoiler

For example one of the cheat powers is that he can absorb pills & materials at a quicker pace. Since this would obviously be an easy mode cheat all such boosts are explained to have grave diminishing returns.

The perfect photographic memory abuse for getting all the skills in the first level of the library obviously would be to powerful in the long haul, as such the whole skill book isn't available at later levels, just a small description. There's a ton of these examples, and it just feels like the world overall is just adapting to MCs cheat power to keep him in check.
[collapse]

The upside is that the first few 100 chapters which are incredibly generic moves about at brake neck pace. Power ups & sect advancement is very fast. Later on it gets better, the characters gets slightly more depth. Overall it's a very standard tr*sh MC gets a cheat xianxia, but if you like these type of novels it's pretty enjoyable.

EDIT: Updating to 5/5, this is currently my favorite of all the tons of xianxia I'm reading. Interesting world, but most of all it's not as "s*upid" & one dimensional as most other xianxia. MCs plotting with his pet is great. <<less

It's quite cliche but the kind that's interesting a fun to read. One thing different though is that the MC isn't actually ruthless and that most of his enemies become either rivals, acquaintances or friends kinda like Meng Hao with some of the chosen. I wish he'd get more skills with the bow though, I find the skills he practices quite meh. The eye is pretty cool though.

Plot is getting better and I love how he actually thinks before he acts instead of recklessly rushing through

Novel droped after chapter 806.

The personality of the MC is boring and not likable.

(The Thieving Cat is a better character...)

Spoiler

He is just a cold-heart mu*derer and robber like some cultivator-like characters in other chinese novels.

A girl with wings is chased for her treasures by some cultivators.

The MC saw the scene and captured her with the help of his ally/friend before the other people.

OK... Why not...

The npc begged them to free her and she will give them her treasures.

What do you think our "great" MC will do?

"It's just a non-human female; kill her, " Zhao Feng (the knucklehead MC of this novel) said emotionlessly.

Wow... The stench of racism and "high" morality is so high!

So, following the logic of the MC (and the author), the MC meets some non-human children with treasures.

The MC could say: "It's just some non-human children. Kill them! Their treasures and body parts are useful for me or/and my allies..."

F#####g criminal of war mentality!

Don't expect a great romance either.

His Godly Eye show him women as squeletons so we can say his libido is very weak and he prefers to cultivate than to be with a woman most of the time.

You can read if you're bored but this novel has disappointed me.

Rating: 5* -> 2* (2* because the beginning of this novel was interesting)

Very typical as the translator says, will edit this if there is a dramatic plot twist. However, it's not badly written, and probably won't be until the one-dimensional harem members appear. It's your generic, weak to op MC. It's enjoyable if you haven't been tainted by the many many novels like this yet, and aren't of tired of cliches. I'll probably read this until repetitiveness appears, e.g insults MC, MC destroys family, meets new harem member, solves said harem member's troubles, gets insulted again, destroys family etc. I do hope... more>> it doesn't go down that path though. It has potential like all those typical xianxias do in the beginning, but I don't have many expectations for it to suddenly give me a shocking plot twist like the translator says. I'll continue reading, and if there is one, I'll edit this review to make it better.

In short: It's enjoyable if this is one of the first xianxias you've read and haven't gotten tired of those xianxia cliches yet. On the other hand if you have, then I won't recommend it. <<less

Story started very genric. Later it got better after like 400ish chapter. I mean better compared to early-shitty ones. Well I got a bit of attention span and Patience which some reviewers don't have. I will update it later on too after I finish the book.

So far it's pretty Avg. As a guy who read like 20ish cultivation Novel including good works like Er Gen's, I eat Tomatoes. I'll say this novel is not for veterans at all but you get the point. Those who wants to read a novel... more>> Calm Minded MC who schemes against others. Dense asf. virg*n bloodline. It's for them.

All I can say is well... The novel should be named "King of Dark horse" or "King of Runaway" well horses do run fast......

MC is not so OP just has Few Almost OP abilities but in next few chapters people do find out how to counter those "OP" abilities. He can only fight 1-2 sky above I mean not Rank but Sky (example: 1st sky of God Realm, 2nd sky of God Realm). If you want Heavenly Batter Power MC who pops Even 3-4 high level like cutting Cabbage and Chopping Vegetables.... Well this will let you down. Though it has a Logic of "Old dudes cultivated long time so he has dense Yuan/Qi/Spirit". Can't argue that.

Characters so far almost all is low IQ few is Mid IQ and High IQ is almost none. FMC is tr*sh. It lacks depth. Bro got forced by plot but still lets him be controlled even of knowing he was schemed against like bruh, to hell with your guilt. Sometimes I think even Side character is better than MC. I don't like MC at all Tbf. Some high IQ comes and Troubles for Few chapters then dying at the end cause of dude's Eye is Quite Annoying. You'll understand why I call it annoying after 400 chapters. Well it gets a bit funny after 500 chapters by how he makes people die even without knowing how ke kills them.

Overall I wouldn't recommended for people who likes direct action and doesn't like Calm and peace. Oh yeah you heart will be pumping too cause dude always gets people in his ass.... All I can see is he runs away from everything. Most of the story is about him scheming how to run away from enemies like bruv. At least do someone the place traps on your track to annoy them to death but nah. Dude runs away freely like a bird. He could at least learn some array but nah dude thinks only battle power is Supreme. But who listens to whom?

All in all don't read if you don't like the things above. <<less

I'll make it simple fo everyone:

2/3 stars.

The novel is very generic and if you are a veteran, you can just drop it.
Nothing exceptional; it's a decent read but it lacks depth.

With depth I mean the characterization of the charactes, world building, techniques originality, misteries and above all, Dao comprehension (Dao is just a field of study... so Dao of medicine is just medicine, but the charactes never approach Dao comprehension like in Er Gen stories or many others) ;
MC cultivation is fast but he is never OP.... more>> Most of the time he has difficulties with people a couple of small realms above his (ex. 1st level of x realm vs 3rd level of same realm).
Romance is forceful and the female lead is spoiled with everything (resources, masters, her races... whatever...) <<less

The novel has it all. Cliche plot, arrogant young masters, bland main characters, rubbish romance etc... yet it was boredom that got to me in the end. After all that rinse and repeat of offending various powers, entering secret realms (for the umpteenth time), winning every single tournament (don't forget the peanut gallery) and so on I decided I had enough, but considering i've read ch1000+ I'll give it a solid 2.5/5. Not great, not too terrible. Good riddance Zhao Feng and gang.

Another novel finished,

I'm rating this a sub-par standard 2.5 stars, just a little bit worse and this will be 2 stars and not worth my time. I rated it 2 stars since there's no half star and I'm not willing to give this 3 stars.

The concept revolves around a subpar MC called Zhao Feng who found the "God Eye" and became a talented cultivator.

... more>> The cultivation system followed a pretty standard formula of foundation building, origin core, nascent soul, etc only with different names.

The story is very repetitive with every arc following the same formula where MC will always be the underdog with his opponents in a higher cultivation level enough to threaten him but will eventually be defeated when MC grow during the arc. Fortunately the background stage is different which make this bearable, although at later stage I just totally skipped the battle since it is so predictable.

Author managed to cover most of the plot holes by consistently throwing reasons on the holes. It was okay at first, but then you'd realized that author will simply make some reasons out of nowhere, but yeah, at least it got covered.

There was also this weird sense of distance in the novel. You see, the world in this novel is big, just the lower world alone is already much bigger than Earth. But every single time enemy and friends will find themselves meeting with each other. The chasing sequence, escape, or reinforcement also took a ridiculous short amount of time or too long depending on how author wants the story to unfold.

The concept of the God Eye itself is very interesting, it took a lot of inspiration from Sharingan in Naruto. I quite enjoyed the eye progress but then got ultimately disappointed at the end, spoiler of ending

Spoiler

At the end The Eye simply become an end all be all solution, the enemy was basically defeated with a plot armor, MC cultivation and techniques doesn't even matter

[collapse]

Side characters are weakly developed but passable. Romance is a disaster. But I like that Author put a little side stories at the end which is always great to have.

After reading 60-70% of this novel i'd rate this a standard 3 stars for okay, but then the later part fell apart and totally downgrade this novel to a 2 stars. At the end there is the author note where he said that it's supposed to end at 3mil words but got extended to 5mil words due to popularity, so yeah...

Still I finished it and it's got its good points, so 2.5 stars it is. <<less

Good, would have been better without the useless romance, also:

Seriously Hai Yun never thought of killing the MC family or use them as a bait? I know the elder who lost an arm promise to protect them but how could he do that since the entire country and sect are on his hands? It's a big con for me.

EDIT : read a bit more up to chapter 30. Wow. It actually defied all expectactions... by being even more s*upid and ridiculous. Do yourself a service and don't read this.

OLD REVIEW (better named: rant)

At chapter 14 for now, which is pretty early to give a review. I gave this novel a second chance because I heard some people gave it high praise, but so far I only want to ask one thing. Why are people so ret*rded in this novel? This is honestly hard to read because... more>> I constantly have to remind myself those people are supposed to be humans despite clearly acting like braindead monkey. No, sorry. Monkey are smarter.

Author also clearly has math problem, and in general has problem with world building and realism. Or put otherwise, very little thing makes sense. Even only 14 chapters in, it strongly seems that the world exist so that the MC can do faceslapping, and there is no other reason anything happens. Literally. As for whatever description or number the author gives, those are best dismissed as the author's poor attempt to add more words in the chapter because as soon as you start thinking about what the author just said, you realize nothing makes sense and he is just making a fool of himself.

MC is also unbelievably arrogant (well, okay, it's pretty believable by xianxia standard I guess). Some people apparently greatly enjoy the fact the protagonist has a stick up his ass and believes himself superior to everyone even when he is still weak, but all I see is a narrow-minded arrogant fool.

I'm not sure if the author has had problems with women and taking "revenge" here, or he is just using some of the most boring cliches for the fun of it, but anyway the whole thing is weird.

How this novel has such a high rating so far eludes me.

Translation is ok. Not too bad, not too good. All in all it's understandable but clearly translation is too literal. For example, "using many to fight less" would have been much better translated as "using strength in number". So all in all understandable but quite a bit is awkward to read. <<less

It's tr*sh but good enough to pass the time if you take enough breaks. You will not find any kind of logic here. No matter what character or even lore in the story, logic is not here. Even when I got to the sects having wars, I imagine people playing tag with powers. I'm still confused how people would underestimate the MC, when he blatantly showing you he's stronger than you think.
