Ruins stretched across the landscape in the apocalypse after the nuclear war.

If you accidentally survived on the wasteland, then you must be ready to face the endless hunger, ceaseless dangers, the mad zombies at night, and the peculiar mutant creatures that are the aftermaths of the constant radiation.

But for Jiang Chen, this place was heaven.

Mansions stood tall, luxurious cars parked on the street, high tech products and gold abandoned everywhere.

What? You were the president of a game development company before the war? You were responsible for the development of the 3D virtual reality online multiplayer game? Well, that’s great, why don’t you come work for me. The salary is two pieces of bread a day.

iPhone? Ultra thin design? Don’t you see that the phone I invented are thinner than cond*ms?

Aircraft carrier? Fighter jets? Oh, I have those things as well, but they are designed for space combat.

Watch the story of Jiang Chen, who possessed the ability to travel through space and time, as he witness the creation of an empire stretched across space and time..

Honestly, this novel was so close to being a masterpiece, as there are so many things it does right compared to other CN webnovels. Although it has flaws, I think I've been so used to seeing shittier novels that a novel without those shitty qualities is too refreshing and might make me a bit biased. Although, unfortunately, it has two jarring problems (mentioned below) that made me remove a couple of stars.

Pros:

    • Well-defined and simple setting (MC has the ability to move between modern Earth in around 2016 and a post apocalyptic Earth around 150 years in the future)
    • Real growth (personality-wise and personal power)
        • MC starts off as an anxious and weak-willed guy and eventually becomes someone who is able to take control of his own life and plan far ahead. The MC himself also reflects how much he's grown during moments of introspection throughout the novel too
    • Plenty of struggle that makes the growth meaningful and memorable
        • The MC's ability has many constraints and he isn't completely overpowered, which requires a lot of foresight
        • His overconfidence bites him many times and leads back to the previous point with personal growth
    • Good pacing between action and slice of life
    • Really interesting political dynamics and socioeconomic problems that do an excellent job of mirroring the real world
        • This also ties into the relationships between many countries such as e.g. The US and the middle east and how richer countries fund wars or cause instability to influence economics
    • Phenomenal interspersing of the novel's backstory and Earth's actual history, going back to WW2
        • I had to look up so many things to determine what was fiction and what actually happened, but the author really did his research for many things
    • Awesome technological development
        • There are many interesting pieces of tech or tech sectors that are developed throughout the course of this novel and the author also did an amazing job with researching and breaking down the problems and requirements for many of them (although not everything was entirely accurate) and the novel spends a good amount of time tackling these hurdles in a logical fashion
    • Love interests are useful and aren't just wastes of space
    • Male side characters are also not just useless foils that make the MC stand out
    • Not sure if this is also considered a con, but the apocalyptic world is quite literally the universe of Fallout by Bethesda
        • The con is perhaps the lack of originality with the setting? But I haven't seen any other popular books or fanfics for it, so this was awesome and refreshing for me since I love this world
        • The whole theme around the people in the apocalypse warring based on the ideological differences of supremacy vs purity vs harmony was really interesting too
    • Although abrupt, the ending was satisfying and done at a decent point in the novel before things got stale
    • Solid translation quality
Cons:

    • MC basically r*pes innocent women
        • r*pe is a brutal form of psychological/emotional as well as physical torture. If the MC/author tried to justify it by doing this to mortal enemies in order to break their minds and have them confess critical information then I can somewhat understand it, but the MC does this several times to women who both aren't a threat and who the MC is basically trying to turn into an ally simply because he's a h**ny piece of sh*t
        • The best part is that after this happens several times, 2/3rds of the way into the novel, the MC states that (paraphrased) "he never forces anyone to do anything they don't want to" in the context of having a girl he previously r*ped sleep with him "willingly". F*cking ret*rded.
    • A couple of the "women" in his harem are extremely young and are likely younger than 18
    • There are many examples of racism, although it's not overly jarring as the places where it appears is brief. All hostile foreigners will refer to asians as "yellow monkeys" in an attempt to make it seem like every powerful foreign entity has utterly no respect for asians as whole. Maybe the constant denigration is because it's a Chinese web novel? Similarly, black people are insinuated (or maybe directly stated, can't remember) to be s*upid and primitive in the Apocalypse version of Earth
    • I personally prefer only one love interest (maaayyybe two in certain cases like Release that Witch), but there are just too many women to make the romance remotely enjoyable IMO
As you can see above, there are a ton of good qualities to this novel, but the cons are generally in the same vein and will understandably put off a lot of people. I have mixed feelings about this novel because the cons I mentioned are so utterly easy for the author to have just simply not written or tweaked. All the other elements are in place for this to have been a wholly fantastic novel, but alas, the MC (i.e. Author) decided to let his own perverse scumbag fantasies bleed through and tried to justify it in a half-assed fashion. I chose to just pretend they didn't exist and ended up thoroughly enjoying the rest of the novel, but I believe many readers might not be able to do the same.

TL;DR: If it weren't for the cons above (mainly 1 and 2), I would give this novel a rare 5/5. Unfortunately, I don't even know what to actually rate this since I can't determine how many stars to take off, but I'm going to go with a 3.5.

If there was just a bit more to the ending. It just ended way to early on without fully resolving everything. Even if it was meant to be an open-ended ending, the author didn’t even bother to button it up properly. A good example of that would be something like Lord of Mysteries. Even though there are going to be more parts to that story. I think would’ve been more satisfied if this was labeled as dropped or found news of this being dropped somewhere on the net.

Apart from my... more>> dissatisfaction with the ending, I really enjoyed the story. Even as someone from, what he obviously refers to as, country F, I didn’t take it to heart. A story has to have a villain. Besides this story is a work of fiction. Despite the fact that it may reflect the authors true to life narrow views. It’s actually very typical where he comes from. His direct readers will find it easy to relate. Maybe that’s the point. This wasn’t meant for the wider audience.

In terms of character design and development, the protagonist certainly isn’t bland. If anything, his strong albeit occasionally offensive opinions make him interesting, more real, and his morally bankrupt nature makes him more relatable to the common man. Especially for readers who get laid a lot.

Science Fiction is a hard genre. You have to know a good deal about something to write about it. Even if it’s all bullshit. To be able to provide a moment of escape from reality for the common man is good enough in my book. <<less

I'm sorry this story defines a loser. No matter when in the story I can help but think this author is a loser. You can tell it's an self fulfillment novel. A lot of the logic just don't make sense.

He uses advance tech but the author didn't even bother about modern tech... What? Learn han if you want to use our os. You do know what UI os right. That like Microsoft saying learn English if you want to use windows, when all you need to do is hire a... more>> translator.

Killing people left and right but worried about an old politician??? Wifing up a women that tried to make you homeless because of a bad joke.

I can go on and on smh. The MC is a loser. I would like it better if he was a simp. A simp or whatever they be calling it wouldn't kiss and try to worship someone that tried and make him homeless.

The way he does everything in this novel makes my brain hurt. It's just horrible. I can't even say it's the MC at this point the author is just an idiot. The best thing about it is, is the "what if" factor.

It's painful. A 5 yr old wouldn't think these are smart choices. It makes me wonder how our asian brothers are doing on the other side of the world, because these light novels be having you thinking. <<less

This novel is very interesting on both Wasteland and Modern World. I forgot to review in this novel years ago. I read this novel 3 times and also one of my favorite novel.
Spoiler

MC can travel both world

Wasteland

-MC goes conquest and gather talented subordinates. MC earns the loyalty of his people by providing them a safe place and food, since food here in wasteland is lacking.

-MC turns wasteland into Utopia.

-MC's faction didn't take over this world but it control all trade route, food and technology.

-I don't understand why MC didn't take over africa, it has rich soil good for planting. MC can decimate those warlord tribe but he never did, probably due to rush ending

Modern World

-MC have monopoly of technology because of the wasteland.

-MC can't do typical conquest because it is already in modern era so he use politics.

-MC Founded a small country and later become Top 1 country

-MC didn't die at the end of novel, he also attend his own funeral but for the public he died heroic. His harem know that he is still alive and also some of his higher staff.

-MC Family doesn't mention much.

MC Harem

It was confirm that he married 7 women (ch 1608 last part but it was not clear whom exactly, MC have 12 women in his harem but he only married 7 women) I would like if MC also marry Qian Xia from Modern World and also Wang Qin from Wasteland she is the Logistics department manager.

3 women in his harem was forgotten.

Han Junhua - MC's Military Advisor in Wasteland.

Wu Qian - President of the Chamber of Commerce in wasteland. Had s*x with MC so MC will support her.

Huang Li - Wanhua Real Estate in Modern world when MC buying a mansion. Had s*x with MC so MC will buy the mansion in complete cash.

To Summarize:

-Ending is rush

-3 harem members forgotten. Wu Qian and Huang Li is not really part of harem but MC have a least relationship with them. Han Junhua clearly forgotten by author.

I rate this novel 5/5

I recommend this novel. Despite some plot hole this novel still good and interesting to read. If you are looking for a decisive MC, not beta MC. This novel is for you.

For starters this novel isn’t a 5 star, it’s a 4 to 4 and a half star but its 5 due to a large amount of Philippine reviews downvoting it. Its easier for angry people to review it badly that for people that enjoyed it to do the same.

Moving on this novel has some good points and some bad points. Good points:

  • Attention to detail: It places an amazing emphasis in the attention to detail be it from new technology, how logistics would work, how shadow corporations manipulate the behind the scenes. How investing and lending works, and how most businesses tend to be started. Without mentioning mercenary work and how it tends to work.
  • Harem: It has one of the better written harems, no girl is ever forgotten, and a lot of action is implied. There is all distinct even if the tend to have a certain predetermined personality for simplicity’s sake they work well with the story.
  • Story telling: Theres a lot of emphasis on the story telling aspect be it from multiple points of view to small stories and how they ended. Very few threads are left unfished.
  • Action/kingdom building: It has a good emphasis on building his empire while at the same time not ignoring having some action moments. Even if at the end they are few and far between.
Now... more>> to the bad points:

  • Not for someone who has 0 moral ambiguity. If you care if the MC r*pes/harass/ens*aves someone this is not for you and its one of its bad points.
  • The beginning: Horrible, horrible, most people will think this is either a wish fulfillment novel or a quick cash in on fallout. Which it is not in both cases.
  • Wish fulfillment: There is some in there. But its so little you can skip the chapter. There are some nice moments but other than the few its cringe.
If you’re from a minor Asian island or from Japan. Don’t read this, its defiantly not for you. I can’t detect any clear racism but for Asian people there seems to actually be. Either way, if you are not Asian you don’t have to worry, and I would suggest ignoring reviews from this guy since they seem to be targeted in the novel. Reading angry peoples reviews doesn’t help you if you’re not affected at all.

As far as Chinese nationalism. Theirs some but not a lot, easily withing the tolerable limit, and to the point where if asked I would have to look. Overall a good story with some faults but otherwise solid. <<less

So far, the further the plot progresses, the more intriguing the story becomes. It might not be every person's cup of tea but I recommend reading the story to decide wether to continue reading or drop it.

The story has a lot of cons. For some, any one point might be a reason to not this read this story. I considered dropping it a lot of times. Now that I have caught up with translations, I don't plan to read mtl or consider picking it up again.

I must mention, I enjoyed... more>> more then half of the story I read. <<less

MPAW is an interesting story that has the same strengths and weaknesses as many other chinese wish fulfillment webnovels. And don't be confused. Most of this story is available through "wuxia" websites. Some for free. Others charging.

Strength: An outsiders insider view

    • As a "westerner, " I find an eastern viewpoint fascinating. Especially for a story with half of it taking place in the "modern" world. While I may not agree with large chunks of it? Reading biases coming from a different direction help keep the story fresh.
    • Warning: This story is not "semitically sensitive." So if reading about a "jewish" organization and scheme bothers you significantly? May want to not read this story.
Strength: Maturity

    • It is nice to read a story where the main character isn't a neutered moron nor a choir boy. Jiang Chen often acts in a believable and relatable fashion considering his circumstances at the time. Yes there is s*x but the author feels no need to make it overly graphic.
Weakness: Length

    • This story is way way too long. I get that there is a lot going on. But when the author even feels the need to spend chapters covering expanding into the package delivery service? Dude. You don't have to show "everything." Some stuff you can get away with just telling.
Weakness: Copyright

    • How can you tell its a chinese webnovel? When the names of eastern locations and people are changed but western are not. This story name drops a lot. Is it that hard to change their names a little bit? Reading lines from Tom Cruise, Emma Watson, Stephen Hawkings, etc, etc... When you can't imagine them actually saying that? Hurts the story's immersion.
Weakness: Translation

    • The translation is a bit hit or miss. Somethings really don't appear to have been translated correctly. Like Country F or City M instead of Philippines and Manila. Or maybe the translation isn't grabbing the same letters? While Germany is Frankberg but France is France? Also the spelling seems to shift a bit. Like Australia is sometimes Atria.
Overall an interesting wish fulfillment story that feels refreshing compared to the typical isekai pre-teen copy paste stuff.

This is... Let's say that when I read the chapter 1 I got the feeling that this become worse later on. So I stop and search in NU about others comments. Then maybe I'm correct.

This is a post apocalypse novel not your average romance or what so ever. If you see that MC have romantic harem then maybe there something wrong. (not bl)

Like... He have food than the others so... Hehe. Maybe its a fake love. Just saying, anyway I hate a tr*shi MC and his so-called harem.

This novel is surprisingly fun. As long as you embrace its sillines and does not take it seriously.

I actually finished reading this and left quite satisfied. Also, Kingdom Building genre is not doing it justice lol, it is "World Domination" would be more fitting.
Oh and you also curing Stephen Hawking and recruit him to planning, prepare and fight against massive horde of aggresive alien species.

Plot summary for people who like spoilers :) :

At first it is mediocre, guy who luckily got hit by some kind of object in the... more>> night. Turn out you can travel into parallel of post apocalyptic Earth that somehow covered in zombies, monster, and mutants. But as the MC uncovered mysteries in paralel world here is where things got interesting.

Spoiler

Turn out the apocaliptic parallel world was a result of war between three country/union such as PAC (united of Asia in it enirety) UA (America and Europe) and Soviet (Russia and part of europe) in the future that things got so bad they decide just to use nuclear just to f*ck with the surviving member of other Union. The war itself ironically is not a nuclear war, it is futuristic war consist of like a weapon called "God Cane" that use kinetic bombardment plasma gun, laser gun, giant rail gun (like Genesis from Ace Combat 0 Belkan War) while the defender use device called "Holy Shield" which basically a force field and smaller variation of it used in soldier armor.

After the result of war, destruction was everywhere and people use underground bunker for shelter. Meanwhile some a**holes at the government decide to flee from the planet to distant habitable planet. While they are fleeing, they decide to unleash nuclear just to f*ck with the enemy survivor and flee to another distant habitable Planet with plan in mind to reclaim their home planet Earth in the future.

After the fleeing people arrive to the Planet, surprisingly, the planet they choose has a ant-like/insect civilization which still in primitive age or stone age human but their number are countless. So the human fight against the native creature in the planet. After some years, the human are able to settle in the planet because they had very advanced technology but in stagnant mode because constant fighting and the casualty was severe compared to the Ant-like/insect creature countless number of them.

Then, out of desperation the human try to contact and make peace with the insect creature because human discovered the insect are intelegent and capable of tought. After that, they slowly but surely assimilate. Human later learn that the insect gained intelect and thought because they are developed thanks to hundred of years of fighting against human. And then after years of peace and interacting human and the insect creature began assimilate in body and mind. They began get married and s*x and creating offspring.
So after peace achieved, the newly combined creature began thinking to come/reclaim their forefather/ancestor planet. They began building spaceships and able to because the highly advanced technology of human. At first they plan to come back to parallel Earth, but because the ability of MC that able to travel between parallel world somehow emitted special energy/wave/somekind of radio signal, the insect spaceship able to detect it and trace them to MC original Earth and they decide to come to the MC earth too.

And that ties to how MC teamed up with Stephen Hawking to prepare against the insect invasion. <<less

One of the best novel i've read since I started reading CN such as panlong which introduce to me into xianxia/wuxia/xuanhuan genre.

In most Xianxia/Wuxia/Xuanhuan novels i've read this is the best progressive or maturing of the MC unlike the most genre and fanfiction wherein they got superpower/cheats/system/plot Armor, the MC are always OP, sometimes will be defeated or getting revenge for humiliation, genocide the clan and many more. But in this novel MC you can see the maturity and development of the character such because at start the MC are... more>> just a pe*vert, immature who's only looking for getting rich turn into some whose can control a country power that can decided the future of humanity also create an order in lawless post apocalyptic world. At least this MC have goal and ready to sacrifice its life not such boring reason for humanity, for the country but only for his love one, maybe it was selfish reason but why it also the reason have much characteristic than other novel.. Too bad the sequel for this novel is already dropped by the author because there are no more development in the story. <<less

It was good, the fallout influences made it a bit easier to get into the world and it did somewhat diverge eventually.

It has been awhile but I felt my motivation really dropping from reading it when the space elevator opened up, it was like MC was trying to have all these plans but it ends up being really unrealistic and he has so many things over his head that he just straight up ignores.

Spoiler

He 'runs' a small island nation, gets nukes, launches them to threaten various world powers and we're meant to believe that things are mostly ok? Those world powers fear him but wont undermine him massively? He doesn't even have an armoured car/driver until a couple of assassination attempts on him and his people.

It was fun to read about a sci-fi novel, with massive game influences, that had a lot of kingdom building in two different worlds. I just wish it was... better...

He ends up with the technology to make the world better, technology to make the world 'fear' him, unite against the foes that only he is aware of and one of the first things he does is make a Wuxia VRMMO... <<less

It's one of those novel written using the author's lower half. Too much wish wish fullfilment written badly. There's a lot of plot holes not to mention the s*upidity of the author to make every woman he met get wet just by hearing the protagonist talk. It would have been fine if there are proper development here and there but it's not.

How could I define it? It's like some puke and the author recycle it for the readers to eat.

It's a good novel if you can ignore plotholes here and there. There's quite a few jokes on many real life people. People say in reviews that this is another Chinese raicst author but if you've read much extreme racist novels then this one is quite mild in comparison. Because let's face it any author will atleast try to boast about their own country otherwise how will they sell their book, especially if it's not written in English originally and instead written in their national language.

The story is basically about traveling to the Fallout game universe. The beginning is pretty interesting as the main character establishes himself on both sides, but it soon gets boring. The threats become too forced, especially on the real world side that it feels absurd.

An entertaining read. Smexy scenes are censored, which definitely annoyed me a bit. I had to look for raws and the patreon to get slightly less censored but still pretty PG chapters. Sigh. Chinese censorship, am I right.

The future world brought up Rebirth of MC vibes, though the ML there was definitely much more OP and thus I was much more reassured about the MC's safety. Though I guess in this case the MC is the ML and unfortunately the MC is still not as OP as the MC in... more>> Rebirth. He does get stronger after the vaccine and his near death experiences, so that was slightly more satisfying. But the MC is sufficiently strong in the future world, and indeed more OP in the modern world thanks to his cheat. For the modern world, I got some VPAATP and I'm in Hollywood vibes, which I definitely enjoyed. Though I think he could have had higher standards... he picked up random refugees and gets h**ny literally at the smallest amount of teasing. Honestly, you wouldn't know if he's experienced or not based on how easily he's teased. Still, I'm a big fan of the harem, and I hope (and I'm pretty sure from spoilers) that they can all reunite in some timeline.

Make sure to read this with at least a couple shakers of salt, especially the politics parts in the modern world. I don't really pay attention to politics at all, and even I was frequently like hmm are you sure it works like that but ok. Corruption is everywhere, kids. No MTL for this one, though trying a couple chapters of Microsoft translate seems pretty coherent. Lots of plot holes and just stuff in general that isn't explained, such as how his bracelet came about, the Golden Apple, Northern Alliance, etc etc. As long as you don't pay too much attention to the details and don't stress out about the sometimes frustrating parts of the story, would definitely recommend this. I'll be back when more translated chapters come out. <<less

This is a novel that get better and better the more you read since the first 2 Volume (C1 - C85) of this story kinda amateur and typical xuanhuan story but as more and more chapter released the author begin to write a rather better plot even thought the world building including the lore clearly stolen from Fallout.

The MC isn't a cliche embodiment of Justice nor beta pu*sy neither an annoying arrogant young master thus it won't be another repeated story line like the typical xianxia plotline (Library of... more>> Heaven's path).

If you enjoy politics and doesn't give damn about a little prejudice which unlike some people (that give this novel low rating) over react and become butthurt I think this story is really worth it to read. <<less

I finally finished reading this novel and I have to say I do have some mixed feelings.

All in all, it's a very good novel. But, I can't deny that the beginning of this novel was written rather amateurish.

This changes in pace as the author gets more familiar with writing and what he's looking for in his novel. The novel gets better the more you read it.

It's mainly focused on world building in both worlds, which surprised me on how developed it became. Both worlds have their own charms which made... more>> me want to read non-stop.

The romance bit is, how to say it, realistic in a sense but weird. He has one-night-stands with random girls and he has his main harem. The only thing I didn't really like was that a few girls was left out of the harem in the end.

For the few things which made my experience a little worse while reading this novel was; plot holes. Yes, there are a few times the author just skips the previous plans entirely and begins with something else. It also led to leaving out a few girls out of the harem (which I disliked the most)

As I mentioned earlier, it's a very good novel, so do try and give it a chance. <<less

Surprisingly good. While the beginning and early-middle may have you frustrated and bored, the author drastically improves the plot and style of the story. By the time the MC takes over his country and starts properly moving tech between worlds, the pace quickens and the story becomes more interesting.

You may think the apocalypse is the main setting for the story, but think a bit deeper and ask yourself, "Why?" It's the apocalypse and most of the world's resources had already been ruined. Other than the tech and people, there's literally... more>> nothing the MC would want. Hence, the main setting is actually the real world. That's also the best arc IMO.

Harem-wise, I was expecting a bigger harem... A few choice girls were basically ignored by the end... sighs... Other than that, I liked the author's portrayal of female characters. Basically, they weren't completely flat... I could at least read about them and remember their personalities. Too many stories devolve into simply assigning a number to the new harem character. <<less
