Description
Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.Veteran programmer Li Mu was unfortunately kicked by fate into the year 2001, right before university entrance examinations. He happily shook his butt, got up, and inevitably stepped onto the road of being spectacular.
As a person re-living his life Li Mu had his own goals and ambitions. Earning money was just the primary stage of becoming amazing.
As for getting into the weekly publication of Times Magazine, becoming a master in the IT industry, and aiming for being on the Forbes Magazine list, they could all only be considered as his life’s instermediate stage.
As for what he considered the highest realm of being a phenomenal, Li Mu felt like there were the following three points:
• Becoming a rich man’s idol.
• Becoming a celebrity’s godfather.
• Becoming an extraordinary person’s father.

- MC is not dense or too arrogant
Cons:-
- Characters with potential turned into sh*t eg. (The GF, the big sis, his side-chick, etc.)
You'll get bored at around chapter 500+Worthy read for those with an interest in how China's titans of industry came about during that time. Otherwise objectively speaking it's only worth 3 stars. @OddJobs probably has the most concise review of the novel, so I'll just embellish a little of what he wrote. SUMMARY
A down-and-out 30+yr old computer programmer gets a second-chance to relive his most pivotal moment in senior high 2001, which coincides with the birth of many titans of industry, from internet companies to entertainment to real estate (Alibaba, JD. Com, Tencent, Wanda, Shanda, Didi, etc). COMMENTS -- Interesting Era
The 2000-2010 was a genuinely interesting era and when huge fortunes were made. Which explains why there are a ton of novels covering rebirth during this time. The level of detail of the various titans of industry (Jack Ma, etc) is impressive, covering their origins and how MC is able to weave his way into their ranks. -- Level-headed MC, but skills don't make sense
A genuinely clever MC who just didn't have the background or opportunity to act in his previous life. Armed with foreknowledge and future programming skills, he's able to capitalize on business opportunities to grow his wealth. He shows a decent level of maturity and business acumen, but it doesn't make any sense that he's suddenly able to become an expert negotiator, singer or lover, just because he's mentally 30+yrs old.
How's MC supposed to accurately remember the lyrics to all the hit songs?
How's MC supposed to know all the programming logic for various popular future software?
How's MC supposed to remember all the various future tech titans, where they were and what they were doing during 2001-2002 and actively seek them out?
Even "I'm Really A Superstar" made more logical sense for MC gaining skills. -- Painful retcons
Unfortunately the author's hero-level of worship of these titans of industry comes at a lousy time (he wrote this in 2016), just when countless exposé came out on their sordid business dealings and personal life.
Just think of when Steve Jobs died in 2011, and all the scandals about his life started coming out. Same issue here.
- Baidu's unethical sale of medical ads in 2016/2017 forced author to rewrite MC's business partnership with Baidu.
- Author/MC's worship of JD. Com's founder multiple s*x scandals post 2017.
- Alibaba's founder Jack Ma's support of 996 work-hours, which sparked a lot of societal anger.
While GUI (graphical user interfaces) were a serious problem for Chinese software in the early 2000s, the idea that using foreknowledge to develop better online products is pretty implausible. The hardware just can't keep up with the software.
Some features can be ported from the future (e.g. Group chat functions, basic game trainers, etc).
Some features (large scale MMO level features, huge server capacities, and even just BASIC BANDWIDTH) are just impossible. -- Poor Pacing and Overall Business Development
MC becomes a multi-millionaire (chinese yuan) within 2-3 months (first 100 chapters before he goes to college).
MC becomes a billionaire (chinese yuan) within 1 yr (first 400+ chapters).
And then MC decides to enter every industry he can think of, within the same 1 yr. From entertainment to various forms of real estate to even automotive. Several of his business ideas and development gets really boring after awhile. Author spends dozens of chapters puffing up the ideas, then MC just assigns someone to develop it and walks away.
-- Very poor development on romance
Besides having love-interests that have high future potential (they had great status/wealth/capabilities as they got older in MC's prev timeline), almost all of MCs love interests besides his subordinate are entirely useless damsels-in-distress. MC is constantly bailing them out of trouble all the time, which is incredibly annoying.
While the harem theme isn't entirely problematic, the development is just abysmal.
MC constantly thinks with his d*ck and cheats on his gf at the first opportunity. Keep in mind he's mentally 30+ yrs old entering relationships with 19-23 yr olds.
MC is constantly exposed to more women through his work, even after his relationship with his gf is officially established. Not sure what author is trying to do.
Main character is brilliant at developing business. Despite he copy ideas (as it is time travelling, okay), he is still very smart, and has great understanding of the internet businesses and people hearts. He is not bad or good, sometimes he does charity and very supportive and emotional, sometimes he does clever trick to destroy enemies or competitors. At some moments I was amazed with his brilliant mind. I respect the author of the story for the plot.
Harem is an element, but for me it is not that important. At the beginning romantic lines are very slow. The most girls fall in love first and take an initiative to be closer. Sometimes these romantic elements are good to have a break from his great strategy of running business and overcome issues. Main character treats each of his girlfriends tenderly and tries to repay their feelings as best he can. It is not dirty story. It is confusing and it's not clear how to reach a happy ending, so it also keeps you in suspense.
The industries where main character take a part are e-commerce, social networks, online music websites, online games, other Internet segments, show business, acting, cinemas. Maybe more.
