I really like this one. It's a good twist on your typical zombie apocalypse novel. The MC seems believable.

Spoiler

Although her baby is way too intelligent for having just been born, I mean he spoke to her in complete sentences the first day after his birth...

[collapse]

Also, did anyone else notice that the cover art is Katarina from league of Legends? Ill be honest, that was the biggest reason for me not reading this until today.

I believe that the potential of this novel and translation will flourish. The plot seems interesting and is unique. I have never read a female protagonist with a child in a apocalypse that happens to be zombies. I'm sure that the novel will not disappoint readers.

I tried but I still dropped this. Read if you want and make your own judgement.

Spoiler

I dunno... maybe it's because I read Zombie Sister Strategy first, but I can't stop myself from comparing the two.

MC's for both novels were written as strong, bad-ass female soldiers/leaders who turn into a zombie-human hybrid.

Both are super powerful and can control space and store things within it.

Both are over protective mothers with a son and care deeply for their team members.

Both level up using crystals very quickly and sympathise with zombies, who then include zombies "with humanity" within the family.

One difference is that this one is a reverse-harem with some questionable MLs while ZSS is a one-on-one romance.

I know I shouldn't compare, and no, I'm not trying to imply there's any plagiarism. But, I just feel that this novel could have been better. I'm not that big of a fan of ZSS either, but compared to this similar novel, I have to say it has better character and story building.

Props to the translator for the awesome translation. Too bad the storytelling was a bit boring and mediocre for me. I feel the author would sometimes go off-topic and start "rambling" about irrelevant things, which is why I skipped A LOT of paragraphs. If I can skip 3/4 of a chapter and still understand what's going on in the storyline, then it just proves there's a lot of unnecessary info in the plot.

My main dislike is the female lead. The MC, Shao Qing, is written contradictingly in that her thoughts and actions are different to how she's described. For example, author describes her as an ex-military & special forces soldier who later became a powerful figure in a mercenary (I assume) "organisation". She's written to be heartless, ruthless and cruel with the honed technical and decision-making skills of a soldier. But, she turns into an indecisive, lovestruck and soft-hearted idiot when she's around any of the MLs. She does the dirty snu snu deed with 3 different guys, expresses in her thoughts that they're attractive and "give her a sense of security", and acknowledges that she has feelings for them... to STILL treat them indifferently or like children or like a brother, even though she gets intimate with them repeatedly afterwards *scratching my head* She even admits to feeling h**ny when one ML gives her coquettish looks but still acts indifferent which "hurts his feelings" then she has the audacity to feel guilty afterwards... like what?! If MC was male, I bet a lot of readers would be cursing her and calling her scum for treating her love interests like this. Also, what happened to her son in the later chapters? Xiao Baozi was supposedly her entire reason for getting stronger. She wanted him and herself to level up so that they could become human again and live a normal life. But it's like he barely exists in the story anymore and it's all about the MC and her MLs. The main conflict in this novel was between the MC and her scumbag ex/baby-daddy, but when she saw him after such a long time, she walked straight past him. She did absolutely nothing, which again, contradicts her character of being ruthless. The author even wrote a whole chapter to portray the MC as cold-blooded and cruel to just have her prioritise d*ck over revenge. Honestly, if she was more hot-blooded and vengeful then she'd suit her character background more and be more relatable. Unfortunately, author wanted her to be cold and indifferent, probably to make her seem cool, but ended up with a boring and lackluster MC.

Anyway, I feel like the author only tried the polyandry route to make the plot more interesting to mature audiences but actually failed in delivering the complex interactions and relationships between the MC and her harem. Also, the attempts at humour with the MC being sexually harrassed repeatedly by the MLs was not funny at all and actually really disturbing.

What I liked were the realistic descriptions of human behaviour in a world where law and order no longer exist. What happened to the normal humans, especially women and girls, were horrible and disgusting, but not at all surprising. In the post apocalypse, it's everyone for themselves and I liked how the barbaric behaviours weren't filtered or "watered-down". That's pretty much it.

Rate 1.5 stars (all for the translator's efforts) which rounds up to 2 anyway. <<less

I liked the story idea and read it to the end, but there are a few major points that I hated.

1. As another person put it, there is blatant discrimination against those who aren't Chinese.
Spoiler

from the clues, Americans (M country) and Japanese (island nation)

[collapse]
Although I can and did tolerate it, I was really uncomfortable with the portrayal that M country people all wanted to go back to China along with other things such as cannibalism in the "island nation."

2. There were a lot of plot holes.
Spoiler

First of all, Gu Chuan. In the later part of the story, he is barely mentioned except through the thoughts of his sister and other more major characters occasionally mentioning him. The author hyped him up a bit as another potential lover for the MC, but nothing came out of it. And by that, I mean that there was no resolution. The MC probably never even knew that he was interested in her. His sister becomes an integral part of the story in the end and is mentioned a lot, but it's like Gu Chuan disappeared off the face of Earth. Another plot hole was the base that the MC's masochist lover left. The leader of the base let the MC and the masochist waltz out of the base after killing his step sister without any retaliation. Although the author did explain why a bit, after this incident, the leader of the base was never mentioned again. It's not that big of a deal, but I'm disappointed that he wasn't mentioned again. There are also other plot holes like how the MC got her own space storage and the baby talking at birth.

[collapse]

3. Feels to rushed. This is probably because of the MC being a Mary Sue and everything goes her way.
Spoiler

everyone in Jiangcheng loves her. I get why, but it felt to sudden.

[collapse]

In conclusion, if you can overlook some of the problems that this story has, and if this type of story, reverse harem and apocalypse, is to your taste, then go ahead and enjoy! But if not, then you'll probably dislike it.

Well, at first I have high expectation based on the rating and review.

This novel have many things that I like the most. Childcare, check. Yandere Male Lead, check. Polyandry, hehehee.. check.

But the further I read, I have this feeling that the MC is soo... I don't know, unrealistic? She may be strong as hell, but her way of thinking is way too simple as someone who has a past as someone that really talented in "organisation".
Also the lil bun!! Why the Author doens't make him appeared more frequently?? It's... more>> make the title doesnt fit this novel imo. <<less

I've seen this novel for a while but I didnt dare to read it since I wasn't exactly an apocalypse theme lover (when it comes to novels)

But what the heck, I got bored and looked for something new so tried to check this out.

IT'S GOOD! Like, I didn't expect it either, the flow of the story and how amusing the characters are (especially when MC teases Ah Qing, and how adorkable Er Dai is, plus Xiao Baizi!)

So, even with the early chapters, this already looks promising!

translation: 3/10

- there are many mistakes throughout the translation that could have been easily fixed with one proofread (ex: ‘opening a car’ when it’s ‘driving a car’)

- it’s like they MTL’d the translation word for word and cobbled it together like a passable story

... more>> - translator splits up the chapters and then has approximately fifty ads per page

- halfway through the novel translation, the translator begins including their unnecessary and dumb comments every two paragraphs in the chapter (I’m here to read the story, I don’t give a sh*t about what you want to comment on for each paragraph)

Plot:

- kind of average progression through an apocalypse

- a bunch of plot holes that go unexplained (like how they store/carry their supplies, or zero mention of clean water access, or how they even cook their food, or how they mysteriously never run out of gas, or travel between major cities within a day or two)

- the baby is more of a random plot device that the author will forget about for chapters at a time before remembering he exists

- pretty sure every character in this story has an IQ problem

Romance:

- really boring and hypocritical progression

- MC thinks about how she was betrayed before and can’t trust men —> all men end up falling for her bc she’s the most beautiful most amazing Mary Sue there is —> MC thinks about how she wouldn’t ever actually be affectionate for them —> they f*ck —> harem member +1

- chock full of random secret pining from many men because they somehow all have inferiority complexes <<less

Meh...

Story is/was interesting and this novel used to be high up in my favourite novels, but now it just irks me time after time.

My biggest issue with this novel is its racist and biased author who has been infected with: CHINA IS THE BEST IN EVERYTHING IN EXISTENCE AND EVERYONE ELSE SUCKS, EXSPECIALLY JAPANESE.

And also in the latest story arc where MC travel to M country where the author describes native people as foreigners when it is exactly the opposite making me as the reader feel that author thinks that... more>> china is the center of the world... And of course there as well chinese just have to be better than others thus the CHINA TOWN BASE... <<less

I really loved this book and was happy when I came back and saw so many new chapters!

One thing I absolutely loved at first was the character of the MC. She was cruel (when she needed to be), decisive but also kind. She was an independent woman and I appreciated that! That was also one of the most attractive things about this book to me.

Not to mention the wonderful translation!

What made we really disappointed however was things get introduced then they don’t really get addressed again even very important things.... more>>
Spoiler

What I would think is a super important thing to the story was her baby, the purpose she wants to be strong. Sadly, although it does get addressed near the beginning, the baby is no longer mentioned later on in the story in a plot building way. I see no need for the baby except to be an excuse at the beginning

[collapse]

Therefore if you are looking for a cute mother baby journey together, this isn’t it.

Another thing is that

Spoiler

Although it tells you how each person in her team is introduced, they don’t get updated after she reunites with them. Their characters stagnants from where it was and doesn’t deepen.

[collapse]

The thing that made me drop this novel was

Spoiler

her character became someone who plays with the harem guys feelings. She never took them seriously even when she had gone all the way with them. Not to mention, when she was about to sleep with the silent, earnest guy of the harem, the author addressed how she realizes she is just making excuses to justify sleeping with different men (which goes against her values) and then she doesn’t reflect and try to change like people would think but instead said why should I make him suffer when he was suffering from a drug. The way she reacted to that was just like “Since I did it before, why not do it again?” and that was so hypocritical since her ex did the same to her and she knows how much it hurts. Btw, I forgot to mention that she sleeps with the earnest man beside the drunk figure of the second guy she slept with.

[collapse]

I used to love her character but all I can think of her is as tr*sh now. <<less

This series starts off slow, but becomes really addicting. The translation is smooth, and the main character is flawed but strong, which makes her much more interesting than the usual Mary Sue. She's vengeful, ruthless, but also can be very loyal and kind to people she considers her own. Her baby isn't annoying, but takes up a good portion of the MCs thoughts, which I think gives her some neccessary drive. The other characters are also distinct and interesting. Please give the story a try!

Superb. This novel is very good writen. The apocalypse-type story is not the focus on this novel. The main plot is revenge to her man, who dump our MC. There is also super power, bloody scene, cruel scene, funny, touching moment. All in one packed. Recommended by me

Interesting idea, poor execution.

The MC is OP and no real trouble comes her way. But I don't think she has a personality besides OP. She's supposed to be betrayed by her lover and during the apocalypse, she's flirting around like she didn't die because of love. She's a holy mother who has no problem killing. She has a lot of contradictions but that didn't make her an interesting character.

All characters are one dimensional. The story isn't gripping and it's like I'm not following any story at all. There's no thrill... more>> that I usually get when reading apocalypse novels.

I'm dropping this. Also, the translation isn't that good. It's not yet unbearable in this chapter but the trend is it's increasing becomes worse. <<less

Novel was quite interesting until around chapter 100 when the story start to go downward and have ton of plot hole, would stop reading after 100s chapter.

Spoiler

The MC characteristic change so much she become more of a Mary sue and how her rule of not going beyond a certain limit with the male around was gone she literally began to sleep with them.

Story have a bunch of pole hole after 100s chapter

Here are a few example

  • How did they carry supplies
  • When did the group find out if MC space and how did they react to it
  • What happens to Er dai low IQ due to him being a zombie he suddenly become smart all of a sudden
  • Also the part where MC was save by Yan Qiyue, where she stay there for quite a while and totally forgot about her son who was suppose to be her most important thing in the world

This books feels like the script to a manga. I feel no desire to continue reading, as every chapter felt more like a task than an enjoyment. While the idea of the story was interesting, the follow through was lacking and left me disappointed.

Characters feel very flat, the tempo is very quick, the chemistry (MC and ML) is unsatisfying, and the only descriptive measures are focused on describing how grotesque certain situations are.

That said, the MC has the type of OP (so far) that I usually enjoy and a certain... more>> amount of charm to go with it, the ML is doting, and the plot moves quick enough to not leave you bored. <<less

It’s a really good novel with a strong premise. There are logical leaps for some things like the baby knowing how to say mama within minutes of its birth (ch1, not a spoiler). I accept that the child could be intelligent enough, but language still needs heard at least once right? His mom was in a coma-like state as they developed their abilities, so it’s not like she was even speaking to her belly... I’m going off track. These logical leaps are minor and worth the overall plot.

I lost a... more>> little interest once I realized this was reverse harem, but will likely push through anyway. I like it that much! <<less

Unoriginal and unexceptional. Mediocre writing. I read the first 27 chapters, and the story is full of lazy tropes. The protagonist gets mysterious powerups like far-above-average strength or an item space for no reason. Antagonists are incompetent, dumb, and weak. The obvious way to power up is only known to the protagonist. There are no side characters; there's only cardboard. Etc. And the one thing that is supposed to make the story unique, i.e. the monster-mother-and-child thing, is hardly even relevant - the child rarely has an active role, so... more>> the protagonist might as well be alone, plus she disguises herself as a human, so... what's even the point of the premise?

My recommendation: Dominion's End is a better story by a more skilled author, which nonetheless touches on many of the same themes as this one, like family, apocalypse, powering up by consuming monster crystals, etc... except that there, the author successfully put an original spin on all these themes. <<less

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I mean some things especially the 1st chapter didn't explain why MC decide to cut her stomach and her son can speak the moment he was born but please! This is a novel it wasn't supposed to be logic plus infact I could understand she does it. First, she is a former army person so she knows whether or not she's going to die when she decides to do something and probably her "instinct" as a zombie already kicks in. Thus, she know she had to... more>> cut her stomach unless her son the one who cuts it from inside. I think it's how zombie reproduced you know? The newborn baby will sucks the zombie who imp**gnated him and gains strength to live. The harem is really good ♥♥ I cried when reaching some parts because it was so touching. Actually I found this novel far long ago but don't read it cause I'm not interested in the protagonist become beings other than humans but now that I read this f*ck I want more pleaseeee <<less
