It's a long Xianxia cultivation fantasy, which is moderately entertaining, with very little originality, subtlety or humor. It's not bad for its genre, and quite good if you want mostly mindless entertainment for thousands of pages.

The author has never met a cliche he didn't like -- apparent tr*sh talent, scheming clan members, young masters, jade beauties, techniques shouted out, contests for young talents (with cutoff just above the MC's age) abound everywhere. The oft-repeated commitment of MC, as well as most supporting characters, that he must cultivate and get strong,... more>> because only thus would he be able to protect his loved ones, or avoid being bullied. The conclusion is rushed and the "cosmology" is underwhelming -- which is also quite common in these types of novels.

With all that, it's not badly written. If you have a high tolerance for repetitive, conventional plot elements (which I do), it can provide weeks of reading pleasure.

I do wish there was some humor and an occasional bit of subtlety or originality, but you can't have everything. <<less

Pretty standard xianxia I would say. It has it's cliches and standard troupes so I wouldn't recommend it to people who are tired of the troupes and want something original. I'd say one of the better qualities of this novel is that it blends well together from one point to the next and it doesn't linger on too long on one area by my standards, which is suprising considering normally in these novels sometimes there are especially long points in which it feels dragged out (and I would normally take... more>> a break and come back to it later) but this one hasn't done it so far so I'm enjoying it. I'm only on 160 currently because I prefer to let the story build up a bit before reading it. As for recommendation I would say for people who are fine with xianxia and it's troupes, the story is pretty decent and hopefully it won't be dropped before its finished. <<less
