Shao Xuan joins a friend in his expedition to a recently discovered archaeological cave. After he picks up an ordinary looking stone he is teleported to a different world and wakes up in the body of a small orphan child. The world he is in now is still in its stone age with primitive tools made of stone and the ways of the people are savage. Savage isn’t the only thing special about the people though, because they have superhuman strength, jump higher than trees and punch stones. In short, they are able to cultivate their bodies. Despite all this, it is a real struggle to survive because of the scarcity of food. Together with Caesar, his pet wolf, he tries to survive in this cruel world.

Absolutely brilliant! I never expected to find such a well-written web novel that would have me engrossed every chapter.

The story is about a boy who transmigrated from Earth, but he doesn't have a cheat system or god looking out for him. In fact, being a transmigrator has very little impact on the story and the MC gets stronger based on his own strength.

He starts out as an orphan where he helps to improve the living conditions of his fellow orphans by giving them a new source of food. As he... more>> grows up, he becomes stronger by hunting monsters and finding medicinal herbs that help him improve. The plot of the story is to reunite with the other half of his tribe that has been separated by the sea and no one knows how to get to the other side because of the monsters. The MC doesn't seek to become the #1 in the world, he simply wants his tribe to thrive and return to their former glory.

The world-building is fabulous, the writing is excellent, and the storyline is amazing!

The only drawback is that there's no romantic interests, but the story is so good that it doesn't matter. <<less

This is now the best novel that I have read. No cheesy romance, no s*upid coincidence, no endless competition, no random useless character and most importantly no 'cabbage'. Those that should die, will be dead. I hate it when a villain is left alive unnecessarily. I start reading this novel last year but stop around c300+ as the original translator stop the translation and was replaced by garbage MTL. Veratales kindly took over and I am glad he did. Even though the novel has finish its translation, I have even... more>> donated a small amount to the translator. <<less

Another great novel from this author

This novel start w MC transmigrated into historical era, same concept but done so much better

MC explore the new world w own custom like winter solstice and w working power system and wider world building (desert area, mountain area, seaside town and city w own survival skill) with realistic reactions and thinking skill of every Single Character (there's no bad guy just conflict of interest)

Summary:

Spoiler

MC transmigrated as a kid and had his worldview changed as an orphan kid as he learn from other adults and gather the other orphans to get own food. Then on winter solstice awaken as warrior, a ritual that most kids go through as they reach age10. He found out that he has add power of seeing Skeleton while others can't. After that learn Blacksmith skill w stoneware gain 1+1 deal of mentor and dad, and join hunting team to learn to hunt while getting into accident cause even monsters have intellect and likes targeting the weakest in the group and as a newly awaken warrior below age of 10, MC is yummy treat 😂.

MC got better w training and getting some shaman skill which surprise! The shaman in the village was happy for and not the typical vicious scheme behind the back {there's no political conflict within the tribe as chief and shaman work together but everyone listen to shaman} at 1st MC was not convince w shaman vodoo but slowly he view himself as part of tribe and when other belittle the tribesmen by saying that they excel just because of MC, the tribesmen was so proud of MC and admit it so smugly.

The adventure into wide world leads to kingdom building where tribe improve lifestyle and better reputation along w showing the world their united might whole keep getting tangled up in conflict of interest and being too stubborn to back down.

[collapse]

In short, main and side characters are all flesh out and makes the reader cheer for them. No backstabbing nor politics schemes within the tribe making the tribe as ferocious monster in PPV of others but big family within the tribe, even though half was separated for year <<less

Highly highly recommended. It's kind of like kingdom-building or tribe-building here, but it never gets boring. There are adventures, mysteries, and action (a hell lot of it). It is never repetitive, and there is always a new plot appearing that will make you want to continue reading.

It was one hell of a journey and I loved every single moment of it.

I can't help but comment about this novel. It was so good!! The ending may have been unsatisfactory for other readers but I think it was very open-ended~ makes you think what life is like in the current period and most importantly, a huge potential for a next related story!!! (But I don't wanna get my hopes up, dreaming don't hurt anyone :, - ()

I dont know about a sequel or anything but I can only hope or imagine by myself for a while. Anyways, definitely not a bad... more>> read, its actually very hot- blooded and every scene just makes you wanna read more. It is also very satisfying, despite the 800+ chapters, you can't help but want more, there's so much lore and world building enough to start a different novel!! I highly recommend everyone to read this novel as a start to reading long novels with Cultivation elements, its the standard of story building you'd at least expect with a good story. <<less

there's a lot of plot holes in the story, I don't get what's with the high ratings and I am utterly disappointed and fooled by the ratings.

i.g.
story keeps saying the competition is tough and there are a lot of factions in the tribe, internal strife blabla that's why most warriors are competetive to get stronger than the other but there's almost no depth in the tribe's internal settings. No factions opposing each other and shit, there's even less than 15 characters introduced and more than 5 are not appearing.... more>> Even the power level which consist of junior warrior, mid level warrior, senior warrior is almost non existent to the story. There are like what.. 3 senior warriors introduced so far, even the warriors and people are describe vaguely.

the rewards after each hunt is useless. Hunting teams look for valuable materials, story kept explaining on how important that shìts is, MC or other warriors fought monsters almost to death just to get those item after that they go back home BUT then the rewards are just glossed over or forgotten and continues on the story on how hard their life is. It's completely useless.

MC fought sum strong mosters with sharp and strong carcass, you'd expect he's going to make those monster carcasses to make stronger weapons but no, he is still using stone weapons. It's forgotten after a chapter or so then rinse and repeat the plot.

in the story, the tribe is introduced as a whole community where camaraderei and fellow tribesmen are good with each other but rainy season comes, dangerous season, so warriors won't go out and hunt to get food, and they stock foods in their homes to survive that season. Thing is, people/warriors who lived below in their tribe have not stocked foods since they're all lower status, elderly, orphans, or warriors that have been injured and can't hunt. Only the strong warriors living in upper tribe have stock their food so yes, the people who are not strong are suffering and the stronger ones are not helping them since there are "rules" in the tribe made by shaman, cheif, leaders, ancestors that everyone should fight and get their own food so they won't get dependent and become stronger. But that so called leaders and shaman kept being described as caring lol wtf.

there's literally no point in the story and plot. The only interesting thing early on is that each hunt there are people who mock MC but then they got saved, saw, whatever that MC is a badass and get faceslapped but it gets boring, it's already boring though.

the fighting scene? Meh it's below mediocre. It only describes slashing, running, dodge, throwing, putting trap etc etc. It's not explained in detail so you have to use your imagination yourself.

well if you like stories like that, do read and enjoy lol. <<less

Some of the best translation/writing I haver ever seen. You have sentences with 20 words in them and proper grammar, which already puts this novel in the top 5% of all translations. On top of that the core theme is something I very much enjoy and the novel manages to avoid a lot of boring tropes like setting up every figure of authority as the enemy or rivals that try to ambush/kill the protagonist constantly. Absolutely worth a read if you low-tech settings in which a person relies on skills... more>> such as stealth and traps to survive and doesnt use ever increasing energy waves to kill their enemies. <<less

Too often, long-winded, snail-paced stories are associated with well-written literature. People think that the classics, like, for example, The Great Gatsby, or The Odyssey, or even Lord of the Rings, were all extensive, slow-paced tales.

However, sometimes a story is slow-paced for no other reason than the author squeezing in more dough from meeting his chapter quota with boring, boring, useless shit.

From what I've read so far, this is it. I am bored beyond belief. There is so much information and storyline that is utterly pointless and could have been circumvented... more>> early on.

Just because something is long and detailed does not mean it is good. This is not good. This is boring. <<less

(Epilog) OMG!! Can't believe it's finished. Even I am not satisfied with he ending, I feel sad to say goodbye to this novel. Is good adventure reading, and it's sad there some of the fate I will never know, but is a good read. I would love to see SX back to the morden world. But that not gonna happen. He did marry and have 3 children, but I was loving SX as this story end. Gonna miss such Great story. I fin read it on 08/2022. Is hard... more>> to believe I start reading on 2017.... Tq to translator team.

(Chp.228) I know Xuan in different world but it be awesome if he use Chinese writing in the wall a bit. Like in sarcastic tone say that he hope the archeology friend might see this.

And I know his in puberty; but out of all the "girl / women" choices he had out there, with hygiene lifestyle in question. It would be hilarious to think; who will be his partner. But then again he did say he begun to loss memory of the world where he is from bit by bit. Maybe someday he thinks that world is just a figment of his dream.

It sad...

(Chp.211) I really love this story from beginning until now. <<less

Straight-forward novel about a MC getting strong in a stone age world. No complex story line, nor romance. If you have nothing else to read, this novel can provide some entertainment for a while. For me, it felt like things are getting repetitive & I'm dropping it.

I have read the whole novel, I loved the novel step by step at the beginning everything was great. The beginning is where the high reviews are built on but as we progress especially at the last 1/3 part of the novel everything goes downhill. Let me explain,

Tribes or clans have bullied the MC and his tribe, have gathered to eradicate them, have stolen from them, but what happens to them? NOTHING. I kept reading anticipating revenge especially with the sweet development of the MC's tribe but there is... more>> no retaliation every dog that barks can bark and nothing will happen to them.

Fox, Lu, Yi, Ji, the whole King city, Robbers, Bi s*ave traders, desert city, etc. Nothing happens to them its an utter disappointment. All the development of the tribe is meaningless. Especially with the MC being the strongest of his tribe who are supposedly the strongest tribe physically and having the best weapon he still struggles against a useless organization leader in a fight. Utter disappointment.

All the buildup happening more than half of the novel is for nothing. <<less

I'm very sad that the novel ended so suddenly but I can accept it even though I wish it can continue, on second thought it's good it ended at the right moment, or else the author will have to change the primal name from the novel name lol, a very good novel that I never imagined that I can like this kind of novel about the MC Transferred to the primal age without him inventing new stuff based on his modern knowledge, the first MC way of thinking is the... more>> typical MC who reincarnate without any power and try to adapt with the harsh environment but later you most likely forget that this story is talking about the primal time of earth and the MC is a modern boy who got somehow transferred to the primal time and live in the age which is still unknown till this moment for us modern people because at that time all the history we can get is from the pictures they wrote on cave walls which in this novel is explained that they used animal hides to record the tribe's history which is animal skin doesn't survive after 2k+ years so the novel has supernatural power and human with supernatural ability so they can surivie the harsh environment with all gigantic pray with little knowledge about farming, first part of the novel is about MC trying to change his trible way of thinking little by little then later he himself got assimilated to the tribe which is hilarious. But I accept it since you most likely forget that this story is happening on earth and that MC is a modern man, I wish it has a sequel or another story is similar to it because this type of story is very entertaining, so any fellow reader who thinking of starting to read it, go and start reading it you won't regret wasting your time on it <<less

excellent, 4.5/5 for this novel, the story is fun to read and there are no irregularities that make the story difficult to accept, the interaction between characters also feels natural and not forced, just sometimes quite annoyed because the enemy can often run away after the fight ends which make more trouble for mc

First of all, sorry for my bad English.
I just finished reading this. The story is still in my brain. It's slow progression is what everyone already knows. Some people might be dissatisfied with it and think it's a bowl of soup full of water, but I think the slow pace of the story is the charm of the novel. If you read carefully the contents that you initially thought were those broths, you would later find out that those broths would make the later added meat more delicious and... more>> perfect. Those little things will properly lead to the next big storyline. Everything Shao Xuan found was a string of ropes that led us to our true purpose. At first I skipped a lot of those little stories, but eventually I had to come back and read them again because if you missed that little thing, you might not understand the next story at all.
And what I like the most is Shao Xuan's intelligence. He's not as s*upid as the MCs in many fighting novels when he has the power to go after the genocide of his past enemies. He could let his enemies go if it was related to the interests of his tribe. And the more there is no romance, the more this novel can focus on the development of the plot to the fullest. I have great respect for the author for rejecting the trend and not bringing romance in the middle. I must say that he really made the right decision. It's a lot of fun when there's no love.
But there is a slight downside: some characters lose their roles over time as our roles revolve around Shao Xuan, such as his wolf Caesar and Old Man Ke. The roles at times but like the writers only occasionally came to mind and added, and soon they disappeared as before. But it's understandable because the latter has actually got a lot more characters, might even say it's nice that they can pop out at some point.
Thanks to the authors and translators for allowing me to read such good novels. <<less

An archaic tribal setting on our MC trudging through his tribes social problems while climbing ranks. Bringing great changes and a return journey of half his tribesman from a forgotten forced exodus due to the entire tribes survival.

World building is comparably better than LN and WN of recent year, pliable MC that adapts to the habitat but sacrifices learnt abilities and techniques towards the end for overwhelming brute strength.

Unfortunately characters doesnt make much of an impact and the plot and advantages gravitates toward MC unaturally.

The translations can be said to... more>> be refined and have quality compared to others that are more of interpretations, narrations, rewrites the damn story or swears like a 12yr old that just entered his world of swaering is cool.

Translations are relatively accurate, and contrary to the above mentions; even rewords some of the sentences to fit the story tastefully. <<less

wasn't going to even write a review for this but this author and his works just trigger me. i've read 2 of his works now including this one both have the exact same problem, the author is d*ck riding the slice of life tag so hard that he literally can't see anything else in front of him. there is little to no development in terms of the characters and certain standards make no logical sense in the story for example when the tribe had completely reunited they had around 20k... more>> people according to the novel but they were still complaining how they were short on main power are you kidding me..

thats not even the biggest of issues the biggest issue is motivation or goals. theres 0 goals in this novel idc how care free the novel is supposed to be because its a slice of life the characters need a goal, especially the MC like what is his goal to lead his tribe to the top of the world? well if thats the case its never mentioned and even then if that is his goal it doesn't even add up right think about it your some random dude you get transported to another world into the body of a kid you're living in a foreign tribe and everything you know about the world is flipped upside down. I'm pretty sure the goal for most people wouldn't be to bring their tribe to the top its just illogical.

next the power sigh.... this is probably where I'm the most disgusted like he could've have went way deeper and expanded way more on the totem powers and focused way more on it but nope aside from the initial distinction of levels and the fact of it being a novelty to tribe people it basically got shelved early on. the sadest part too is that this was probably the part of the story that had the biggest potential. funny enough the author does the exact same thing in his other novel that I read... hmm coincidence huh.

also the powers are just whack out of balance I get that you want to make the villians stronger power so you get that power up process but there has to be balance. like the idea that the fire seed and the s*ave owners power were from the same source was a good idea but the author never went into it and theres zero balance like there should be pros and cons to both. meanwhile in the novel the fire seed has clear problems while the s*ave masters as far as the novel is concerned has little to no drawbacks. also on this point the fire seed scares away beasts that why the tribe area is safe but funny enough when he goes over to the other continent people are still living happy lives in their tribe and cities safely. how does this even make sense like the reason why the beast were being fended off was due to the fire seed but they don't have one yet I see nothing like beast waves invading cities and tribes.

next you picked literally 1 of the most barbaric settings but theres barely any conflict.. yeah if were being honest these people are basically barbarians what the living f*ck do you think would happen when you put them together. just go back and read a history text book and you'll find the answer people will fight each other there will be wars. I see none of that aside from the minor scuffle.

all in all last novel I'm reading from this author, its just another 1 of those authors that they write what they want but never write whats the best. I don't recommend reading unless you just don't have anything else to read and too much time on hand like me. <<less

I enjoy this novel.

It has good story, I love MC's journey from little boy to great elder in the tribe. About the ending... It isn't bad but it just too sudden (?) I mean the author could make another 1000 chapters for this novel before he ends it.

Recommended: If you're a fan of action but looking for something slightly different, this certainly is different.

My thoughts can be summed up thusly: An amazingly good setting and okay characters hindered by a relatively lackluster plot.

The protagonist is calm and thoughtful, strong without being overpowering, forward-looking and courageous without being brash. The side characters are also fairly interesting.... in what few appearances they get. There's too many of them, and while they are generally believable, so far the story lacks extended interaction with any of them save for perhaps the... more>> shaman.

The plot... well, there's explicit motivations and the main character's actions certainly help change the situation, but everything feels somewhat vague and couched in mystery because part of the motivation is finding out what, exactly, happened to the MC's tribe and its flame and why they had moved to the place they were in the beginning of the novel.

The most exciting part is, as usual, around the start of the novel, where the MC is struggling to survive and be recognized by the tribe, because that's the part where there's the largest sense that they're actually exploring a strange and hostile land. Later on,
Spoiler

once the MC goes across the river and finds other tribes,

[collapse]
a lot of that sense of exploration and danger is lost, and thus the novel becomes somewhat more boring.

It's still good enough for me to recommend, but I'm not quite as enthralled with it now as I was in the first 100 chapters or so. <<less
