This story is centered around the man named Yi Ji-Hyuk, who has spent 1000 years in a Medieval Western fantasy-like world before returning back to the modern-day Earth. When he returns, he finds that his home is facing monster threats, and that humans with superpowers have appeared to protect the innocent people of Earth.

The thing is, Yi Ji-Hyuk himself lived like a true, bona-fide Demon King in that fantasy world, and the only reason(s) why he returned home is to find some peace and easy going life. So, what will a man like that do?

I understand why people rate this lowly, but there are also people I don't understand why they rate it lowly.

The people who rate it lowly that is understandable is the fact that they don't like the MC, they find him annoying and is not their cup of tea. The people I don't understand why they rate it so lowly is that they think he is ret*rded, which is confusing at the very least.

The story is basically a slice of life action comedy with good humor (considering the fact that I... more>> read sh*t humor that makes me cringe and I basically skim and this is actually moderately funny) and you can understand why the MC is a lazy c*nt (emphasized c*nt since some of you will think he is one) who reluctantly does sh*t that he thinks is a pain considering the fact that he would've lost his sanity in Berafe if his body didn't heal everything including mental damage.

Edit: I removed one star because of his family, I just can't stand their characters. MC must be a saint to not mu*der his mother and sister. They're nothing more but shitty ungrateful THOTs that leech off the MC like a parasite while playing the family card to get forgiveness. They don't try to understand his efforts that rake in money and treat him as a disappointing NEET even though 99% of their money came from him just because he plays LoL (and sucks at it lol I wanna 1v1 the noob if he actually exists in real life)

The harem members are alright though. They have unique personalities without being an extremely annoying bit*h like his mom and sister. Although sometimes annoying, they are not a burden that has no use like his mom and sister.

Edit: got too tired reading the cringy ass reused jokes and shitty chracters and dropped this <<less

So far this novel is like a better version of Seoul station necro. The MC for this novel is very likable and the interactions between the character are really fun to read. As only 11 chapters have been released I cant really say how its going to be in the future but as of now its a very interesting story.

For now:

Story:7-8

World (not much has been introduced) : 7

Translation quality: 10

After 50-100 chapters I will update again.

It definitely has the capability of getting you hooked up in just a few chapters. Conversations between characters also feels natural and flows well, while also being humorous.

Despite that, it's still not for everyone. The premise is about a returnee who became strong but suffered too much in another world. He's definitely not gonna do the things the readers would want him to do as he's different from other protagonists, even to those who share some similarities with him.

I mean, after a few chapters I already don't like MC very much but I kept reading to see how it went on.

But it's just a bunch of BS, he came back on Earth because he wanted to die but then he's afraid of death so he denied to fight monster, or rather than because of laziness.

Even a child knows that catching a whale is illegal, yet, he only disappeared for awhile, just said that 50 years on another world, he already forgot he isn't allowed to catch a whale...... more>> How is that even possible. These situation the author try to make out was executed very badly.

In general, he acted like a douche, no more. Every characters in the story are bad built on their own. <<less

Long af but I shortened alot for myself to explain. The story isnt the best but it is above average it makes me sad to see it getting 1-2 stars becaude people arent seeing things expected in the op MC trait. Ie killing everything that moves instantly. A long time ago, I read a book called Grendel. Grendel was a story with a man eating monster as the MC, Grendel. Grendel went around killing and eating humans. The reader is compelled to view the world from Grendel stand point, relating to Grendel and viewing humans as one would a chicken.

This story has a similar MC. The whole story starts off with the MC killing a world. The MC cares nothing for others and will not hesitate to mu*der anyone who is an obstacle or beat down anyone... more>> because he thinks its funny.

That said, the novel is fairly humorous. The plot line is non-standard and the MC's motivations are straight forward. I especially like the portions involving the MC's family as I feel those are the only times in the novel the MC is human and their written very humorously.

The main characters in the novel are very different from each other but, as the author keeps introducing characters, they have begun to blend together. Also, the side characters might as well not have names as they are not relevant to the plot nor do they have personalities.

Overall, I would rate this novel as a 4.5 based on its merits. However, every now and again the fact that the MC is a mass mu*derer digs into my enjoyment of the Novel. Consequently, I a rate it as a 4. I think its a fairly good. <<less

Heh. Reading these negative reviews makes me feel sad for those who can't pick up on the minor details and understand the true greatness of the MC. This story is a gem hidden behind the stale and aggravating comedy. Honestly, the comedy is what makes it a top tier novel. Whether intentional or not, the comedy creates a veil around the true nature of the characters and their thoughts, whether or not the reader can see the true emotions and feelings of the characters is up to the reader. Being... more>> able to see passed the veil and understand the characters on an intimate level. It's truly satisfying. <<less

The plot is similar to Seoul station's necromancer, but it has different feel to it. Characters feel more real, and comedy is a lot funnier. This has been mostly comedy so far, with some action now and then. It might change in the future.

Some people complain that MC should use his abilities to help other people. I guess they missed it when he destroyed whole world so that he could go home. He simply does not care about whether some strangers live or die. He lived 1000 years in the... more>> other world, died and resurrected hundreds of times, and killed millions of people. He has very little compassion left for other. He is not some hero ready to save the day. He was not called the demon king for nothing. <<less

This novel is a comedy and should not be taken seriously.

The jokes are funny at first, but then they get reused over and over to the point of staleness.

The plot moves slowly; in fact, it moved so slowly that the translator stopped translating the novel because of how slow it moved.

The MC is all over the place. The author wants the reader to like an unlikable MC by ham-fisting justice and goodness. For example, the MC is supposed to be callous and uncaring, but he always ends up saving the... more>> day like some kind of tsundere. It gets pretty old.

In the end, I still would've finished the novel, but it's a shame the translator dropped it so close to the end. It seemed like the translator was demotivated by the lack of readers, but it also feels like there was a lack of readers because of the website's policy of only publishing two chapters a week. Oh well.

I’ve got to say I really like the ideas of this novel. Great start but it fails in execution.

Pros

I do like the main lead a lot. He is vile by design but in the end always has a heart for the people around him/unrelated to him.

What I really like about this novel is the relations of the side characters to the protagonist. They are as real as it gets. They don’t just jump on the protagonist and like them. In fact, they hate him, mainly due to his vile... more>> behavior but fear him as he is powerful. This however gets a little diluted when the author tries hard to make that toxic relationship a comedy and falls flat most of the time. It is a real shame.

Believable protagonist. This novel in particular deals well in establishing the set motivations and morality of the protagonist in his place in the novel. I’ve seen a lot of other reviews here that dumps on his character but they seem to forget he is a person who willingly abandoned his strength in the other world so that he could be back to die. He was sick of living and was tired with dealing with the same arch type of people over and over again throughout his immortal life.

Cons

Padding. It really does feel the author is creating filler chapters as they do not know how to progress the story. Some of the fillers are funny, but they get stale as the same comedic points keep getting regurgitated.

One dimensional side characters. This is related to the previous point about why the fillers keep repeating. Some of the characters, while interesting, are extremely rigid. For example, the father of the story has an interesting plot point but after a certain event in the story, becomes relegated as a running joke of the story, never to have anything interesting anymore. This is not just one character however. A myriad of characters gets the same treatment of having interesting plot points at first then becoming running jokes that keeps repeating.

Poor Plot. This is the main reason why I have lost interest in this novel. And this is not just me, I’ve looked ahead and it seems to this date of when this review is up, the translator has dropped the novel for over a month citing this as well. The main story is very sparse between filler chapters. While that is fine for a “comedy” novel and I do love slice of life novels, this one does neither.

Final thoughts

If you have read this far into this review, I think you should give the novel a chance. It has a lot of the elements of making a good novel but falls flat due to the cons as stated above. <<less

this novel is hateful, all the earth characters in the story is simply ungrateful idiots. I remembered again why I hate korean novels. It's pretty repetitive at first with the same trope going for a long time. The only reason I was able to read through the beggining even though I thought it was super boring myself, was because I read this as a daily release just to waste some time. The reason for the 5 star is because the novel has really picked up. The latest few hundred chapters are really interesting and the writing and translation are great. Honestly, I didn't expect it to be this good based on how bad... more>> it was initially. <<less

Not gonna lie the beginning of this novel is a bit frustrating as it is more of a slice of comedy and humor, BUT the beginning none-the-less has plot building up albeit slowly and despite this frustration made it a good read. In the following chapters after ~200 the plot and characters do start gradually growing and becoming more than just stale, static characters, as you really feel to understand a more depth later on. If you stick around to this novel I can gurantee it gets WAY better than... more>> the beginning to the point where you question: "why did the author not write like this in the beginning!?!" None-the-less it may not be the BEST book but the writing and development I would say brings it up there the closer you are to the end. Just remember when reading this book persistence is key to really see the type of gem this story really is! <<less

How should I describe this novel? Fancy yet frustating?

Its story about MC who are basically ruthless immortal demon god who comeback from another world, and lost his immortality. Dont expect something epic like MC try saving earth with hardship like SSN, rather it was kinda pseudo one punch man MC. most of fight basically : enemy appeared - MC allies go nuts and useless - MC appeared and win- repeat. slight innovation would be MC kinda lose fight and somehow pull hidden power just to dying, and saved again somehow...... more>> meh.

Character actually pretty detailed and amusing, as reading all characters bantering each other. Its actually main selling of this novel. The foundation of the story itself really interesting, as MC used to be god of death in another world and people scared of him.

For the cons, first would be his own family. His mom and sister really annoying to deal with as they doesnt care anything about MC. If its doesnt frustating enough, the MC itself actually scared of his mom and never actually proved what he's suffer to protect them. Most characters are useless in most highlighted battle, the MC always been suffering alone. The MC attitude itself are simple minded yet weak mental despite being immortal god in the past, people might find him frustating too.

Despite all cons above, why im still rated 4 star actually you could enjoy the story if you doesnt really care about those, either by skimming or just skip a chapters. You could enjoy MC backstory or their bantering instead to get some good smile as sometimes I find it funny. Some character might be really got your nerves but the story itself are solid so I didnt complain anything about plot holes and stuff. <<less

The MC is a psychopath.

The first 45 chapters are nothing but mental and verbal abuse from the family. No idea what kind of messed up person the author is if this is supposed to be funny or interesting.

The MC is a psychopath.

... more>> By his own words he was a useless and evil before traveling to the first world, 1000+ years of suffering didn't help. Returning home, he changes by becoming able to grow, yet he's still a piece of shit, treating the only people defending his family and world like crap.

Oh, yeah, here's the kicker, the situation worsens BECAUSE of him, yet he makes even more demands. <<less

Look, it's not a masterpiece, and though I did rate it a 4, it is more of a 3, but I just wanted to point out, among all the bad reviews, that this isn't all that bad.

Sure, characters are nonsensical, and the transition between comedy and "serious" battles are practically nonexistent. Characters do feel like they have a completely different personality when in comedic moments, and then act completely contrary to their personality during serious scenes.

That being said, it still is funny, and although it is just an OP protag... more>> with other characters that serve as his foil, it still comes to an OK read.

It's been a few months since I dropped this novel and I dont really regret it, it just feels like a bad comedy with repetitive plot. This is not a bad novel, but its definitely not what I believe some people were expecting. The prologue gives a dark vibe where a man becomes a villain whose willing to do anything to go home.

Upon returning, the plot takes a major turn when the MC will literally do anything to avoid working, no matter how frustrating. I think a lot of the issues early chapter reviewers had was with this major turn in genre from dark brooding fantasy to lazy protag comedy instead of something like "Seoul Station... more>> Necromancer".

The jump in genre wasn't the best transition due to the MC immediately becoming a frustrating hikkikomori. While at first, it seems fine, the plot begins dragging and the initial first arc could be called :

Spoiler

"The SDF's sorry attempts to recruit the MC". A very frustrating arc where the MC only ever uses his experience from the otherworld to avoid working for the main organization that defends Korea and to play them.

[collapse]

A positive factor is that the MC never acts out of character. Unfortunately, his personal character is sooooo unreasonable & selfish; its one thats been destroyed by his time in the other world and it takes almost 40 chapters before the MC gets any sort of character development (in his defense, he had thousands of years of character development in the other world).

The story also takes a while to get going, which is covered up by the MC's selfish actions and leaves you with this "where is this gonna go" sort of feeling that doesnt get addressed until muuuuuuch later (and not very well).

MC has a good excuse for why he is the way he is, but its not good enough to wait for the story to get better. Read if you have free time or need something to kill time for your other novels to update <<less

Hmm... annoying... funny at times... but mostly annoying. However, I think the interactions are all interesting, if a little preposterous.

Rather than spoil the actual things, I guess a similarity will suffice.

[MC goes off to college for many years, doesn't contact his family. After finally graduating, which seemed like the school was actively against him doing so, he came back home, much to his family's shock and surprise.]

[He has gathered a wide set of skills from his time at college, but he would rather just play games and relax. However, his... more>> mom tells him to get a job.]

[Things have changed in the world, and while his family adjusted, MC is still trying to adapt. However, he gets a salaried job as his first job.]

So, let's get this straight.

Let's understand that we have a hero who literally lived more than a thousand years in another plane, on that plane he lived several lives befriended and made enemies with a lot of persons BEFORE becoming like the final boss.

I get it. Most people don't understand that he came back to "enjoy" his life and thr stuff he does usually have underlying meaning. Don't hate it because the MC isn't reasonable, that is his quirk. One should be pretty apathic living in a plane where he... more>> don't remember fully everything that happens to him.

He himself had the epithany that he is too apathic. It is a great history. And most people don't understand that that's it. A history. We can't judge it with "normal" status. That is really silly.

If the problem is about plot holes, denseness or stuff like that I can relate.

But seriously guys this is not the problem here. If someone thinks the history is unreasonable you can opt to (tada) don't read it.

I still think is a great history and I am looking forward to more releases. <<less
